BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into Emirates Stadium

Head for the south-east corner of Emirates Stadium, where visiting supporters use the green quadrant and entrances K and L. Follow the entrance printed on your ticket rather than joining the first home-supporter queue. The away section is not necessarily closest to the station where you arrive. From Arsenal station, turn right onto Gillespie Road and follow it into Drayton Park. Continue to the Danny Fiszman Bridge, cross onto the raised stadium podium and follow the signs to the away turnstiles. From Highbury & Islington, follow Holloway Road to Hornsey Road and use the marked podium access near The Armoury. Arsenal recommends reaching the ground at least 90 minutes before kick-off. Keep security checks and the walk around the podium in mind, especially for a full away allocation.

02 · Before the match

The Hercules

20-minute walk to the ground. Pub food is served; the practical draw is a pint close enough to walk to the ground rather than a destination meal. Do not treat admission as guaranteed: official Burnley advice for May 2026 said Islington pubs were home-only and directed away fans to King’s Cross.

03 · Stay or head home?

Choose your base before your hotel

Stay around Finsbury Park if the match is your main reason for visiting London. You can walk to Emirates Stadium and return to the hotel without joining the busiest Tube queues, while the Victoria and Piccadilly lines give useful connections to the rest of the city.

Pub food

The Hercules

20 min walk

Good for closest credible away-pub lead · pre-match drinks

The strongest current local pub lead: the venue itself says matchdays welcome home and away supporters, and recent visiting-fan discussion backs that up.

Expect football pub · mixed-supporter claim · screens

Before you go Do not treat admission as guaranteed: official Burnley advice for May 2026 said Islington pubs were home-only and directed away fans to King’s Cross.

Pub food

The Tollington Arms

Good for Arsenal home supporters wanting a classic pre-match pub · supporters wanting food without leaving the matchday pub scene

The Tollington is one of the clearest Arsenal home-pub options near the Emirates. Its official site calls it the 'Number One Arsenal Pub', promotes the matchday atmosphere and confirms a Thai restaurant alongside more traditional food. Current away-fan sources are inconsistent: recent specialist guidance treats it as a home pub with ticket or Arsenal-identification checks reported, while another current ground guide labels it away-friendly. That conflict is too material to smooth over.

Expect strong Arsenal home-pub identity · busy pre-match atmosphere · sports screens

Before you go Treat away admission and colours as fixture-dependent and check before travelling. The venue says opening and food times can vary on matchdays.

Pub food

The Faltering Fullback

Good for Arsenal supporters wanting food and a distinctive pub setting · groups who prefer Finsbury Park to the closest stadium pubs

The Faltering Fullback is a distinctive Finsbury Park option rather than a stadium-front pub. Its official site confirms a family-run Irish pub, Thai food seven days a week and no table bookings. Arsenal supporter reports describe it filling heavily for major games, and a Coventry supporter visiting in August 2026 found it full of Arsenal fans. That establishes real matchday use, but not a dependable away-fan admission policy.

Expect family-run Irish pub · multi-level beer garden · Thai food

Before you go The pub says families with children are welcome only when it is quiet and advises against bringing children on busy days; on a normal day children are welcome until 6pm. It takes no table bookings. Away access and away colours remain unverified.

Pub food

The Coronet

10 min walk

Good for supporters wanting a large Holloway Road pub · Arsenal home fans wanting a newly reopened matchday option

The Coronet needs careful treatment because its status changed during 2026. Local journalism confirms the new manager sees Arsenal matchdays as central to the pub, CAMRA confirms the reopening, and September Arsenal supporter reports describe screens and pre-match use. The new operator’s away-fan policy has not been verified.

Expect large former cinema pub · recently reopened independent venue · Arsenal matchday focus under new management

Before you go Do not reuse older 'Wetherspoons' or assumed away-friendly descriptions. The building and walking location are unchanged, but the operator and matchday setup changed in August 2026. Away admission and colours need a fresh check.

pizza and pasta

Zia Lucia Islington

5 min walk

Good for proper meal · pizza

Zia Lucia is a useful food-first alternative to the pub circuit. The Islington branch’s current official page gives a five-minute walk to the Emirates, current daily opening and a pizza-and-pasta menu. Arsenal supporters have independently recommended it before matches and advised booking. No football-specific admission or colours policy was found, so it should be presented as a restaurant candidate rather than assumed away-friendly.

Expect sit down · pizza · groups

Before you go Booking is sensible on matchdays; supporter discussion specifically recommends reserving before the game.

Food & drink
Handmade pizza with four dough choices, plus pasta and Italian plates; good for a proper meal rather than eating on the move.

Xi’an Impression

6 min walk

Good for noodles · proper meal

One of the strongest food choices near the stadium: distinctive Xi’an cooking rather than standard matchday fast food, with current menu evidence and repeated supporter recommendations.

Expect independent · quick meal · distinctive food

Before you go Supporters report substantial matchday queues; allow roughly 30 minutes or arrive at least 90 minutes before kick-off.

Food & drink
Biangbiang noodles, liangpi cold noodles, dumplings and Xi’an-style filled breads are the distinctive orders.

food

Emirates Stadium – Away Supporters’ Area catering

Good for ticketed away supporters who want food after entering the stadium · families needing a straightforward in-ground food option

For ticketed away fans, the most dependable food-and-drink fallback is inside the away supporters’ area itself. Burnley’s May 2026 guide gave a detailed current kiosk offer including pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, drinks and an under-8s kids meal, and said refreshments were available in the away area before kick-off. This does not replace a pub atmosphere, but it removes uncertainty around local away-pub admission.

Expect in-stadium away-end concourse · reliable ticketed-supporter fallback · hot food and drinks kiosks

Before you go The May 2026 guide gave specific opening timings for that fixture pattern, but kiosk menus, prices and opening times can change. Treat those details as evidence of the current offer, not a guarantee for every future match.

Pub food

Vineyard Islington London

Good for groups · Highbury & Islington arrivals

Its current matchday page explicitly markets bookings and discounts to home or away fans, making it a credible station-side option rather than an inferred recommendation.

Expect sports bar · groups · screens

Before you go There is contrary visiting-fan evidence: Forest supporters reported being admitted in 2023 but denied the following year, so book or confirm before relying on it.

Food & drink
Stone-baked and Detroit-style pizzas, wings and sharers are the current matchday-style food options.

Pub food

North Nineteen

Good for non-rival fixtures · pub meal

A useful secondary lead because it is current, independent and has recent away-day intelligence that non-rival visitors have been admitted.

Expect independent · local pub · quieter lead

Before you go Away admission is not stated by the pub itself. Current guidance says to check first, and colours should stay covered until admission is confirmed.

Food & drink
Kitchen serves pub meals; the venue describes itself as a steak and ale house.
How it works

Pub food

The World’s End

12 min walk

Good for Finsbury Park arrivals · food with drinks

Useful mainly because it sits by Finsbury Park and has recent evidence of Forest supporters drinking there, not because it is a designated away pub.

Expect Finsbury Park · home dominated · barbecue

Before you go Expect a heavily Arsenal crowd. A recent visiting guide describes it as home-dominated, and older advice has sometimes said away supporters would not be accommodated.

Food & drink
Current food offer is Red Dog Saloon barbecue.

cafe / breakfast

Wagon Cafe

3 min walk

Good for breakfast · quick bite

The most directly away-useful food lead: AISA says it welcomes all supporters and is in sight of the visiting entrance.

Expect quick · traditional cafe · away-end proximity

Before you go Published Sunday hours conflict between listings. Check opening on the fixture date, especially for Sunday games.

Food & drink
Bacon sandwiches and straightforward café food; a visiting supporter specifically praised the bacon sarnie before kick-off.

Mono Wraps

Good for quick food · kebabs

A strong quick-food stop on the Holloway Road approach: current opening hours, walk-in service and a proper made-to-order wrap menu are all published by the shop.

Expect fast · takeaway · halal-friendly options

Before you go Holloway Road station has matchday restrictions; do not plan the post-match journey around using that station.

Baban’s Naan

15 min walk

Good for value · quick food

A very good value-minded Finsbury Park stop: simple fresh naan and filled wraps that travel well on the walk to the ground.

Expect cheap eat · takeaway · Finsbury Park

Before you go A supporter-reported £6 wrap-and-drink deal dates from 2025; treat it as historical value evidence, not a guaranteed current price.

multi-vendor food hall

The Upper Place at Nag’s Head Market

Good for mixed groups · families

A practical group option because everyone can choose differently, and the venue explicitly runs a pre-match Arsenal meal deal rather than merely being near the ground.

Expect groups · choice · food hall

Before you go The £10.90 deal is advertised for every Arsenal home match before the game; vendor availability and individual opening times can still vary.

Food & drink

Caribbean / jerk

Juss Jerk

5 min walk

Good for jerk chicken · quick meal

A close-to-ground independent with current evidence for proper jerk chicken, rice and peas and plantain rather than generic stadium food.

Expect Caribbean · takeaway · queues

Before you go Queues build on Arsenal matchdays and popular items can sell out near kick-off, so this is an early-arrival stop.

Food & drink
Jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantain; current local coverage also highlights the jerk burger.

stadium concessions

Emirates Stadium away concourse

0 min walk

Good for late arrivals · inside ground

Useful as the no-detour option rather than a destination: the visiting concourse has a specific current menu, including pies, sausage rolls and hot dogs.

Expect in ground · cashless · convenient

Before you go Emirates is cashless. A May 2026 Burnley guide contains contradictory cash wording, so follow Arsenal’s live Help Centre rather than that line.

Food & drink
Current visiting-guide menu included £6.95 pies, £4.75 jumbo sausage roll, £7.80 hot dog and £9.60 Gunner Dog; vegetarian/vegan options were listed.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay around Finsbury Park if the match is your main reason for visiting London. You can walk to Emirates Stadium and return to the hotel without joining the busiest Tube queues, while the Victoria and Piccadilly lines give useful connections to the rest of the city. Choose Angel or Upper Street if you want a better evening of pubs, restaurants and bars after the match. Highbury & Islington is a practical transport link to that area, although the walk back to a hotel may be longer than staying in Finsbury Park. King’s Cross and St Pancras are particularly convenient when you have an early long-distance train or Eurostar departure. They add a Tube journey on matchday, but may be a sensible compromise for a one-night visit.

Get to Emirates Stadium ↗

Choose Finsbury Park when the match and a low-friction return to the hotel matter most. Choose Upper Street/Islington when you want the football trip to continue into a proper evening out. King's Cross is useful for long-distance rail, but there is little need to stay there purely for the stadium because Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are straightforward matchday gateways.

For the evening

Upper Street and Angel are the clearest post-match base. Visit London describes Upper Street as a concentration of restaurants, bars, pubs and nightlife, and it gives a much broader evening choice than staying right beside the ground.

For the train

Finsbury Park is particularly useful for a stadium-first stay because it combines National Rail with the Piccadilly and Victoria lines and remains walkable from Emirates Stadium. King's Cross St Pancras is the stronger long-distance/Eurostar hub; Angel and Upper Street sit between the two experiences.

Booking.com coverage is verified and the current Booking.com search score was 8.4/10 from more than 4,500 reviews.

Recent Tripadvisor evidence is strongly positive for staff, cleanliness, transport access and general comfort.

The combination of walkability, transport and current reputation is stronger than the cheaper small-hotel options nearby.

A very recent Tripadvisor complaint described train vibration and poor comfort in a basement room; a higher-floor room is a sensible request for noise-sensitive guests.

    More about this choice

The current Booking.com score was 8.9/10 from more than 1,500 reviews, with particularly strong cleanliness, comfort and location sub-scores.

Recent Tripadvisor feedback repeatedly highlights quiet rooms, cleanliness, staff and the Islington location.

Highbury & Islington and Angel are both walkable, so supporters are not dependent on the closest stadium stations.

The aparthotel rooms include kitchen facilities, useful for longer football weekends or supporters who do not want every meal out.

It is not the closest hotel to the ground; the walk is around a mile-plus and matchday crowds can stretch the published walking time.
