Holiday Inn Bournemouth by IHG
East side of Bournemouth town centre / Bath Road
The safest all-round recommendation for a typical football weekend. It is a modern, air-conditioned chain hotel on the east side of the centre, roughly half a mile from Bournemouth railway station, with consistently solid cleanliness/comfort scores and a price sample that came in below the other two primary choices.
- Bournemouth railway station is about 0.5 miles away according to IHG, useful for supporters arriving by train.
- Town-centre bars, restaurants, pier and seafront are within walking range.
Distance is approximate straight-line separation using the Booking.com hotel coordinates and the verified Vitality Stadium coordinates, not a claimed walking-route mileage. Walking is possible but is a substantial cross-town matchday walk; bus/taxi is the practical default for many guests.
It is not a stadium-area hotel; the straight-line separation from verified hotel/stadium coordinates is about 1.7 miles and the practical walking route is longer.

The Lodge of Heavy Leisure
Boscombe, near Boscombe Beach and O2 Academy
The best researched option when the main requirement is being able to walk to Vitality Stadium without accepting a poor hotel purely for proximity. Booking.com's Dean Court landmark search puts it about 0.8 miles from the ground, its verified address is in Boscombe, and Booking.com currently scores it around 9.2/10.
- Boscombe location means the match is genuinely walkable while still having local food, drink, the O2 Academy and beach nearby.
- Restaurant and bar are in the same building, useful after a late return or for a relaxed football weekend.
Booking.com's Dean Court landmark results place the property 0.8 miles from the stadium. Its verified Booking.com coordinates also sit about 0.77 miles straight-line from the verified ground coordinates. Allow roughly 20 minutes on foot and expect the route to head inland/up from Boscombe towards Kings Park.
Only eight rooms are advertised by the hotel, so availability can disappear quickly and rates can be less stable than at a large chain.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.

Hampton by Hilton Bournemouth
Central Bournemouth / Upper Terrace Road
Choose this when the evening matters as much as the match. Hilton places the hotel only 0.25 km from Bournemouth Town Centre and Lower Gardens, putting the main bars, restaurants and The Triangle within easy reach. The hotel itself has strong current review scores and includes hot breakfast.
- Hilton places Bournemouth Town Centre and Lower Gardens about 0.25 km away.
- Excellent access to the Town Centre/The Triangle evening cluster identified by Visit Bournemouth.
Approximate straight-line separation from Booking.com hotel coordinates to the verified stadium coordinates is about 2.2 miles; the practical walking route is longer. This is a town-centre choice, not a stadium-walk choice. Use bus/taxi or rail plus walking as appropriate.
This is the farthest of the three primary recommendations from Vitality Stadium.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Set your sat-nav for Vitality Stadium, Kings Park, BH7 7AF, but do not expect to drive into a public stadium car park. The club says the Kings Park car parks are pre-booked only in 2026/27, with arrangements sent directly to eligible supporters.
For ordinary matchday parking, aim instead for Sovereign Shopping Centre, approached via Centenary Way in Boscombe, BH1 4SX. Its paid car park avoids having to negotiate the last stretch of Kings Park Drive and leaves a walk through Boscombe and Kings Park.
Matchday road controls and local restrictions may change the approach to Kings Park and Thistlebarrow Road. Leave time to follow temporary signs, and do not route yourself through the stadium precinct looking for a casual space.
- Stadium sat-nav address
- Vitality Stadium, Kings Park, Bournemouth BH7 7AF
- Recommended parking destination
- Sovereign Shopping Centre, Centenary Way entrance, Boscombe BH1 4SX
- 2026/27 stadium restriction
- Both Kings Park car parks pre-booked only for eligible supporters, not general admission
- Road restriction evidence
- Club warns actively enforced residential restrictions; older access material flags Kings Park Drive / Thistlebarrow Road matchday controls
Parking & park-and-ride
Do not bank on finding free on-street parking within a short walk of Vitality Stadium. The club warns of matchday enforcement around Kings Park, while its two stadium car parks are reserved for pre-booked eligible users. For most drivers, Sovereign Shopping Centre is the simplest supported option; book a legitimate private space if you need greater certainty.
Sovereign's multi-storey car park is on Centenary Way in Boscombe, around a 15-minute walk from the ground. Its published tariffs are £4.40 for up to four hours and £6.30 for up to 24 hours. The operator explicitly welcomes 2026/27 football parking and keeps the car park open until one hour after the final whistle.
The ground floor is open around the clock, but upper levels normally close earlier on non-matchdays. Do not assume a four-hour ticket covers everything: parking up to 90 minutes before kick-off, walking each way, the match and delays can exceed four hours. The 24-hour ticket gives useful breathing space.
Avonbourne Academy off Harewood Avenue was advertised as free, first-come matchday parking in the club's 2025/26 guide, a walk of about ten to fifteen minutes. It offered roughly 200 spaces and locked after the match. We could not confirm that the same public arrangement operates in 2026/27, so check directly before relying on it.
No named stretch of Leeson Road, Queens Park South Drive or the streets around Kings Park could be verified as unrestricted for the full visit. Recent supporters describe parking pressure and proposed controls, not a guarantee. For a pre-reserved alternative, check a private Gloucester Road driveway and its exact booking terms; otherwise use Sovereign without touring residential roads.
- Parking verdict
- Booking is advisable if an allocated space is important; otherwise use Sovereign Shopping Centre pay-on-arrival. Free street parking is not reliably evidenced.
- Free option — Avonbourne Academy
- 2025/26 club guide offered approximately 200 free first-come spaces on Harewood Avenue, around 10–15 minutes from ground; 2026/27 continuation not confirmed
- Legal restrictions — Kings Park vicinity
- 2026/27 stadium car parks are pre-booked only; council restrictions on nearby streets enforced. Use individual Traffweb traffic orders and on-street signage for legal parking decisions.
- Legal restrictions — Leeson Road / Queens Park South Drive
- Supporter forum discusses proposed new controls in August 2026; no section-by-section permission established from inspected orders
- Matchday availability — surrounding streets
- Supporters report heavy competition and displacement; experience is not proof that any particular bay is legal or available
- Walk — Sovereign Shopping Centre
- Approximately 15 minutes from Boscombe via Kings Park to stadium; extra time for away perimeter access
- Arrive by — Sovereign Shopping Centre
- Plan to park about 75–90 minutes before kick-off when possible; this is a planning allowance, not a guaranteed space
- Paid fallback
- Sovereign Shopping Centre, Centenary Way entrance BH1 4SX: £4.40 up to 4h or £6.30 up to 24h, 2m height restriction
- Pre-booked fallback
- JustPark Gloucester Road BH7 6HZ advertises a private reservable driveway around 10 minutes from stadium; price and date availability must be checked at checkout
- Booking recommendation
- Pre-book a confirmed private driveway when certainty matters; do not treat a JustPark search result as a paid reservation until checkout is complete
- Sovereign matchday closing
- For all 2026/27 AFC Bournemouth home games operator says all levels remain accessible for one hour after final whistle; ground floor normally 24 hours
- Supermarket permission/time limit
- ASDA by Bournemouth station has customer car parking, but no inspected permission or maximum football-use stay; do not recommend it for match parking
- Retail parking — Sovereign Shopping Centre
- Operator specifically authorises football visits at published paid tariff; not equivalent to leaving a car in an ordinary customer-only bay
- Total dwell time
- Allow at least 4.5–5 hours for arrival, walks, match, stoppages and dispersal; choose Sovereign 24-hour tariff over 4-hour tariff when uncertain
- After the match
- Walk back to Boscombe; Sovereign matchday access extended to one hour after final whistle, but exit traffic may delay departure
- Avonbourne historical hours
- 2025/26 guide: opens 3h before weekend kick-offs / 1h45 before weekday kick-offs; locked 60 minutes after final whistle; not verified for 2026/27
- Sovereign spaces/access
- Ground floor 125 places and 24-hour operation; upper floors ordinarily shut 18:30 Mon–Sat and 16:30 Sunday but matchday extension advertised

Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Use Pokesdown for the shortest walk to Vitality Stadium if your train calls there. It is roughly a 15–20-minute walk via Christchurch Road, Gloucester Road and Kings Park, but the station has stairs and no step-free access to its platforms.
Bournemouth station is the more useful arrival point for many longer-distance services and has some step-free access to both platforms. From the south exit, follow Holdenhurst Road to the Kings Park Drive roundabout, then approach the stadium on foot; allow around 25–30 minutes or use a bus towards Boscombe.
There is no Underground or tram connection to the ground. Check your return train before the match, particularly after an evening kick-off, and do not assume every train stops at Pokesdown.
- Nearest railway station
- Pokesdown; about 15–20 minutes on foot to Vitality Stadium
- Pokesdown access
- Step-free category C; no step-free access to platforms as of 14 October 2026
- Pokesdown lift project
- Works planned from October 2026, completion expected early 2028; lifts not presently operational
- Alternative mainline station
- Bournemouth; approximately 25–30-minute stadium walk via Holdenhurst Road and Kings Park Drive
- Bournemouth station accessibility
- Step-free category B2: some step-free access to all platforms, subject to route and assistance needs
- Rail services
- Check Pokesdown stopping pattern and post-match last trains for the fixture
Station to ground & away entrance
Head for the visiting section in the Vitality East Stand, on the side facing Ted MacDougall Stand. Previous visiting guides identify blocks 21–24 and Turnstile F, with the approach from Boscombe and Pokesdown through Kings Park and round the east side of the ground.
For 2026/27 the club has changed to perimeter entry gates, so follow the gate shown on your digital match ticket and the stewards rather than relying on the older Turnstile F instruction alone. The ticket office has also moved into the west car park, between the VIP gate and Gate B.
From Bournemouth station, approach along Holdenhurst Road and Kings Park Drive. From Pokesdown, use Christchurch Road and Gloucester Road, then follow signs through Kings Park; allow extra time for searches.

Coaches
Away coaches
Travel on your visiting club's official coach where possible, because the driver can follow the agreed matchday approach and parking instructions. AFC Bournemouth's visiting-stadium plan places the away coach area east of the ground, reached through Kings Park Drive, close to the away side.
The parking and coach approaches can be affected by temporary controls on Kings Park Drive and Thistlebarrow Road. Stay with the coach organiser's confirmed drop-off and collection arrangement rather than choosing an unverified road to meet it.
From the coach park, follow steward directions towards the East Stand and your ticket's current perimeter entrance. The club's older stadium map is useful for orientation but does not fix the exact collection point for every fixture.

Buses
Buses & local travel
Use morebus m2 towards Boscombe if you want to shorten the journey from Bournemouth or Pokesdown. Boscombe bus station and Christchurch Road are useful stopping points, followed by a walk through the southern side of Kings Park to the visiting entrance.
The m2 runs between Poole and Southbourne via Bournemouth and Boscombe, with links to other local services. Check the operator's live stop and return times rather than assuming a bus waits at the ground; there is no stadium-front tram or Underground service.
For 2026/27, the club also advertises a free accessible shuttle between Bournemouth station and the stadium on matchdays. It operates in a pre- and post-match window, with details provided to disabled supporters directly.
- Useful regular bus
- Morebus m2 via Bournemouth, Boscombe and Pokesdown; use Boscombe / Christchurch Road for ground approach
- Bus ticket example
- As of 30 August 2026, adult m1/m2 single £2.70; operator dayrider £4.80, subject to change
- Bus interchange

Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Use Bournemouth station rather than Pokesdown if you need step-free rail access. Pokesdown has no step-free route to either platform, and its new lifts are not due to be completed until early 2028. Arrange rail assistance and your onward stadium journey before setting out.
Contact AFC Bournemouth's disability team before the fixture to confirm accessible seats, parking and the 2026/27 accessible shuttle from Bournemouth station. The club's latest matchday information identifies accessible perimeter gates and a Changing Places facility behind the East Stand.
An older away guide describes accessible spaces in stadium car parks, but that is not a guarantee of access under the new pre-booked system. Do not assume that a Blue Badge alone secures a matchday bay; use the club's allocation and steward instructions.
- Pokesdown step-free
- No; category C station
- Bournemouth step-free
- Partial step-free access to all platforms; National Rail category B2
- Pokesdown improvement timetable
- October 2026 works expected to complete early 2028
- Accessible stadium entrances
- Every 2026/27 perimeter turnstile bank has an accessible gate
- Changing Places

- Accessible shuttle
- Club says free Bournemouth station shuttle 4h pre-match to 2h after final whistle; contact disability team for booking/boarding details

- New general-admission ban makes previous 2025/26 first-come accessible parking descriptions unsafe to assume for 2026/27; prearrange with club
After the match
After the match
If you are driving, give yourself time to leave Kings Park on foot rather than joining the nearest stadium traffic queue. Sovereign Shopping Centre is a sensible return destination, with the operator promising access for one hour after the final whistle for every 2026/27 home match.
Do not linger unnecessarily after the game if your car is on an upper level or if you have a long walk. If using an Avonbourne Academy space, its older guide warned of a post-match lock-up, but this year's rules have not been confirmed.
Rail travellers should allow for crowds on the walk to Pokesdown or Bournemouth and check their train's actual stopping pattern. For evening fixtures, plan your last train and the final local bus before kick-off.
- Sovereign matchday exit deadline
- Operator promises all levels remain open one hour after final whistle on all AFC Bournemouth home matches in 2026/27
- Kings Park delays
- Historical club guide cautions delays clearing stadium car parks; 2026/27 car parks are pre-booked only
- Return railway options
- Pokesdown closer; Bournemouth gives more onward railway possibilities and step-free provision
- Avonbourne departure deadline
- Older away guide: lock 60 minutes after final whistle; 2026/27 validity unconfirmed
Where to stay
Stay in Boscombe or close to Pokesdown if walking to the match matters most. Boscombe gives you access to Christchurch Road, local buses and the Sovereign Shopping Centre car park, with Kings Park within a manageable walk.
Choose the eastern side of Bournemouth town centre or somewhere near Bournemouth railway station if you are arriving on a long-distance train. You will have a better transport base and broader evening choices, but the stadium is a longer walk and you should plan a bus or taxi when necessary.
There is no compelling reason to stay immediately alongside the stadium unless a specific booking suits you. For an evening game, prioritise a hotel with a practical return from the ground rather than assuming Pokesdown's smaller station will suit your last train.
- Short-walk accommodation area
- Boscombe and Pokesdown; Christchurch Road route towards Kings Park
- National rail accommodation area
- Near Bournemouth station or east Bournemouth town centre for stronger onward transport
- Stadium immediate area
- Kings Park is a football and public-park setting rather than the main Bournemouth nightlife/hotel centre
- Nightlife and food base
- Boscombe offers local food and drink; Bournemouth centre is an alternative when the evening matters more than stadium proximity

Bournemouth works best if you use Pokesdown rather than treating the town centre as the matchday hub. Pokesdown is the nearest station, about 15 minutes from Vitality Stadium; The Bell is directly opposite and makes an obvious meeting landmark, while larger away groups have the strongest evidence at Mello Mello in Boscombe. Marroy’s and Q Sports Bar are useful alternatives, but colours and door policy are less firmly documented. Long-distance trains often use Bournemouth station instead; from there the ground is roughly 25 minutes on foot, so either continue towards Pokesdown/Boscombe or eat near the station first. Boscombe/Pokesdown is the match-first overnight base; Bournemouth centre and East Cliff make more sense for a full weekend with the beach and nightlife. Food is good locally, from Boscanova breakfasts to Sea Bird fish and chips. Visiting fans are in East Stand Blocks 21–24 via Turnstile F, with food and drink available inside.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
AFC Bournemouth Fan Zone / The Great Escape
For 2026/27 the official Matchday Hub confirms The Great Escape bar, a range of local food in the Fan Zone, perimeter bars and food and drink on the concourses. The important change is that the Fan Zone now sits behind the relocated perimeter turnstiles, so a valid matchday ticket is required before entering that part of the stadium footprint.
Bournemouth Pizza Co
The useful main-station food option for supporters whose train does not stop at Pokesdown. It serves wood-fired pizza all day, with vegan and homemade gluten-free options before you continue towards Boscombe.
Cafe Boscanova
The best food-first stop on the Boscombe strip for an early arrival. Current football food guidance highlights pancakes, breakfast burritos and veggie or vegan dishes, backed by a current daily café listing.
Sea Bird
A useful chippy that is more flexible than the standard football takeaway. Sea Bird has cod and haddock alongside a substantial vegan menu, all on Christchurch Road before you head into Kings Park.
Queen Mumtaz
A stronger evening option on the same Christchurch Road strip as the away bars. The current menu has distinctive lamb and chicken curries, biryani and vegan dishes rather than generic matchday fast food.
Vitality East Stand visiting concourse
The dependable fallback once you are through Turnstile F. Current visiting guidance confirms food and drink in the away section, with burgers, hot dogs, pies and sausage rolls the documented stadium basics.
English Rose Cafe
A no-frills Boscombe breakfast choice for early kick-offs. Current football guidance singles it out for classic British breakfast and light lunches, with recent customers still praising the Full English and Sunday roast.
