FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW BRADFORD CITY TO BLACKPOOL

This fixture is still months away, on 29 December. Today's table is useful background, but it is not a prediction of the positions either side will hold on matchday. If Bradford City are involved in the promotion picture by then, this could be an away result with real weight behind it.

Bradford City are 3rd in League One after 11 league games, with 21 points. Before the season, they were seen as promotion and play-off contenders.

Blackpool are 17th in League One after 10 league games, with 11 points.

Recent results give Blackpool four points from a possible fifteen, with one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five league games. Those are results available now; the form heading into this fixture may be very different.

Blackpool gives this trip a seaside setting as well as the football. If you want time by the coast, leave space either side of the match rather than trying to fit it all into the journey home. If the match is the priority, the stadium hotel is the most practical base. If you are arriving by train and expect to spend the evening in central Blackpool, the Blackpool North/Talbot Road area is stronger; the tramway links North Station with the Blackpool Football Club stop, so you do not need to sacrifice match access completely. Check the matchday travel arrangements again nearer the fixture.

Make the football the reason to go and give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Check the confirmed kick-off and ticket arrangements before committing to travel or a hotel, then choose the plan that lets you support Bradford City from the away end without rushing the whole day.

Table and form checked 22 October.

Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

Bloomfield Road / South-central Blackpool

The strongest football-trip choice because it is part of Bloomfield Road itself rather than simply being nearby. Current guest evidence is solid rather than flawless, but the combination of zero-fuss match access, verified Booking.com coverage, pitch-facing football atmosphere and a lower sampled Friday rate than the Holiday Inn makes it the best overall fit for a supporter whose main reason for staying is the match.

  • Located within Bloomfield Road, so there is effectively no post-match transfer back to the hotel.
  • The Corner Flag bar and restaurant overlooks the pitch, making the hotel feel part of the football trip rather than a generic resort stay.
The match journey

The hotel is within Bloomfield Road stadium; this is effectively an on-site stay.

The trade-off

Current review quality is good but less consistent than Holiday Inn Blackpool: a minority of recent reviews report tired décor or maintenance, including a 22 September 2026 Tripadvisor suite review.

WHY STAY HERE?

Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

Bloomfield Road / South-central Blackpool

Our view

The strongest football-trip choice because it is part of Bloomfield Road itself rather than simply being nearby. Current guest evidence is solid rather than flawless, but the combination of zero-fuss match access, verified Booking.com coverage, pitch-facing football atmosphere and a lower sampled Friday rate than the Holiday Inn makes it the best overall fit for a supporter whose main reason for staying is the match.

Why it suits this trip

  • Located within Bloomfield Road, so there is effectively no post-match transfer back to the hotel.
  • The Corner Flag bar and restaurant overlooks the pitch, making the hotel feel part of the football trip rather than a generic resort stay.
  • Booking.com coverage is verified and the six-date price sample remained competitive for a four-star football-specific property.
  • Blackpool South station is about a nine-minute walk according to Radisson, while the Promenade is also close by.

Getting to the ground

The hotel is within Bloomfield Road stadium; this is effectively an on-site stay.

Pubs and the evening

Fine if football is the priority, but central Blackpool is the stronger late-evening base. A walk or tram journey is needed for the main town-centre nightlife cluster.

Arriving by train

Radisson states Blackpool South station is about a nine-minute walk. Supporters arriving through Blackpool North can use the tramway south towards the Blackpool Football Club stop.

The trade-offs

  • Current review quality is good but less consistent than Holiday Inn Blackpool: a minority of recent reviews report tired décor or maintenance, including a 22 September 2026 Tripadvisor suite review.
  • Central Blackpool is a better base if the evening out matters as much as the match.
  • Pitch-view rooms have EFL/FA-related curtain restrictions before and during home matches, so a pitch view should not be treated as a way to watch the game from the room.

Research price context

Typically around £75–£90 midweek, rising to roughly £125–£130 on the sampled Friday nights.

Holiday Inn Blackpool by IHG

Talbot Road / Blackpool North / town centre

The strongest choice when the overnight stay is about the evening and the journey as well as the football. It is immediately beside Blackpool North, has direct access to the North Station tram stop, puts the town centre and Winter Gardens area on foot, and has markedly stronger current guest scores than most traditional Blackpool stock.

  • IHG states the hotel is less than two minutes from Blackpool North station, making it particularly strong for rail arrivals.
  • Direct access to the North Station tram stop gives a practical public-transport link towards the Blackpool Football Club stop.
The match journey

Approximate practical walking distance/time from the Blackpool North/Talbot Road area. Blackpool Transport maps both North Station and Blackpool Football Club stops on the tramway, making tram travel the more attractive matchday option for many guests.

The trade-off

It is not next to Bloomfield Road; allow roughly 25 minutes on foot, or use the tram for the match journey.

WHY STAY HERE?

Holiday Inn Blackpool by IHG

Talbot Road / Blackpool North / town centre

Our view

The strongest choice when the overnight stay is about the evening and the journey as well as the football. It is immediately beside Blackpool North, has direct access to the North Station tram stop, puts the town centre and Winter Gardens area on foot, and has markedly stronger current guest scores than most traditional Blackpool stock. The cost is the trade-off: sampled Friday prices were much higher than midweek and above the stadium hotel.

Why it suits this trip

  • IHG states the hotel is less than two minutes from Blackpool North station, making it particularly strong for rail arrivals.
  • Direct access to the North Station tram stop gives a practical public-transport link towards the Blackpool Football Club stop.
  • Town-centre, seafront and Winter Gardens locations are walkable, so food and drinks after the match are easier than from the stadium area.
  • Current Booking.com and Tripadvisor evidence is exceptionally strong for cleanliness, comfort, staff and location.
  • Platform 9 Bar & Kitchen is on site and IHG advertises Sky Sports and TNT Sports in the bar.

Getting to the ground

Approximate practical walking distance/time from the Blackpool North/Talbot Road area. Blackpool Transport maps both North Station and Blackpool Football Club stops on the tramway, making tram travel the more attractive matchday option for many guests.

Pubs and the evening

This is the better base for the town-centre evening: central bars, food, seafront and Winter Gardens are nearby, with Platform 9 in the hotel itself.

Arriving by train

IHG states the hotel is less than two minutes from Blackpool North station and provides direct access to the North Station tram stop from the lower ground floor.

The trade-offs

  • It is not next to Bloomfield Road; allow roughly 25 minutes on foot, or use the tram for the match journey.
  • The sampled Friday market was expensive: roughly £130–£190 versus £65–£90 midweek in this research window.
  • For a supporter who only wants the shortest possible matchday walk, the stadium hotel is materially more convenient.

Research price context

Typically around £65–£90 midweek in the sampled dates, but roughly £130–£190 on the sampled Friday nights, so the weekend premium can be substantial.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Bloomfield Road

The ground

Bradford City at Blackpool

Three permanent stands form the modern core and carry the names Matthews, Mortensen and Armfield; opposite the Matthews Stand, the long-lived 'temporary' East Stand remains visually and experientially different. Modern rail seating in the North, the tangerine-and-white South Stand roof, a new Matthews mural, statues and memorials sit on top of ground history that includes the Scratching Sheds, an old cinder Kop and coastal-engineered floodlights.

Recorded capacity

Views from the away section

Generally serviceable views; experience is more basic than the newest EFL grounds.

Supporter observation

Visitor feedback on Bloomfield Road’s East away stand repeatedly mentions roof-support pillars as the main sightline weakness; the underlying view can be decent but seat position matters.

Why the ground matters

Bloomfield Road's history reaches back to South Shore and the 1899 amalgamation. Supporters helped build and name parts of the ground, deliberately stayed away during the boycott, then filled it for the Homecoming. Modernisation in 2026 continued alongside work to display that history.

Food & drink

Bradford City at Blackpool

Blackpool has two useful rail patterns. Blackpool South is the nearest station to Bloomfield Road but only has an hourly Preston service; Blackpool North has far more trains and is roughly a 25-minute walk. Visitors are currently in the East Stand, entering through turnstiles 18–21 or 22–25.

Food and drink around the ground

North-station groups can meet centrally at The Castle or head towards The Manchester on the Promenade; South arrivals have the clearest away option in The Bridge, a designated visiting-supporters’ pub only a few minutes from the ground. The New Philly is also on the current official visiting list. Colours are less certain than access: older official guidance allowed them at The Bridge and Manchester, but current house policies were not found.

For food, Yorkshire Fisheries is the strong town-centre chippy, Bloomfield Chippy suits the ground route, and the East Stand has hot dogs, pies and sausage rolls. Stay centrally/North for trains and nightlife, or around Bloomfield Road/South Shore for a football-first overnight.

Contact Blackpool FC's disability liaison officer before the match if you need accessible away seating, an allocated stadium space or a suitable drop-off. Stadium parking is limited and requires advance discussion; do not rely on finding an accessible bay beside your entrance on arrival. From Blackpool North or the town centre, follow the football-ground signs towards Seasiders Way.

Allow extra time to reach your particular turnstile, as the stadium's postcode takes you to the ground rather than the correct entrance.

Buses & local travel

For a matchday trip from central Blackpool, the new Seasider Specials offer a useful alternative to walking. The promenade tramway is useful from Blackpool North and the seafront: alight at Manchester Square or St Chad’s Road and walk inland towards Bloomfield Road. YOUR AWAY DAY · Bloomfield Road

Parking

Bradford City at Blackpool

Plan to use paid parking rather than depend on a free street near Bloomfield Road. You generally do not need to pre-book a council pay-and-display space, but arriving early matters. We could not confirm a named, unrestricted residential stretch with dependable matchday availability. Bloomfield Road council car park on Seasiders Way, FY1 6HX, is the easiest first choice, a few minutes from the stadium and close to the East Stand approach.

Parking & park-and-ride

It has 617 advertised car spaces, opens around the clock and costs £7.20 for up to six hours. PayByPhone code 803811 is useful when the payment machine is busy. Lonsdale Road car park, FY1 6JX, charges the same and is another short walk away. The larger South car park on Yeadon Way, FY1 6BF, is a practical fallback if the closest sites are full. Both are open 24 hours. No council tariff or football permit reserves an individual bay.

Do not treat nearby residential streets as unrestricted simply because there are no obvious payment machines. The council lists a residents' permit scheme covering addresses on Bloomfield Road, Lytham Road and surrounding streets, but exact bay restrictions vary. Lidl has parking at its Bloomfield Road store, but football-use permission has not been confirmed.

Aim to arrive 75–90 minutes before kick-off and allow four to five hours overall, including the return walk and queues. Buy six hours rather than risk a three-hour expiry. If you want a space held for you, book a legitimate private space in advance and check its access instructions; otherwise head straight to the signed South car park rather than circling side streets.

Parking verdict
Use a council pay-and-display car park; no named legally unrestricted, matchday-reliable street option was established. Advance booking is optional for private spaces, not normally necessary for council pay-on-arrival parking.
Legal restrictions — LYTH area
Council resident-permit eligibility list includes Bloomfield Road numbers 1–67 and 2–92, plus sections of Lytham Road, Saville Road, Haig Road, St Heliers Road and nearby streets; eligibility alone does not prove every on-street bay is permit-only
Legal restrictions — paid on-street bays
Blackpool Council says bay restrictions vary by position and time; Bond Street, Watson Road and promenade have paid parking bays. Consult the sign beside the actual space.
Legal restrictions — Dunelt Road
September 2026 published proposed changes included no-waiting restrictions on the east side; commencement/enactment and precise extent not confirmed

Seasiders Way/Chapel Street FY1 5QE; 1,306 car spaces; £9.30 up to 6 hours; opens 07:00–midnight, not all-night entry/exit
Booking recommendation
No council pay-and-display space is reserved by buying a time tariff or Blackpool FC parking permit. For a pre-confirmed space choose a legitimate private listing and check booking terms and access instructions.
Bookable private parking
YourParkingSpace advertises bookable six-hour spaces near Bloomfield Road and states confirmed reservations are guaranteed under its booking guarantee; exact listings and costs depend on date
Football season parking permit

Supermarket permission/time limit — Morrisons Squires Gate Lane
Retailer states a two-hour maximum at FY4 2AY; too short for matchday visit and not a verified football parking scheme
Total dwell time
Allow approximately 4–5 hours: illustrative 75 minutes pre-match, 105 minutes including half-time and stoppage, 30 minutes exiting, 20 minutes total walking and 20 minutes parking/traffic = 250 minutes (4h10); six-hour ticket allows margin, especially for extra time.
After the match
Allow for exit congestion in stadium-adjacent surface car parks; no official comparison of exit times or guaranteed faster council site was established
Sunday/evening/bank holiday difference
Council car park charges apply at all times, including Sundays and evenings; street signs and fixture-specific road controls may differ

Driving & road restrictions

For Bloomfield Road use FY1 6JJ, but put FY1 6HX into your sat-nav if you're aiming for the adjacent council car park. The established away-supporter approach is M6 junction 32, M55, then Yeadon Way onto Seasiders Way. Follow signs for the selected car park rather than driving into the residential roads beside the ground. Allow extra time during resort weekends and major matches, when visitor traffic shares these approaches with football traffic.

A 2026 temporary order covered resurfacing on part of Bloomfield Road, while ongoing evening bus diversions have also been reported. Check active road closures before your particular fixture; the earlier temporary order does not prove that road is still shut.

Worth knowing

Bradford City at Blackpool

Bloomfield Road brings together Blackpool's central seaside setting and a ground full of club history. The Matthews, Mortensen and Armfield stand names are immediately visible, while the different appearance of the East Stand shows how redevelopment has proceeded in stages.

Matchday features

Seaside resort setting. Temporary/less-permanent away-stand character. Flexible ambulant seating

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

Tangerine is not subtle

Supporter interpretation

Tangerine is prominent in the shirts, scarves and stadium, and supporters are particular about its name.

The great names are on the building

Matthews, Mortensen and Armfield remain everyday names for the stands where people watch their football.

The East Stand feels different

The current visiting section is the less permanent-looking side of a largely rebuilt ground, with pillars/restricted-view issues still noted in 2026 guides.

The resort is part of the visual context

Supporter interpretation

Bloomfield Road is close enough to central Blackpool that football and seaside geography feel connected rather than separate trips.

The Matthews mural

At the entrance to the Matthews Stand; current from November 2025.

The stand-name roll-call

Matthews, Mortensen and Armfield turn a lap of the stadium into a compressed club history lesson.

Tangerine-and-white fabric

The South Stand roof repaint makes the club colour visible in the building, not only shirts and scarves.

The contrast of the East Stand

It remains the odd side out architecturally and is the normal visiting section in 2026/27.

Memorial detail

The Kevin Olsson plaque commemorates a serious loss in the club's supporter history.

South Shore inheritance

Bloomfield Road's story starts before Blackpool FC's permanent move because South Shore used the site before the 1899 amalgamation.

Supporter-built history

The 1920s Supporters' Club and East Stand are an early precedent for later supporter labour around the ground.

Boycott and reclamation

An emptying ground became the protest symbol; the packed 2019 return and subsequent volunteer work reversed that meaning.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

Contact Blackpool FC's disability liaison officer before the match if you need accessible away seating, an allocated stadium space or a suitable drop-off. Stadium parking is limited and requires advance discussion; do not rely on finding an accessible bay beside your entrance on arrival.

A typical football visit can exceed three hours, so check payment rules for the longer stay. Blackpool South and Blackpool North stations both have step-free platform access, but confirm train boarding assistance and the onward pavements separately.

After the match

After the match

Expect slow movement around Seasiders Way when supporters leave together, particularly after a busy Saturday match. If you parked beside the stadium, allow time to walk back and get out rather than assuming the short distance means a quick drive. South car park is a useful signed alternative, but it is not a guaranteed faster exit.

For public transport, check the return train from Blackpool South before kick-off because services are less frequent. The Seasider Specials operate for only an hour after league matches, and temporary roadworks can alter other buses. If you're leaving by rail from Blackpool North, leave enough time for the onward walk or connection rather than rushing to a booked train.

Where to stay

Stay around Blackpool North and Talbot Road if you are coming by train and want pubs, food and the town centre after the match. Holiday Inn Blackpool is beside the station and North Station tram stop, so you can explore without arranging a car journey back from the ground.

If the football is the main reason for staying, Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel sits within Bloomfield Road itself. Radisson puts it about nine minutes on foot from Blackpool South station. The trade-off is a shorter walk to the match but a less central base for the evening; compare rates for your actual date rather than relying on sample weekday prices.

Best stay base — train and nightlife

Read full overview Hide full overview

Blackpool has two useful rail patterns. Blackpool South is the nearest station to Bloomfield Road but only has an hourly Preston service; Blackpool North has far more trains and is roughly a 25-minute walk. Visitors are currently in the East Stand, entering through turnstiles 18–21 or 22–25.

PUB / BAR

The New Philly Family Bar

68-70 Foxhall Road, Blackpool, FY1 5BL
Usually away-friendlyFamily friendlyLimited food
BEST FORfamilies · smaller groups · away-fan alternative
MATCHDAY INTELA family-style pub and sports bar that appears repeatedly in recent away-fan guidance, useful as an alternative to the bigger promenade pubs.
WORTH KNOWINGFood appears secondary to the bar offer, so use it mainly as a drinks stop unless you have checked the current menu.
PUB / BAR

Crazy Scots Bar / Happy Scots Bar

9 Rigby Road, Blackpool, FY1 5DF
Away access: fixture dependent
BEST FORonly after checking the current name and policy
MATCHDAY INTELRecent away guidance names a Happy Scots Bar at this address, while current listings call it Crazy Scots Bar, so this needs a check before relying on it.
WORTH KNOWINGConfirm both the venue name and away-fan policy for your fixture before travelling.
PUB / BAR

The Waterloo Music Bar

166 Waterloo Road, Blackpool, FY4 2AF
Away access: checkFamily: check
BEST FORsupporters wanting a quieter alternative before evening gigs · live music
MATCHDAY INTELA long-standing football-guide suggestion south of the ground, but current evidence is much stronger for live music than for a defined away-fan matchday policy.
WORTH KNOWINGCurrent events are generally 14+ with under-18s supervised; check football-day access before choosing it.
PUB / BAR

Castle Hotel Blackpool

28-32 Central Drive, Blackpool, FY1 5PZ
Away access: check
BEST FORBlackpool North arrivals meeting centrally · supporters wanting sport and entertainment · groups starting in the town centre
MATCHDAY INTELThe practical Blackpool North meeting pub from the current away list. It is central, open from morning, shows sport and lets rail arrivals start together before the walk south to Bloomfield Road.
WORTH KNOWINGNo current away-colours rule was found, and its family policy varies by day/area. Check if travelling with children or a large group.
PUB / BAR

The Bridge

124 Lytham Road, Blackpool, FY1 6DZ
3 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORBlackpool South arrivals · larger away groups · supporters wanting the clearest current away pub
MATCHDAY INTELThe strongest current away-pub choice. The Bridge describes itself through current away-pub listings as Blackpool’s designated visiting-supporters’ pub, with coach drop-offs, a family-friendly setup and only a few minutes to Bloomfield Road.
WORTH KNOWINGOlder official guidance allowed away colours, but a current shirt policy was not found. Some Blackpool bars change colours or children rules by fixture.
PUB / BAR

The Manchester

231-233 Promenade, Blackpool, FY1 6AH
7 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORBlackpool North/town-centre groups walking south · food and football on TV · supporters staying on the Promenade
MATCHDAY INTELA dependable seafront option on the current visiting list, with football screens and a separate family bar serving pub food. It works particularly well for town-centre groups walking south towards Bloomfield Road.
WORTH KNOWINGOlder official guidance accepted away colours; current shirt rules were not found. It is a large, busy Promenade pub, so high-profile games may alter door policy.
PUB / BAR

The New Philly

68-70 Foxhall Road, Blackpool, FY1 5BL
Away access: check
BEST FORseafront groups · families · supporters wanting a large sports bar
MATCHDAY INTELA large, lively alternative on the current official visiting list. Recent venue material confirms it is open daily with a sizeable sports bar, family entertainment and food, making it useful for groups who want more than a quiet pint.
WORTH KNOWINGNo current away-colours policy was found. Entertainment and food offers change seasonally, so check the day’s programme rather than relying on summer promotions.
PUB / BAR

Bloomfield Road East Stand away concourse

Bloomfield Road, Seasiders Way, Blackpool, FY1 6JJ
0 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORlate arrivals · supporters avoiding pub queues · simple food after entering the stadium
MATCHDAY INTELThe dependable fallback after the turnstiles. Current away guidance lists hot dogs, several pie flavours and sausage rolls in the East Stand, while Blackpool have moved to Pukka as official pie partner for 2026/27.
WORTH KNOWINGThe detailed food list is from February 2026 and suppliers have since changed. Treat flavours and prices as variable rather than a guaranteed 2026/27 tariff.
PUB / BAR

Bloomfield Brewhouse

47 Ansdell Road, Blackpool, FY1 6PW
Away access: check
BEST FORa meal near the ground · real ale · supporters staying around Bloomfield Road
MATCHDAY INTELA useful near-ground food-and-pint lead with rooms upstairs. The pub is current, family friendly and serves home-cooked food; older official away guidance also listed it for visitors, although its present football door policy is less clear.
WORTH KNOWINGTreat away admission as needing a fixture check: current operation is verified, but the clearest explicit visiting-supporter evidence is older than the latest club pub list.
PUB / BAR

The Corner Flag at Blackpool FC Hotel

Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel, Bloomfield Road, Seasiders Way, Blackpool, FY1 6JJ
0 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORfootball-first overnight stay · hotel guests · supporters wanting a meal without another journey
MATCHDAY INTELFor a football-first overnight, the stadium hotel is the obvious base and its Corner Flag bar/restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking Bloomfield Road. The case is accommodation and convenience, not verified away-pub status.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not treat it as an away meeting pub: current matchday walk-in access and replica-shirt policy were not found. Booking is sensible.
