1. What these technologies do
A cookie is a small value a website asks a browser to store and return with relevant requests. Local storage and session storage are other ways a page can remember information in that browser. They are not all advertising tools: the purpose and the information involved matter.
Your browser settings can inspect or remove stored values and control cookies. Blocking or clearing necessary storage can reset choices or sign an administrator out. It does not necessarily remove information already recorded by a hosting service, email system or external provider.
2. Choices remembered on this site
Supported pages may remember a selected club, saved trips or interface preferences in local browser storage. These are convenience features, not a hotel reservation or a visitor account. Information generally stays in that browser until the feature overwrites it or you clear it; available features and browser behaviour vary.
Trip choices can also be encoded in a page or booking URL. Sharing that URL may share the dates, club, stay area or other choices within it. Clearing browser storage does not remove information from a URL you have already shared.
3. Optional guide analytics
Some guides offer an Analytics choices control. Optional guide analytics stay off unless you allow them for the session. The choice is stored in session storage under mdh-guide-analytics-consent-v1. It is separate from persistent trip preferences.
If you allow measurement, the site can record a limited selection of guide, fixture-selector and hotel-link interactions as described in the Privacy notice. You can keep analytics off or withdraw the session choice through the available control. Closing a browser session normally clears session storage, although browser session restoration can behave differently. Declining optional analytics does not prevent you from reading public guides or following hotel links.
4. Essential administration sessions
Signed-in administrators use an essential session cookie to authenticate access to private Site Intelligence. Its configured lifetime is eight hours, and it is restricted using secure, HTTP-only and same-site controls. Ordinary public visitors do not need to sign in to read the guides.
Signing out or the session expiring requires an administrator to authenticate again. Browser restrictions that prevent the session cookie from being stored can prevent sign-in from working. Optional guide analytics consent does not control this essential administration function.
5. Hosting, Turnstile and security
Cloudflare handles hosting and security infrastructure. Forms using Turnstile can process technical signals to help distinguish genuine users from automated abuse. Hosting or anti-abuse features may use necessary storage or checks, depending on the feature and request.
The site also processes proportionate security and research-access records. A refusal of optional analytics does not disable necessary protection against misuse. Not every form of server logging uses a browser cookie; see the Privacy notice for the distinction between optional event measurement, pseudonymous access observations and infrastructure logs.
6. Booking and affiliate websites
Following a commercial link can open an affiliate-network or booking-provider website. Those services may use cookies and similar technologies for their own operations, attribution, preferences or measurement, subject to their own notices and controls. Read the notice shown by the provider; a choice made on MatchdayHotels is not a universal cookie preference for every destination site.
Links can carry selected trip details and campaign identifiers. Cookie or browser restrictions may affect whether a network attributes a purchase, but they do not change the editorial reasons given for a hotel recommendation. We do not need you to allow our optional guide analytics in order to use a booking link.
7. Email and browser controls
Email delivery services process information needed to send messages, handle bounces and honour unsubscribe choices. Email-provider settings can affect additional measurement. Do not assume an email delivery record is the same as a website cookie or that clearing browser storage unsubscribes an email address.
Use the unsubscribe route in a message for email preferences. Use the guide control for optional guide analytics. Use browser settings to inspect or clear cookies, local storage and session storage. These controls act on different things, and some browsers restore a previous session or share certain settings across devices.
8. Questions and changes
Contact privacy@matchdayhotels.com if you need help understanding a storage or privacy choice. Include the page and browser concerned, without sending passwords or private identity documents. The Privacy notice explains your rights and complaint routes.
We will update this notice when relevant features change. New wording does not itself authorise a new use of your information; appropriate information and consent must be provided where required. The date at the top shows when this version was issued.
