Identity & place

What this club is really about

The Imp comes from Lincoln Cathedral's mythology, and Sincil Bank has been home since 1895. Supporters have paid for parts of the ground and helped save the club. Taylor's 1975/76 record side, Murphy's first return from the Conference, Alexander's post-administration play-off teams, relegation in 2011, the Cowleys' 2017 breakthrough and the second-tier return in 2026 all sit within that longer history.

Why that identity still matters

Lincoln's first Championship season in 65 years brings ownership changes, a new stadium sponsor and major work at Sincil Bank. The Fans' Share, elected supporter representation and heritage protections provide formal ways to safeguard the name, colours, crest, memorial stand and ground. Supporters still remember the lows that preceded this success.
