FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW EVERTON TO ARSENAL

The destination is Emirates Stadium in London. Work back from kick-off when deciding whether this is a day trip or a night away. Choose Finsbury Park when the match and a low-friction return to the hotel matter most. Choose Upper Street/Islington when you want the football trip to continue into a proper evening out. King's Cross is useful for long-distance rail, but there is little need to stay there purely for the stadium because Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are straightforward matchday gateways.

Everton are 8th in the Premier League after 7 league games, with 10 points. They started the campaign regarded as a side with survival to secure. It is an early marker, with much of the campaign still ahead. Everton have places to gain in the Premier League. The gaps around them matter more than turning one fixture into a verdict on the season.

Arsenal are 2nd in the Premier League after 7 league games, with 18 points. Set that against the summer expectation: title contenders. Arsenal are near the top of the Premier League. Staying with that group matters, although the final European places also depend on the season's qualification rules and cup outcomes.

Over their last five recorded league games, Everton have taken six points from a possible fifteen: one win, three draws and one defeat. Arsenal come into the current picture with four wins and one defeat across their last five league games, worth twelve points from a possible fifteen.

Build the day around supporting Everton from the away end, with time to meet up before the match rather than arriving at the turnstiles in a rush. Confirm the tickets and kick-off first, then compare the return journey with an overnight stay.

Maldron Hotel Finsbury Park, London

Maldron Hotel Finsbury Park, London

Finsbury Park

The best all-round football stay for Emirates Stadium. It is opposite Finsbury Park station, close enough for a straightforward walk to the ground, modern enough to avoid the compromises of some cheaper local hotels, and strongly reviewed across a large current sample. It also avoids relying on Holloway Road or Drayton Park after the match.

  • Around a 12-15 minute practical walk to Emirates Stadium, so supporters can return on foot after the match.
  • Directly opposite Finsbury Park station, one of Arsenal's recommended matchday stations and useful for onward travel across London.
The match journey

Published sources put the walk at roughly 12-15 minutes. Finsbury Park is also one of Arsenal's recommended matchday stations and avoids the post-match closure issues affecting Holloway Road and Drayton Park.

The trade-off

Upper Street/Angel offers a stronger range of bars and restaurants if the evening matters as much as the football.

WHY STAY HERE?

Maldron Hotel Finsbury Park, London

Finsbury Park

Our view

The best all-round football stay for Emirates Stadium. It is opposite Finsbury Park station, close enough for a straightforward walk to the ground, modern enough to avoid the compromises of some cheaper local hotels, and strongly reviewed across a large current sample. It also avoids relying on Holloway Road or Drayton Park after the match. The trade-off is that Finsbury Park is a good local eating-and-pub area rather than the deeper night-out destination that Upper Street is.

Why it suits this trip

  • Around a 12-15 minute practical walk to Emirates Stadium, so supporters can return on foot after the match.
  • Directly opposite Finsbury Park station, one of Arsenal's recommended matchday stations and useful for onward travel across London.
  • Booking.com coverage is verified and the current Booking.com search score was 8.4/10 from more than 4,500 reviews.
  • Recent Tripadvisor evidence is strongly positive for staff, cleanliness, transport access and general comfort.
  • The combination of walkability, transport and current reputation is stronger than the cheaper small-hotel options nearby.

Getting to the ground

Published sources put the walk at roughly 12-15 minutes. Finsbury Park is also one of Arsenal's recommended matchday stations and avoids the post-match closure issues affecting Holloway Road and Drayton Park.

Pubs and the evening

There are plenty of local pubs and places to eat, especially around Stroud Green Road and Blackstock Road, but this is a practical local evening rather than the wider Upper Street/Angel nightlife choice.

Arriving by train

The hotel is opposite Finsbury Park station, with National Rail plus Piccadilly and Victoria line access. It is particularly useful for walking back from Emirates Stadium rather than joining the closest-station queues.

The trade-offs

  • Upper Street/Angel offers a stronger range of bars and restaurants if the evening matters as much as the football.
  • A very recent Tripadvisor complaint described train vibration and poor comfort in a basement room; a higher-floor room is a sensible request for noise-sensitive guests.
  • Rates can rise sharply on Arsenal home-match nights even when ordinary Friday pricing is relatively reasonable.

Research price context

In this sample, about £135-£270 midweek and £140-£230 on Fridays. The sampled Fridays averaged slightly less than the midweek dates, so there is no evidence here of a routine weekend premium; individual London dates move sharply.

Citadines Islington London

Citadines Islington London

Islington / Upper Street

The strongest choice when the night out matters as much as getting to the match. Citadines sits just off Upper Street in Islington Square, so pubs, bars and restaurants are on the doorstep without putting the room directly on the busiest strip. It is still close enough to walk to Emirates Stadium if you prefer, and Highbury & Islington gives a practical matchday route.

  • Upper Street is within a couple of minutes on foot, giving the best concentration of post-match food, pubs and bars among the shortlisted areas.
  • The current Booking.com score was 8.9/10 from more than 1,500 reviews, with particularly strong cleanliness, comfort and location sub-scores.
The match journey

Published accommodation/operator material places Emirates Stadium around 1.14 miles away and has cited roughly a 20-minute walk. Allow extra time in matchday crowds.

The trade-off

Usually dearer than the Finsbury Park choice.

WHY STAY HERE?

Citadines Islington London

Islington / Upper Street

Our view

The strongest choice when the night out matters as much as getting to the match. Citadines sits just off Upper Street in Islington Square, so pubs, bars and restaurants are on the doorstep without putting the room directly on the busiest strip. It is still close enough to walk to Emirates Stadium if you prefer, and Highbury & Islington gives a practical matchday route. The price is normally higher than Finsbury Park and the aparthotel format is less like a full-service hotel, but the current quality evidence is notably strong.

Why it suits this trip

  • Upper Street is within a couple of minutes on foot, giving the best concentration of post-match food, pubs and bars among the shortlisted areas.
  • The current Booking.com score was 8.9/10 from more than 1,500 reviews, with particularly strong cleanliness, comfort and location sub-scores.
  • Recent Tripadvisor feedback repeatedly highlights quiet rooms, cleanliness, staff and the Islington location.
  • Highbury & Islington and Angel are both walkable, so supporters are not dependent on the closest stadium stations.
  • The aparthotel rooms include kitchen facilities, useful for longer football weekends or supporters who do not want every meal out.

Getting to the ground

Published accommodation/operator material places Emirates Stadium around 1.14 miles away and has cited roughly a 20-minute walk. Allow extra time in matchday crowds.

Pubs and the evening

This is the clearest reason to choose Citadines: it sits just off Upper Street, with a broad choice of pubs, restaurants and bars without needing a post-match Tube journey before the evening starts.

Arriving by train

Both are roughly a 10-minute walk according to the operator. Highbury & Islington is especially useful for an Arsenal trip because the club lists it as a practical stadium station; Angel is useful for the Northern line and King's Cross connection.

The trade-offs

  • Usually dearer than the Finsbury Park choice.
  • It is not the closest hotel to the ground; the walk is around a mile-plus and matchday crowds can stretch the published walking time.
  • It is an aparthotel rather than a conventional full-service hotel with its own destination bar/restaurant.

Research price context

In this sample, about £250-£335 midweek and £215-£255 on Fridays. The sampled Fridays were cheaper than the sampled midweeks, so price is highly date-sensitive rather than showing a simple weekend premium.

What to expect at Arsenal

All the key information for Everton supporters heading to Emirates Stadium — from the ground and atmosphere to food, access, parking and matchday practicalities.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Emirates Stadium

The ground

Everton at Arsenal

Large, modern and initially criticised by some supporters for feeling less intimate than Highbury, the stadium has gradually accumulated Arsenal-specific layers. By 2026 it is no longer a blank corporate bowl in club memory: it has a league title of its own, a locally written pre-match anthem, extensive heritage art and a concourse full of cues that reward anyone who knows what they are looking at.

Recorded capacity
60,338

Views from the away section

Generally clear, modern sightlines from the visiting section.

Supporter observation

A visiting-supporter review reports that the Emirates away-end view can feel compromised, particularly when the entire section stands throughout, even though the stadium itself is visually impressive.

Why the ground matters

Emirates Stadium matters most when read together with Highbury. The new ground solved the old stadium's capacity limits, but Arsenal has spent much of the Emirates era making sure the move did not sever the club from its previous home. The Clock, statues, exterior artwork and nearby Highbury Square turn the area into a deliberately connected old-ground/new-ground landscape.

The Clock End legacy

The Highbury clock survives as a heritage object at the new stadium, while a larger replica inside re-establishes the old visual reference.

Statues

Chapman, Adams, Henry, Bergkamp and Ken Friar are represented around the stadium. The poses are story-specific rather than generic footballer monuments.

Eight exterior artworks

The wraps installed around the stadium were created after supporter and club consultation and include Woolwich, Highbury, the Invincibles, Arsenal Women and hundreds of supporter figures.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Emirates Stadium

Atmosphere & acoustics

Everton at Arsenal

Away support can generate good noise; the scale of the bowl means atmosphere varies with fixture and crowd.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

A February 2026 Sunderland visitor described the home atmosphere as present but not exceptional. The atmosphere can vary considerably from one fixture to another.

One-nil to the Arsenal

A chant that turned a stereotype about George Graham-era economy into supporter humour and pride. Its exact first use is disputed, with the 1994 European run central to the best-known account.

The Angel (North London Forever)

A 2020s pre-match anthem by Louis Dunford that ties the current stadium to the local streets and gives the Emirates era a ritual of its own.

North London Forever before kick-off

A relatively new ritual that has become part of the home build-up; its importance is that it is locally authored rather than imported from an older Arsenal era.

Reading the stadium as a history wall

Supporters arriving at Emirates pass statues and huge heritage artworks before entering. The approach to the stadium is therefore part commemoration, not just circulation space.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Emirates Stadium

Food & drink

Everton at Arsenal

Emirates Stadium is easiest treated as a two-stage away day. King’s Cross is the main National Rail hub and, for some fixtures, visiting-club and police advice is to drink there before taking the Piccadilly or Victoria line north. Near the ground, away fans use the lower-tier south-east corner through K/L; Arsenal, Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are practical approaches, while Holloway Road is restricted after games and Drayton Park shuts on matchdays.

Food and drink around the ground

The old ‘away pub’ picture is badly out of date: Drayton Park is now Arsenal-only, Twelve Pins has a fresh 2026 away refusal, and several famous Arsenal pubs are firmly home territory. The Hercules is the clearest local away-friendly lead, but even that conflicts with fixture-specific advice, so check the match and keep colours covered until admission is confirmed.

Food is much easier: cafés, noodles, wraps, naan and a matchday food hall give strong choices around the approaches, with a current away-concourse menu inside. For overnight stays, Finsbury Park is the practical walkable base; King’s Cross/St Pancras suits arrivals and pre-match meeting.

The Hercules

The strongest current local pub lead: the venue itself says matchdays welcome home and away supporters, and recent visiting-fan discussion backs that up.

Drayton Park Arms

The Drayton Park Arms remains one of the most useful pubs to understand because older Arsenal away-day advice still lingers online, but its role has changed. Current Arsenal-pub guidance also describes it as home-supporter territory.

  • Arsenal supporters wanting a pub immediately around the ground Â
  • home supporters prioritising pre-match atmosphere Â
  • supporters wanting food as well as drinks

Do not rely on historic references calling this the designated Arsenal away pub. Current visiting-supporter evidence says that arrangement has ended. A current away-colours rule was not found.

The Tollington Arms

The Tollington is one of the clearest Arsenal home-pub options near the Emirates. Its official site calls it the 'Number One Arsenal Pub', promotes the matchday atmosphere and confirms a Thai restaurant alongside more traditional food. Current away-fan sources are inconsistent: recent specialist guidance treats it as a home pub with ticket or Arsenal-identification checks reported, while another current ground guide labels it away-friendly.

That conflict is too material to smooth over.

Treat away admission and colours as fixture-dependent and check before travelling. The venue says opening and food times can vary on matchdays.

The Gunners Pub

The Gunners is firmly part of Arsenal’s home-supporter pub circuit. The venue confirms live sport, a kitchen and beer garden, while CAMRA describes an Arsenal-shrine interior and a front room that becomes busy and loud for games. A current Arsenal pub guide reports home-fans-only matchday admission with proof of ticket, making it a poor choice for opposition supporters but a strong home-fan candidate.

CAMRA lists it as family friendly in general, but its own description of the matchday front room as busy and loud means families should judge the fixture and timing. No explicit current away-colours policy was found.

The George

The George has re-established itself as a strongly Arsenal-focused matchday pub. Its current site describes a vintage Arsenal setting, three large screens and capacity for up to 500 people on Arsenal home matchdays. It is one of the few venues with a credible current explicit stadium walking time, stating three minutes. The pub is first come, first served for Arsenal home matches, so it is more useful as an early-arrival home-fan option than a guaranteed late stop.

The official site does not publish an opposition-fan or away-colours policy. Yard Sale Pizza is specifically advertised for Arsenal away-match screenings; equivalent food availability for home matchdays was not clearly confirmed, so food is marked limited rather than assumed.

The Twelve Pins

The Twelve Pins remains a major Arsenal matchday pub by Finsbury Park, with current CAMRA records confirming food and Arsenal matches on TV. That makes it a useful home-fan option but a manual-check venue for visitors.

A current visiting supporter was turned away on an Arsenal matchday in August 2026 and reported the pub as home-only. Other current guides still call it away-friendly, so check the specific fixture and colours before relying on it.

The Faltering Fullback

The Faltering Fullback is a distinctive Finsbury Park option rather than a stadium-front pub. Its official site confirms a family-run Irish pub, Thai food seven days a week and no table bookings. Arsenal supporter reports describe it filling heavily for major games, and a Coventry supporter visiting in August 2026 found it full of Arsenal fans. That establishes real matchday use, but not a dependable away-fan admission policy.

The pub says families with children are welcome only when it is quiet and advises against bringing children on busy days; on a normal day children are welcome until 6pm. It takes no table bookings. Away access and away colours remain unverified.

The Coronet

The Coronet needs careful treatment because its status changed during 2026. Local journalism confirms the new manager sees Arsenal matchdays as central to the pub, CAMRA confirms the reopening, and September Arsenal supporter reports describe screens and pre-match use. The new operator’s away-fan policy has not been verified.

Do not reuse older 'Wetherspoons' or assumed away-friendly descriptions. The building and walking location are unchanged, but the operator and matchday setup changed in August 2026. Away admission and colours need a fresh check.

Zia Lucia Islington

Zia Lucia is a useful food-first alternative to the pub circuit. The Islington branch’s current official page gives a five-minute walk to the Emirates, current daily opening and a pizza-and-pasta menu. Arsenal supporters have independently recommended it before matches and advised booking. No football-specific admission or colours policy was found, so it should be presented as a restaurant candidate rather than assumed away-friendly.

Emirates Stadium – Away Supporters’ Area catering

For ticketed away fans, the most dependable food-and-drink fallback is inside the away supporters’ area itself. Burnley’s May 2026 guide gave a detailed current kiosk offer including pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, drinks and an under-8s kids meal, and said refreshments were available in the away area before kick-off. This does not replace a pub atmosphere, but it removes uncertainty around local away-pub admission.

Accessibility

Everton at Arsenal

Ask your visiting club’s Disability Liaison or Access Officer about accessible stadium parking before travelling. Arsenal reserves six Blue Badge parking spaces for visiting supporters, allocated for individual matches rather than available to drive into on the day. The booking confirmation contains the permit and entry arrangements. Arsenal station is not step-free, so do not rely on it for a wheelchair journey.

Accessible journeys

Finsbury Park is a more useful accessible approach, with signed onward routes; check your exact rail platform and any lift disruption on TfL before departure. Highbury & Islington access differs between rail and Underground platforms, so check the service you will actually use. Visiting accessible entry is available near entrance K, with a level-access option and stewards to assist.

Blue Badge holders may also use some local bays under council rules, but suspended bays and dedicated resident spaces remain prohibited. Stadium car park departures may be delayed by road closures after full-time.

Accessible stadium parking
Six spaces reserved for away Blue Badge supporters, allocated in advance through their visiting club accessibility officer; demand may exceed supply.
Parking reservation guarantee
Stadium accessible permits are allocated after confirmation; no drive-up accessible stadium parking guarantee.
Wheelchair stadium access
Accessible away entry beside entrance K; podium ramps and wheelchair-accessible entry gates, stewards on duty.
Step-free alternatives
Arsenal station is not step-free; Arsenal recommends Finsbury Park for an accessible matchday approach, subject to actual platform and lift operation.
Highbury & Islington station
Step-free status differs by line/platform, and lift faults occur; avoid blanket step-free promises and check TfL for the exact route.
Blue Badge on-street rules
Islington allows a Blue Badge in resident/shared-use/short-stay bays subject to stated exceptions; suspended bays and dedicated resident disabled bays are not available.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Emirates Stadium

Before the match

Everton at Arsenal

Use Finsbury Park for the broadest mix of rail and Tube connections, then walk towards the ground through the signed matchday routes. Arsenal puts the normal walk at about ten minutes, although crowds can slow the final approach. Its Victoria and Piccadilly line connections are useful for supporters changing in central London. Arsenal station is closer, at roughly three minutes from the stadium, and is useful when arriving on the Piccadilly line.

Planning your arrival

Reach the stadium perimeter early because the podium, bridges and away-turnstile approach become heavily congested.

Rail, Underground & tram

Highbury & Islington is another walking approach for Victoria line and Overground users; allow longer than the published ten-minute estimate to reach your actual away entrance. Do not plan to return through Drayton Park, which closes on matchdays. Holloway Road operates exit-only before games and can stay closed for up to two hours afterwards, so use another station for your journey home.

Best all-round station
Finsbury Park: Victoria and Piccadilly lines plus Great Northern rail; club estimates about ten minutes to the stadium, before additional away-entrance and crowd time.
Nearest Underground station
Arsenal (Piccadilly line): club estimates about three minutes to the stadium; no step-free platform-to-exit access.
Alternative station
Highbury & Islington (Victoria line and London Overground): club estimates approximately ten minutes to the stadium; confirm your particular platform access.
Matchday rail closure
Drayton Park station closed on matchdays; Holloway Road exit-only before kick-off and may close for up to two hours afterwards.
Mainline interchange
King's Cross St Pancras: Piccadilly line towards Arsenal or Victoria line towards Highbury & Islington / Finsbury Park.

Station to ground & away entrance

Head for the south-east corner of Emirates Stadium, where visiting supporters use the green quadrant and entrances K and L. Follow the entrance printed on your ticket rather than joining the first home-supporter queue. The away section is not necessarily closest to the station where you arrive. From Arsenal station, turn right onto Gillespie Road and follow it into Drayton Park.

Continue to the Danny Fiszman Bridge, cross onto the raised stadium podium and follow the signs to the away turnstiles. From Highbury & Islington, follow Holloway Road to Hornsey Road and use the marked podium access near The Armoury. Arsenal recommends reaching the ground at least 90 minutes before kick-off. Keep security checks and the walk around the podium in mind, especially for a full away allocation.

Buses & local travel

Use the Underground for most journeys from King’s Cross or central London. If you are travelling locally, Finsbury Park is also served by routes including 29, 153, 253, 254 and 259. Check the direction shown on the bus stop before boarding and leave time to walk from the stop to the away entrance. Buses can be useful for reaching Holloway Road or Finsbury Park, but temporary street closures and crowds can change their nearest stops on matchdays.

Do not assume a bus or taxi can take you right to the turnstiles; use the TfL journey planner and stadium steward directions on the day.

Transport for London lists routes 29, 153, 253, 254 and 259 serving Finsbury Park Station.
Matchday bus caveat
Road closures and high pedestrian demand may change convenient boarding and alighting points; recheck TfL before travel.

Parking

Everton at Arsenal

Do not plan on finding free on-street parking within walking distance of Emirates Stadium. Islington and Hackney extend controlled parking hours for Arsenal home matches, and some bays are suspended for coaches or other operations. No specific unrestricted street and side could be verified for a full matchday stay, so driving without a backup is a poor gamble. If you want to walk from the car, pre-book an authorised private off-street space.

Parking & park-and-ride

JustPark lists a private space on Caledonian Road, N7 9RN, advertised around ten minutes from the stadium, and off-road spaces on Dalmeny Avenue about fifteen minutes away. Allow additional time to reach entrances K and L and check the actual booking price, access and vehicle size. For a lower-cost rail-linked option from the north, use Cockfosters Station car park, EN4 0DZ, then the Piccadilly line towards Arsenal.

Its published daily rates are £11 Monday–Friday, £10 Saturday and £9 Sunday. It is open round the clock but first-come, first-served, so paying there does not reserve a bay. St Pancras International offers another legitimate fallback: its car park is open 24 hours, can be pre-booked to guarantee a space, and lists £33 for three to six hours when paying its published tariff. From King’s Cross, take the Piccadilly line or Victoria line towards the stadium approaches.

This is a more expensive but bookable choice. Morrisons Holloway, on Hertslet Road, advertises only two hours of customer parking. That is not enough for a match: allow roughly five to six hours for arrival, walking, entry, football and getting back to the car. Check signed restrictions on every fixture, including Sunday and bank-holiday games; do not treat retail bays or resident-only bays as free football parking.

Driving & road restrictions

Set the sat-nav to Emirates Stadium, London N7 7AJ, only as a destination reference. The ground is reached from a busy residential road network around Holloway Road, Drayton Park and Hornsey Road, and there is no general public stadium car park for ordinary match tickets. Avoid a last-minute attempt to drive up to the south-east away entrance. Matchday road closures, traffic filters and suspended parking bays may affect the last streets into the stadium.

If driving from outside London, decide on a booked space or an outer-London Tube car park before leaving home. Check your vehicle against London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone rules before entering London; non-compliant cars normally incur a daily charge. Check your precise route separately for the central Congestion Charge, rather than assuming the same rules cover both schemes.

Worth knowing

Everton at Arsenal

The interesting thing for a visiting supporter is how much Arsenal history is visible before the turnstile. This is one of the better modern grounds for understanding a club from its surroundings: cannon imagery, statues, giant heritage panels, the named Tube station and the preserved Highbury site all sit within walking distance of one another.

Matchday features

Modern bowl facilities. Accessible visiting viewing areas. Ashburton Grove/Highbury heritage context

Travel reminders

Do not build the return around Holloway Road.

Arsenal station can have severe post-match queues.

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

The club has colonised the local visual language

Arsenal is on the Tube roundel, stadium walls and street-level statuary. That makes the club-place relationship obvious even though the original Arsenal was in Woolwich.

Highbury is not an abstract predecessor

The old ground survives in enough physical form that the contrast between compact Highbury and Emirates Stadium can be seen rather than imagined.

The artwork is worth reading, not just photographing

Many exterior panels contain supporter and player references that make more sense if you know the underlying stories.

A modern song now frames the home build-up

North London Forever is a current ritual, not an ancient tradition, and that is precisely why it matters: Emirates-era Arsenal has created something of its own.

Thierry Henry's statue pose

It recalls his knee-slide celebration after scoring against Tottenham in 2002; the positioning near the Spirit of Highbury material makes the rivalry reference deliberate.

Tony Adams with arms out

The statue reproduces his 1998 title-celebration pose against Everton, a visual shorthand for the captain crossing from Graham's Arsenal into Wenger's first Double side.

Ken Friar as a boy

Unlike the player statues, Friar is shown as a child, turning a lifetime of service into an origin story rather than a boardroom portrait.

'Remember Who You Are' details

Look closely for intentionally embedded references including Ted Drake's seven goals, the GEORGE KNOWS/ARSENE KNOWS banner lineage and old Ashburton Grove site plans.

The old Highbury site

If time allows, the short walk to Highbury Square gives more identity context than another generic stadium photo: the old stand facades and former pitch space still exist.

A detail worth noticing

The old stadium's listed facades and pitch footprint survive nearby, making it possible to see the physical predecessor rather than merely read about it.

The station name is itself an Arsenal relic from the Chapman era; surviving Gillespie Road details underline that the football club literally overwrote part of the local map.

The stadium artwork and cannon pull the origin story back across London, reminding visitors that 'Arsenal' is an industrial place-name before it is a football brand.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

Coaches

Away coaches

Travel with your visiting club’s organised coach when possible. Arsenal allocates authorised supporter coaches to designated matchday parking, with Queensland Road and Hornsey Road both named in recent visiting-club guidance. Follow the coach organiser’s instructions for the final approach and collection rather than arranging your own roadside meeting point.

Your club or coach company must register the coach with Arsenal at least seven days before the match and receive an identification permit. Coaches are instructed to arrive between four and two hours before kick-off; routes into the coach parking area close two hours before the match. Minibuses must not assume they can use the coach spaces.

From a Queensland Road drop-off, follow the stadium ramp and podium route to entrances K and L. Confirm the same coach’s collection point and time before leaving it, particularly if crowd control keeps roads closed after full-time.

Coach registration
Visiting club or coach company must register with Arsenal at least seven days before the fixture to obtain a coach permit.
Coach arrival window
Four to two hours before kick-off; coach access routes close approximately two hours before kick-off.
Coach parking areas
Queensland Road and Hornsey Road are named in May 2026 visiting-club guidance; exact allocated site is communicated on coach permit.
Minibuses
Visiting-club guidance says minibuses cannot use designated coach parking.
Coach collection point
Confirm with the visiting club or organiser for your fixture; no universal collection bay verified.
Buses

Finsbury Park bus routes
Transport for London lists routes 29, 153, 253, 254 and 259 serving Finsbury Park Station.
Matchday bus caveat
Road closures and high pedestrian demand may change convenient boarding and alighting points; recheck TfL before travel.
Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Ask your visiting club’s Disability Liaison or Access Officer about accessible stadium parking before travelling. Arsenal reserves six Blue Badge parking spaces for visiting supporters, allocated for individual matches rather than available to drive into on the day. The booking confirmation contains the permit and entry arrangements.

Arsenal station is not step-free, so do not rely on it for a wheelchair journey.

After the match

After the match

Plan your way home before kick-off and do not head automatically for the nearest station. Arsenal Underground station can have long managed queues on Gillespie Road. Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are useful alternatives, although both can also operate crowd-control queues and may take longer to reach than their ordinary walking times.

Holloway Road is not a dependable post-match station, and Drayton Park is closed on matchdays. Follow the signed routes and stewards, particularly where Hornsey Road pedestrian access is restricted. Leave a generous buffer before a last train, coach departure or pre-booked onward connection.

Drivers using nearby private parking should expect busy exits and possible road closures. Accessible parking inside the stadium can be held for up to about an hour after the final whistle before vehicles can leave.

Managed station queues
Arsenal queues on Gillespie Road; Finsbury Park on Seven Sisters Road/Isledon Road and St Thomas’s Road/Rock Street; Highbury & Islington on Holloway Road south side.
Unavailable stations
Do not use Drayton Park on matchdays; Holloway Road may close for up to two hours after the game.
Road closure and stadium parking delay
Nearby roads can be restricted following the match; away disabled parking may have to wait up to about an hour to exit.
Train departure buffer
Allow additional time for stadium egress, walk, managed queues and interchange; no exact guaranteed clearance duration published.

Where to stay

Stay around Finsbury Park if the match is your main reason for visiting London. You can walk to Emirates Stadium and return to the hotel without joining the busiest Tube queues, while the Victoria and Piccadilly lines give useful connections to the rest of the city.

Choose Angel or Upper Street if you want a better evening of pubs, restaurants and bars after the match. Highbury & Islington is a practical transport link to that area, although the walk back to a hotel may be longer than staying in Finsbury Park.

King’s Cross and St Pancras are particularly convenient when you have an early long-distance train or Eurostar departure. They add a Tube journey on matchday, but may be a sensible compromise for a one-night visit.

Stadium-first overnight base
Finsbury Park: walkable to stadium with Victoria/Piccadilly line and National Rail access.
Food-and-drink base
Angel and Upper Street: established restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife, with a longer stadium approach.
Long-distance rail base
King’s Cross / St Pancras: major rail interchange with direct Piccadilly connection towards Arsenal.
Hotel price
No live fixture-date rate verified; hotel prices should be checked separately for selected match and length of stay.

Matchday services and parking arrangements can change. Confirm current details before travelling.

Read full overview Hide full overview

Emirates Stadium is easiest treated as a two-stage away day. King’s Cross is the main National Rail hub and, for some fixtures, visiting-club and police advice is to drink there before taking the Piccadilly or Victoria line north. Near the ground, away fans use the lower-tier south-east corner through K/L; Arsenal, Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are practical approaches, while Holloway Road is restricted after games and Drayton Park shuts on matchdays.

The Coronet

10 min walkUsually away-friendlyFood availableColours: check
BEST FORsupporters wanting a large Holloway Road pub  · Arsenal home fans wanting a newly reopened matchday option  · away groups only after direct same-day admission confirmation
MATCHDAY INTELThe Coronet needs careful treatment because its status changed during 2026. Local journalism confirms the new manager sees Arsenal matchdays as central to the pub, CAMRA confirms the reopening, and September Arsenal supporter reports describe screens and pre-match use. The new operator’s away-fan policy has not been verified.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not reuse older 'Wetherspoons' or assumed away-friendly descriptions. The building and walking location are unchanged, but the operator and matchday setup changed in August 2026. Away admission and colours need a fresh check.
PUB / BAR

The Hercules

504 Holloway Road, London N7 6JA
20 min walkAway access: fixture dependentAway colours OK
BEST FORclosest credible away-pub lead · pre-match drinks
MATCHDAY INTELThe strongest current local pub lead: the venue itself says matchdays welcome home and away supporters, and recent visiting-fan discussion backs that up.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not treat admission as guaranteed: official Burnley advice for May 2026 said Islington pubs were home-only and directed away fans to King’s Cross.
PUB / BAR

The Tollington Arms

115 Hornsey Road, Islington, London, N7 6DN
Away access: fixture dependentFood availableColours: check
BEST FORArsenal home supporters wanting a classic pre-match pub  · supporters wanting food without leaving the matchday pub scene  · watching football in an Arsenal-focused setting
MATCHDAY INTELThe Tollington is one of the clearest Arsenal home-pub options near the Emirates.
WORTH KNOWINGTreat away admission and colours as fixture-dependent and check before travelling. The venue says opening and food times can vary on matchdays.
PUB / BAR

The Faltering Fullback

19 Perth Road, Finsbury Park, London, N4 3HB
Away access: fixture dependentFood available
BEST FORArsenal supporters wanting food and a distinctive pub setting  · groups who prefer Finsbury Park to the closest stadium pubs  · supporters prepared to arrive early for big matches
MATCHDAY INTELThe Faltering Fullback is a distinctive Finsbury Park option rather than a stadium-front pub.
WORTH KNOWINGThe pub says families with children are welcome only when it is quiet and advises against bringing children on busy days; on a normal day children are welcome until 6pm. It takes no table bookings. Away access and away colours remain unverified.
PUB / BAR

Vineyard Islington London

179 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RG
Away access: fixture dependent
BEST FORgroups · Highbury & Islington arrivals · food and drinks
MATCHDAY INTELIts current matchday page explicitly markets bookings and discounts to home or away fans, making it a credible station-side option rather than an inferred recommendation.
WORTH KNOWINGThere is contrary visiting-fan evidence: Forest supporters reported being admitted in 2023 but denied the following year, so book or confirm before relying on it.
PUB / BAR

The World’s End

21–23 Stroud Green Road, London N4 3EF
12 min walkAway access: fixture dependent
BEST FORFinsbury Park arrivals · food with drinks
MATCHDAY INTELUseful mainly because it sits by Finsbury Park and has recent evidence of Forest supporters drinking there, not because it is a designated away pub.
WORTH KNOWINGExpect a heavily Arsenal crowd. A recent visiting guide describes it as home-dominated, and older advice has sometimes said away supporters would not be accommodated.
PUB / BAR

The George

9 Eden Grove, London, N7 8EE
3 min walkAway access: fixture dependentLimited food
BEST FORArsenal supporters wanting a pub very close to the stadium  · home fans seeking a large pre-match gathering point  · supporters who want a strong club-history atmosphere
MATCHDAY INTELThe George has re-established itself as a strongly Arsenal-focused matchday pub.
WORTH KNOWINGThe official site does not publish an opposition-fan or away-colours policy. Yard Sale Pizza is specifically advertised for Arsenal away-match screenings; equivalent food availability for home matchdays was not clearly confirmed, so food is marked limited rather than assumed.
PUB / BAR

North Nineteen

194–196 Sussex Way, London N19 4HZ
Away access: check
BEST FORnon-rival fixtures · pub meal · backup option
MATCHDAY INTELA useful secondary lead because it is current, independent and has recent away-day intelligence that non-rival visitors have been admitted.
WORTH KNOWINGAway admission is not stated by the pub itself. Current guidance says to check first, and colours should stay covered until admission is confirmed.
PUB / BAR

Drayton Park Arms

66 Drayton Park, Highbury, London, N5 1ND
Not for away fansFood available
BEST FORArsenal supporters wanting a pub immediately around the ground  · home supporters prioritising pre-match atmosphere  · supporters wanting food as well as drinks
MATCHDAY INTELThe Drayton Park Arms remains one of the most useful pubs to understand because older Arsenal away-day advice still lingers online, but its role has changed. Current Arsenal-pub guidance also describes it as home-supporter territory.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not rely on historic references calling this the designated Arsenal away pub. Current visiting-supporter evidence says that arrangement has ended. A current away-colours rule was not found.
PUB / BAR

The Gunners Pub

204 Blackstock Road, Highbury, London, N5 1EN
Not for away fansFood available
BEST FORArsenal supporters wanting one of the most club-focused pubs  · home fans who value memorabilia and atmosphere  · supporters wanting food and live sport
MATCHDAY INTELThe Gunners is firmly part of Arsenal’s home-supporter pub circuit.
WORTH KNOWINGCAMRA lists it as family friendly in general, but its own description of the matchday front room as busy and loud means families should judge the fixture and timing. No explicit current away-colours policy was found.
PUB / BAR

The Twelve Pins

263 Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London, N4 2DE
Not for away fansFood available
BEST FORArsenal supporters meeting around Finsbury Park  · home fans wanting food and live sport  · supporters who want a lively pre-match pub away from the immediate stadium frontage
MATCHDAY INTELThe Twelve Pins remains a major Arsenal matchday pub by Finsbury Park, with current CAMRA records confirming food and Arsenal matches on TV. That makes it a useful home-fan option but a manual-check venue for visitors.
WORTH KNOWINGA current visiting supporter was turned away on an Arsenal matchday in August 2026 and reported the pub as home-only. Other current guides still call it away-friendly, so check the specific fixture and colours before relying on it.
