FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TO COVENTRY CITY

This fixture is still months away, on 15 May. Today's table is useful background, but it is not a prediction of the positions either side will hold on matchday. If Tottenham Hotspur are involved in a fight to stay up by then, this could be an away result with real weight behind it.

Tottenham Hotspur are 16th in the Premier League after 7 league games, with 6 points. Before the season, they were seen as European contenders.

Coventry City were 18th in the Premier League after 5 league games, with 3 points in the latest saved table. The pre-season outlook had them down as a side likely to face a difficult survival fight.

Tottenham Hotspur's last five recorded league games brought one win, three draws and one defeat: six points from a possible fifteen. Recent results give Coventry City three points from a possible fifteen, with one win and four defeats in their last five league games. Those are results available now; the form heading into this fixture may be very different.

Coventry is a historic city, so there is a reason to make time for the place as well as Coventry Building Society Arena. An earlier arrival or a night in town gives you more of the trip than the route straight to the turnstiles. For most overnight supporters, base yourself in central Coventry and travel out to the arena. Hotel Indigo is especially useful because it sits beside Coventry railway station, while the Telegraph puts you directly in the city-centre drinking and dining area. Choose the on-site DoubleTree when getting back to the room within minutes of full-time matters more than nightlife or price resilience. Check the matchday travel arrangements again nearer the fixture.

Make the football the reason to go and give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Check the confirmed kick-off and ticket arrangements before committing to travel or a hotel, then choose the plan that lets you support Tottenham Hotspur from the away end without rushing the whole day.

Table and form checked 21 October.

Hotel Indigo Coventry by IHG

Hotel Indigo Coventry by IHG

Friargate / Coventry railway station, city centre

The best all-round football stay in Coventry: a high-quality modern hotel beside the main station, close enough to walk into the centre for food and drinks, and unusually well placed for the short rail hop to Coventry Arena. It costs more than the budget chains, but the current review evidence is strong and the football logistics are cleaner than most city-centre options.

  • Coventry railway station is around two minutes away, with IHG advertising a seven-minute train ride to Coventry Arena.
  • Current Booking.com evidence was very strong at 9.1/10 from more than 1,100 reviews during this research pass.
The match journey

Straight-line distance is about 3.2 miles; practical road distance is longer. Walking is not the sensible default. The reason to choose this hotel is the station next door and the advertised seven-minute rail journey to Coventry Arena.

The trade-off

It is not beside the ground; the main advantage is the rail connection, and Coventry Arena's matchday train frequency is only hourly.

Friargate / Coventry railway station, city centre

Our view

The best all-round football stay in Coventry: a high-quality modern hotel beside the main station, close enough to walk into the centre for food and drinks, and unusually well placed for the short rail hop to Coventry Arena. It costs more than the budget chains, but the current review evidence is strong and the football logistics are cleaner than most city-centre options.

Why it suits this trip

  • Coventry railway station is around two minutes away, with IHG advertising a seven-minute train ride to Coventry Arena.
  • Current Booking.com evidence was very strong at 9.1/10 from more than 1,100 reviews during this research pass.
  • Recent 2026 Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and station convenience.
  • It gives travelling supporters a city-centre evening without committing to the arena's more event-led surroundings.
  • Sampled Premier League home-match Saturdays were broadly in line with its ordinary weekend baseline rather than showing the extreme arena-hotel spike seen at the DoubleTree.

Getting to the ground

Straight-line distance is about 3.2 miles; practical road distance is longer. Walking is not the sensible default. The reason to choose this hotel is the station next door and the advertised seven-minute rail journey to Coventry Arena.

Pubs and the evening

Quieter than staying directly around Corporation Street, but the central pub, restaurant and Skydome areas are walkable.

Arriving by train

Around a two-minute walk from Coventry station. IHG promotes a seven-minute train journey to Coventry Arena; the arena states matchday services at Coventry Arena are one train per hour in each direction, so supporters should check the timetable.

The trade-offs

  • It is not beside the ground; the main advantage is the rail connection, and Coventry Arena's matchday train frequency is only hourly.
  • There is no on-site hotel car park; IHG directs guests to Coventry Station multi-storey nearby.
  • It is at the station end of the centre rather than directly in the Broadgate/Corporation Street nightlife cluster.
  • Midweek rates in the sample were consistently upper-mid-market for Coventry.

Research price context

In the sampled baseline, roughly £157 midweek and £119 at weekends. The weekend sample was about 24% cheaper than the midweek sample rather than carrying a premium.

DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry Building Society Arena

DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry Building Society Arena

Coventry Building Society Arena / Longford

The undisputed convenience choice because it is part of the arena complex. You can leave the stadium and be back at the hotel in minutes. That convenience comes with two meaningful drawbacks: the surroundings are less useful for a full night out, and the room price can react very sharply to football and other arena demand.

  • It is on site at Coventry Building Society Arena; the venue itself promotes it as the hotel 'right in the heart of the action'.
  • There is no meaningful post-match transport problem if you are happy to stay in the arena area.
The match journey

The hotel is within the arena complex. Exact walk time depends on stadium gate and room entrance, but this is the only primary choice where the post-match return is effectively on foot across the site.

The trade-off

Match and event pricing can be dramatically higher than quiet-night pricing.

The undisputed convenience choice because it is part of the arena complex. You can leave the stadium and be back at the hotel in minutes. • It is on site at Coventry Building Society Arena; the venue itself promotes it as the hotel 'right in the heart of the action'.
  • There is no meaningful post-match transport problem if you are happy to stay in the arena area.
  • Coventry Arena station is around a five-minute walk away for onward travel.
  • Quiet non-event weekends in the sample were good value for a branded full-service hotel.

Getting to the ground

The hotel is within the arena complex. Exact walk time depends on stadium gate and room entrance, but this is the only primary choice where the post-match return is effectively on foot across the site.

Pubs and the evening

The arena has The Anecdote sports bar, casino and hotel bar/restaurant, with Arena Park retail nearby, but it is a captive event area rather than Coventry's main nightlife district.

Arriving by train

Coventry Arena station is about a five-minute walk from the ground/hotel area. The arena states one train per hour in each direction on matchdays, with double carriage capacity; the journey to Coventry main station is around eight minutes.

The trade-offs

  • Match and event pricing can be dramatically higher than quiet-night pricing.
  • The arena/retail setting offers fewer independent pubs, restaurants and late-evening choices than central Coventry.
  • Recent review evidence is much more mixed than at Hotel Indigo or the Telegraph, with recurring complaints around parking, event noise, food/value and some dated or maintenance-related room issues.
  • Coventry Arena station is close but the arena states matchday trains are only hourly.

Research price context

The sampled baseline was about £108 midweek and £89 at weekends, with a wide midweek range. Quiet weekends looked good value, but this property should be treated as event-sensitive rather than as a stable £90 hotel.

The trade-off is a less direct stadium journey than Hotel Indigo and no on-site parking.

  • It sits directly in Coventry city centre rather than at the edge of it.
  • The hotel has its own Generators rooftop bar, refreshed for 2026, and the surrounding streets contain a strong concentration of pubs, bars and restaurants.
The match journey

Straight-line distance is about 2.7 miles and practical road distance is around three miles. Use bus/taxi, or walk to Coventry station for the arena train, rather than treating this as a stadium-walk hotel.

The trade-off

It is around three miles from the stadium and is not a practical walk for most supporters.

Telegraph Hotel - Coventry

Corporation Street / Coventry city centre

Our view

The strongest choice if the hotel is part of the night out rather than just somewhere to sleep. It is properly central on Corporation Street, has its own rooftop bar and puts the Belgrade/Broadgate/Skydome side of Coventry within easy walking distance. The trade-off is a less direct stadium journey than Hotel Indigo and no on-site parking.

Why it suits this trip

  • It sits directly in Coventry city centre rather than at the edge of it.
  • The hotel has its own Generators rooftop bar, refreshed for 2026, and the surrounding streets contain a strong concentration of pubs, bars and restaurants.
  • Current reputation evidence is strong: Booking.com showed 8.9/10 from more than 4,000 reviews and Tripadvisor showed 4.5/5 with a 2026 Travellers' Choice award.
  • Recent reviews repeatedly praise room size, cleanliness, beds, staff and the central location.
  • Sampled Coventry home-match nights did not show the sharp matchday pricing seen at the on-site DoubleTree.

Getting to the ground

Straight-line distance is about 2.7 miles and practical road distance is around three miles. Use bus/taxi, or walk to Coventry station for the arena train, rather than treating this as a stadium-walk hotel.

Pubs and the evening

The hotel is itself part of the evening offer through Generators rooftop bar and is very well placed for central pubs, bars, restaurants and the Skydome side of the city.

Arriving by train

The hotel states Coventry main station is about 0.6 miles / 16 minutes on foot and Pool Meadow bus station about 0.3 miles / 5 minutes. This makes bus/taxi or a planned station connection more practical than relying on spontaneous rail.

The trade-offs

  • It is around three miles from the stadium and is not a practical walk for most supporters.
  • Coventry main station is about a 16-minute walk according to the hotel, so rail to Coventry Arena is less seamless than from Hotel Indigo.
  • There is no on-site parking.
  • Food-and-beverage service receives occasional inconsistent comments despite the overall strong hotel reputation.

Research price context

The sampled baseline was about £177 midweek and £122 at weekends. Weekend prices were about 31% lower than the sampled midweek average, making the hotel notably more attractive on some football weekends.

What to expect at Coventry City

All the key information for Tottenham Hotspur supporters heading to Coventry Building Society Arena — from the ground and atmosphere to food, access, parking and matchday practicalities.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Coventry Building Society Arena

The ground

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

It is a modern enclosed bowl, materially different from the tight residential feel of Highfield Road. Its football character has been accumulated rather than inherited: Singers' Corner, Jimmy Hill, Curtis and Sillett, the pre-match songs and the memory of returns from exile do much of the emotional work.

Recorded capacity
32,609

Views from the away section

Views from the away section are generally unrestricted; some supporter reports note the scoreboard can be difficult or impossible to see from certain visiting blocks.

Why the ground matters

The CBS Arena matters because Coventry spent years not controlling it, then twice played league home games elsewhere. Since the 2025 purchase, the same building carries a different meaning: it is no longer merely the post-Highfield Road stadium but the secured home of a club whose supporters learned not to take 'home' for granted.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Atmosphere & acoustics

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

Good followings can make plenty of noise, but the scale of the arena can make quieter fixtures feel less intense.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

Current Hull supporter guidance says Coventry's modern bowl can feel empty at lower crowds but becomes impressive when well filled.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Coventry Building Society Arena

Food & drink

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

Coventry is easier if you decide early whether the day starts in town or in Longford. Main-line rail arrivals should meet around Station Square/Friargate: Elle’s sits beside Coventry station for food, while the Flying Standard is the best-evidenced city-centre pub before the shuttle or local train to Coventry Arena. The CBS Arena is roughly four miles from the centre; away fans use South Stand blocks 6–9.

Food and drink around the ground

Near the ground, Coventry and Newcastle’s current guidance points visiting supporters to the Longford Engine, about 17 minutes away. Byatt’s is a useful brewery alternative and publishes fixture-specific opening; Dhillon’s is lively but remains Coventry’s official fan village, so visiting admission and colours are less certain. Inside, the South Stand is cashless and has food, beer and vegetarian/vegan choices.

Overnight, Friargate/Station Square suits trains and city-centre food; the arena’s DoubleTree suits a short post-match walk. For Newcastle on 12 October, turnstiles open at 18:30 and Byatt’s is open 16:00–20:00.

The Longford Engine

The strongest current away-pub recommendation. Both Coventry’s own visiting guidance and Newcastle’s 2026/27 fixture information direct travelling supporters here before the South Stand.

Byatt’s Brewhouse Bar

Byatt’s is a smaller brewery-tap option that deliberately opens for Coventry City home fixtures even when the bar would normally be closed. The Flying Standard

The Flying Standard is a practical city-centre option rather than a near-ground pub. Wetherspoon confirms it is open from 8am and serves food, while current Coventry ground guidance marks it as welcoming away supporters. A Cardiff City visiting guide has also previously directed away fans there, giving useful cross-supporter corroboration.

Sky Blue Tavern

Sky Blue Tavern is a strongly Coventry City-focused city-centre sports bar, created with Dhillon’s Brewery and serving Indian grills, curries and pub classics. It is a useful home-supporter base and currently operates a home-matchday shuttle towards Dhillon’s. There is not enough current evidence to present it as an away-fan pub.

Away admission and away colours are deliberately left unknown. Visiting supporters should not treat the venue's general opening hours as proof that opposition colours will be accepted on a particular fixture.

Coventry Building Society Arena - South Stand concourse

The South Stand is Coventry’s visiting-supporter section, so its concourse is the safest fallback for away fans who simply want food and drink after entry. The arena's current 2026/27 food page confirms an expanded food-and-drink offer for both home and away fans and that the venue is cashless.

Coventry City pre-match Family Zone

Coventry City's current 2026/27 home-ticket information confirms that the pre-match Family Zone continues outside the arena turnstiles. It includes a tuck shop and is clearly aimed at young supporters, making it useful home-matchday intelligence rather than a pub alternative.

Accessibility

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

Arrange accessible parking before you travel by emailing cbsarena@apcoa.com, giving the fixture and your needs. Blue Badge parking is limited and allocated through the arena operator. Do not assume that displaying a badge lets you use resident-permit streets or an unbooked arena space. Coventry City's 2025/26 visiting guide identifies Gate 25 for away wheelchair and ambulant supporters needing help.

Accessible journeys

The away wheelchair viewing platform is at the front of Block 8 in the South Stand. Contact accessibility@ccfc.co.uk to confirm your ticketed position, entry route and any commentary support for your match. Coventry main railway station offers category A step-free access with lifts. Coventry Arena station has category B1 access and may involve lengthy or steep ramps, so request rail assistance if that is a concern.

Before the match

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

Use Coventry railway station for most longer-distance journeys, then take the extended number 20 bus towards Foleshill Road near the arena. This direct station connection was introduced in August 2026. Check your return bus and connecting train before leaving home, particularly for evening games. Coventry Arena railway station is much closer to the ground, roughly five minutes from the stadium perimeter.

Its current fixture calendar lists specific 2026/27 matchday openings, CAMRA marks it family friendly, and current independent away-pub guidance says it welcomes both home and away supporters.

Planning your arrival

Be at the stadium perimeter before the busiest turnstile period.

Rail, Underground & tram

Trains normally run only hourly in each direction, with no separate football timetable. It is convenient if the departure times suit your journey, but less flexible after full-time. Travelling from Nuneaton or the Coventry–Nuneaton line can make Coventry Arena useful too. If you need an accessible railway journey, Coventry main station is step-free category A; Coventry Arena is category B1, with potentially long or steep ramps.

Recommended rail arrival

Station to ground & away entrance

Follow signs for the South Stand visiting section, usually Blocks 6–9, rather than walking to the main north entrance. Your away ticket identifies the correct block and entry point. Coventry City's away guide says the South Stand turnstiles normally open 90 minutes before kick-off. From Coventry Arena station or the Arena Shopping Park bus stops, follow the signed pedestrian route into the stadium site and continue towards the South Stand.

The shopping-park underpass brings you towards Car Park B; allow a further walk around the ground to reach the visiting turnstiles. After the match, segregation can change the way you leave. The host club instructs away supporters to go across Car Park B and turn left at the exit gate for the shopping park and railway station, rather than turning left immediately outside the away end.

Buses & local travel

The number 20 bus is a useful everyday connection between Coventry railway station and the Foleshill Road stops near the arena. Extended to the station in August 2026, the service is advertised seven days a week with evening operation. From Foleshill Road, follow signs towards Arena Shopping Park and the stadium. National Express service 3 also serves the subway by Arena Shopping Park from the city centre.

Services 20 and Stagecoach 148 use Foleshill Road, making them useful alternatives if the departure times suit. Check the operator for your matchday, especially on Sunday or for late finishes. Coventry City's 2025/26 matchday shuttle ran from the rail-replacement bus stop near Central Six, via White Street Coach Park, to Arena Shopping Park for £5 return.

Confirm that the shuttle and its boarding arrangements are operating for your particular 2026/27 fixture before relying on it.

Parking

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

Book an authorised matchday space rather than expecting free residential parking near Coventry Building Society Arena. Seven Arena permit zones restrict visitor parking during events, and no named unrestricted street within a practical walk could be confirmed. Turning up close to kick-off to search surrounding streets is a poor plan.

Parking & park-and-ride

Car Park C is the straightforward choice for an away supporter because Coventry City's visiting guide places it closest to the South Stand. Book through the arena's official parking operator before travelling. A listed October 2026 fixture advertises spaces from £20, but the actual price and car park availability depend on the match.

Arena Shopping Park is a legitimate alternative only if you buy the specific football parking product or satisfy its published retail conditions. Ordinary free parking on matchdays is limited to two hours. Longer parking requires proof of at least £50 in qualifying shopping-park purchases or a separate advance parking booking, so do not assume Tesco shopping gives you a free matchday space.

Allow about four to five hours for arrival, walking to the South Stand, the game and getting back to your car. Arrive at least 75 minutes before kick-off where your booking permits it, with extra time for busy fixtures. The arena publishes general opening windows but warns that each event may differ. If Car Park C is sold out, check authorised Arena Shopping Park event parking or another confirmed pre-booked off-site space rather than nearby estate roads.

After full-time, Car Park C and authorised shopping-park users must follow southbound diversions while the A444 is controlled. Booked parking secures the parking product, not an instant post-match departure.

Parking verdict
Booking advisable. No section-by-section legally unrestricted on-street area established within a practical 20–30 minute walk.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Coventry Building Society Arena

Worth knowing

Tottenham Hotspur at Coventry City

An away supporter is walking into a modern stadium with a much less straightforward emotional history than its architecture suggests. The useful Coventry details are the vocal south-east corner, the statues, the sky-blue visual language and the knowledge that this ground only became secure club property in 2025 after years when 'home' was the club's biggest off-field argument.

Matchday features

Large modern arena. Scoreboard-visibility caveat. Broad concourses

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

The south-east corner matters

Singers' Corner is the clearest home vocal focus and is near enough to the away section for exchanges to shape the feel of a lively match.

1987 is physically present

The Curtis-Sillett statue makes the cup win part of the approach to the current stadium rather than a story confined to Highfield Road or Wembley.

Jimmy Hill is everywhere once you know to look

Supporter interpretation

Statue, road name, colour, nickname and song all point back to the same figure.

This is not Highfield Road

Supporter interpretation

The modern bowl has a different texture from Coventry's old residential ground. For supporters, that difference is bound up with loss, exile and the long process of making the Arena feel like home.

The statues are not generic decoration

Supporter interpretation

Hill represents the club's 1960s reinvention; Curtis and Sillett represent the 1987 peak. Together they explain a large part of Coventry's historical self-image before you enter the turnstiles.

Singers' Corner

The name carries both a present-day atmospheric role and an accidental/intentional echo of Singers FC, the club's original name.

The Arena is now owned within the club's ownership structure

Supporter interpretation

That 2025 change is invisible architecturally but fundamental culturally after years of disputes, licences and exiles.

The contrast with Highfield Road

Supporter interpretation

Older supporters remember a century-old inner-city ground; the CBS is a newer bowl whose sense of place has had to be built through use, return, protest and memorials.

Jimmy Hill

His statue at the Arena and Jimmy Hill Way put the 1960s identity revolution into both stadium and city geography.

Curtis and Sillett

The 1987 pair stand near the south-east corner, close to Singers' Corner, giving the cup-winning era a visible place in today's ground.

Highfield Road Park

The former ground site is housing, but 2026 heritage work is trying to make the surviving green space a deliberate memory point rather than allowing the football geography to disappear.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

Away stand

Away safe standing

Coaches

Away coaches

If you are travelling on an organised away coach, follow your visiting club's joining instructions and remain with the group at arrival. Coventry City's away guide identifies Car Park B as the area used for away coaches, with a short walk from there to the South Stand.

Independent coach organisers should arrange their visit in advance rather than assuming they can drive into the stadium car parks. The host club's 2025/26 away guide asks organisers to liaise with their local police for parking arrangements, while the arena's parking operator manages event bookings.

After full-time, stewarded segregation directs visiting supporters across Car Park B. Confirm the precise collection bay with your operator, as police arrangements and the departure sequence can change for individual fixtures.

Buses

Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Arrange accessible parking before you travel by emailing cbsarena@apcoa.com, giving the fixture and your needs. Blue Badge parking is limited and allocated through the arena operator. Do not assume that displaying a badge lets you use resident-permit streets or an unbooked arena space.

Coventry City's 2025/26 visiting guide identifies Gate 25 for away wheelchair and ambulant supporters needing help.

After the match

After the match

Allow extra time to get away from the Coventry Building Society Arena after full-time. Visiting supporters are usually directed across Car Park B towards Arena Shopping Park and Coventry Arena station. You may not be able to take the direct left turn from the away-end exit because stewards separate the crowds.

If you parked in Car Park C or a booked Arena Shopping Park space, check the current traffic plan before leaving. The operator says cars can use a southbound exit towards Coventry city centre during the A444 closure, but northbound traffic must follow a diversion. Other on-site car parks may be held while coaches and pedestrians clear.

For rail travel, check the actual Coventry Arena departure rather than counting on a frequent shuttle train. The number 20 now links the arena area with Coventry railway station, and the club's previous shuttle served Arena Shopping Park. Build a generous margin into any last-train connection.

Away-fan departure route
Away supporters directed across Car Park B, then towards Arena Shopping Park and the local train station.
Road closure
A444 Jimmy Hill Way closes briefly after every Coventry City first-team home fixture.
Car Park C departure
Event-specific operator instructions allow southbound exit only during the closure.
A/B/D car park hold
Arena general guidance warns of post-event car park lockdown; precise football car-park release differs by fixture.
Coventry Arena rail frequency
Arena says hourly each direction on matchdays; no additional special service in host club away guide.
Bus alternative
NX 20 extended between Coventry station and arena area from late August 2026.

Where to stay

Stay in central Coventry if you want pubs, restaurants and an easier start to a longer-distance rail journey. The area around the city centre, Corporation Street and the railway station is a more useful all-round base than the retail park beside the ground. Travel to the arena separately by the number 20 bus or a planned rail connection.

For the shortest trip from bed to the turnstiles, choose the on-site DoubleTree by Hilton at Coventry Building Society Arena. You lose some city-centre choice, but you avoid a post-match journey back to your hotel. Check match-night room rates before deciding, as event pricing can vary.

If travelling home late by train, staying near Coventry railway station is particularly practical. It keeps your hotel close to the main rail hub, while the arena remains easy to reach by a planned bus or hourly local train.

Best all-round overnight area
Coventry city centre, especially near main railway station / Corporation Street for food and rail links.
Closest hotel
DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry Building Society Arena, on site.
City centre to stadium
Use direct number 20 bus extension or planned train to Coventry Arena; avoid assuming a walkable stadium from Coventry main railway station.

Matchday services and parking arrangements can change. Confirm current details before travelling.

PUB / BAR

The Flying Standard

2–10 Trinity Street, Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 1FL
Usually away-friendlyFamily friendlyFood available
BEST FORsupporters arriving early in Coventry city centre · groups wanting breakfast or a straightforward meal before travelling on · visiting supporters who prefer the wider city-centre choice
MATCHDAY INTELThe Flying Standard is a practical city-centre option rather than a near-ground pub. Wetherspoon confirms it is open from 8am and serves food, while current Coventry ground guidance marks it as welcoming away supporters. A Cardiff City visiting guide has also previously directed away fans there, giving useful cross-supporter corroboration.
WORTH KNOWINGIt still requires onward travel to the CBS Arena. Away-fan use is currently supported, but no current venue rule on away colours or high-risk fixture restrictions was found.
PUB / BAR

Byatt’s Brewhouse Bar

Unit 7 & 8, Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate, Lythalls Lane, Coventry, CV6 6FL
Usually away-friendlyFamily friendly
BEST FORsupporters who want a local brewery tap rather than a chain pub · home or away fans looking for a quieter alternative to the main fan village
MATCHDAY INTELByatt’s is a smaller brewery-tap option that deliberately opens for Coventry City home fixtures even when the bar would normally be closed. Its current fixture calendar lists specific 2026/27 matchday openings, CAMRA marks it family friendly, and current independent away-pub guidance says it welcomes both home and away supporters.
WORTH KNOWINGCheck the brewery's matchday calendar rather than relying on normal weekly hours, particularly for Saturday or Sunday games. No current published away-colours rule or dependable food offer was found.
PUB / BAR

Sky Blue Tavern

Hertford Place, Coventry, CV1 3JZ
Away access: checkFamily friendlyFood available
BEST FORCoventry City supporters wanting a city-centre matchday base · families wanting a sit-down meal with live sport · home supporters using the matchday shuttle towards Dhillon’s
MATCHDAY INTELSky Blue Tavern is a strongly Coventry City-focused city-centre sports bar, created with Dhillon’s Brewery and serving Indian grills, curries and pub classics. It is a useful home-supporter base and currently operates a home-matchday shuttle towards Dhillon’s. There is not enough current evidence to present it as an away-fan pub.
WORTH KNOWINGAway admission and away colours are deliberately left unknown. Visiting supporters should not treat the venue's general opening hours as proof that opposition colours will be accepted on a particular fixture.
PUB / BAR

The Longford Engine

270 Bedworth Road, Longford, Coventry, CV6 6BP
17 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORclearest away pub · near-ground pint · groups
MATCHDAY INTELThe strongest current away-pub recommendation. Both Coventry’s own visiting guidance and Newcastle’s 2026/27 fixture information direct travelling supporters here before the South Stand.
WORTH KNOWINGAway access is well evidenced, but no current published colours rule was found. Food information conflicts, so eat elsewhere unless the kitchen is confirmed.
PUB / BAR

Dhillon's Brewery Fan Village

Unit 14A, Hales Industrial Estate, Rowley's Green Lane, Coventry, CV6 6AT

BEST FORlocal beer · lively atmosphere · experienced away supporters
MATCHDAY INTELA lively ground-side option with genuine recent away-fan use, but it is still Coventry City's official fan village. Treat it as mixed evidence rather than a guaranteed away pub.
WORTH KNOWINGA Brighton supporter used it successfully in September 2026, but no published away-colours policy exists. Admission may tighten for particular fixtures.

The Flying Standard

2-10 Trinity Street, Coventry, CV1 1FL
Away access: checkFamily friendly
BEST FORtrain arrivals · breakfast · meeting point · city-centre pint
MATCHDAY INTELThe best-evidenced city-centre pub for rail arrivals. It opens early, serves food and has current ground-guide support for visiting fans before the onward trip to the arena.
WORTH KNOWINGIt is nowhere near the turnstiles: leave enough time for the shuttle, taxi or Coventry-to-Coventry Arena train. Away-colours policy remains unverified.

Byatt's Brewhouse Bar

Unit 7-8, Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate, Lythalls Lane, Coventry, CV6 6FL

BEST FORreal ale · brewery tap · mixed supporters · quieter pre-match
MATCHDAY INTELA useful alternative to the main fan village. Byatt's deliberately opens for Coventry home games, and visiting-supporter reviews describe a friendly welcome for away fans.

PUB / BAR

Bull & Anchor

233 Wheelwright Lane, Ash Green, Coventry, CV7 9HN
21 min walkAway access: checkFamily friendly
BEST FORdrivers · proper pub meal · early arrivals · televised sport
MATCHDAY INTELA useful north-side choice if you want a full pub meal before walking in. Current ground guidance names it as away-friendly, and the venue is geared around sport.
WORTH KNOWINGIt is less convenient for main-station arrivals than the Longford Engine or city centre. No current published rule on away colours was found.
PUB / BAR

Castle Grounds

BEST FORcity-centre pint · groups · early kick-off on TV
MATCHDAY INTELA sensible town-centre option when you want to drink before travelling to the arena. Visit Coventry explicitly points football visitors here for a pre-match pint.
WORTH KNOWINGNo current venue rule on opposition colours was found. Treat it as a city-centre fallback, not a designated away pub.

The South Stand is Coventry’s visiting-supporter section, so its concourse is the safest fallback for away fans who simply want food and drink after entry. The arena's current 2026/27 food page confirms an expanded food-and-drink offer for both home and away fans and that the venue is cashless.

WORTH KNOWINGExact South Stand menu lines and alcohol availability can vary, and the published arena page does not provide a specific away-colours rule. Children under 3 are not admitted to the stadium and under-14s must be accompanied, according to Brighton's August 2026 visiting-club ticket information.
