BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into The Den

For the away end, use South Bermondsey station and the dedicated visiting-supporters walkway. It leads towards the North Stand, where the away ticket office and turnstiles are located. Follow the signs and stewards rather than heading for Millwall's main reception or home turnstiles. The North Stand has been divided between home and visiting supporters for 2026/27. Your match ticket and visiting club's fixture guide are the best guide to the particular gate, especially when travelling from a car park rather than along the station walkway. If you need accessible entry, contact your visiting club before travelling and follow the North Stand accessible entrance arrangements provided for your match.

02 · Before the match

Shipwrights Arms

Current CAMRA information records homemade food at lunch and in the evening; no matchday-only menu was found. No current football-specific colours or door policy is published. Older away guidance advises covering colours; higher-risk fixtures can be managed differently around London Bridge.

03 · Stay or head home?

Choose your base before your hotel

Stay around London Bridge or Borough if you are making a weekend of Millwall. You can reach South Bermondsey directly by train from London Bridge, and these areas provide much more choice for dinner and a drink than the immediate streets around The Den.

Pub food

Barrowboy & Banker

Good for large groups · London Bridge arrivals

It is one of the most practical meeting points when a group is arriving by rail.

Expect large pub · busy · rail hub

Before you go Door treatment has varied: historic reports include away-heavy crowds, a scarf-removal request and post-match refusal of football fans. Treat admission and colours as fixture-dependent.

Food & drink
The current Fuller’s site lists pies, burgers and other British pub dishes, with food served through the week.

The George Inn

Good for groups · proper meal

Historic National Trust-owned coaching inn on Borough High Street with a big courtyard and proper pub food. It is a longstanding Millwall away recommendation and gives groups more breathing room than some of the tighter London Bridge bars.

Expect historic pub · courtyard · mixed central-London crowd

Before you go No current football-specific admission or colours policy was found. It is popular with tourists and diners as well as supporters, so booking food may be sensible.

Pub food

The Sun Wharf

Good for early kick-offs · large rail groups

New Wetherspoon immediately beside London Bridge station. Oxford supporters reported it packed with away fans for Millwall in 2026, and its 06:30 opening makes it unusually useful for early kick-offs.

Expect large pub · very early opening · station side

Before you go The Oxford visit was mixed but calm; that is one fixture report, not a blanket away-fans policy. High-risk games may bring different door or police arrangements.

Food & drink
Breakfast and the standard pub menu are available; its value here is the 06:30 opening and station position rather than distinctive local food.

pie and mash

M. Manze

Good for local speciality · proper pre-match meal

One of the most football-shaped food stops in the area: traditional pie, mash and parsley liquor, repeatedly suggested by Millwall and visiting supporters. Go here for a proper London pre-match meal rather than relying on the limited away-end menu.

Expect traditional London food · quick meal · historic

Before you go It is not on the segregated South Bermondsey route. On tightly policed fixtures, eat here early and return to London Bridge before the controlled final leg.

Food & drink
Traditional meat pie, mash and parsley liquor, plus eels, vegan pies, sponge and custard and sarsaparilla.

cheese / hot sandwiches

Kappacasein

Good for quick food · Saturday arrivals

Borough Market’s famous cheese stall is a strong quick-food option: toasted cheese sandwiches or raclette made with its own Bermondsey-produced cheese. It works well for Saturday arrivals at London Bridge without committing to a pub meal.

Expect busy food market · quick service · vegetarian friendly

Before you go The current market listing shows Thursday to Saturday only, so it is no use for Sunday or most midweek fixtures. Borough Market can be very busy.

Food & drink
Toasted cheese sandwiches and raclette using cheeses made in Bermondsey, served with potatoes, gherkins, pickled onions or sourdough depending on the dish.

hot ciabattas

The Black Pig

Good for quick substantial meal · Borough Market groups

Substantial toasted ciabattas from Borough Market Kitchen, including the signature slow-roast pork with honey truffle and Parmesan. A good choice when you want something fast and filling before the train rather than a sit-down meal.

Expect street food · filling · busy market

Before you go Current Borough Market hours cover Tuesday to Sunday but not Monday. Queues can build at peak market times, so leave enough margin for the South Bermondsey train.

Food & drink
Slow-roast pork ciabattas; the signature sandwich adds honey truffle and Parmesan.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay around London Bridge or Borough if you are making a weekend of Millwall. You can reach South Bermondsey directly by train from London Bridge, and these areas provide much more choice for dinner and a drink than the immediate streets around The Den. Bankside is another sensible central base within reach of London Bridge. It suits supporters who want sightseeing or an evening out as well as the football, although rooms may cost more than a basic hotel farther south. Peckham can work if price matters more than being close to central London, but check the actual journey to the away end before booking. For a daytime match with a comfortable return train, there is no reason to book a hotel simply because the stadium is in London.

Away Fans’ Guide | Millwall (A), October 2024 ↗

Choose London Bridge/Borough/Bankside for the strongest all-round football weekend: simple match access, major rail connections and a proper evening district. Choose Peckham instead when being closer to The Den and keeping the room bill down matter more than having central-London nightlife on the doorstep.

For the evening

Borough Market, London Bridge and Bankside form the strongest nearby overnight food-and-drink cluster. There are pubs, bars and restaurants across Borough High Street, Borough Market and the streets towards Bankside, with late options that are much broader than around The Den. Peckham High Street/Rye Lane is the useful more-local alternative.

For the train

London Bridge is the key rail base for a Millwall stay: direct trains reach South Bermondsey in about 4-5 minutes. From South Bermondsey the stadium is only a short walk, although post-match crowd management can slow the return.
