What this club is really about
Bradford City makes most sense as an urban, supporter-memory club rather than a list of honours. Its home predates the football club, its colours came from Manningham FC, its greatest trophy has a direct Bradford manufacturing link, and its modern history repeatedly turns on whether club and ground survive together. The 1985 fire is inseparable from that identity but should not consume it: the same supporter culture also contains the City Gent, Bantam humour, giant-killings, promotions at the last possible moment and stubborn loyalty through long lower-division spells.
