Leonardo Hotel Brighton
Brighton Station / New England Quarter
Our best all-round base for an Amex away day. Leonardo Hotel Brighton is beside Brighton Station for direct Falmer trains, while North Laine’s pubs and food are downhill on foot. It prioritises matchday convenience over seafront atmosphere; recent room reviews are mixed.
- Beside Brighton railway station, with only a short walk between the hotel entrance and station concourse.
- Direct trains from Brighton to Falmer generally take around 6–10 minutes; Falmer station is by the stadium.
For the Amex, use the neighbouring Brighton station for a direct train to Falmer (generally around 6–10 minutes on board), then follow stadium signs. The previously saved 3.2-mile straight-line estimate was not independently recalculated; do not treat it as walking distance.
The station-side New England Quarter is a practical base rather than a seafront stay; the beach and central Lanes are further away on foot.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.

The Downs Hotel
Woodingdean
The Downs Hotel is a practical choice if you want to stay outside central Brighton, have the car nearby and eat or drink in the pub downstairs. It has rooms in Woodingdean, on-site parking and a bus stop served by route 22 towards the city centre. For the football, the club confirms a wide, step-free shared path from the Bexhill Road end of Woodingdean towards Falmer.
- A working pub with guest rooms in Woodingdean, closer to the Falmer area than Brighton seafront accommodation.
- On-site parking is confirmed by the hotel and Booking.com; guests should confirm arrangements if leaving a vehicle during the match.
Booking.com’s indexed listing places the hotel about 2 miles from the Amex, a location estimate rather than a measured walking route. Brighton & Hove Albion describes a wide, flat, step-free shared path between the Bexhill Road car park in Woodingdean and a point opposite Falmer Farm Shop near the stadium.
Not the nearest room to the stadium: Ruby Pub & Hotel advertises a shorter walk, although its indexed Booking.com score is lower.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.

Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront
The Lanes / seafront
The best of the three if the post-match evening is part of the trip rather than an afterthought. The hotel sits on the seafront with The Lanes immediately behind it, so restaurants, pubs and bars are available without another taxi or bus. It also has a stronger leisure-hotel feel than the station pick.
- Direct seafront position with The Lanes immediately behind the hotel.
- Strong recent reputation: Booking.com 8.5/10 from more than 10,000 reviews in the sampled results and strong 2026 Tripadvisor feedback.
Approximate straight-line distance. The practical football route is the roughly 15-minute walk to Brighton Station followed by the train to Falmer.
Roughly a 15-minute walk uphill to Brighton Station before the train to Falmer.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
If you are driving, put the postcode of your actual booked car park into the sat-nav, not simply the stadium. The Amex is beside the A27 at Falmer, with access from the A23/A27 for western approaches. Car Park B is BN1 9PW; Car Park C is BN1 9RB and requires the Stanmer Park/Stoney Mere Way approach. Follow the instructions attached to your parking pass.
Matchdays bring traffic management around the A27, Village Way and local entrances. For the 15 October 2026 European fixture, the club reports an A27 westbound Patcham entry slip/lane closure after the match; it is not a permanent rule. Check the current fixture notice before setting off, especially for midweek games and rearranged kick-offs.
- Stadium postcode
- American Express Stadium, Village Way, Falmer, BN1 9BL.
- Car Park A
- BN1 9BL, at stadium near East Stand; prebook required.
- Car Park B
- The Bridge, BN1 9PW; prebook required.
- Car Park C
- University of Sussex, BN1 9RB, access via Stoney Mere Way and the Stanmer Park entrance.
- Fixture roadworks example
- 15 October 2026: post-match A27 westbound Patcham entry slip and lane closure; not asserted for later fixtures.
- Lewes Road red route
- Lewes Road has seven-day red-route stopping restrictions; use only signed permitted bays, not red lines.

Rail, Underground & tram
Travel to Falmer station for the Amex. From Brighton, the train takes around seven to ten minutes, with the stadium beside Falmer station. Coming from London or Gatwick, change at Brighton; arriving from East Sussex, Lewes is a useful alternative approach. Aim to leave Brighton at least an hour before kick-off because queues build well before the match.
For 2026/27 Premier League home fixtures, your match ticket covers eligible trains within the club’s travel zone from three and a half hours before kick-off until three and a half hours after the final whistle. Start your journey within that window and buy a ticket to the zone boundary if travelling further. Cup and friendly arrangements need checking individually.
- Preferred station
- Falmer (FMR), next to the stadium; approach the South Stand for visiting supporters.
- Brighton to Falmer rail journey
- About 7 minutes on the away-club guide; allow extra time for boarding and the walk to the South Stand.
- From Brighton
- Southern rail service toward Lewes/Falmer; plan to board around one hour before kick-off.
- From Lewes
- Falmer is one stop toward Brighton.
- 2026/27 free train travel
- Premier League ticket includes train travel within the advertised travel zone, starting 3.5 hours before kick-off and journey started no later than 3.5 hours after final whistle.
- Non-league fixture terms
- Free travel may not apply to cups and friendlies as a general rule; the 15 October 2026 European fixture explicitly includes it.
Station to ground & away entrance
From Falmer station, follow the signposted stadium route towards the Amex. The platforms are close to the North Stand, but visiting supporters need the South Stand at the opposite end. Allow longer than the short station-to-stadium estimate: the away section is around 600 yards from the station, and crowds slow the walk.
Follow signs and stewards around the outside of the ground to the South Stand gates. The club’s visiting-supporter guide identifies gates 28, 29 and 31 around that end, but use the turnstile printed on your own ticket. Turnstiles normally open two hours before kick-off; the advertised 2027 away-end relocation will change this guidance.
- 2026/27 visiting-supporter area
- South Stand; ticketed gate determines exact turnstile.
- Distance from Falmer station to away section
- Approximately 600 yards (supporters’ club estimate); do not confuse with station-to-nearest-stadium-wall distance.
- Gate numbers
- The club guide maps South Lower gates 28, 29 and 31; exact entry is on the match ticket.
- Turnstile opening
- Normally two hours before kick-off; fixture guidance can vary.
- Planned change
- Away fans expected to relocate to south-west corner in 2027/28, with safe standing; recheck future tickets.
Rail
Sat, 20 Feb 2027 · 15:00 kick-off
Reach Falmer Rail Station by 13:20. The departure is a rough planning allowance, not a scheduled train.
Falmer station is beside the stadium; match tickets may include travel-zone bus and rail arrangements subject to the current season's terms
This allows for the final whistle, leaving the ground and reaching the station.
These are matchday planning targets, not confirmed train services. Check the timetable and the last train home before booking.

Coaches
Away coaches
If you are travelling on an official away-supporters’ coach, follow your organiser’s instructions to the Amex coach park beside the South Stand. This gives you a much shorter walk to the visitors’ turnstiles than arriving from Falmer station. There are steps between the coach park and the lower entrances, with a lift available.
Independent coach and minibus organisers should arrange access before travelling. Brighton publishes a registration form and directs coach arrivals using matchday stewards. Do not arrange an informal pick-up on Village Way or Woollards Way. Confirm your return meeting point with your organiser before the match, as the post-match coach exit can be held while pedestrians clear.
- Away coach arrival
- Coach park adjacent to the South Stand visiting section; steps and lift are present.
- Independent coach registration
- Club requires organisers to submit a coach/minibus form ahead of the fixture.
- Pickup/dropoff prohibitions
- No stopping for informal pick-up/drop-off on Village Way or Woollards Way.
- Coach exit delays
- On some fixtures coach departures are delayed by circulation controls; check the fixture travel bulletin.
Buses
Buses & local travel
Use Brighton & Hove Buses’ football services if a bus suits where you are staying. The 3X calls at Brighton Station and stops outside the stadium, while the 25 serves Falmer station. Routes 28 and 29 approach Falmer from Lewes; the 23 links eastern Brighton and Woodingdean. Check the service and return stop for your fixture rather than assuming a normal timetable.
For eligible Premier League matches, show your match ticket on participating local buses within the free travel window. The 2026/27 window begins three and a half hours before kick-off, and your return journey must start within three and a half hours after the final whistle. Special-event services and coverage can differ, particularly for cup matches.
- 3X bus
- Hangleton/Hove Station/Brighton Station/Lewes Road to stadium, limited stop.
- 25 bus
- Serves Falmer station.
- 23 bus
- Serves Whitehawk, Kemptown and Woodingdean links.
- 28 and 29 buses
- Falmer station connections from Lewes; routes extend farther east/north.
- Weekday additional routes
- 25X and 29A are listed for weekday games; confirm your fixture.
- Included bus travel
- Albion match tickets accepted on Brighton & Hove bus services unless a ticket states otherwise; 3.5-hour periods apply.
Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Use Falmer station if you need the closest rail arrival, but arrange rail assistance if ramps, slopes or crowding could be difficult. National Rail lists step-free access to both platforms through ramps, with no station lifts. Step-free does not mean level boarding, so arrange any train-to-platform help through Passenger Assist and allow more time for the longer route to the South Stand.
For driving, contact Brighton & Hove Albion’s Supporter Services to register your Blue Badge and book an accessible space. Qualifying pre-booked accessible parking is advertised at half the standard price. Park-and-ride sites have accessible buses, and the coach-park arrival includes a lift to concourse level. An accessible shuttle operates from the University of Sussex C5 drop-off point.
- Falmer station accessibility
- National Rail category B1: step-free access to all platforms may require long/steep ramps; no lifts.
- Rail assistance
- Passenger Assist and staff support available; ramp-assisted boarding may be required.
- Accessible stadium parking
- 50% discount when pre-booked for eligible Blue Badge holder, after badge is supplied and fan account updated; display badge.
- Accessible drop-off
- University of Sussex Car Park 5/C5 by sports hall, accessible shuttle to stadium coach park.
- Park-and-ride accessibility
- Each of two main P&R sites normally has at least one wheelchair-accessible bus, with lift from stadium coach park.
- Woodingdean shared walking path
- Officially described as wide, flat, step-free tarmac, Bexhill Road to opposite Falmer Farm Shop; does not establish any legal car parking.
After the match
After the match
Expect a queue after the match whichever way you leave. Falmer station is closest, but the Brighton-bound platforms can take time to clear, so allow a generous margin for onward connections. Some post-match services do not stop at Moulsecoomb or London Road, particularly after busy fixtures. Check the Southern departures and do not book a tight last train from Brighton.
If you are using park-and-ride, return directly to the stadium coach park and join the correct shuttle queue. For the 15 October 2026 fixture, the final bus is scheduled 90 minutes after the whistle. Car Park B has also drawn fan reports of lengthy exit queues. Delaying departure at the stadium may help with rail crowds, but check the last shuttle and parking exit deadline first.
- Falmer queue after final whistle
- Supporters’ club reports long managed queues, sometimes up to around 50min; reported experience, not an assured wait.
- Intermediate stops
- Some post-match Falmer trains skip Moulsecoomb and London Road; check train calling pattern.
- Shuttle last departure example
- 15 October 2026: park-and-ride buses depart last 90min after final whistle.
- Car Park B experience
- January 2025 Reddit commenter suggested approximately 45 minutes to get out; this is anecdotal.
- Club car parks closing
- Latest general guidance closes B/C 2 hours after final whistle; check specific parking pass.
- Free transport deadline
- For Premier League tickets start homebound travel by 3.5 hours after final whistle within covered zone.
Where to stay
Stay near Brighton station or in North Laine if the football journey matters most. You can reach Falmer by a short train trip and have the city’s pubs and restaurants within walking distance of your hotel. It makes more sense than staying beside the Amex, where accommodation and evening choice are limited.
Choose The Lanes or the central seafront if you are making a weekend of the visit and want more choice after the match. You will have a longer walk or local transfer back to Brighton station. Lewes is another sensible base if you are approaching from the east, with a one-stop train to Falmer. Leave time for the return queue whichever side you stay.
- Most useful matchday base
- Brighton Station/North Laine for rail access to Falmer plus city-centre amenities.
- Alternative city-centre base
- The Lanes or seafront for evening leisure; allow extra walk or bus back to Brighton station.
- Alternative eastern base
- Lewes: one-stop onward train to Falmer; check matchday services and final train.

For supporters arriving by train, Brighton station is the sensible meeting point rather than Falmer: the Railway Bell and Evening Star are on Surrey Street by the station, while quick food is available down Queens Road and in North Laine. Brighton’s own guide says trains to Falmer take about seven minutes and advises boarding roughly an hour before kick-off because matchday services get very busy. The New Oak is the clearest dedicated away pub, with its own visiting-supporter bar, but it sits in Patcham rather than on the Brighton–Falmer rail flow, so it suits coaches, drivers and pre-arranged groups better. Around the Amex itself, do not bank on a normal pub crawl: current supporter guidance says the Swan is home-only on matchdays, and official information about The Terrace conflicts. Visiting fans enter the South Stand, where cashless concessions provide food and drink. Pub admission and colours can tighten for particular fixtures, especially Brighton–Crystal Palace, so derby-day arrangements need a fresh check.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
Vudu Food x Weirdough Pizza
One of the most practical food stops for rail travellers: an independent grab-and-go operation on Queens Road, a stone’s throw from Brighton station, built around pizza slices, loaded fries and smokehouse fillings.
Burger Brothers
A compact North Road burger shop, preparing beef, veggie and chicken burgers to order. Worth a visit if you have time, but local diners report queues and seating is limited, so allow longer than a simple grab-and-go stop.
La Choza
A Gloucester Road Mexican restaurant offering tacos, burritos and quesadillas, including vegetarian and vegan choices. Better when you have time for a sit-down meal; walk-ins can face a queue and groups of 7–15 should enquire about booking.
Cafe Coho Brighton Station
A station-side Brighton cafe open from 7am, with coffee, counter treats and brunch seating for 40. Good for breakfast before catching the Falmer train; check cooked-food service times because its linked menu PDF is old.
Amex South Stand away concourse
If you are heading straight to the Amex, use the South Stand away concourse for food. Cashless kiosks serve before kick-off and at half-time, with pies, hot food, drinks and snacks; the selection depends on the kiosk.
