Food in the visiting section at bet365 Stadium

Concourse catering is an option after entry to the visiting section. Read the ticket and access notes below before relying on it.

Inside the away section

bet365 Stadium Visiting Concourse

0 min walk

Good for inside ground · local oatcake

The reliable fallback once you are at the ground, and one of the few stadiums where the club itself pushes a genuinely local item: the Staffordshire oatcake.

Expect away concourse · oatcakes · football food

Before you go No current 2026/27 item-level prices were verified. Boothen Quarter and Ricardo's are home-fan facilities, so do not substitute those for the visiting concourse.

Location and route
Inside the visiting section in the stadium's south-east corner. Stoke's 2025/26 booklet calls the visiting area part of the Tile Mountain Stand; current 2026 independent mapping describes the relocated south-east corner.
Food & drink
The club explicitly lists hot and cold food and drinks including North Staffordshire oatcakes, plus a burger/hot-dog van outside the away end.

Oatcakes before the match

Choose your stop around the route you are taking. Read the operating and location notes for each venue rather than assuming a mobile trader will be in the same place for every match.

Staffordshire oatcakes

The Oatcake Boat

Good for oatcakes · walking route

The most football-specific way to try Stoke's local food: the club's own guide tells walkers to buy an oatcake from the canal barge by the stadium footbridge.

Expect canal · local speciality · matchday novelty

Before you go The boat is mobile. Check its current location or match schedule before relying on it; current reviews prove it is trading, not that it is at the stadium every home game.

Location and route
A mobile narrowboat that trades on the Trent & Mersey Canal. When moored by the stadium footbridge it is directly on the official walking route from old Stoke.
Food & drink
Hot Staffordshire oatcakes; recent and historic customer evidence mentions bacon and sausage fillings, tea and sweet bakes.
How it works

Staffordshire oatcakes, pikelets and filled breakfast items

London Road Oatcakes

Good for breakfast · local speciality

The dependable fixed alternative to the mobile oatcake boat: proper hand-poured Staffordshire oatcakes from 7am on weekends.

Expect oatcakes · early opening · takeaway

Before you go Closed Monday and Tuesday. It is takeaway-only and not a football venue, so plan it as a food stop rather than somewhere to meet for drinks.

Location and route
On London Road south of old Stoke. It is a fixed, early-opening local-food stop for supporters walking or driving towards the Trentham Lakes side, rather than a station pub.
Food & drink
Traditional hand-poured Staffordshire oatcakes and pikelets, with freshly made filled oatcakes, sandwiches, baps and baguettes.
How it works

Eating around Stoke-on-Trent station

A station-area meal belongs at the start of the stadium journey. Leave time for the onward route and check kitchen service for your kick-off.

Pub food

The Terrace Inn

Good for train arrivals · meeting point

The established rail-arrival away pub. Current visiting-supporter guidance still points travelling fans here before the shuttle or onward trip to the stadium.

Expect station side · sports tv · away support

Before you go Normal Saturday opening is noon, so a 12.30 kick-off leaves almost no pub time. Away colours and large-group admission are not published as blanket policies.

Location and route
About five minutes from Stoke-on-Trent railway station and beside the traditional away-supporter shuttle area. It is far more useful for rail arrivals than as a pub you walk to from the stadium.
Food & drink
The operator still advertises food and live sport, although it does not publish a detailed current matchday menu.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Choose Hanley for the best all-round overnight trip, especially if the evening matters as much as the 90 minutes. Choose Trentham Lakes only when walking back from the stadium is the overriding priority. Stoke town around the railway station can work well for value and train arrivals, but it is not the city's strongest nightlife base.

For the evening

Hanley/City Centre, particularly around the Cultural Quarter, Piccadilly and Brunswick Street, is the clearest choice for drinks, food and entertainment after the match. A taxi or suitable bus is normally the sensible link between Hanley and the stadium.

For the train

Stoke-on-Trent railway station is in Stoke town, not Hanley. Potbank is the most convenient of the researched hotels for a rail arrival. Walking from the station to the stadium is possible but long enough that most overnight supporters will prefer a bus or taxi, particularly with luggage or after an evening kick-off.

Hotels to compare

  • Hilton Garden Inn Stoke On TrentHilton Garden Inn Stoke On TrentHanley / Stoke-on-Trent City CentreAll-round choice · For the evening

Hanley city-centre location gives a much stronger pre- and post-match evening than staying at Trentham Lakes.

Bear in mind: It is around 2.3 miles from the stadium rather than a realistic matchday walk for most supporters; plan a taxi or suitable bus.

    More about this choice

Booking.com coverage is verified and the live search result showed an 8.4/10 guest score from 2,769 reviews.

Recent September 2026 Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly praise clean/modern rooms, comfort and friendly staff.

The Cultural Quarter, restaurants and bars are close enough for the hotel to function as a proper overnight base rather than just a bed near the ground.

A dependable international brand reduces the operational risk MatchdayHotels takes when making a primary recommendation.

On-site parking is charged; recent guests repeatedly cited £9 per night as poor value.

Recent reviews are not uniformly positive: restaurant quality/service has been inconsistent and some guests have reported tired or stained room furniture.

One September 2026 review described an occupied-room access/privacy incident involving housekeeping; this appears isolated but is material enough to record.

  • Holiday Inn Express Stoke-On-Trent by IHGHoliday Inn Express Stoke-On-Trent by IHGTrentham Lakes / bet365 StadiumFor the shortest ground journey

Booking.com places it about 1,000 feet from the stadium; another major hotel listing cross-checks the distance at about 0.3 km.

Bear in mind: Trentham Lakes is not Stoke-on-Trent's main nightlife district; a proper post-match evening normally means travelling to Hanley.

    More about this choice

Walking back after the final whistle is straightforward and avoids queues for taxis or buses.

Booking.com coverage is verified and the live search result showed 8.1/10 from 4,618 reviews.

Recent 2026 reviews repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and the included breakfast.

Particularly practical for late kick-offs, families, motorists and supporters who value match logistics over nightlife.

Parking is not necessarily free and is a recurring source of guest irritation.

Some guests mention weak shower pressure, noise or isolated service/food-availability problems.

Its proximity can carry a substantial matchday premium, so the closest option is not always the best value.

    More about this choice

Apartment-style rooms and kitchen facilities are useful for longer stays, families or supporters who do not need full hotel service.

Booking.com coverage is verified and the live search result showed 8.2/10 from 912 reviews.

Normal sampled midweek pricing was markedly lower than Hilton Garden Inn and often lower than the stadium-adjacent Holiday Inn Express.

The Spode Works setting gives it more local character than a generic roadside chain.

The official site warns that adjoining live music can continue until 1am on Friday and Saturday, making it a poor fit for noise-sensitive guests.

Service is more self-contained than a full-service hotel, and older reviews mention limited staffing/access complications.

Its review pool is much smaller than the two primary chain hotels, reducing confidence in broad reputation conclusions.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into bet365 Stadium

For a match at the bet365 Stadium, the simplest public-transport option from Stoke-on-Trent railway station is usually Stoke City's matchday shuttle from Glebe Street, rather than waiting for an ordinary bus. The boarding point is near St Peter's Church, a separate walk from the station. Stoke shuttles normally begin around 90 minutes before kick-off, running every five to ten minutes, while selected departures also leave Hanley Bus Station, Newcastle Bus Station and Chell Roundabout. After the match, Stoke-bound shuttles use the Harvester roundabout stops; Hanley, Newcastle and Chell services board below the Gordon Banks statue. Regular D&G route 24 also serves the stadium from Hanley, Stoke railway station and Stoke town centre, but check its timetable against kick-off and full-time. Route 27A serves the stadium from Longton and Bentilee, although departures are sparse. Matchday shuttles charge separate fares and do not accept ordinary day passes. Check Stoke City's fixture-specific match pack before travelling, especially if you have a train to catch after the final whistle.
