FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW SHREWSBURY TOWN TO CHELTENHAM TOWN

This fixture is still months away, on 1 May. Today's table is useful background, but it is not a prediction of the positions either side will hold on matchday. If Shrewsbury Town are involved in the promotion picture by then, this could be an away result with real weight behind it.

Shrewsbury Town are 8th in League Two after 12 league games, with 17 points. Before the season, they were seen as outsiders for the play-offs.

Cheltenham Town are 5th in League Two after 12 league games, with 18 points.

Shrewsbury Town's last five recorded league games brought three wins, one draw and one defeat: ten points from a possible fifteen. Recent results give Cheltenham Town six points from a possible fifteen, with two wins and three defeats in their last five league games. Those are results available now; the form heading into this fixture may be very different.

The destination is EV Charger Points Stadium in Cheltenham. Work back from kick-off when deciding whether this is a day trip or a night away. For the best all-round football weekend, the north side of the town centre around the Brewery Quarter is the strongest compromise: it keeps the ground realistically walkable while putting food and drinks on the doorstep. Pittville is better if the shortest possible walk to Whaddon Road matters most. The Promenade/Montpellier side is better if the evening after the match matters more than the walk to the ground. Check the matchday travel arrangements again nearer the fixture.

Make the football the reason to go and give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Check the confirmed kick-off and ticket arrangements before committing to travel or a hotel, then choose the plan that lets you support Shrewsbury Town from the away end without rushing the whole day.

Table and form checked 22 October.

Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham Town Centre by IHG

Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham Town Centre by IHG

North town centre / Brewery Quarter

The strongest all-round choice for a football trip. It is not the nearest hotel to Whaddon Road, but it gets the balance right: the ground remains walkable, the Brewery Quarter is directly opposite, Booking.com coverage is strong, recent reputation evidence is solid and ordinary non-event prices in the sample were competitive for central Cheltenham.

  • Directly opposite the Brewery Quarter, so food and drinks do not require another journey after the match.
  • Still close enough to Whaddon Road for a practical walk rather than automatically needing a taxi.
The match journey

0.7 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates, not a routed walking distance. The 18-minute walk is an editorial route estimate for planning; live mapping should be checked on the day.

The trade-off

It is appreciably farther from the ground than Cotswold Grange.

WHY STAY HERE?

Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham Town Centre by IHG

North town centre / Brewery Quarter

Our view

The strongest all-round choice for a football trip. It is not the nearest hotel to Whaddon Road, but it gets the balance right: the ground remains walkable, the Brewery Quarter is directly opposite, Booking.com coverage is strong, recent reputation evidence is solid and ordinary non-event prices in the sample were competitive for central Cheltenham.

Why it suits this trip

  • Directly opposite the Brewery Quarter, so food and drinks do not require another journey after the match.
  • Still close enough to Whaddon Road for a practical walk rather than automatically needing a taxi.
  • Large, established property with substantial recent review volume on both Booking.com and Tripadvisor.
  • Complimentary Express Start breakfast is a useful football-weekend inclusion and reduces the need to find breakfast separately.

Getting to the ground

0.7 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates, not a routed walking distance. The 18-minute walk is an editorial route estimate for planning; live mapping should be checked on the day.

Pubs and the evening

The hotel is directly opposite the Brewery Quarter, giving immediate access to a concentrated group of bars, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Arriving by train

The station is on the south-west side of the centre, so this is not the closest rail hotel. With luggage, taxi or local bus is more practical; without luggage the route is walkable through the centre.

The trade-offs

  • It is appreciably farther from the ground than Cotswold Grange.
  • Parking is off-site in the adjacent NCP rather than free hotel parking; the hotel advertises a guest discount.
  • Rooms are functional rather than characterful, and recent reviews include occasional minor maintenance/air-conditioning complaints.

Research price context

Around £95–£120 on the sampled ordinary midweek dates. The sampled non-event Friday nights were lower at roughly £80–£95, although Cheltenham festival/racing dates can be far more expensive.

Cotswold Grange

Cotswold Grange

Pittville

The closest practical hotel choice in the researched set and the one to choose when the walk to Whaddon Road matters most. It is a proper independent hotel in quiet Pittville rather than a bare-bones stadium stay, with strong recent feedback, parking and a much shorter matchday walk than the central choices.

  • The published hotel and stadium coordinates put it only about 0.2 miles apart as the crow flies.
  • Quiet Pittville location makes the pre-match and post-match return straightforward without sacrificing hotel quality.
The match journey

0.2 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates. The approximately 8-minute on-foot figure is an editorial route estimate rather than live navigation; allow a little more at busy match times.

The trade-off

The town-centre/Brewery Quarter nightlife is a longer walk than from the Holiday Inn Express or Queens.

WHY STAY HERE?

Cotswold Grange

Pittville

Our view

The closest practical hotel choice in the researched set and the one to choose when the walk to Whaddon Road matters most. It is a proper independent hotel in quiet Pittville rather than a bare-bones stadium stay, with strong recent feedback, parking and a much shorter matchday walk than the central choices.

Why it suits this trip

  • The published hotel and stadium coordinates put it only about 0.2 miles apart as the crow flies.
  • Quiet Pittville location makes the pre-match and post-match return straightforward without sacrificing hotel quality.
  • Recent reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, staff, breakfast and parking.
  • Booking.com coverage is verified, so it fits the current MatchdayHotels affiliate workflow without compromising the editorial choice.

Getting to the ground

0.2 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates. The approximately 8-minute on-foot figure is an editorial route estimate rather than live navigation; allow a little more at busy match times.

Pubs and the evening

Good for a quiet return after the match, but supporters wanting a concentrated late-evening choice will usually walk back towards the Brewery Quarter or central Cheltenham.

Arriving by train

This is on the opposite side of the centre from the station. A taxi or bus is more sensible with luggage; choose it for stadium convenience, not rail convenience.

The trade-offs

  • The town-centre/Brewery Quarter nightlife is a longer walk than from the Holiday Inn Express or Queens.
  • The historic building has no lift, which matters with heavy luggage or reduced mobility.
  • Recent reviews also note no air conditioning and occasional small maintenance/TLC issues.

Research price context

Roughly £105–£125 on the sampled ordinary midweek dates and around £140–£145 on the sampled non-event Friday nights.

The Queens Hotel

The Queens Hotel

The Promenade / Montpellier

The nightlife/food choice rather than the stadium-proximity choice. It sits on the Promenade beside the Montpellier/Imperial Gardens side of central Cheltenham, so supporters have a stronger restaurant and bar evening around them and an easier walk from Cheltenham Spa station. The compromise is a materially longer walk to Whaddon Road and a more premium, event-sensitive price.

  • Excellent central position for the Promenade, Montpellier and nearby bars/restaurants.
  • Official hotel guidance puts Cheltenham Spa station around a 15–20 minute walk away.
The match journey

1.1 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates. Around 25–30 minutes on foot is a planning estimate, not live routing. This is the primary option where evening location is being prioritised over the shortest stadium walk.

The trade-off

Longest walk to Whaddon Road of the three primary recommendations.

The compromise is a materially longer walk to Whaddon Road and a more premium, event-sensitive price.

Why it suits this trip

  • Excellent central position for the Promenade, Montpellier and nearby bars/restaurants.
  • Official hotel guidance puts Cheltenham Spa station around a 15–20 minute walk away.
  • Substantial review volume with consistently strong location scores.
  • A more characterful full-service stay than the chain options if the evening and hotel experience matter.

Getting to the ground

1.1 miles is the straight-line distance from published coordinates. Around 25–30 minutes on foot is a planning estimate, not live routing. This is the primary option where evening location is being prioritised over the shortest stadium walk.

Pubs and the evening

This is the strongest of the primary hotels for a broader central evening: restaurants, bars and the Montpellier/Promenade districts are immediately around the hotel.

Arriving by train

The hotel’s official directions state the station is around a 15–20 minute walk or 10–15 minutes by bus.

The trade-offs

  • Longest walk to Whaddon Road of the three primary recommendations.
  • Hotel parking is charged; the official site states £17 per night for guests.
  • Recent 2026 Tripadvisor reviews contain a small but meaningful cluster of complaints about air-conditioning/noise, maintenance and inconsistent service, so it should not be presented as flawless.
  • Rates can jump sharply on festival/event dates.

Research price context

About £128–£135 on the sampled ordinary midweek dates and roughly £118–£140 on the sampled non-event Friday nights. Major Cheltenham event nights can be dramatically higher.

What to expect at Cheltenham Town

All the key information for Shrewsbury Town supporters heading to EV Charger Points Stadium — from the ground and atmosphere to food, access, parking and matchday practicalities.

#Salop#ShrewsburyTown#SalopCast
YOUR AWAY DAY · EV Charger Points Stadium

The ground

Shrewsbury Town at Cheltenham Town

Compact, constrained by its surroundings and developed in stages rather than to a single masterplan. The result is a recognisably lower-league ground: stands of different ages and proportions, houses close by, a singing pocket rather than a continuous end-to-end wall of noise, and enough practical infrastructure that supporters can point to items their own schemes paid for.

Views from the away section

Away views, legroom and facilities are consistently rated very good.

Why the ground matters

Whaddon Road is the club's strongest physical continuity. Cheltenham's modern rise changed leagues, staffing and ownership, but it happened at a small residential ground whose imperfections make the scale of those achievements easier to read.

Stand features

Recent club documentation identifies Block 1 as the singing section associated with the 1887 Red Army.

Current ground guides normally place visiting supporters behind one goal. Allocation and stand sponsorship should be checked for the specific fixture because these details can change.

The ground's constrained site and mixed stand forms are more informative than a capacity number: it looks like a place enlarged as the club grew.

500 Club money has gone into real operating and spectator infrastructure, not just commemorative projects.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · EV Charger Points Stadium

Atmosphere & acoustics

Shrewsbury Town at Cheltenham Town

Small scale helps a good following create noise.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

Whaddon Road can be lively with a strong travelling following, but supporter reviews also note that the relatively open ground does not always hold noise particularly well, so atmosphere depends heavily on crowd size and where the noise is generated.

Atmosphere varies with attendance, allocation and the fixture; treat this as supporter experience rather than a guarantee.

Cheltenhamshire/tractor chant

National reporters documented a deliberately rustic, self-mocking chant in 1999. It is useful colour for that period but should not be published as if verified current repertoire.

Bryan Jacob Cup / Supporters' Player of the Year

An annual supporter vote that turns the history of fan ownership into a recurring award.

Block 1 singing section

Recent club documentation identifies Block 1 of the Colin Farmer Stand with the 1887 Red Army atmosphere group.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Food & drink

Shrewsbury Town at Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Spa is the awkward part of this away day: the station is just over two miles from Whaddon Road, roughly a 40-minute walk through the centre. DEYA is the easiest rail-arrival meeting point, two minutes from the station; otherwise move into town, where the High Street/Brewery Quarter also suits overnight stays, then work towards Kemble Brewery Inn or Airs & Graces before the ground.

Food and drink around the ground

The Robins Nest still welcomes visiting supporters, subject to capacity, and an away fanzone normally operates beside the Hazlewoods Stand turnstiles at Whaddon Road Bowls Club. That fanzone is not guaranteed: it was shut for Grimsby in September 2026 because the bowls club had a match. Away supporters are in the covered Hazlewoods Stand and cannot buy alcohol once inside.

Colours policies are not clearly published at the recommended pubs, so treat them as unknown rather than assumed. For food, Airs & Graces, Havanas and Simpsons give stronger current evidence than the concourse, where September 2026 reports confirmed hot food but specifically no pies.

Robins Nest

The dependable ground-side option: visiting supporters are still admitted, hot food is served before Saturday games and an overflow bar can open when weather permits.

Station to ground & away entrance

Go to the Hazlewoods Stand on Whaddon Road. The away entrance is tucked between the bowling club and a house, rather than at the stadium's main car-park gate. Look for the away signs and red ticket booth, and check your own ticket for any changed allocation. If you walk from the centre, follow Winchcombe Street into Prestbury Road, then turn right onto Whaddon Road. The club estimates 20–30 minutes from central Cheltenham.

From a Parklands parking space, make sure you walk around to the Whaddon Road away entrance rather than entering by the home stands on Wyman's Road.

Buses & local travel

From Cheltenham town centre, take Stagecoach A from Clarence Street towards Prestbury and get off at Wyman's Road. The club's matchday directions give around ten minutes on the bus, followed by a short walk to Whaddon Road. Confirm the stop for the return journey before kick-off. The D/E routes are useful when coming directly from Cheltenham Spa station, although they leave you a longer final walk from Anlaby Court.

Arle Court also offers a free-to-park transport hub with a paid route 100 into town on its operating days. It is not a direct stadium shuttle, so allow time for the onward walk or change to the A bus.

Parking

Shrewsbury Town at Cheltenham Town

Book a stadium space if one is offered for your fixture, or head to a designated car park. Free street parking is possible farther out, but it is not a dependable plan around Whaddon Road. The club warns against relying on nearby residential streets, and matchday restrictions are enforced. Parklands Community Centre, accessed from Wyman's Road, is the closest practical fallback.

Parking & park-and-ride

It advertises 120 spaces and accepts home and away supporters on a first-come, first-served basis. Its published prices are old, so check the current cash-only charge before travelling. You must walk around to the away entrance on Whaddon Road. Gloucestershire County Council has removed resident-permit controls from Eldon Road, Eldon Avenue and several other streets. However, it also has event-day controls near Pittville Circus Road.

No particular side or bay has been confirmed as unrestricted for a whole match, so do not rely on those roads as guaranteed free parking. For predictable paid parking, try Pittville Pump Room, which costs £6 for more than three hours, or NCP Portland Street East, around 10–15 minutes from the stadium according to the club. Private driveways on Hayes Road, Cromwell Road and Overbrook Drive are also bookable through JustPark, subject to availability.

On Sundays, Bath Terrace council car park is free and allows an all-day stay, though the walk is longer. Allow at least four hours for a match, including both walks, getting in and the journey back to your car. Do not use Sainsbury's or Tesco customer parking without explicit permission and enough permitted time.

Parking verdict
Use authorised car park or prebooked off-street space; no named unrestricted roadside bay verified for a full match.
Free option — Bath Terrace car park
Council surface car park at GL50 2BA: published charging hours Mon–Sat 08:00–18:00; no Sunday charge, all-day maximum stay.
Walk — Bath Terrace
Longer walk across Cheltenham town centre than Portland Street; precise car-park-to-Hazlewoods time not verified.
Legal restrictions — named Zone 15 roads
Permit controls removed from Eldon Road, Eldon Avenue, Beechurst Avenue, Oak Manor Drive, All Saints Terrace, Teme Road and parts of Hales/Hewlett Roads in March 2025; other yellow-line and bay restrictions may still apply.
More practical details 17
Legal restrictions — Zone 15 near Pittville
Northern zone generally Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00, southern zone Mon–Sun 08:00–20:00, with football event-day restrictions near Pittville Circus Road. Do not generalise to every road or bay.
Legal restrictions — 2026 effective status
Changes from 2025 adopted permanently by 9 September 2026 Gloucestershire County Council order.
Matchday availability — local streets
Club and September 2026 away guidance describe limited nearby street spaces, commonly taken before 2pm; July 2026 fans report competition and restrictions.
Matchday supporter reports — Selkirk Gardens

Paid fallback — NCP Portland Street East
Portland Street East, GL52 2NX; operator lists bookable car park, club estimates 10–15 minutes to stadium; confirm current online tariff.
Paid fallback — NCP Brewery Quarter
NCP-operated car park on Monson Avenue GL50 4EJ; pre-bookable; check current price and foot distance.
Paid fallback — private driveways
JustPark lists Hayes Road, Overbrook Drive, Albert Road and Cromwell Road private spaces with owners reporting short football-ground walks; booking conditions vary.
Booking recommendation
Reserve limited club parking or a legitimate driveway in advance if proximity is vital; Parklands is first-come rather than reservable.
Supermarket permission/time limit — Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s general policy permits shoppers at many branches to park up to two hours; local Priors Road matchday permission or signed stay not separately established.
Supermarket permission/time limit — Tesco
Tesco says store maximum-stay signs vary by location; Hewlett Road football permission and full-match maximum not verified.
Total dwell time
Plan at least 4–5 hours for parking, walking both ways, arriving before kick-off, match/half-time/stoppage and departure.
After the match
Nearby roads are residential and constrained; no official quick-exit guarantee for Parklands or club parking.
Bank-holiday distinction — Bath Terrace
Sunday free parking does not automatically apply on bank-holiday Mondays: charging hours are Monday–Saturday, unless otherwise signed.

Driving & road restrictions

Set your sat-nav to your chosen parking site rather than only to Whaddon Road, GL52 5NA. The stadium sits among residential streets and on-street parking is restricted close to the entrances. If you approach using M5 junction 10, check its directional access before setting off.

Gloucestershire County Council's improvements project is changing that junction, and any temporary works or diversions may affect your chosen route. Leave extra time for local traffic around Prestbury Road and Whaddon Road on matchdays.

YOUR AWAY DAY · EV Charger Points Stadium

Worth knowing

Shrewsbury Town at Cheltenham Town

The interesting thing for a visitor is not luxury or spectacle but proximity to the club's scale. Whaddon Road sits tightly in residential Whaddon, has developed in layers and puts visiting supporters inside a ground where major moments - from Yeovil 1999 to Manchester City 2021 - can still be mentally mapped onto a relatively small footprint.

Matchday features

Excellent view/legroom. Accessible away viewing. Limited accessible parking

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

Cheltenham the football place does not look like Cheltenham the racing brochure.

Supporter interpretation

The contrast has been noted by contemporary writers for decades and is genuinely useful for understanding why supporters value Whaddon as its own identity.

The ground feels close to the pitch and constrained by its surroundings.

It grew in stages on a residential site, so it reads more as an evolved club home than a purpose-built modern venue.

Home atmosphere is concentrated rather than stadium-wide.

Recent club documentation points specifically to Block 1 and the 1887 Red Army.

The club's history is unusually visible in small details.

Supporter-funded equipment, the History Makers commemoration and the Bryan Jacob story connect matchday space to governance and memory.

Berkeley Hunt kennels

Local-history evidence places the former kennels on/around the later sports-ground site before football's permanent arrival.

1930s Whaddon expansion

Supporter interpretation

The football ground predates much of the surrounding municipal estate's 1930s growth, helping explain its close residential relationship.

Athletic Ground record crowd

The club's biggest-ever crowd belongs to an older venue, not Whaddon Road, which is a useful reminder that major cup days sometimes exceeded what the home ground could accommodate.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

Rail, Underground & tram

Use Cheltenham Spa for the train, then choose a bus or taxi unless you want a long walk. The station is roughly 40 minutes from Whaddon Road on foot, via the town centre. It has step-free routes to both platforms using steep ramps, rather than lifts.

Stagecoach D/E buses connect the railway station with the town and Bishop's Cleeve. Visiting guidance recommends getting off at Anlaby Court and walking the remaining ten minutes. If that service does not suit your arrival, head into town and use the A bus towards Wyman's Road. Check the return train and buses for evening matches.

Away coaches

If you are travelling on an organised away coach, expect to be dropped beside Whaddon Road Bowls Club. Newport County's April 2026 guide places the drop-off next to the away fan-zone and a very short walk from the Hazlewoods Stand entrance. Follow the organiser's instructions rather than arranging your own kerbside stop.

The exact place where coaches wait during the game, and where you will board after full-time, can change. Ask your driver before leaving the coach and return to the meeting point they confirm. Parklands Community Centre also advertises paid coach parking, but that is not automatically where your visiting club's coach has been allocated.

Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Arrange accessible seating or parking with Cheltenham Town and your own club before travelling. There are limited stadium parking spaces for Blue Badge holders, and 2026 away guidance says your badge details are required when booking. The accessible spaces serving away supporters are in the Hazlewoods Stand, entered from Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham Spa has some step-free access, but its platforms are reached by steep ramps rather than lifts. The main stadium car park is on the opposite side of the ground from some spectator entrances, so ask the club for a suitable drop-off and walking route. You can contact the ticket office on 01242 573558 or the supporter liaison team at slo@ctfc.com.

After the match

After the match

If you drive, expect the streets around Whaddon Road and Wyman's Road to be busy while supporters leave. Parking farther back in the town centre means a longer walk, but you avoid depending on a vacant residential bay close to kick-off. Parklands and other nearby car parks cannot promise a quick getaway.

For the return journey, check the last useful A bus from Wyman's Road or D/E service towards the station before you arrive. Cheltenham Spa is a long walk if you miss your connection. If you are on a coach, follow the driver's confirmed collection instructions rather than assuming it will remain at the drop-off point.

Main departure issue
Narrow residential streets near Whaddon Road restrict available routes; allow congestion buffer after full-time.
Parklands departure
First-come community centre parking accessed through Wymans Road; no published guaranteed dispersal duration.
Rail return
Cheltenham Spa is around 40 minutes on foot; use buses/taxi if train connection is tight.
Town-centre bus return
Stagecoach A serves Prestbury to town centre; check actual final departure for match.
Official away coach collection
Ask driver before leaving coach: April 2026 Bowls Club drop-off guidance does not establish collection for every fixture.

Where to stay

Stay near the Brewery Quarter or the northern edge of Cheltenham town centre for the best balance of football and an evening out. You can eat or drink in town and walk towards the ground along Winchcombe Street and Prestbury Road. The station is some distance away, so plan the luggage journey if arriving by rail.

Pittville suits supporters who care more about being close to Whaddon Road than about central nightlife. The quieter residential setting makes the match walk simpler, but conventional hotel choice near the ground is more limited. If you want the Promenade or Montpellier for an evening out, accept a longer trip back from the stadium.

Best all-round overnight area
Brewery Quarter / north Cheltenham town-centre edge for food, pubs and walking route to ground.
Closest residential base
Pittville / Whaddon area is nearer stadium but is primarily residential.
Rail accommodation trade-off
Cheltenham Spa is on opposite side of centre from stadium, around 40 minutes on foot.
City-centre to stadium on foot
Around 20–30 minutes from central Cheltenham via Winchcombe Street, Prestbury Road and Whaddon Road.

AWAY-DAY OVERVIEW

Before you head to the ground

Cheltenham Spa is the awkward part of this away day: the station is just over two miles from Whaddon Road, roughly a 40-minute walk through the centre.

Read full overview Hide full overview

Cheltenham Spa is the awkward part of this away day: the station is just over two miles from Whaddon Road, roughly a 40-minute walk through the centre. DEYA is the easiest rail-arrival meeting point, two minutes from the station; otherwise move into town, where the High Street/Brewery Quarter also suits overnight stays, then work towards Kemble Brewery Inn or Airs & Graces before the ground.

PUB / BAR

Robins Nest

EV Charger Points Stadium, Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, GL52 5NA
0 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORearly arrivals · one-stop drink and food · supporters staying at the ground
MATCHDAY INTELThe dependable ground-side option: visiting supporters are still admitted, hot food is served before Saturday games and an overflow bar can open when weather permits.
WORTH KNOWINGCapacity is the catch. Arrive early, because the bar can turn people away when full and cannot be reached once you have entered the stadium.
PUB / BAR

Whaddon Road Bowls Club Away Fanzone

Whaddon Road Bowls Club car park, Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, GL52 5NA
0 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORaway groups · last drink before entry · coach arrivals
MATCHDAY INTELThe most convenient away-only drink beside the turnstiles when it opens. Recent guides place the bar in the bowls-club car park, with catering also reported.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not assume it operates every game. It is weather-dependent and was closed for Grimsby in September 2026 because the bowls club had its own fixture.
PUB / BAR

The Airs & Graces

25 Prestbury Road, Cheltenham, GL52 2PN
8 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORproper pre-match food · families · small away groups
MATCHDAY INTELProbably the strongest all-round pub near the ground: current guidance explicitly welcomes away fans, while the full Saturday kitchen makes it useful for supporters who want more than a pint.
WORTH KNOWINGIt is card-only according to CAMRA. No current published rule on away colours was found, so colours remain unverified rather than assumed.
PUB / BAR

Kemble Brewery Inn

27 Fairview Street, Cheltenham, GL52 2JF
9 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORreal ale · traditional pub atmosphere · supporters walking from town
MATCHDAY INTELThe best proper-pub choice on the approach to the ground. It has current away-guide backing, strong real-ale credentials and Saturday food, though the food offer changes with pop-up kitchens.
WORTH KNOWINGIt is a small pub and CAMRA says food operators and hours can vary. Check the current kitchen before choosing it primarily for lunch.
PUB / BAR

Parklands Community Centre

Wyman's Road, Cheltenham, GL52 5PR
5 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORdrivers parking at Parklands · quiet pre-match pint · supporters avoiding the busiest pub route
MATCHDAY INTELA practical rather than glamorous option behind the stadium. Parklands explicitly welcomes visiting supporters in its lounge bar and is especially useful if you are parking there.
WORTH KNOWINGThe parking page still displays 2023/24 prices, so do not rely on those charges. Current food provision is also not published consistently.
PUB / BAR

DEYA Brewing Company Taproom

Unit 27, Lansdown Industrial Estate, Gloucester Road, Cheltenham, GL51 8PL
40 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORtrain arrivals · craft beer · supporters eating before crossing town
MATCHDAY INTELThe cleanest answer to 'where do train arrivals meet?': DEYA is two minutes from Cheltenham Spa, has 25 draft lines and current resident food traders.
WORTH KNOWINGIt is not an away-supporter pub and has no published colours policy. The ground is still across town, so leave enough time for the final leg.
PUB / BAR

Sandford Park Alehouse

20 High Street, Cheltenham, GL50 1DZ
15 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORovernight visitors · real ale · proper lunch before walking to the ground
MATCHDAY INTELA strong town-centre food-and-beer stop for overnight visitors. It is independent, opens early enough for Saturday football and sits on the useful eastern side of the centre.
WORTH KNOWINGThis is a public pub, not a designated away venue; no current football-colours or large-group door policy was found.

What to eatBreakfast, brunch and lunchtime food, homemade cakes and coffee; current listings also show toasties and Cuban-style sandwiches.

A useful non-pub stop on Prestbury Road: independent, open from 8.30am on Saturdays and serving breakfast, brunch and lunch close to the final walk to the ground.

BEST FORbreakfast · families · coffee · supporters avoiding pubs
WORTH KNOWINGSaturday currently finishes at 4pm, so it suits early arrivals rather than post-match food. No football-colours policy was found.
FOOD

Simpsons Fish and Chips

Where it isPriors Road, on the far side of the ground from the town centre. It is a specific near-ground food destination rather than a natural stop for rail arrivals.View on map ↗

What to eatTraditional fish and chips with both takeaway and restaurant service; the current site supports click-and-collect.

The strongest dedicated chippy lead near Whaddon Road. It is currently open through Saturday afternoon and evening, with both takeaway and restaurant service.

Away access: check
BEST FORfish and chips · supporters arriving early · families
WORTH KNOWINGIt is beyond the ground from the station/town-centre direction, so it makes most sense if food is the destination rather than part of a pub crawl.
FOOD

What to eatBeef, chicken and vegan burgers, wings, fries and a children's meal deal.

A useful independent meal on the Winchcombe Street route, with proper burgers, vegan alternatives and a children's deal rather than generic stadium food.

BEST FORproper pre-match meal · burgers · families · mixed dietary needs
WORTH KNOWINGNo football-specific door or colours policy was found. Allow restaurant time if eating in rather than treating it as a last-minute turnstile stop.
FOOD

stadium hot food and drinksaway-end kiosk
What to eatCurrent supporter evidence confirms hot dogs and chips. A September 2026 visitor specifically reported that pies were not available.

Treat the away kiosk as backup, not the food plan. Official guides confirm hot food, while September 2026 visitors found hot dogs and chips but no pies.

0 min walkAway access: check
BEST FORlate arrivals · supporters already through turnstiles
WORTH KNOWINGThere is no alcohol in the away end and the exact hot-food range is inconsistent between guides and recent supporter experience.
