The Burlington Hotel
Central Cleethorpes / Albert Road / seafront
A small, well-reviewed hotel just off Cleethorpes' central promenade. It works unusually well for this particular football trip because it combines a credible walk to Blundell Park with the strongest evening location, easy access to Cleethorpes station and much better current reputation evidence than the nearer low-cost options.
- Current reputation evidence is strong across both Tripadvisor and Booking.com, particularly for cleanliness, staff, comfort and location.
- Albert Road is in the part of Cleethorpes where an overnight supporter is most likely to want to be after the match: close to the promenade, Sea View Street, bars and restaurants.
Approximate practical walking estimate, not a turn-by-turn route. The straight-line distance is about 1.07 miles; the official club guide says Blundell Park is around a 20-minute walk from Cleethorpes station, and Burlington is close to the central station/seafront area.
It is not next to the stadium; allow roughly 25 minutes on foot depending on route and pace, or use a short taxi.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Set your sat-nav for Blundell Park, Cleethorpes DN35 7PY. The usual approach is along the M180 as it becomes the A180, then Grimsby Road by the stadium. Remember the ground is in Cleethorpes rather than central Grimsby, and avoid turning into the away-coach parking streets unless directed.
Expect the roads around Harrington Street and Tiverton Street to be tightly managed on matchdays. North East Lincolnshire Council also records separate waiting and loading restrictions on Constitutional Avenue and Imperial Avenue. Follow the on-street signs and any fixture traffic instructions; a previously reported temporary closure is not evidence that the road remains closed today.
- Stadium sat-nav
- DN35 7PY.
- Long-distance route
- M180 continuing into A180, then Grimsby Road at Cleethorpes.
- Matchday controlled coach streets
- Harrington Street and Tiverton Street.
- Named additional restriction streets
- Constitutional Avenue and Imperial Avenue carry council waiting/loading orders.
- A180 access
- The A180 runs directly past the stadium area.
- General stadium car-parking provision
- No general published away-supporter stadium car park; visitor guidance depends on street parking.
Parking & park-and-ride
Free street parking is possible near Blundell Park, but arrive early and have a paid backup. Grimsby Town advises using local streets where parking is permitted, while warning that spaces are extremely limited. Do not expect to find a bay beside the away turnstiles shortly before kick-off.
Blundell Avenue and Tiverton Street appear in independent away-parking guides as free possibilities. However, I could not confirm any precise unrestricted section of either road for a full matchday visit. Harrington Street and Tiverton Street have formal matchday coach and authorised-vehicle restrictions, while nearby Imperial Avenue and Constitutional Avenue also have waiting restrictions. Check every sign and bay rather than relying on a postcode.
If you want certainty over where to park, use a proper paid car park or reserve an authorised private driveway in advance. Grant Street car park in Cleethorpes is a council-run option, listed at £6 for over four hours, with daytime charges seven days a week. St Peter’s Avenue is another published £6 longer-stay choice. Both involve a longer walk back towards the Harrington Street away entrance.
Allow around four to five hours for parking, walking, getting into the ground, the match and leaving afterwards. For a typical 3pm kick-off, aim to be parked roughly 90 minutes early if trying local streets, with enough time to switch to your chosen car park. Bigger away followings and cup ties can make local supply tighter.
Do not use supermarket parking as a free football space. The Tesco Express on Grimsby Road has a documented 30-minute free period, and its signage governs any paid extension. A separately purchased parking-operator booking is only suitable if its terms expressly allow a full match visit. For late games and bank holidays, recheck charges and any site-specific closing rules.
- Parking verdict
- Free on-street parking is possible with an identified paid backup; do not rely on an unspecified unrestricted residential bay.
- Free option — Blundell Avenue
- Named by independent away guide as a free street option; exact permitted kerbside section and matchday hours not legally confirmed.
- Free option — Tiverton Street
- Named by independent away guide but subject to separate matchday coach/authorised-vehicle controls; do not recommend a particular space.
- Free option — other residential streets
- Club says on-street parking may be used where legal; no verified named unrestricted section for a complete match visit.
- Legal restrictions — Harrington Street
- TRO 17-10 covers coaches-only matchday parking, authorised-vehicle parking and waiting/loading controls.
- Legal restrictions — Tiverton Street
- TRO 17-10 includes matchday/authorised-vehicle and waiting/loading restrictions; individual bays must be checked.
- Legal restrictions — Constitutional Avenue
- TRO 17-08 lists waiting/loading controls on Constitutional Avenue.
- Legal restrictions — Imperial Avenue
- TRO 17-08 lists waiting/loading controls on Imperial Avenue.
- Legal restrictions — wider Cleethorpes
- Cleethorpes has further controlled parking schemes and new 2026 TRO proposals, not a blanket unrestricted area.
- Matchday availability — stadium vicinity
- Club describes parking around Blundell Park as extremely limited; no assured on-street supply.
- Matchday availability — high-demand fixtures
- Arrive early; larger attendances may increase competition. No reliable quantified free-space probability available.
- Walk — near-ground streets
- Near-ground street suggestions are within a short walk of the ground; exact legal bay-to-away-gate walk cannot be verified.
- Walk — Grant Street car park
- In central Cleethorpes, farther from Blundell Park than the immediate residential streets; allow a longer walk via Grimsby Road/Harrington Street.
- Walk — St Peter’s Avenue car park
- Central Cleethorpes parking; longer walk along the town-centre/Grimsby Road approach to Harrington Street.
- Arrive by — normal Saturday match
- Practical suggestion: aim to be parked around 90 minutes before kick-off when attempting street parking; not a guaranteed availability threshold.
- Paid fallback — Grant Street
- Council car park; £6 for over four hours, chargeable 8am–6pm seven days a week (tariff as checked 14 October 2026).
- Paid fallback — St Peter’s Avenue
- Council car park; £6 for over four hours, chargeable 8am–6pm seven days a week (tariff as checked 14 October 2026).
- Paid fallback — reservable private space
- JustPark lists reservable Grimsby Town matchday driveway/private parking; price and availability depend on chosen fixture and booking.
- Booking recommendation
- Not essential for drivers happy to arrive early and use legal street parking with paid fallback; reserve an authorised private space for more certainty.
- Supermarket permission/time limit — Tesco Express
- AccessAble survey lists 30 minutes free parking at Tesco Grimsby Road Express; payment signage applies. Not general free football parking.
- Supermarket permission/time limit — Tesco policy
- Tesco says site-specific maximum stays and enforcement are displayed on car park signs; football-use permission not verified.
- Total dwell time
- Allow about four to five hours for both walks, early arrival, match, stoppages and exit; a two- or three-hour customer parking allowance is inadequate.
- After the match
- Use planned route back to car park; do not expect quick vehicle departure from tight streets around the away end.
- Parking all-day weekend exceptions
- Council car park tariffs are listed for all seven days, 8am–6pm; confirm any additional entry/exit signs for evenings/bank holidays.

Matchday advice: Free street parking is possible near Blundell Park, but arrive early and have a paid backup. Grimsby Town advises using local streets where parking is permitted, while warning that spaces are extremely limited.
Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Use Cleethorpes station for the easiest rail arrival. It is about a 20-minute walk from Blundell Park and puts you in the town centre for food or a drink before heading to the away turnstiles. Trains from further afield commonly reach Cleethorpes via Grimsby or Doncaster, so check your connection and return journey before travelling.
New Clee is closer on the map and National Rail’s local guide shows a walk towards the ground, but it is an unstaffed station with fewer facilities. Only choose it if a suitable train actually stops there. Grimsby Town station is further away and is better treated as a connection or bus starting point rather than the final walking destination.
- Recommended rail station
- Cleethorpes; the club quotes about a 20-minute walk to Blundell Park.
- Cleethorpes location
- Station Approach, Cleethorpes DN35 8AX.
- Cleethorpes step-free status
- National Rail lists category B1; station operator describes level platform access. Confirm assistance for the required journey.
- New Clee
- Closer geographically; unstaffed, no ticket office or car park. Check stopping services before choosing it.
- New Clee onward walk
- National Rail onward-travel guide describes Blundell Park as about 10 minutes on foot from New Clee station (ground reference, not a timed away-gate route).
- New Clee step-free status
- National Rail says category A; the operator separately describes category B/partial station, while reporting step-free access to its one platform.
- Grimsby Town mainline connection
- Grimsby Town station is further from the ground; change towards Cleethorpes or take local onward transport.
- Underground or tram connection
- No local Underground or tram service is required for Blundell Park.
Station to ground & away entrance
Head for the Osmond Stand at the Harrington Street end of Blundell Park, not the main club entrance. For visiting supporters, the Harrington 2 turnstiles are the clearest published approach, although your match ticket and stewards take priority if segregation changes.
From Cleethorpes station, follow the town-centre route along Prince’s Road and Grimsby Road, then turn towards Manchester Street and Harrington Street. A promenade route via Fuller Street bridge is another option, but an established away guide warns that it is not wheelchair accessible. Allow a little extra time beyond the general station-to-stadium walk to reach your gate.
- Away stand
- Osmond Stand; usually the designated visiting-supporter section.
- Away turnstile area
- Harrington 2 turnstiles on Harrington Street; follow current ticket instructions for your allocation.
- Approach from Cleethorpes station
- Prince’s Road to Grimsby Road, then Manchester Street towards Harrington Street.
- Promenade alternative
- Walk north-west along the promenade and cross Fuller Street bridge to Harrington Street.
- Promenade accessibility warning
- Fuller Street bridge promenade route not wheelchair accessible.
- Ground postcode
- DN35 7PY, Cleethorpes.
- Away gate fixture changes
- Check the specific ticket and steward directions; stand layout and segregation can vary.

Coaches
Away coaches
If you are on an organised away coach, use the arrival and collection instructions from your club or coach steward. Grimsby Town’s current directions send supporter coaches off Grimsby Road onto Tiverton Street and then to the managed parking area on Harrington Street, close to the Osmond away end.
Do not use those coach bays as ordinary car parking. The council has a specific matchday coach and authorised-vehicle parking order on Harrington Street and Tiverton Street. Ask your coach organiser where you will meet after full-time, because vehicle positions and release arrangements can depend on the fixture.
- Coach approach
- From Grimsby Road turn onto Tiverton Street.
- Coach parking street
- Harrington Street, subject to matchday steward directions.
- Coach parking legal restriction
- 2017 TRO 17-10 establishes coaches-only matchday and authorised-vehicles-only restrictions on parts of Harrington/Tiverton.
- Coach proximity to away end
- Harrington Street serves the Osmond/Harrington 2 turnstile approach.
Buses
Buses & local travel
Walking from Cleethorpes station is usually simplest, but Stagecoach buses along Grimsby Road stop close to Blundell Park if you want to shorten the journey. Current club match information identifies route 3; check Stagecoach’s live stopping pattern rather than relying on older lists of route numbers.
For supporters starting farther away, the new matchday-only 18 and 78 services began in October 2026. Route 18 approaches through Waltham, New Waltham, Humberston and Cleethorpes. Route 78 approaches through Waltham, Springfield, Nunsthorpe, the Willows and Grimsby. Both are advertised before and after fixtures; check the published times and boarding stops for your match.
- Regular nearby bus corridor
- Grimsby Road, opposite or near Blundell Park.
- Currently named standard bus
- Stagecoach route 3 in recent club match information.
- Other local services
- National Rail New Clee onward map lists services 3, 9 and 10 in the wider corridor; verify actual matchday stop and timetable.
- Dedicated matchday route 18
- Waltham, New Waltham, Humberston, Cleethorpes and Blundell Park.
- Dedicated matchday route 78
- Waltham through Springfield, Nunsthorpe, Willows and Grimsby to Blundell Park.
- New service launch
- October 2026; before-and-after-home-fixture service.
Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Contact Grimsby Town’s ticket office before travelling if you need an accessible place in the away allocation or help reaching the Osmond Stand. The club publishes wheelchair accommodation, accessible toilets and limited Blue Badge street bays, but these are not the same as a guaranteed stadium car-park booking. Do not assume a particular accessible bay will be free on arrival.
For the journey from Cleethorpes station, prefer the town route through Prince’s Road and Grimsby Road instead of the Fuller Street bridge promenade shortcut, which a visiting guide identifies as unsuitable for wheelchair access. National Rail publishes step-free access at Cleethorpes; arrange any train boarding assistance separately. The number of away wheelchair places varies between guides, so confirm your exact allocation with the club.
- Accessibility booking contact
- Grimsby Town ticket office 01472 605050, option 4, for disabled tickets and access arrangements.
- Away wheelchair allocation
- Dedicated away wheelchair provision exists but published counts vary by guide; confirm your fixture with the ticket office.
- Accessible toilets
- The club lists an adapted toilet in the Osmond Stand for away supporters.
- Accessible parking
- Six publicly marked Blue Badge spaces on Harrington Street near Main Stand turnstiles are reported by the club; limited, first come, not guaranteed.
- Blue Badge requirement
- Display a valid Blue Badge in designated public street disabled bays.
- Promenade access
- Fuller Street bridge approach is not wheelchair accessible.
- Alternative walking route
- Prince’s Road, Grimsby Road, Manchester Street to Harrington Street is identified as the more accessible approach.
- Cleethorpes station accessibility
- National Rail lists step-free platform access (category B1) and passenger assistance; operator provides boarding assistance information.
- Hospital radio headsets
- Wired hospital radio headsets are advertised for certain Main Stand seats, pre-arrange to confirm visiting allocation.
After the match
After the match
If you are returning to Cleethorpes station, allow time to leave the Osmond end and walk through the streets back towards the town centre. The club quotes about 20 minutes between the station and ground in normal conditions, so allow more than that when catching a fixed departure just after full-time.
Drivers should return to their preselected car park rather than hunting for a shortcut through Harrington Street or Tiverton Street. Coach movements and matchday parking controls operate there, and tightly packed streets can take time to clear. The newer 18 and 78 matchday buses advertise post-match services, but check the fixture-specific stopping point and last departure before relying on them.
- Rail departure buffer
- Allow at least the published 20-minute station-ground walk plus extra time to leave the away stand and reach your platform.
- Coach and car congestion zone
- Harrington Street and Tiverton Street have managed coach parking and matchday traffic restrictions.
- Post-match bus routes
- Matchday 18 and 78 services advertise return journeys after the final whistle.
- Alternative driver departure
- Use the selected authorised Cleethorpes car park, avoiding unnecessary stadium-side residential manoeuvres.
Where to stay
Stay in central Cleethorpes if you want a straightforward football weekend. The station, seafront, High Street and Sea View Street put cafés, fish and chips and evening pubs in one walkable area. Blundell Park is roughly 20 minutes away on foot, so you can leave the car at your accommodation if its parking arrangements allow it.
Choose Grimsby town centre if you are arriving by rail, want a larger hotel choice or have plans elsewhere in town. You will need a short onward train or bus journey for the match, making it less convenient for an immediate walk home from the away end. Book accommodation and any hotel parking separately; the nearest place on the map is not automatically the best overnight base.
- Best overnight area
- Central Cleethorpes around the station, promenade and Sea View Street.
- Cleethorpes station-ground connection
- About 20 minutes on foot according to Grimsby Town.
- Cleethorpes hotel examples
- The Burlington Hotel and The Yarborough Hotel feature in Visit Lincolnshire accommodation listings.
- Alternative overnight area
- Grimsby town centre, particularly for rail arrivals seeking town-centre hotel choice.
- Cleethorpes evening area
- Sea View Street and central seafront, with independent cafés and food/drink.

Rail travellers should aim for Cleethorpes rather than Grimsby Town: the club puts Blundell Park around 20 minutes on foot from Cleethorpes station, with New Clee closer but much more lightly served. No.1 and No.2 Refreshment Rooms are the easiest station meet-ups; Swashbuckle has the strongest external away-pub case, while the Rutland Arms has fresh September 2026 evidence of home and away supporters mixing about ten minutes from the ground. Do not rely on the Blundell Park Hotel: the club’s away guide calls it home-only. Inside, Scotties is the away bar when the allocation gives access. Food is a proper part of the trip: GR8 White is close to the ground but its current Saturday hours conflict across listings; Steels and Ocean are dependable sit-down chippy choices in central Cleethorpes, with Papa’s on the pier better for larger groups. For an overnight stay, Cleethorpes seafront/station is the practical base. Check the fixture: away fans can be moved from the Osmond Stand, and the Fan Zone is currently closed.

Blundell Park away-end catering
This is one ground where eating inside is a credible option.
Steels Cornerhouse
The classic sit-down Cleethorpes choice. Steels has served the resort since 1946, and the current menu still centres on haddock and chips; it suits supporters arriving early enough to eat properly before the walk to the ground.
Ocean Fish Bar
A practical group alternative to Steels: Ocean has around 130 seats, takeaway, a licensed bar and gluten-free or vegetarian options. It works well for supporters meeting in central Cleethorpes before the walk to Blundell Park.
Papa's Fish & Chips – Cleethorpes Pier
Best for a bigger group making a day of Cleethorpes: the pier restaurant has more than 500 covers, takeaway, a licensed bar and daily gluten-free options. It is seafront food first, not a near-ground shortcut.
GR8 White Fish
The club’s own away guide points visitors here, and it is only a few minutes from Blundell Park. The catch is timing: current Saturday listings disagree over whether it closes between lunch and teatime.
