FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW CRYSTAL PALACE TO LIVERPOOL

This fixture is still months away, on 16 January. Today's table is useful background, but it is not a prediction of the positions either side will hold on matchday. If Crystal Palace are involved in the chase for a higher league finish by then, this could be an away result with real weight behind it.

Crystal Palace were 14th in the Premier League after 7 league games, with 7 points in the latest saved table. Set that against the summer expectation: a side with survival to secure.

Liverpool's last five recorded league games brought three wins, one draw and one defeat: ten points from a possible fifteen. Those are results available now; the form heading into this fixture may be very different.

Liverpool were 5th in the Premier League after 7 league games, with 12 points in the latest saved table. Before the season, they were seen as challengers for Champions League football.

The destination is Anfield in Liverpool. Work back from kick-off when deciding whether this is a day trip or a night away. For most supporters, base yourself around Lime Street/St George's Quarter for the easiest rail arrival and matchday transfer, or in Ropewalks if bars, food and a late night matter more. Staying beside Anfield makes sense when the priority is being able to walk straight back after the final whistle, an early stadium tour, or soaking up the football atmosphere rather than having the city on the doorstep. Check the matchday travel arrangements again nearer the fixture.

An away day is a chance to follow Crystal Palace somewhere different and make a proper day of the football. Check ticket access and the confirmed kick-off before booking; leave enough time either side of the game to enjoy the visit as well as support the team.

Table and form checked 22 October.

Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre by IHG

Lime Street / St George's Quarter

For a typical overnight football trip this is the most balanced recommendation. You can step off the train at Lime Street, leave your bags, walk a short distance to the 917 departure point at Commutation Row and still be in the city centre when you come back after the match.

  • Opposite Liverpool Lime Street, so rail arrivals and early departures are unusually simple.
  • The official 917 express to Anfield leaves from Commutation Row near Lime Street and is advertised by Liverpool FC as about a 15-minute journey.
The match journey

Approximate pedestrian route; most supporters will prefer the 917 express or another matchday bus. Liverpool FC describes Anfield as about two miles north of the city centre.

The trade-off

It is a city-centre hotel, so you still have to manage the post-match bus queue or walk back rather than simply crossing the road from the stadium.

WHY STAY HERE?

Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre by IHG

Lime Street / St George's Quarter

Our view

For a typical overnight football trip this is the most balanced recommendation. You can step off the train at Lime Street, leave your bags, walk a short distance to the 917 departure point at Commutation Row and still be in the city centre when you come back after the match. The review evidence is broad rather than dependent on a handful of football guests, which matters when MatchdayHotels is putting its name behind the choice.

Why it suits this trip

  • Opposite Liverpool Lime Street, so rail arrivals and early departures are unusually simple.
  • The official 917 express to Anfield leaves from Commutation Row near Lime Street and is advertised by Liverpool FC as about a 15-minute journey.
  • Booking.com review evidence is strong across location, staff, cleanliness and comfort, with thousands of verified stays.
  • Still central enough to walk to Ropewalks, Cavern Quarter and the main restaurant/bar streets after the match.
  • 24-hour style chain-hotel operation is useful when football kick-off times move or a return from Anfield is later than planned.

Getting to the ground

Approximate pedestrian route; most supporters will prefer the 917 express or another matchday bus. Liverpool FC describes Anfield as about two miles north of the city centre.

Pubs and the evening

Not inside the loudest nightlife streets, which is useful for sleep, but close enough to walk to them.

Arriving by train

Directly opposite the station. This is the strongest rail relationship of the primary picks and puts the hotel close to the 917 matchday departure point.

The trade-offs

  • It is a city-centre hotel, so you still have to manage the post-match bus queue or walk back rather than simply crossing the road from the stadium.
  • Observed Saturday pricing was almost twice the sampled midweek rate.
  • A recent 2026 Tripadvisor complaint reported poor air-conditioning during hot weather; this is not the dominant review theme, but it is worth surfacing.

Research price context

Sampled Booking.com observations were £112.40 for Wednesday 7 October and £213.40 for Saturday 3 October for one room/two adults. This is deliberately not presented as a timeless range.

The Arc Hotel

The Arc Hotel

Anfield Road

If the brief is 'as close as possible without dropping the quality bar', The Arc is the most convincing choice. It is on Anfield Road and recent reviews include real match-night stays praising the short walk, cleanliness, breakfast and staff. That makes it a more defensible recommendation than simply picking whichever room happens to plot nearest to a stadium pin.

  • Within a few minutes' walk of Anfield, so the post-match journey is effectively removed.
  • Recent 2026 match-night Tripadvisor reviews are unusually specific and positive about football-trip use.
The match journey

Approximate route. The hotel describes itself as less than a five-minute walk from Anfield; recent guests describe it as effectively beside the stadium.

The trade-off

You are choosing the stadium district rather than Liverpool's main evening economy.

Why it suits this trip

  • Within a few minutes' walk of Anfield, so the post-match journey is effectively removed.
  • Recent 2026 match-night Tripadvisor reviews are unusually specific and positive about football-trip use.
  • Booking.com review scores are strong for staff, cleanliness, comfort and location.
  • Football-focused bar/lounge and memorabilia fit the purpose of the stay without relying on a generic chain experience.
  • Booking.com coverage is verified.

Getting to the ground

Approximate route. The hotel describes itself as less than a five-minute walk from Anfield; recent guests describe it as effectively beside the stadium.

Pubs and the evening

Excellent for football atmosphere before and after the game, but not a substitute for Ropewalks, the Cavern Quarter or the Baltic Triangle if you want a full city-centre night out.

Arriving by train

Liverpool FC's access statement puts both stations at about a 30-minute walk from Anfield. For inter-city rail, Lime Street plus matchday bus/taxi is more practical.

The trade-offs

  • You are choosing the stadium district rather than Liverpool's main evening economy.
  • Match-night pricing can be very high relative to an ordinary midweek.
  • Some rooms are smaller than others and a recent Booking.com review mentioned a warm room/weak fan; neither appears to be a dominant complaint.

Research price context

Observed £153.90 on both Wednesday 7 October and Saturday 3 October, then £269.33 for Liverpool v Manchester City on Sunday 11 October. These are sampled Booking.com observations for one room/two adults, not a standing rate.

The Resident Liverpool

Ropewalks / Seel Street

This is the nightlife choice because it is actually on Seel Street in Ropewalks, not because a marketing page calls it 'central'. The useful bit is that its review record suggests you do not have to accept a poor night's sleep in return: recent guests repeatedly describe the rooms as quiet despite the lively streets outside.

  • Bars, restaurants and late-night venues in Ropewalks are immediately around the hotel.
  • Tripadvisor's 2026 evidence is similarly strong, especially for cleanliness, service, value and sleep quality.
The match journey

Approximate pedestrian route. Walking is possible for fit supporters, but the better plan is usually city-centre matchday transport and then walking back into Ropewalks.

The trade-off

The 917 departure point is not on the doorstep; allow time to walk back towards Lime Street/Commutation Row.

Why it suits this trip

  • Bars, restaurants and late-night venues in Ropewalks are immediately around the hotel.
  • Booking.com score of about 9.2/10 from more than 5,000 reviews gives the recommendation depth.
  • Tripadvisor's 2026 evidence is similarly strong, especially for cleanliness, service, value and sleep quality.
  • About a 10-minute walk from Lime Street according to the hotel/Booking.com, so matchday buses remain accessible.
  • Room mini-kitchens are useful for a football weekend when you may not want another restaurant meal.

Getting to the ground

Approximate pedestrian route. Walking is possible for fit supporters, but the better plan is usually city-centre matchday transport and then walking back into Ropewalks.

Pubs and the evening

This is the strongest of the researched hotels for immediate post-match bars, food and late-night choice.

Arriving by train

Roughly 10 minutes on foot to Lime Street; Liverpool Central is also in the Ropewalks/Bold Street area.

The trade-offs

  • The 917 departure point is not on the doorstep; allow time to walk back towards Lime Street/Commutation Row.
  • No in-house restaurant or conventional hotel bar, although that is less of a problem in this specific location.
  • City-centre parking is paid and can be expensive.

Research price context

Booking.com returned £98.40 for Wednesday 7 October for one room/two adults. A comparable Saturday or home-match-night price was not verified in this pass, so no false range is given.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Anfield

The ground

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

The visitor's strongest impression is contrast: a 61,276-seat stadium rising from ordinary north-Liverpool streets, then inside it a collection of highly authored spaces. The Kop is the symbolic centre, but the ground's identity is also in thresholds and edges—the tunnel sign, Shankly Gates, memorials, murals, 97 Avenue and the streets where supporter art has spread beyond the turnstiles.

Recorded capacity
53,394

Views from the away section

Current Anfield Road away accommodation benefits from the redeveloped stand; seat-specific restricted-view labels should be trusted over older online reviews.

Supporter observation

Recent Sunderland visitors still reported difficulty following play at the far end from parts of the enlarged Anfield Road away section, despite improvements elsewhere in the stand.

Why the ground matters

Anfield matters because it has accumulated layers rather than because it is architecturally frozen. Everton played there first; Liverpool were created to occupy it; the Kop changed from earth bank to vast terrace to seated single tier; the Main Stand and Anfield Road End have expanded; memorials, gates, murals and supporter banners keep adding meanings. It is a working modern stadium sitting on an unusually dense historical footprint.

The Kop

Supporter interpretation

Single-tier successor to the old standing terrace; the cultural heart of flags, songs and organised displays. Its 1906 physical ancestor was a huge 132-step bank.

Main Stand

Supporter interpretation

The redeveloped stand changed Anfield's scale dramatically while leaving the old ground in the same neighbourhood footprint. From some streets the modern stand now dominates housing that predates much of the stadium's current fabric.

Anfield Road Stand

Its expansion took Anfield to a confirmed 61,276 capacity. Operational arrangements for visiting supporters should be checked match by match rather than assumed from older guides.

This Is Anfield sign

Created under Shankly as deliberate psychology and later turned into a player ritual, with managers still deciding what touching it should mean.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Anfield

Atmosphere & acoustics

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

Major fixtures can produce exceptional noise, with the Kop the main home focal point.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

Sunderland visitors reported that noise came in pockets and did not always carry across the enlarged away end, with some blaming the height/open feel of the roof.

Pre-match anthem and scarves

Supporter interpretation

YNWA before kick-off is the most visible ritual, though supporter accounts stress that its intensity varies by occasion rather than operating at one constant volume.

Touching the This Is Anfield sign

A player ritual attached to Shankly's tunnel sign. Klopp's temporary ban on touching it until the team had won something shows that rituals are interpreted rather than merely obeyed.

Flag displays on the Kop

Supporter interpretation

Large supporter-made banners are brought out, revised and sometimes deliberately withheld; they work as a rolling public archive made from the stands.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Anfield

Food & drink

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

Liverpool is easiest if train arrivals meet in the city centre, then move out to Anfield later. Lime Street is the main station; the 917 runs from nearby Commutation Row and Liverpool’s guide puts the journey at about 15 minutes. For a pint by the ground, the Arkles remains the strongest away lead, backed by recent visiting-club guidance, but it gets packed and admission or colours can tighten by fixture.

Food and drink around the ground

The Flat Iron and Thomas Frost are useful fallbacks, while Ship & Mitre and Ma Egerton’s suit supporters who would rather stay central. The away allocation is in the Anfield Road Stand, but do not assume the Arkles Lane side is the entrance: recent guidance routes visitors via 97 Avenue, with exact turnstiles changing between fixtures. Food is better than an afterthought here.

Homebaked is the standout local stop for a Scouse or Shankly pie; Kims and Anfield Cafe are quick near-ground options, while Baltic Market works particularly well for groups staying around the Baltic Triangle.

The World Famous Arkles

The Arkles remains the strongest evidenced near-ground away-pub lead. A Spurs supporter thread from September 2026 also treated it as the established away meeting point. However, other 2026 reports say access can vary or that near-ground pubs may lean home-only, so it should not be presented as guaranteed for every fixture.

  • away supporters wanting a near-ground pint
  • supporters who want a classic football-pub atmosphere

Treat admission and away colours as fixture-dependent in practice even though the general away-access evidence is strong. Food evidence is contradictory: current Greene King pages show food/menu content, while 2026 Greene King promotion terms explicitly list Arkles among pubs that do not serve food.

The Sandon

The Sandon is one of the defining home-support matchday venues around Anfield. Its current site markets a large fanzone for up to 5,000 Reds, while Liverpool FC sells official hospitality there with pre-match food. It is therefore a strong home-supporter candidate, but current evidence is not strong enough to promise general away admission or away colours.

General-pub access and official hospitality are different products. The official hospitality offer requires the relevant hospitality ticket; do not assume walk-in food or away access from hospitality details.

Taggy's Bar & Beer Garden

Taggy's is a strongly Liverpool-themed matchday bar rather than a neutral away stop. Its official site describes an LFC-memorabilia interior, a 250-seat beer garden, a large screen, a small football pitch for children and simple kitchen food. Recent supporter discussion continues to mention it as a popular Anfield Road pre-match option.

The children's pitch is a useful family signal, but no current published rule was found confirming matchday child admission, away-fan access or away colours. Treat all three as something to check for the specific fixture.

Hotel Tia

Hotel Tia currently promotes a matchday bar, front beer garden and rear terrace, with live screenings and its Pizza Tia food offer. The venue says its matchday lounge is used by regulars and visiting fans, but that wording does not clearly establish admission for supporters of the away team, so away access and colours remain unconfirmed.

Homebaked Anfield

The strongest food recommendation around Anfield: a community-owned bakery opposite the Kop with proper matchday provenance and specific Liverpool pies rather than generic stadium fast food.

Liverpool FC Fan Zones - Paisley Square and Anfield Road Family Park

Liverpool FC's current matchday setup includes fan zones at Paisley Square and the Anfield Road Family Park. The club's 2026 access statement says the fan zones open four hours before kick-off and provide live entertainment, food, drink and retail; current kick-off-specific pages list family activities, music, competitions and Mighty Red appearances.

Opening times depend on kick-off. A 2025 visiting-club guide said away supporters were welcomed, but the current 2026 Liverpool FC pages do not explicitly restate away-team admission or colour rules, so those fields remain unknown.

Accessibility

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

Contact Liverpool FC's disability team before booking if you need accessible parking or a shorter route to the away seats. Matchday spaces are very limited and allocated through an advance request or ballot, not on arrival. The club lists Arkles Lane/Wylva Road as an accessible drop-off option for the Anfield Road Stand. Away wheelchair provision depends on the fixture's allocation.

Accessible journeys

Liverpool's stadium accessibility hub describes up to 24 pitchside away positions, while another visiting-supporter page refers to 12 bays. Confirm your actual space and entrance with the club rather than assuming either number is guaranteed. YOUR AWAY DAY · Anfield

Before the match

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

Use Liverpool Lime Street for long-distance trains, then take the 917 express from nearby Commutation Row to Anfield. The club puts the bus journey at roughly 15 minutes, making it more useful than looking for a train that stops beside the ground. Check engineering works and leave time for the onward bus queue. If you are already travelling on Merseyrail, change onto the Northern line for Sandhills and use the matchday Soccerbus.

Station to ground & away entrance

Approach the away entrance from 97 Avenue for Liverpool's Anfield Road Stand. The club's visiting-supporter guide directs visiting fans to entrances Q and R, reached from the 97 Avenue side of Anfield Road rather than directly from Arkles Lane. Follow the coloured wayfinding and your match ticket because stewarded access can change. If you arrive from the Arkles Lane coach park, follow the route via Dahlia Walk through Stanley Park towards 97 Avenue.

Do not assume you can walk straight along Anfield Road: the club identifies a closed section between Skerries Road and Alroy Road. Get to your assigned entrance in good time for searching. Buses & local travel

Take the 917 from Commutation Row if you are coming from Lime Street or the city centre. For Merseyrail passengers, use Soccerbus from Sandhills, with an adult return currently £3.80 when added to a rail ticket or £4 bought aboard.

Merseyrail publishes a three-hour pre-match window and buses for up to 90 minutes after full-time. Allow for queues rather than planning a tight last train. If you're travelling from Liverpool ONE, Arriva runs the 926 out and 927 back. Parking

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

Don't rely on free residential parking at Anfield. Liverpool FC asks visiting drivers to avoid neighbourhood streets, and the council enforces football-match parking zones. There are a few designated free bays within those zones, but their exact positions and availability cannot be recommended as a reliable plan. For a straightforward drive-and-ride visit, use the Strand Shopping Centre multi-storey in Bootle, entering from Vermont Way, L20 4XZ.

Parking & park-and-ride

It charges £4 for four to five hours or £7.50 for longer stays. Walk to Bootle Bus Station for the 968 shuttle, costing £2 each way, then follow the wayfinding from Everton Valley to Anfield. If Bootle doesn't suit your journey, park in the city centre. Liverpool City Council's Mount Pleasant multi-storey is open 24 hours, with a £6.50 daytime five-hour tariff.

You can reach the 917 matchday bus from Commutation Row; Q-Park at Liverpool ONE is another 24-hour, pre-bookable option for the city-centre services. Allow at least four to five hours for parking, travel, security checks, the match and returning to your car. Bootle Strand publishes different closing times by fixture, so check its notice, particularly for evening and Sunday matches.

Arrive well before the last inbound shuttle rather than hoping to find a space near the ground. Do not use supermarket parking unless its operator explicitly authorises a football-length stay. We could not verify any nearby supermarket as suitable, and no advertised free on-street stretch was established far enough from the ground to recommend legally.

Booking a legitimate private driveway is possible, but check that the booking confirms use for the whole match and gives you the actual access instructions.

Worth knowing

Crystal Palace at Liverpool

For an away supporter, Anfield is worth reading as a neighbourhood and a piece of supporter theatre rather than merely ticking off a famous stadium. The mythology is real, but it is not automatic: the ground can be deafening on one occasion and ordinary on another. The interesting details are how much of the atmosphere is handmade, how tightly the modern stands sit inside L4, and how the club's triumphant imagery coexists with serious memorial culture.

Matchday advice: Don't rely on free residential parking at Anfield. Liverpool FC asks visiting drivers to avoid neighbourhood streets, and the council enforces football-match parking zones.

Trains

Rail, Underground & tram

Use Liverpool Lime Street for long-distance trains, then take the 917 express from nearby Commutation Row to Anfield. The club puts the bus journey at roughly 15 minutes, making it more useful than looking for a train that stops beside the ground. Check engineering works and leave time for the onward bus queue.

If you are already travelling on Merseyrail, change onto the Northern line for Sandhills and use the matchday Soccerbus. Sandhills and Kirkdale are both also roughly half an hour's walk from Anfield, so walking is the fallback if the shuttle queue is long. Neither station is right outside the turnstiles.

For a step-free railway journey, Lime Street, Sandhills and Kirkdale all currently list access to their platforms. Bank Hall does not, and is not a suitable substitute for someone who needs step-free access.

Liverpool's 2025/26 visiting guide says visiting turnstiles opened two hours before kick-off; confirm the time for your fixture.

Coaches

Away coaches

Supporters travelling on an organised away coach should follow their club's allocation and police or steward directions. Liverpool's official visiting guide names Arkles Lane as the usual visiting-coach parking area, but coach positions can change for individual fixtures or large allocations.

From Arkles Lane you still need to reach the away turnstiles via the Stanley Park route towards Dahlia Walk and 97 Avenue. Do not attempt the closed section of Anfield Road or assume the coach parking is beside the away entrance.

Before kick-off, agree a post-match meeting point with your coach organiser and keep the organiser's phone number. Return to the instructed coach location after the final whistle rather than following ordinary shuttle-bus queues, which use different stops.

Buses

Buses & local travel

Take the 917 from Commutation Row if you are coming from Lime Street or the city centre. Stagecoach runs its direct matchday shuttle from three and a half hours before kick-off, with returns from Walton Lane after the final whistle. The advertised adult fare is £2 single or £4 return.

Bootle's 968 service is a separate option for people using Strand parking; check where the return bus stops before kick-off.

Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Contact Liverpool FC's disability team before booking if you need accessible parking or a shorter route to the away seats. Matchday spaces are very limited and allocated through an advance request or ballot, not on arrival. The club lists Arkles Lane/Wylva Road as an accessible drop-off option for the Anfield Road Stand.

Away wheelchair provision depends on the fixture's allocation. Liverpool's stadium accessibility hub describes up to 24 pitchside away positions, while another visiting-supporter page refers to 12 bays. Confirm your actual space and entrance with the club rather than assuming either number is guaranteed.

Liverpool Lime Street, Sandhills and Kirkdale list step-free platform access, and the Soccerbus is described as accessible. Check live lifts and assistance before travel. For additional needs, contact disability@liverpoolfc.com or 0151 264 2500.

After the match

After the match

Plan your return transport before kick-off, because the roads around Anfield are heavily managed at full-time. For Lime Street and the city centre, follow signs to the 917 queue on Walton Lane. Stagecoach starts return buses after the final whistle, but the queue and journey can take longer after a major game.

For Merseyrail, use the Soccerbus back to Sandhills, then join your train. It normally runs for 90 minutes after the match, so check your final connection before choosing to stay behind. Liverpool ONE's 927 and Bootle Strand's 968 use different stops around Everton Valley and St Domingo Road.

If you have parked at Bootle Strand, return for the correct 968 and check its published car-park closing time. Drivers leaving authorised spaces near the stadium should expect Walton Breck Road closures and give pedestrians time to clear before moving off.

Where to stay

Stay around Lime Street and St George's Quarter if you want the simplest football journey. You'll be close to your inter-city train and the Commutation Row matchday shuttle, without having to spend the evening in the mainly residential streets immediately around Anfield.

For more pubs, restaurants and a late night, choose Ropewalks around Bold Street, Seel Street or Concert Square. You'll travel a little farther to the shuttle, but the city-centre choice is much wider than beside the stadium. Liverpool ONE is another useful base for fans using the 926 and 927 buses.

Stay near Anfield only if walking back after the match matters more than easy rail travel and city nightlife. Match nights can cause major hotel price changes, so check your actual date before booking and allow for late finishes.

PUB / BAR

The World Famous Arkles

77 Anfield Road, Liverpool, Merseyside, L4 0TJ
Usually away-friendlyFamily friendly
BEST FORaway supporters wanting a near-ground pint · supporters who want a classic football-pub atmosphere
MATCHDAY INTELThe Arkles remains the strongest evidenced near-ground away-pub lead. A Spurs supporter thread from September 2026 also treated it as the established away meeting point. However, other 2026 reports say access can vary or that near-ground pubs may lean home-only, so it should not be presented as guaranteed for every fixture.
WORTH KNOWINGTreat admission and away colours as fixture-dependent in practice even though the general away-access evidence is strong. Food evidence is contradictory: current Greene King pages show food/menu content, while 2026 Greene King promotion terms explicitly list Arkles among pubs that do not serve food.

The Sandon

166-182 Oakfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0UH

BEST FORhome supporters wanting club history and atmosphere · supporters using official Liverpool hospitality
MATCHDAY INTELThe Sandon is one of the defining home-support matchday venues around Anfield. Its current site markets a large fanzone for up to 5,000 Reds, while Liverpool FC sells official hospitality there with pre-match food. It is therefore a strong home-supporter candidate, but current evidence is not strong enough to promise general away admission or away colours.
WORTH KNOWINGGeneral-pub access and official hospitality are different products. The official hospitality offer requires the relevant hospitality ticket; do not assume walk-in food or away access from hospitality details.

Hotel Tia

21 Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TE
Away access: checkFood available
BEST FORsupporters wanting a drink and pizza close to Anfield · visitors who prefer a hotel-bar setting to a traditional pub
MATCHDAY INTELHotel Tia currently promotes a matchday bar, front beer garden and rear terrace, with live screenings and its Pizza Tia food offer. The venue says its matchday lounge is used by regulars and visiting fans, but that wording does not clearly establish admission for supporters of the away team, so away access and colours remain unconfirmed.
WORTH KNOWINGDo not interpret 'visiting fans' on the hotel site as a guaranteed away-fan policy. Fixture-specific admission and colours were not found in a current published rule.

Taggy's Bar & Beer Garden

21 Anfield Road, Anfield, Liverpool, L4 0TE
Away access: checkFamily: checkLimited food
BEST FORLiverpool supporters wanting a lively pre-match beer garden · groups wanting simple food and live football atmosphere
MATCHDAY INTELTaggy's is a strongly Liverpool-themed matchday bar rather than a neutral away stop. Its official site describes an LFC-memorabilia interior, a 250-seat beer garden, a large screen, a small football pitch for children and simple kitchen food. Recent supporter discussion continues to mention it as a popular Anfield Road pre-match option.
WORTH KNOWINGThe children's pitch is a useful family signal, but no current published rule was found confirming matchday child admission, away-fan access or away colours. Treat all three as something to check for the specific fixture.

BEST FORhome-ticket holders wanting food and drinks at the stadium · families wanting a documented kids menu · supporters who prefer an official club venue
MATCHDAY INTELThe Kop Bar is the clearest ticket-controlled home-support option. Liverpool FC says it opens three hours before every fixture, has space for more than 500 supporters and serves a full range of food including burgers, salads and a children's menu.
WORTH KNOWINGLiverpool FC explicitly states that entry on matchdays requires a home match ticket, so this is not an away-supporter recommendation.
