The final whistle doesn’t have to be the end of it.
A room beside the ground can be handy at five o’clock and less useful at nine. We look at the journey, the neighbourhood and the evening, as well as the bed.
For most supporters, base yourself in the compact city-centre belt between Wentworth Street, Westgate, Cathedral Square and Broadway. It keeps the station, pre/post-match food and drink, and the ground within walking range. The exception is anyone whose overriding priority is stepping out of the hotel almost straight into the stadium: The Queensgate Hotel is effectively beside the ground, but its current quality and parking-feedback profile is weaker than the better central choices.
The best all-round current choice for a Peterborough United overnight trip. It gives up only a few minutes versus the closest stadium hotels, but in return you get a much stronger recent quality signal, a central position for food and drinks, useful station access, free hotel parking and verified Booking.com availability.
A practical roughly 10-13 minute walk to the ground, so supporters can do the match on foot.
Central enough for Cathedral Square, Bridge Street and the wider city-centre food-and-drink offer.
The match journey
Approximately 0.46 miles straight-line from hotel/stadium coordinates; the realistic pedestrian route is nearer 0.6 miles and typically around 10-13 minutes, using the central/Town Bridge approach.
The trade-off
Midweek prices were highly variable in the sampled dates and can be substantially higher than weekends.

A shorter stadium journeyPut getting back first
The Queensgate Hotel
Fletton Avenue / stadium edge
The distance winner by a large margin: Booking.com describes it as next to Peterborough Football Club and the hotel is about a tenth of a mile from the stadium coordinates. It can make sense for a supporter who wants the shortest possible post-match walk and a low room price.
Effectively beside Weston Homes Stadium; the walk is only a couple of minutes.
Generally the cheapest of the three primary hotels in the sampled dates.
The match journey
Approximately 0.11 miles straight-line from the stadium coordinates. Booking.com explicitly describes the hotel as next to Peterborough Football Club.
The trade-off
Current Booking.com score is materially below Park Inn and The Bull.

For the pubs & eveningMake a night of it
The Bull Hotel; Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western
Westgate / city centre
The strongest pick if the football trip includes a proper city-centre evening. The Bull is on Westgate at the heart of Peterborough's central entertainment and shopping district, within an easy walk of Broadway, Cathedral Square and the station. It also has more character than the modern chains.
Best of the primary choices for being immediately in the city-centre food, pub and late-evening area.
Broadway, identified by local tourism material as Peterborough's nightlife area, is close by.
The match journey
Approximately 0.68 miles straight-line from hotel/stadium coordinates; allow around 0.8 miles and 15-18 minutes on the practical walking route.
The trade-off
The stadium walk is longer than Park Inn and much longer than Queensgate.

YOUR GROUND / YOUR STAY
Where’s the football? We’ll help with the overnight bit.
Choose the club whose ground you’re visiting. Compare the published hotel choices, then select the match to take its date into the booking partner.
Every club has a route into its guide. Published hotel depth varies; we’ll say when a shortlist is still being developed.
THREE WAYS TO MAKE A NIGHT OF IT
What matters after the match?
The same hotel won’t suit every trip. Decide what you want from the overnight stay, then weigh the compromises.
01 / THE WALK BACK
Keep the ground within reach.
A straightforward walk back can be welcome after an evening kick-off. Check the actual route, and what’s nearby once the crowds have gone.
02 / THE EVENING
Stay where the night has options.
If you want a meal and a couple of pubs after the match, a proper centre can be worth the extra journey to the turnstiles.
03 / THE RAIL ARRIVAL
Make the luggage leg easy.
A station-side base can save carrying bags across town. The useful question is how the hotel, station and ground work together.
THE SHORTLIST HAS TO EARN ITS PLACE
More gets considered than makes the page.
There’s usually a tempting option: the cheapest room, the hotel nearest the stadium, the one with the smartest photographs. None tells the whole story.
Our research considers a wider field. Some places fall away because of awkward connections, an isolated location, price or recurring concerns in reviews. The published choices come with reasons to stay and compromises worth knowing.
Location, reputation, price context and practical travel.

A COMMERCIAL LINK STILL NEEDS AN EDITORIAL REASON
The useful bit comes before the booking button.
Hotel links can earn us commission. That is how this part of the website is supported, and we explain it openly. The recommendation still needs to make sense for a football trip: where you’ll be, how you’ll get around and what you give up by choosing it.
