BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into Blundell Park

Head for the Osmond Stand at the Harrington Street end of Blundell Park, not the main club entrance. For visiting supporters, the Harrington 2 turnstiles are the clearest published approach, although your match ticket and stewards take priority if segregation changes. From Cleethorpes station, follow the town-centre route along Prince’s Road and Grimsby Road, then turn towards Manchester Street and Harrington Street. A promenade route via Fuller Street bridge is another option, but an established away guide warns that it is not wheelchair accessible. Allow a little extra time beyond the general station-to-stadium walk to reach your gate.

02 · Before the match

Scotties Bar

0-minute walk to the ground. The current away guide says hot and cold food is available around the visiting section, but Scotties itself is principally the away bar. Away supporters are usually in the Osmond Stand, but Grimsby can move smaller allocations elsewhere after a match-risk assessment. Check the stand on your ticket.

03 · Stay or head home?

Choose your base before your hotel

Stay in central Cleethorpes if you want a straightforward football weekend. The station, seafront, High Street and Sea View Street put cafés, fish and chips and evening pubs in one walkable area.

Expect away-end bar · inside ground · draft and bottled beer

GR8 White Fish

3 min walk

Good for fish and chips near ground · quick meal

The club’s own away guide points visitors here, and it is only a few minutes from Blundell Park. The catch is timing: current Saturday listings disagree over whether it closes between lunch and teatime.

Expect near-ground chippy · takeaway · quick food

Before you go Current listings conflict on Saturday hours: some show 11:30–13:30 then 15:30–19:30, while another shows continuous opening. Check before relying on it for 2pm food.

Food & drink
Traditional fish and chips with cod and haddock plus a wider takeaway menu; the club's away guide specifically recommends it to visiting supporters.

Steels Cornerhouse

Good for proper fish-and-chip meal · families

The classic sit-down Cleethorpes choice. Steels has served the resort since 1946, and the current menu still centres on haddock and chips; it suits supporters arriving early enough to eat properly before the walk to the ground.

Expect classic Cleethorpes chippy · sit down · busy

Before you go This is a restaurant rather than a quick pre-turnstile stop and queues are part of its long-standing reputation. Allow time, especially on a Saturday lunchtime.

Food & drink
Haddock and chips is the obvious order, with smaller-appetite portions, other traditional dishes and a long-standing Cleethorpes fish-and-chip reputation.

Ocean Fish Bar

Good for groups · families

A practical group alternative to Steels: Ocean has around 130 seats, takeaway, a licensed bar and gluten-free or vegetarian options. It works well for supporters meeting in central Cleethorpes before the walk to Blundell Park.

Expect large restaurant · fish and chips · group friendly

Before you go No football-specific colours policy was found. It is a sit-down town-centre option, so allow eating time rather than treating it as a last-minute ground-side chippy.

Fish and chips with gluten-free and vegetarian options, a licensed bar and enough seating for groups; useful when everyone wants to eat together before walking to the ground.

Papa's Fish & Chips – Cleethorpes Pier

Good for large groups · families

Best for a bigger group making a day of Cleethorpes: the pier restaurant has more than 500 covers, takeaway, a licensed bar and daily gluten-free options. It is seafront food first, not a near-ground shortcut.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay in central Cleethorpes if you want a straightforward football weekend. The station, seafront, High Street and Sea View Street put cafés, fish and chips and evening pubs in one walkable area. Blundell Park is roughly 20 minutes away on foot, so you can leave the car at your accommodation if its parking arrangements allow it. Choose Grimsby town centre if you are arriving by rail, want a larger hotel choice or have plans elsewhere in town. You will need a short onward train or bus journey for the match, making it less convenient for an immediate walk home from the away end. Book accommodation and any hotel parking separately; the nearest place on the map is not automatically the best overnight base.

Cleethorpes visitor information ↗

For most supporters, central Cleethorpes is the best balance: close enough to walk to Blundell Park, close to Cleethorpes station, and much better for food and drinks after the match. Grimsby town centre is the alternative for people who value a larger chain hotel and very easy rail access over being in the main seaside/evening area.

For the evening

The most useful evening cluster for an overnight supporter is central Cleethorpes around Sea View Street, St Peter's Avenue, the promenade and nearby side streets. North East Lincolnshire Council's town-centre work specifically describes Sea View Street as supporting a diverse evening economy, and current local listings show an active mix of bars, restaurants and cafes.

For the train

Cleethorpes station is the useful rail anchor for a stay in central Cleethorpes; Grimsby Town FC's own visitor guidance says the ground is around a 20-minute walk from Cleethorpes station. Grimsby Town station is better if you choose Holiday Inn Express Grimsby, but that leaves you farther from both Blundell Park and the main Cleethorpes evening area.

Current reputation evidence is strong across both Tripadvisor and Booking.com, particularly for cleanliness, staff, comfort and location.

    More about this choice

Albert Road is in the part of Cleethorpes where an overnight supporter is most likely to want to be after the match: close to the promenade, Sea View Street, bars and restaurants.

Cleethorpes station is nearby, while the club's own guidance puts the stadium around a 20-minute walk from the station area.

Booking.com coverage was repeatedly verified across the sampled dates.

The six-date normal-price sample was unusually stable and good value for the local market.

The hotel does not have a conventional residents' bar or full restaurant, although that matters less here because the central Cleethorpes food-and-drink cluster is on the doorstep.

On-site parking is limited; recent guest evidence mentions tight/limited spaces.

Some room categories are small and the property uses a self-check-in style that will not suit everyone.
