Use Cheltenham Spa for the train, then choose a bus or taxi unless you want a long walk. The station is roughly 40 minutes from Whaddon Road on foot, via the town centre.
Plan a stay at Cheltenham Town ↗Go to the Hazlewoods Stand on Whaddon Road. The away entrance is tucked between the bowling club and a house, rather than at the stadium's main car-park gate. Look for the away signs and red ticket booth, and check your own ticket for any changed allocation. If you walk from the centre, follow Winchcombe Street into Prestbury Road, then turn right onto Whaddon Road. The club estimates 20–30 minutes from central Cheltenham. From a Parklands parking space, make sure you walk around to the Whaddon Road away entrance rather than entering by the home stands on Wyman's Road.
EV Charger Points Stadium: official visitor guide (earlier issue) ↗If you drive, expect the streets around Whaddon Road and Wyman's Road to be busy while supporters leave. Parking farther back in the town centre means a longer walk, but you avoid depending on a vacant residential bay close to kick-off. Parklands and other nearby car parks cannot promise a quick getaway. For the return journey, check the last useful A bus from Wyman's Road or D/E service towards the station before you arrive. Cheltenham Spa is a long walk if you miss your connection. If you are on a coach, follow the driver's confirmed collection instructions rather than assuming it will remain at the drop-off point.
Matchday information: Salford City (9 October 2026) ↗Stay near the Brewery Quarter or the northern edge of Cheltenham town centre for the best balance of football and an evening out. You can eat or drink in town and walk towards the ground along Winchcombe Street and Prestbury Road.

Compare the stay areas →Use Cheltenham Spa for the train, then choose a bus or taxi unless you want a long walk. The station is roughly 40 minutes from Whaddon Road on foot, via the town centre. It has step-free routes to both platforms using steep ramps, rather than lifts.
Stagecoach D/E buses connect the railway station with the town and Bishop's Cleeve. Visiting guidance recommends getting off at Anlaby Court and walking the remaining ten minutes. If that service does not suit your arrival, head into town and use the A bus towards Wyman's Road. Check the return train and buses for evening matches.

From Cheltenham town centre, take Stagecoach A from Clarence Street towards Prestbury and get off at Wyman's Road. The club's matchday directions give around ten minutes on the bus, followed by a short walk to Whaddon Road. Confirm the stop for the return journey before kick-off.
The D/E routes are useful when coming directly from Cheltenham Spa station, although they leave you a longer final walk from Anlaby Court. Arle Court also offers a free-to-park transport hub with a paid route 100 into town on its operating days. It is not a direct stadium shuttle, so allow time for the onward walk or change to the A bus.
If you are travelling on an organised away coach, expect to be dropped beside Whaddon Road Bowls Club. Newport County's April 2026 guide places the drop-off next to the away fan-zone and a very short walk from the Hazlewoods Stand entrance. Follow the organiser's instructions rather than arranging your own kerbside stop.
The exact place where coaches wait during the game, and where you will board after full-time, can change. Ask your driver before leaving the coach and return to the meeting point they confirm. Parklands Community Centre also advertises paid coach parking, but that is not automatically where your visiting club's coach has been allocated.
Arrange accessible seating or parking with Cheltenham Town and your own club before travelling. There are limited stadium parking spaces for Blue Badge holders, and 2026 away guidance says your badge details are required when booking. The accessible spaces serving away supporters are in the Hazlewoods Stand, entered from Whaddon Road.
Cheltenham Spa has some step-free access, but its platforms are reached by steep ramps rather than lifts. The main stadium car park is on the opposite side of the ground from some spectator entrances, so ask the club for a suitable drop-off and walking route. You can contact the ticket office on 01242 573558 or the supporter liaison team at slo@ctfc.com.

Stay near the Brewery Quarter or the northern edge of Cheltenham town centre for the best balance of football and an evening out. You can eat or drink in town and walk towards the ground along Winchcombe Street and Prestbury Road. The station is some distance away, so plan the luggage journey if arriving by rail. Pittville suits supporters who care more about being close to Whaddon Road than about central nightlife. The quieter residential setting makes the match walk simpler, but conventional hotel choice near the ground is more limited. If you want the Promenade or Montpellier for an evening out, accept a longer trip back from the stadium.
EV Charger Points Stadium: official visitor guide (earlier issue) ↗For the best all-round football weekend, the north side of the town centre around the Brewery Quarter is the strongest compromise: it keeps the ground realistically walkable while putting food and drinks on the doorstep. Pittville is better if the shortest possible walk to Whaddon Road matters most. The Promenade/Montpellier side is better if the evening after the match matters more than the walk to the ground.
The Brewery Quarter is the easiest concentrated food/drink/entertainment cluster for a football trip, while the Promenade and Montpellier give a broader restaurant and bar choice in a more established central evening district. Both are stronger post-match bases than the streets immediately around Whaddon Road.
Cheltenham Spa station is south-west of the centre rather than beside the ground. Staying by the station alone is not the best matchday compromise: central hotels give a better evening base, with the Queens particularly convenient for walking from the station. For the Brewery Quarter or Pittville hotels, a taxi or local bus is more practical with luggage.

Bear in mind: It is appreciably farther from the ground than Cotswold Grange.
Hotel details checked 2026-09-28Still close enough to Whaddon Road for a practical walk rather than automatically needing a taxi.
Large, established property with substantial recent review volume on both Booking.com and Tripadvisor.
Complimentary Express Start breakfast is a useful football-weekend inclusion and reduces the need to find breakfast separately.
Parking is off-site in the adjacent NCP rather than free hotel parking; the hotel advertises a guest discount.
Rooms are functional rather than characterful, and recent reviews include occasional minor maintenance/air-conditioning complaints.

Bear in mind: The town-centre/Brewery Quarter nightlife is a longer walk than from the Holiday Inn Express or Queens.
