pies, bakery and breakfast

Homebaked Anfield

2 min walk

Good for local speciality · quick pre match food

The strongest food recommendation around Anfield: a community-owned bakery opposite the Kop with proper matchday provenance and specific Liverpool pies rather than generic stadium fast food.

Expect community · local speciality · quick food

Before you go Standard hours are Monday-Saturday 08:00-15:30 and Sunday closed. Check for matchday exceptions before relying on it for a Sunday or late kick-off.

Location and route
Directly opposite the Kop on Oakfield Road. It is exceptionally close to the stadium, although visiting supporters still need to allow time to walk round to the 97 Avenue approach for the away end.
Food & drink
Scouse Pie, Shankly Pie, Vegan Scouse and sausage rolls. The current online shop lists the Scouse and Shankly pies at £4.

fish and chips, Chinese takeaway

Kims Anfield Supper Bar

5 min walk

Good for Arkles stop · fish and chips

The practical food partner to an Arkles stop: a small takeaway beside the pub with recent matchday reviews praising fish and chips, curry and quick service.

Expect takeaway · matchday busy · quick food

Before you go No primary venue website was found. Current listings show Sunday closed, so verify opening before a Sunday fixture and expect queues when the Arkles is busy.

Location and route
Two doors along from the Arkles on Anfield Road. Handy for supporters already using the away pub, but remember the visiting turnstile route runs round towards 97 Avenue.
Food & drink
Fish and chips with curry and peas is the clearest current supporter recommendation; recent reports also praise the speed on busy matchdays.

breakfast and British cafe food

Anfield Cafe

5 min walk

Good for early arrivals · families

A straightforward family-run cafe next to the Arkles, best for breakfast or an early bite. It fills a useful gap for supporters arriving before the nearby pubs get going.

Expect family cafe · breakfast · quick food

Before you go Published standard hours differ slightly between current listings; the claimed venue page says matchday hours may extend, so check the day’s opening before travelling.

Location and route
Beside Kims and the Arkles on Anfield Road. It is a particularly useful early-arrival food stop for families or supporters who do not want a pub meal.
Food & drink
Breakfasts and breakfast sandwiches are the main reason to use it; the venue-managed listing says it opens earlier on matchdays and stays open to kick-off for night games.

sit-in and takeaway

81 Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TJ

Chinese takeaway and fish and chips

Sing Fong Take Away

3 min walk

Good for cheap eat · chips and curry

A proper old-school Anfield takeaway lead, useful for chips or Chinese food close to the ground. The attraction is locality and speed, not certainty: published opening information is messy.

Expect old school takeaway · matchday · quick food

Before you go Check before relying on it. Tripadvisor shows broad daily split hours, while a June 2026 listing carries a recent complaint that it now opens mainly for matches.

Location and route
On Walton Breck Road by the stadium, convenient for a quick feed before circling to the away approach. It is a local matchday lead rather than a dependable all-day restaurant.
Food & drink
Chinese takeaway, fish and chips and curry chips; supporter discussion repeatedly treats it as a long-standing matchday stop.

Meal options on the Walton Road side

These options need their own final approach to Anfield. Read the route and service details rather than treating them as turnstile-side kiosks.

Pub food

The Thomas Frost

20 min walk

Good for groups · food and pint

A practical fallback rather than an Anfield institution. Recent away guidance lists it for travelling fans, and its size makes it useful when the closer pubs are packed.

Expect large pub · sports tv · budget

Before you go Away admission is supported by independent and older visiting-club guidance, not a published current Wetherspoon football policy. Expect it to become very busy on matchdays.

Location and route
On Walton Road in Kirkdale, away from the most Liverpool-heavy pubs immediately around Anfield. Current ground guidance puts it about 20 minutes on foot from the stadium.
Food & drink
Standard Wetherspoon menu rather than a Liverpool-specific food stop; useful when a group wants a sit-down meal and pint before walking on.

Eating around Lime Street before travelling to Anfield

A city-centre meal suits the start of the journey to Anfield. Allow time to leave the centre and reach the visiting entrance.

Pub food

Yates Liverpool

Good for train arrivals meeting in the city centre · away supporters who have fixture-specific confirmation

Yates is a useful city-centre lead rather than a universal away pub. It reopened after a major refurbishment in August 2026 with an upgraded sports setup and new food offer.

Expect city-centre sports bar · large-screen football venue · practical meeting point near Lime Street

Before you go Confirm away admission and colours for the specific fixture. The available away-supporter evidence is explicit but fixture-specific.

That welcome should not be assumed for every opponent.

Expect city centre · sports bar · large group

Before you go Check your own club’s away guide before relying on admission in colours.

Location and route
Queen Square, roughly a three-minute walk from Lime Street and opposite the main bus station. It is a convenient train-arrival meeting point before the 917 or other buses out to Anfield.
Food & drink
Refurbished in August 2026 with a new food offer; useful for breakfast, a pub meal or a quick pre-bus feed rather than destination dining.

Pub food

Ma Egerton's Stage Door

Good for train arrivals · small groups

A useful independent alternative immediately around Lime Street. It appears in visiting-supporter discussion as a decent town pub, but there is no evidence of an organised away-fan policy.

Expect historic pub · city centre · quieter meet

Location and route
Behind the Empire Theatre beside Lime Street; CAMRA puts the station around 200 metres away. It is a low-friction train-arrival pub rather than an Anfield-area venue.
Food & drink
Rustic homemade pizzas from the pub’s Old Fashioned Pizza Shop and cheeseboards are advertised midday to 19:00.

A food stop for a longer Liverpool visit

This is a separate city food stop rather than a quick ground-side fallback. Plan the stadium journey around it if you are making more of the trip.

street-food hall

Baltic Market

Good for overnight stays · mixed groups

Best used by groups staying in the Baltic Triangle or making a day of Liverpool. Multiple traders solve the usual problem of everyone wanting something different.

Expect food hall · group friendly · overnight area

Before you go Closed Monday and Tuesday under the current published hours. It is not close to Anfield, so build the stadium transfer into your plan.

Location and route
In the Baltic Triangle south of the city centre. This is an overnight-stay/group option, not a ground-side stop; leave time to return towards Lime Street/Queen Square or arrange a taxi to Anfield.
Food & drink
Current traders include Polpetta, Listo Burrito, Nashville Cluck, Spice Thai, Little Furnace, La Bistroteca and Çat Kapı, giving mixed groups far more choice than a single pub kitchen.

These options need their own location and admission checks. Read the venue detail before adding a stop to your matchday plans.

Pub food

The Sandon

Good for home supporters wanting club history and atmosphere · supporters using official Liverpool hospitality

The Sandon is one of the defining home-support matchday venues around Anfield. Its current site markets a large fanzone for up to 5,000 Reds, while Liverpool FC sells official hospitality there with pre-match food. It is therefore a strong home-supporter candidate, but current evidence is not strong enough to promise general away admission or away colours.

Expect historic Liverpool FC pub · large home-supporter fanzone · live-music matchday atmosphere

Before you go General-pub access and official hospitality are different products. The official hospitality offer requires the relevant hospitality ticket; do not assume walk-in food or away access from hospitality details.

Pub food

Hotel Tia

Good for supporters wanting a drink and pizza close to Anfield · visitors who prefer a hotel-bar setting to a traditional pub

Hotel Tia currently promotes a matchday bar, front beer garden and rear terrace, with live screenings and its Pizza Tia food offer. The venue says its matchday lounge is used by regulars and visiting fans, but that wording does not clearly establish admission for supporters of the away team, so away access and colours remain unconfirmed.

Expect matchday hotel bar · front beer garden and rear terrace · live match screenings

Before you go Do not interpret 'visiting fans' on the hotel site as a guaranteed away-fan policy. Fixture-specific admission and colours were not found in a current published rule.

Liverpool FC Fan Zones - Paisley Square and Anfield Road Family Park

Good for families attending Anfield · home supporters wanting an official pre-match build-up

Liverpool FC's current matchday setup includes fan zones at Paisley Square and the Anfield Road Family Park. The club's 2026 access statement says the fan zones open four hours before kick-off and provide live entertainment, food, drink and retail; current kick-off-specific pages list family activities, music, competitions and Mighty Red appearances.

Expect official pre-match fan zone · live music and activities · family-focused Anfield Road area

Before you go Opening times depend on kick-off. A 2025 visiting-club guide said away supporters were welcomed, but the current 2026 Liverpool FC pages do not explicitly restate away-team admission or colour rules, so those fields remain unknown.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay around Lime Street and St George's Quarter if you want the simplest football journey. You'll be close to your inter-city train and the Commutation Row matchday shuttle, without having to spend the evening in the mainly residential streets immediately around Anfield. For more pubs, restaurants and a late night, choose Ropewalks around Bold Street, Seel Street or Concert Square. You'll travel a little farther to the shuttle, but the city-centre choice is much wider than beside the stadium. Liverpool ONE is another useful base for fans using the 926 and 927 buses. Stay near Anfield only if walking back after the match matters more than easy rail travel and city nightlife. Match nights can cause major hotel price changes, so check your actual date before booking and allow for late finishes.

Ropewalks ↗

For most supporters, base yourself around Lime Street/St George's Quarter for the easiest rail arrival and matchday transfer, or in Ropewalks if bars, food and a late night matter more. Staying beside Anfield makes sense when the priority is being able to walk straight back after the final whistle, an early stadium tour, or soaking up the football atmosphere rather than having the city on the doorstep.

For the evening

Ropewalks is the strongest all-round nightlife base, especially around Seel Street, Fleet Street, Slater Street, Concert Square and Bold Street. The Cavern Quarter and Baltic Triangle are useful alternatives depending on whether you want live music/traditional central nightlife or warehouse bars and food-market style venues.

For the train

Liverpool Lime Street is the main inter-city rail gateway and is unusually useful for Anfield: the 917 express runs from Commutation Row near the station and Liverpool FC says the journey is about 15 minutes. Post-match 917 buses are stacked on Walton Lane; the Soccerbus also links Anfield with Sandhills.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into Anfield

Approach the away entrance from 97 Avenue for Liverpool's Anfield Road Stand. The club's visiting-supporter guide directs visiting fans to entrances Q and R, reached from the 97 Avenue side of Anfield Road rather than directly from Arkles Lane. Follow the coloured wayfinding and your match ticket because stewarded access can change. If you arrive from the Arkles Lane coach park, follow the route via Dahlia Walk through Stanley Park towards 97 Avenue. Do not assume you can walk straight along Anfield Road: the club identifies a closed section between Skerries Road and Alroy Road. Get to your assigned entrance in good time for searching. Liverpool's 2025/26 visiting guide says visiting turnstiles opened two hours before kick-off; confirm the time for your fixture.

02 · Before the match
