What this club is really about
Rotherham United makes most sense as a club of continuity under pressure. It was literally 'United' from two local football strands in 1925, built decades of memory at Millmoor, nearly came apart financially in the 2000s, then had to play home games in Sheffield before returning to Rotherham in a purpose-built ground on an old foundry site. That sequence explains why ground, town and survival matter so much in the way supporters talk about the club.
