The final whistle doesn’t have to be the end of it.
A room beside the ground can be handy at five o’clock and less useful at nine. We look at the journey, the neighbourhood and the evening, as well as the bed.
For most supporters, base yourself between Nottingham Station and the city centre rather than forcing a stay beside the stadium. West Bridgford is useful when being close to the ground is the overriding priority, but its small hotel stock currently involves more quality trade-offs. The station/city-centre corridor gives a straightforward walk over Trent Bridge to the match and a better choice of reliable hotels.
Station Street / Nottingham Station, southern city centre
This is the strongest Nottingham Forest hotel for the widest range of supporters. It is close to Nottingham Station, roughly a one-mile walk from the City Ground, and still within easy walking distance of central bars and restaurants. Current Booking.com feedback is strong and recent Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, staff and convenience.
About a one-mile practical walking route to the City Ground, so there is no need to depend on post-match taxis.
Around five minutes on foot from Nottingham Station, making arrival and departure unusually simple for a football trip.
The match journey
Rome2Rio gives about one mile between the hotel and City Ground; Forest's own guidance puts Nottingham Station at roughly 20 minutes' walk from the stadium. Booking.com's City Ground search lists Leonardo at roughly 0.7 miles as a proximity measure.
The trade-off
Sampled rates sit above Nottingham's budget tier and midweek pricing was quite variable.

Roomzzz Nottingham City
Talbot Street / Rock City, northern city centre
Roomzzz is the strongest current nightlife-led choice because it combines a genuinely central late-evening location with much better recent guest feedback than several obvious city-centre rivals. It sits beside Rock City and a few minutes from central bars, restaurants and entertainment, while Hockley/Lace Market remains walkable.
Excellent current reputation: Booking.com around 8.8–8.9/10 and Tripadvisor around 4.6/5 when checked.
Rock City is essentially next door and the property says popular bars, shops and restaurants are within about five minutes.
The match journey
Location listings put the City Ground at about 2.4 km from Roomzzz. A walk is realistic for fit supporters but is materially longer than Leonardo; the property's own information instead highlights an 11-minute taxi or 16-minute public-transport journey to Trent Bridge.
The trade-off
Longer walk to the City Ground than Leonardo; this is a nightlife-first choice rather than a stadium-first one.

YOUR GROUND / YOUR STAY
Where’s the football? We’ll help with the overnight bit.
Choose the club whose ground you’re visiting. Compare the published hotel choices, then select the match to take its date into the booking partner.
Every club has a route into its guide. Published hotel depth varies; we’ll say when a shortlist is still being developed.
THREE WAYS TO MAKE A NIGHT OF IT
What matters after the match?
The same hotel won’t suit every trip. Decide what you want from the overnight stay, then weigh the compromises.
01 / THE WALK BACK
Keep the ground within reach.
A straightforward walk back can be welcome after an evening kick-off. Check the actual route, and what’s nearby once the crowds have gone.
02 / THE EVENING
Stay where the night has options.
If you want a meal and a couple of pubs after the match, a proper centre can be worth the extra journey to the turnstiles.
03 / THE RAIL ARRIVAL
Make the luggage leg easy.
A station-side base can save carrying bags across town. The useful question is how the hotel, station and ground work together.
THE SHORTLIST HAS TO EARN ITS PLACE
More gets considered than makes the page.
There’s usually a tempting option: the cheapest room, the hotel nearest the stadium, the one with the smartest photographs. None tells the whole story.
Our research considers a wider field. Some places fall away because of awkward connections, an isolated location, price or recurring concerns in reviews. The published choices come with reasons to stay and compromises worth knowing.

A COMMERCIAL LINK STILL NEEDS AN EDITORIAL REASON
The useful bit comes before the booking button.
Hotel links can earn us commission. That is how this part of the website is supported, and we explain it openly. The recommendation still needs to make sense for a football trip: where you’ll be, how you’ll get around and what you give up by choosing it.
