FIXTURE STORY

FOLLOW BURNLEY TO QUEENS PARK RANGERS

Recent results give Burnley five points from a possible fifteen, with one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five league games. Over their last five recorded league games, Queens Park Rangers have taken six points from a possible fifteen: one win, three draws and one defeat.

Burnley are 22nd in the Championship after 11 league games, with 8 points. The pre-season outlook had them down as promotion and play-off contenders. They have ground to make up on that early ambition. Burnley are in the bottom three, one point behind the side immediately above the relegation places. A result here would help the effort to climb out; it would not settle the season on its own.

Queens Park Rangers are 9th in the Championship after 11 league games, with 17 points. They started the campaign regarded as a side with survival to secure. Queens Park Rangers are four points off 8th and the last of the six Championship play-off places. That is a gap to work on, not a reason to assume a place is already within reach.

The destination is MATRADE Loftus Road in London. Work back from kick-off when deciding whether this is a day trip or a night away. For a first-choice football stay, base yourself around Shepherd's Bush Green / Rockley Road / Shepherd's Bush Market. It keeps Loftus Road within roughly 10–20 minutes on foot for the recommended hotels and puts both Tube/Overground options and a large food-and-drink catchment nearby. There is little reason for most visitors to move into central London unless the wider city night out matters more than the matchday convenience.

For Burnley supporters, the point of the trip is being there for the team. Once tickets and kick-off are confirmed, work out whether the journey home leaves time for a meal or a drink, or whether a night away makes the better day of it.

Table and form checked 22 October.

ibis London Shepherds Bush - Hammersmith

ibis London Shepherds Bush - Hammersmith

Shepherd's Bush / West 12

The strongest all-round MatchdayHotels choice for most QPR visitors: a dependable three-star chain with a materially better current review profile than several nearer budget options, still walkable to Loftus Road, and well placed for Shepherd's Bush Green, Westfield and onward transport.

  • Current Booking.com score around 8.2 and Tripadvisor around 4.3/5 give it a stronger cross-platform quality signal than many similarly located budget/mid-range options.
  • About 0.7 miles from Loftus Road, so a post-match walk is realistic and avoids relying on a short Tube or bus hop through crowded local streets.
The match journey

Tripadvisor's current Loftus Road proximity page places the hotel at about 0.7 miles from the stadium. The walking time is a practical editorial estimate rather than a route-engine measurement.

The trade-off

It is roughly twice the landmark distance of Hotel Shepherds Bush London, so supporters who value the shortest possible walk may prefer the closer option.

WHY STAY HERE?

ibis London Shepherds Bush - Hammersmith

Shepherd's Bush / West 12

Our view

The strongest all-round MatchdayHotels choice for most QPR visitors: a dependable three-star chain with a materially better current review profile than several nearer budget options, still walkable to Loftus Road, and well placed for Shepherd's Bush Green, Westfield and onward transport. It is not the very closest hotel, but the extra few minutes on foot buys a more consistent quality record without moving into Hoxton-level pricing.

Why it suits this trip

  • Current Booking.com score around 8.2 and Tripadvisor around 4.3/5 give it a stronger cross-platform quality signal than many similarly located budget/mid-range options.
  • About 0.7 miles from Loftus Road, so a post-match walk is realistic and avoids relying on a short Tube or bus hop through crowded local streets.
  • Very close to Shepherd's Bush Central/Overground and the Westfield side of the neighbourhood, useful for arrivals, food and a later evening.
  • Current official and recent review evidence repeatedly mentions cleanliness, practical location and friendly staff.
  • Price sampling places it in the value end of this local shortlist, although London/event volatility is substantial.

Getting to the ground

Tripadvisor's current Loftus Road proximity page places the hotel at about 0.7 miles from the stadium. The walking time is a practical editorial estimate rather than a route-engine measurement.

Pubs and the evening

A short walk reaches the main Shepherd's Bush evening cluster, O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire and the Green; Westfield adds a large choice of restaurants. The hotel itself also has a bar/restaurant.

Arriving by train

The official Accor page describes Shepherd's Bush station as about a five-minute walk; Shepherd's Bush Market on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines is also nearby.

The trade-offs

  • It is roughly twice the landmark distance of Hotel Shepherds Bush London, so supporters who value the shortest possible walk may prefer the closer option.
  • The room product is functional rather than characterful; this is a practical football-trip recommendation, not a boutique stay.
  • Recent negative reviews are not absent: isolated complaints mention service, noise, climate control and housekeeping.
  • The sampled weekend range is unusually wide, so the average can hide very cheap or very expensive individual dates.

Research price context

Sampled around £135–£160 midweek. The three sampled weekends ranged very widely from about £75 to £225, averaging about £165; this is a volatile London market rather than a reliable fixed weekend premium.

  • Its small scale suits supporters who want a bed near the ground rather than a large destination hotel.

WHY STAY HERE?

Hotel Shepherds Bush London

Uxbridge Road / Shepherd's Bush Market

Our view

The closest practical hotel choice we are comfortable putting forward. Booking.com places it about 1,900 ft from Loftus Road, and it sits beside Shepherd's Bush Market station on the same broad Uxbridge Road corridor as the ground. It is a small independent rather than a full-service chain hotel: current feedback is mostly positive on staff, cleanliness and convenience, but there is more variability than at the ibis or Hoxton.

Why it suits this trip

  • Booking.com places it about 1,900 ft from Loftus Road, making it the nearest conventional hotel in the stronger-quality part of the local shortlist.
  • Shepherd's Bush Market station is immediately useful for Circle/Hammersmith & City services, while the Green and Westfield are still close.
  • Its small scale suits supporters who want a bed near the ground rather than a large destination hotel.
  • Booking.com location and staff sub-scores are strong, and 2026 Tripadvisor feedback repeatedly praises staff and cleanliness.

Getting to the ground

Booking.com's current Loftus Road hotel page lists the property at about 1,900 ft from the stadium (roughly 0.36 miles). Walking time is a practical editorial estimate, not a route-engine measurement.

Pubs and the evening

Well placed for local pubs, restaurants, the market and the Green; less of an in-hotel social destination than The Hoxton.

Arriving by train

The hotel official site names Shepherd's Bush Market as its nearest Tube station; Shepherd's Bush Central/Overground is also within the wider local cluster.

The trade-offs

  • Overall Booking.com score is around 7.9: respectable, but less consistent than the ibis or Hoxton.
  • Some rooms are small and there are reports of street/tube noise despite many guests finding rooms quiet.
  • Isolated reviews mention maintenance and cleanliness details; this is why it wins proximity rather than the overall recommendation.
  • Weekend pricing can rise sharply on busy dates despite the modest scale of the property.

Research price context

Sampled about £150–£175 midweek, averaging roughly £160. Sampled weekends were about £160–£270 and averaged roughly £200, so busy Saturdays can carry a meaningful premium.

Shepherd's Bush Green

Our view

The best choice if the overnight stay is part of the night out rather than just somewhere to sleep. It sits directly on Shepherd's Bush Green, has its own lively bar and Chet's restaurant, and is still only about 2,350 ft from Loftus Road by Booking.com's landmark measure. • Directly in the Shepherd's Bush Green evening cluster, with an in-house wraparound bar and Chet's restaurant.
  • About 2,350 ft from Loftus Road on Booking.com's nearby-hotel page, so supporters can still walk back after the match.
  • Excellent option for couples or groups who want a more polished social hotel rather than a basic overnight base.
  • Very good access to Shepherd's Bush transport and Westfield dining.

Getting to the ground

Booking.com's current Loftus Road hotel page lists the property at about 2,350 ft from the stadium (roughly 0.45 miles). Walking time is a practical editorial estimate, not a route-engine measurement.

Pubs and the evening

The hotel is itself part of the evening scene, with a busy bar and Chet's restaurant; the Green, Uxbridge Road, Goldhawk Road and O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire are all in the immediate local cluster.

Arriving by train

Well placed for the Shepherd's Bush interchange; Shepherd's Bush Market is also a short walk on the opposite side of the Green.

The trade-offs

  • Usually the priciest of the primary recommendations.
  • Some room categories are deliberately compact.
  • A busy public bar is part of the appeal but can be a downside on Saturday nights for guests seeking a quiet hotel atmosphere.
  • Recent reviews include some value-for-money and internal-noise criticism despite the strong overall scores.

Research price context

Sampled about £220–£270 midweek, averaging roughly £245. The sampled weekends ranged about £145–£245 and averaged roughly £190; in this small sample weekends were not consistently dearer, underlining how event/date-specific west-London pricing can be.

What to expect at Queens Park Rangers

All the key information for Burnley supporters heading to MATRADE Loftus Road — from the ground and atmosphere to food, access, parking and matchday practicalities.

#BurnleyFC#Clarets
YOUR AWAY DAY · MATRADE Loftus Road

The ground

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

Compact, enclosed and close to the pitch. Those qualities can sharpen noise and sightlines but also produce tight concourses and less comfort than a modern bowl. That tension is part of the character rather than something to airbrush out.

Recorded capacity
18,439

Views from the away section

Close to the action but restricted-view risk and roof/support geometry are more common than at modern stadiums.

Why the ground matters

Loftus Road matters because it feels accumulated rather than designed. QPR's early nomadism, the failed White City move, the artificial-pitch years, rugby and football groundshares, community memorials and sponsor names have all been layered onto the same tight W12 site. The ground is not simply old; it is where different versions of QPR keep ending up.

Stand features

The former Ellerslie Road Stand was renamed in 2022 for Stan Bowles.

The current official guide places visiting supporters in the upper tier of the away end; Football Ground Guide gives a normal upper-tier capacity of about 1,800, with configurations able to change.

The current club guide points supporters seeking the livelier atmosphere towards R Block or QU.

Official club material in 2026 uses MATRADE Loftus Road.

Atmosphere & acoustics

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

The tight enclosure creates excellent noise when the crowd is engaged.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

Current Hull supporter guidance links Loftus Road's strong small-ground atmosphere to its tight, compact layout.

Born Blue and White

Dean McKee's local poem was played before home matches by 2020 and explicitly tied the club to its Shepherd's Bush community.

Come on you R's / Up the R's

Simple 'R's' language is deeply embedded in fanzine and official supporter vocabulary rather than depending on one authored anthem.

Remembering club figures through the ground itself

Stan Bowles is literally on the stadium map through the stand named for him, while Kiyan Prince's memory occupied the name of the whole ground for three seasons.

Supporter consultation on identity assets

Supporter interpretation

The 1949 shirt vote and the 2015-16 crest process are separated by decades but share a recognisable instinct: supporters expect a say when core visual identity changes.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · MATRADE Loftus Road

Food & drink

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

QPR is best treated as a Shepherd’s Bush away day rather than a hunt for a pub beside Loftus Road. White City and Wood Lane are quickest for the turnstiles, but rail and Overground arrivals who want a pre-match drink should meet around Shepherd’s Bush Green.

Food and drink around the ground

Belushi’s remains the clearest designated away bar, with Sindercombe Social the strongest second option; the pubs closest to the ground are mostly Rangers territory and some doors check tickets as well as colours. Pavilion on Wood Lane is a useful family-friendly fallback, though its football policy is less explicit.

For food, Mr Falafel and Bian Dang in Shepherd’s Bush Market are quick and independent, Abu Zaad works for a proper Middle Eastern meal, and Esarn Kheaw suits evening games. Away fans are normally in the School End Upper Tier, with extra lower-tier capacity for larger followings. The away kiosks sell food, soft drinks and usually alcohol, but London derbies can bring tighter police-led restrictions.

For overnight stays, Shepherd’s Bush/Westfield is the most practical base; Hammersmith is the sensible wider-hotel alternative.

Belushi's Shepherd's Bush

The safest default away pub in W12. QPR and visiting-club guides repeatedly designate Belushi’s for visiting supporters, and it sits directly opposite Shepherd’s Bush station with food and big-screen sport.

Accessibility

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

Arrange accessible match tickets through your own club before travelling, and tell them about any assistance you need on arrival. QPR lists ten visiting wheelchair spaces in School End block Z6, with accessible toilets, but the precise entrance and companion arrangements should be confirmed for your allocation. Wood Lane is the recommended Tube station for wheelchair access.

Accessible journeys

It has lifts and manual boarding-ramp provision; from there the route to the stadium takes around ten minutes in the accessibility guide. Do not assume White City offers the same step-free access. There is no general stadium car park to rely on for away supporters. Westfield provides Blue Badge bays and a four-hour validation concession, but allow enough time to avoid extra charges.

Ask QPR in advance about accessible coach drop-off or taxi arrangements, especially while South Africa Road is closed.

Planning your arrival

Be at the stadium perimeter before the busiest turnstile period.

Rail, Underground & tram

It has lifts and a boarding ramp arrangement, making it the better Tube option to investigate if you need step-free travel. Shepherd's Bush has both a Central line station and an Overground station, around 15 minutes from the stadium. Station to ground & away entrance

Head for Ellerslie Road and turnstile 2 if your ticket is for the usual upper-tier away section in the School End. From White City, use Wood Lane and South Africa Road to approach the stadium, then follow the stewards round to Ellerslie Road. QPR sometimes opens the lower School End when visiting allocations are larger.

In that case, its stadium guide also identifies turnstile 3 on South Africa Road, so use the entrance stated on your ticket rather than assuming all visiting fans take the same turnstile. The Wood Lane Estate shortcut opposite White City station is gated for residents on matchdays. Keep to the public streets and allow extra time to navigate the short, busy roads immediately around the ground.

If you need a bus, services 72, 207 and 260 serve Bloemfontein Road on the White City side of the stadium.

Walk the remainder, keeping in mind that buses can be diverted when the nearby roads close for football. Do not follow older away guides that tell you to use the 283. TfL decided to withdraw that route and change services 72 and N72 instead. Check your outward and return stop using current TfL journey planning.

YOUR AWAY DAY · MATRADE Loftus Road

Parking

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

Book a legitimate parking space or use Westfield London rather than rely on finding free parking beside Loftus Road. The stadium has almost no public parking, and matchday road closures make searching the closest streets a poor plan. Advance booking is most useful when you need a known location or expect to arrive shortly before kick-off. Westfield London, W12 7GF, is the simplest pay-on-arrival option.

Parking & park-and-ride

Its public car parks have thousands of spaces, open for entry from 5am until 3am with exits available around the clock. Allow roughly 10–20 minutes to reach the School End away turnstiles. A four-to-six-hour stay currently costs £11.50 at weekends and £9.50 on weekdays. Free parking is possible in some signed shared-use bays outside controlled hours, but we could not confirm a specific bay to recommend.

Zone JJ, covering streets such as Stanlake Road, Tunis Road and part of Ellerslie Road, operates daily until 9pm. Zone J farther west generally has weekday controls only, while the more distant Zone N is also usually weekday-controlled. Individual bay signs and matchday suspensions still decide whether parking is lawful. If you prefer to reserve a private driveway, JustPark lists bookable options around Shepherd's Bush.

Check the exact address, permitted dates, entry instructions, cancellation rules and the entire stay before paying. Westfield also offers pre-booking, although the booking terms must be checked to establish what is guaranteed. Arrive about 90 minutes before kick-off and budget at least four hours on the vehicle, including both walks and full-time delays.

Do not leave your car in a supermarket's customer-only bays without explicit permission covering football and that duration. For evening games, Sundays and bank holidays, never assume that an ordinary weekday or weekend parking sign overrides a matchday suspension.

Parking verdict

Driving & road restrictions

If you must drive, head for a pre-booked private space or Westfield London rather than setting your sat-nav to the stadium. The A40 and West Cross Route provide approaches to Westfield, where you can leave the car and walk to the match without attempting the residential roads immediately around Loftus Road. QPR closes nearby streets around kick-off.

The club's guide says closures generally start about 90 minutes before the match, while the borough's traffic schedule allows earlier restrictions and parking suspensions on named streets. Never assume a route to a booked space will remain accessible just because it appears open on an ordinary day. Shepherd's Bush is inside London's ULEZ, so check your vehicle before setting off.

It is outside the central Congestion Charge area on the usual direct approach, but travelling through central London could bring a separate charge.

Comfort & weather

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

The forecast loads when you open this topic. Comfort and shelter guidance is below.

Legroom and concourse space are notably tight.

Shelter and exposure

Supporter observation

Supporters have described the Loftus Road concourse as cramped, particularly when the away end is busy. Expect tighter circulation than you would get at a newer ground.

YOUR AWAY DAY · MATRADE Loftus Road

Worth knowing

Burnley at Queens Park Rangers

For an away supporter, Loftus Road is interesting because the ground's identity is felt at close range. The upper-tier away position, short distance to the pitch and enclosed geometry make it unlike a modern edge-of-town bowl. The trade-off is that circulation space can be tight, so 'character' and 'comfort' should not be confused.

Matchday features

Exceptional compactness. Tight legroom/concourse. Step-free limitations. Strong acoustics

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

The pitch feels close

The compact stands and upper-tier away position keep the football visually near even when you are above the goal.

The home atmosphere has identifiable pockets

QPR's own guide currently points to R Block and QU as livelier sections rather than pretending atmosphere is uniform around the ground.

The stadium carries names with stories

Stan Bowles, Kiyan Prince and changing sponsors all appear in the ground's recent naming history.

This is a ground with odd layers

Artificial turf, boxing, rugby and a Fulham groundshare all belong to Loftus Road's history.

How little separation there is between football ground and neighbourhood

Loftus Road is experienced as a compact W12 ground rather than a detached stadium campus; current club guidance even reminds crowds to respect residential neighbours.

The Bowles name on a stand

It turns an abstract club legend into something a visitor physically sits beside or opposite.

Sponsored names layered over older names

MATRADE is current in 2026, while supporters and historical sources still orient themselves by Loftus Road and older stand names. Treat commercial labels as changeable.

The ground's non-football past

A world-title boxing night and years hosting Wasps sit underneath the ordinary league-match surface.

A detail worth noticing

The site was used for football before QPR, first by Shepherd's Bush FC in 1904.

Supporter interpretation

QPR's own guide counts 14 grounds across the club's history, which makes the persistence of Loftus Road more striking.

The 1981 artificial pitch made Loftus Road a national football talking point and remained until 1988.

For three seasons, the stadium name itself was used to amplify a youth and anti-knife-crime charity chosen by supporters.

The stadium's local civic role was especially visible in the sell-out 2017 benefit match after the Grenfell Tower fire.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

Trains

Rail, Underground & tram

Use White City on the Central line if you want the shortest straightforward Tube walk. QPR puts the stadium about five minutes away, although you should still allow time to reach the School End entrance rather than just the first stadium wall.

Wood Lane, on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, is another convenient arrival, about seven minutes from the ground in the club guide. It has lifts and a boarding ramp arrangement, making it the better Tube option to investigate if you need step-free travel.

Shepherd's Bush has both a Central line station and an Overground station, around 15 minutes from the stadium. Choose it if you want to meet friends around Shepherd's Bush Green first; check your actual train and last connection before a midweek match.

Away coaches

Travel with your visiting club's official coach if you want to avoid sorting out London parking. The borough's football traffic schedule reserves coach parking on Dorando Close, off South Africa Road, but your organiser should confirm the actual drop-off and collection arrangements for your match.

The away turnstiles are around the other side of the compact stadium on Ellerslie Road, so follow stewards rather than assuming you will be dropped at the entrance. The coach area and its surrounding roads are subject to closures and controlled departures.

If anyone in your party needs a shorter walk or accessible vehicle access, ask the visiting club to arrange this with QPR before travelling. An ordinary coach-space allocation does not by itself guarantee an accessible drop-off at the away gate.

Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Arrange accessible match tickets through your own club before travelling, and tell them about any assistance you need on arrival. QPR lists ten visiting wheelchair spaces in School End block Z6, with accessible toilets, but the precise entrance and companion arrangements should be confirmed for your allocation.

Wood Lane is the recommended Tube station for wheelchair access.

After the match

After the match

Walk back to White City or Wood Lane rather than arrange a taxi immediately outside Loftus Road. Matchday restrictions on South Africa Road, Ellerslie Road and neighbouring streets can remain in place while crowds disperse, so a pickup near a closed road may leave you waiting.

If returning to Shepherd's Bush, use the public streets rather than the Wood Lane Estate shortcut, which QPR closes to non-residents on matchdays. Allow a margin for station crowds and check your final onward train, especially after a late kick-off or a cup tie that could go to extra time.

Drivers should expect delays retrieving and exiting vehicles near White City and the A40. Westfield's public car parks permit exit around the clock, but that does not mean the roads outside will be clear immediately after full-time.

Where to stay

Stay in Shepherd's Bush or White City for a football-first visit. Both put you close to the ground, with Tube stations, food and the Westfield shopping area nearby, so you can walk to the match without arranging a taxi or worrying about the stadium streets closing.

Shepherd's Bush Green is a better base if pubs, restaurants and an evening out matter more than the shortest walk. It also works well for Overground and Central line arrivals, whereas staying by White City makes the final walk and the next-morning Westfield access simpler.

For a wider London weekend, Hammersmith is another practical interchange, but it adds an onward Tube or bus trip to the stadium. Decide on the return route first for midweek fixtures rather than pay extra to be close to the ground when the last connection will still be tight.

AWAY-DAY OVERVIEW

Before you head to the ground

QPR is best treated as a Shepherd’s Bush away day rather than a hunt for a pub beside Loftus Road. White City and Wood Lane are quickest for the turnstiles, but rail and Overground arrivals who want a pre-match drink should meet around Shepherd’s Bush Green.

15 min walkAway fans welcomeFamily friendlyFood available
BEST FORsecond away-pub option · groups wanting food · Goldhawk Road arrivals · live sport
MATCHDAY INTELThe strongest alternative to Belushi’s. Visiting-supporter and police-linked guidance has recognised Sindercombe Social as an away venue, while the current pub still offers food, live sport and plenty of space.
WORTH KNOWINGWalking estimates vary and a current colours policy is not published. For a large following, confirm the fixture-specific door policy rather than assuming historic recognition always applies.

20 min walkAway fans welcomeFood available
BEST FORaway supporters wanting certainty · Shepherd's Bush arrivals · large groups · food and football on TV
MATCHDAY INTELThe safest default away pub in W12. QPR and visiting-club guides repeatedly designate Belushi’s for visiting supporters, and it sits directly opposite Shepherd’s Bush station with food and big-screen sport.
WORTH KNOWINGCapacity can be tested by large followings. Away admission is clear, but a current published colours rule was not found; higher-risk fixtures can still bring police-led restrictions.

The Pavilion

Wood Lane, Shepherd's Bush, London W12 0HQ

BEST FORfamilies · White City arrivals · proper pub meal · supporters avoiding Shepherd's Bush Green crowds
MATCHDAY INTELA useful quieter alternative on the White City side, with food, a garden and family facilities. Current ground guidance includes it among away options, although its own site does not publish a football-admission policy.
WORTH KNOWINGAway access is guide-based rather than a venue-published rule. Ring ahead for large groups or visible colours, particularly for London derbies.

What to eatQPR confirms two visiting-supporter kiosks with food, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. A 2026 stadium-wide board also showed burgers, cheeseburgers, dirty chicken fries and a pie-and-pint deal, but those exact items are not guaranteed in the away kiosks.

The reliable fallback after entry: QPR documents two away kiosks with food, soft drinks and alcohol. The concourse is famously tight, so eating before the ground is usually the more comfortable option.
