Match night · 2 guests · 1 room
Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel
Iffley Village
This is the best balance for a supporter who wants a decent hotel rather than simply the nearest bed. It is in quieter Iffley, close enough to the Kassam to keep the football transfer manageable, with free parking and a nearby 3A route, while the sampled prices were far below the central Courtyard. Recent review evidence is strongest on cleanliness, comfort and helpful staff.
- South-Oxford location keeps the ground materially closer than a city-centre stay.
- Free on-site parking is useful for supporters driving into Oxford.
Approximately 1.5 miles from the Kassam area by local-distance evidence. Walking is realistic for able supporters, but the practical advantage is the south-Oxford location plus nearby 3A service; Westbury Crescent is reported at about an 11-minute walk from the hotel.
It is not beside Oxford's main nightlife; city-centre bars and restaurants still require a walk, bus or taxi.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.
Hampton by Hilton Oxford
Grenoble Road / Ozone
If the priority is getting to and from the match with almost no fuss, this is the practical pick. The Kassam is about a three-minute walk away, parking and breakfast are included, and the current Booking.com/review evidence is stronger than the other stadium-adjacent chain. The sacrifice is obvious: you are sleeping by a leisure/science-park area, not in Oxford's evening centre.
- Approximately three minutes on foot from the Kassam.
- Free parking reduces matchday logistics for drivers.
Hotels.com lists the Kassam Stadium at about 0.2 miles / three minutes on foot; this is the most straightforward verified stadium-first option.
The immediate area is weak for pubs and nightlife compared with central Oxford or Cowley Road.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.
Courtyard by Marriott Oxford City Centre
Oxford city centre / Castle Quarter
This is the pick when the match is part of a wider night in Oxford. Paradise Street puts you beside the Castle Quarter and Westgate and within easy walking distance of George Street and the railway station. Recent reviews are unusually strong on location, cleanliness and staff. It is not the value choice: sampled Friday rates climbed well above £250 and the Kassam still needs a bus or taxi.
- Excellent central location for restaurants, bars and an after-match evening.
- Walkable from Oxford railway station.
Treat this as a city-centre base, not a stadium hotel. Use the club's city-centre 3A connection or a taxi for the Kassam.
Roughly 3.5 miles from the Kassam, so walking to the match is not practical.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Set your sat-nav to Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford OX4 4XP. The ground is signposted from the A4074 with brown football signs; visiting drivers should follow the stadium entrance signs for car park B1. Allow extra time rather than assuming the final approach will be quick on a busy fixture.
There is a significant upcoming traffic change. A county council notice says a Grenoble Road matchday traffic order comes into force on 26 October 2026, with roundabout controls and waiting restrictions when activated. Earlier club notices also describe roadworks and one-way exit arrangements during 2025/26, but those should not be treated as current without a fixture check. Follow stewards and temporary signs rather than an old route screenshot.
- Sat-nav
- Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford, OX4 4XP.
- Approach
- Signed from the A4074, following signs for B1 visiting parking.
- Traffic order effective date
- 26 October 2026 (date stated in public notice; controls activated on match/event days).
- Traffic-order scope
- Four Grenoble Road roundabouts between Robert Robinson Avenue and Guelder Road; waiting/loading restrictions and possible closures.
- Former roadworks arrangements
- Oxford United announced restrictions in 2025/26; whether every temporary detail remains active in October 2026 was not verified.
Parking & park-and-ride
You do not need to book parking for an ordinary Oxford United home match. The Kassam provides around 2,000 free spaces, first come, first served, making its car parks a better bet than neighbouring streets.
Away supporters should aim for car park B1 beside the North Stand, using the main stadium entrance. The 2026/27 guide also identifies G2, while the club's general page refers to B2; follow the stewards to the available area. Overflow parking is beyond the Vue cinema and club shop.
Do not plan around residential streets in Blackbird Leys West, Brake Hill, Fry's Hill or Minchery Farm. The council lists event-day parking controls there. From 26 October 2026, a new traffic order allows suspension of Grenoble Road parking on matchdays.
If you would rather avoid the stadium queues, Sainsbury's Heyford Hill has a separate, authorised YourParkingSpace booking product. Supporters report a roughly 20–25-minute walk to the ground, though the final approach to the North Stand may take longer. Ordinary customer parking is not permission to leave your car for football.
Arrive around 90 minutes before kick-off for a less pressured start, especially at larger games. Allow about four hours for the full visit and more if you plan to eat beforehand. The matchday Parkingeye exemption runs from four hours before until four hours after kick-off. Outside it, registration rules apply; overnight parking is prohibited.
For a planned off-site fallback, Redbridge Park & Ride has a public car park and the 600 bus serving the Kassam. Check the timetable and ticket validity for the stadium journey before choosing it, particularly for an evening kick-off. Expect congestion after full-time whichever nearby option you choose.
- Parking verdict
- Free stadium parking is realistic; advance booking is not required, but arrive early. Do not rely on residential street parking.
- Free option — Kassam B1
- Free matchday parking in the club-operated unreserved stadium car parks; about 2,000 places across the site.
- Walk — B1 to away entrance
- B1 is beside the North Stand away approach; precise accessible walking distance/minutes are not published.
- Free option — overflow
- Club-directed overflow beyond Vue cinema and club shop when main car parks are full.
- Legal restrictions — Blackbird Leys West, Brake Hill, Fry’s Hill, Minchery Farm
- Oxfordshire County Council lists Sunday 08:30–13:30 and event-day parking controls in these four Kassam Stadium zones; individual bay signs govern use.
- Free option — Grenoble Road roadside
- Some road spaces historically offered between the stadium and Watlington Road roundabout; not recommended as a reliable option because post-26 October 2026 matchday controls can suspend them.
- Legal restrictions — Grenoble Road from 26 October 2026
- County Council public notice states full-length waiting and loading bans during activated event controls, including suspension of previously unrestricted parking areas on the north side.
- Matchday availability — official car parks
- First come, first served; club warns approach queues build before kick-off, and supporters report substantial delays leaving after games.
- Arrive by — Kassam B1
- Suggested target 90 minutes before kick-off, not a club guarantee or a fixed cut-off.
- Paid fallback — Heyford Hill
- Authorised pre-bookable YourParkingSpace product at Sainsbury’s Heyford Hill, OX4 4XR; tariff and availability are date-dependent.
- Walk — Heyford Hill to away entrance
- Supporter reviews describe about 20–25 minutes to Kassam Stadium; exact route and distance to North Stand entrance not separately verified.
- Booking recommendation
- Do not book stadium parking; pre-book a separately authorised off-site space if a planned walk or a different exit suits you.
- Paid fallback — Redbridge Park & Ride
- Redbridge OX1 4XG costs £2.50 to park for up to 16 hours or offers a £3 combined Park + Bus ticket until 31 March 2027; service 600 serves the Kassam. Confirm ticket coverage and departure times.
- Supermarket permission/time limit — ordinary shopper bays
- Sainsbury’s says most customer car parks allow up to two hours, with site-specific signs; no blanket permission for match parking. A separate paid Heyford Hill football-use listing exists on YourParkingSpace.
- Retail permission — Vue/Ozone
- Vue asks cinema visitors to validate registration for up to four hours and re-validate for longer visits; matchday stadium-parking exemption is separately described by the club. Do not infer unlimited retail/customer parking outside matchday exemption hours.
- Total dwell time
- Allow around four hours for arrival, walks, pre-match time, the match, interval/stoppage time and departure; longer for food, large games or cup extra time.
- Parkingeye home-match exemption
- Parking controls are exempted from four hours before until four hours after kick-off at Oxford United home games; on other occasions registration rules apply.
- Overnight parking — Kassam
- false
- After the match
- Expect possible long car-park exit queues; a North Stand security gate usually prevents crossing back to eastern car parks.
- Guaranteed stadium space
- false

Parking

Matchday advice: You do not need to book parking for an ordinary Oxford United home match. The Kassam provides around 2,000 free spaces, first come, first served, making its car parks a better bet than neighbouring streets.
Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Use Oxford railway station for the Kassam Stadium. The ground is about five miles away, so take a direct bus towards Grenoble Road rather than planning to walk. The 3A and 600 serve the stadium corridor, while the City5 and Stagecoach 1 stop at Sandy Lane West, leaving a further walk.
If your train arrives at Oxford Parkway, Oxford United advises changing onto a train for Oxford station before continuing. This is not the easiest ground for a tight rail connection after an evening match, so check the return bus and train times before travelling. Oxford station has step-free access to all platforms, but check live lift information on the day.
- Recommended station
- Oxford (OXF), around five miles from the Kassam Stadium.
- Onward bus – rail
- 3A or service 600 for the stadium corridor; City5/Stagecoach 1 to Sandy Lane West plus an approximately 15-minute walk.
- Alternative station
- Oxford Parkway (OXP): the club recommends a connecting train to Oxford, then onward bus or taxi.
- Oxford station step-free
- true
- Oxford Parkway lift alert
- National Rail reported lifts between platforms 1 and 2 out of order on the date checked; confirm live accessibility before travel.
Station to ground & away entrance
Head for the North Stand away entrance. If you are driving, follow the signs from the main stadium entrance to car park B1, then walk towards the North Stand's marked away turnstiles and ticket office. Your match ticket and the stewards' directions are the final guide to the correct block and gate.
From the stadium-side Grenoble Road bus stop, follow the pedestrian route around the ground to the North Stand rather than trying to cut through restricted parking areas. A security gate often separates the west and east sides of the North Stand after games, so arriving on the B1 side avoids an awkward walk back to your car.
- Away section
- North Stand, on the side of the pitch.
- Away approach
- Car park B1 by the main entrance; follow signed North Stand away turnstiles.
- Away ticket office
- North Stand ticket office and collection point.
- North Stand security gate
- Usually divides the West and East car parks after the match.
- 2026/27 guide alternative parking
- The current official guide names B1 or G2 while the evergreen club page names B1 or B2; B1 is common to both.

Coaches
Away coaches
If your visiting club runs official coaches, use the club's instructions rather than arranging an independent drop-off. Oxford United directs visiting coaches and minibuses into car park B1 through the main stadium entrance. Stewards allocate the parking area, with the away North Stand turnstiles a short approach away.
Coaches generally remain in the designated area and receive a managed escort out after the match, shortly after the final whistle. Return to the same arranged meeting point promptly and follow your operator's instructions. Any change for a high-attendance fixture should come from the visiting club or matchday stewards, rather than from an assumed roadside collection point.
- Away coach access
- Main entrance to car park B1; marshalled dedicated parking area.
- Coach collection
- Designated B1 area, with steward-led departure after full-time.
- Walk to away turnstiles
- Short on-site approach from B1 to North Stand; exact minute figure not published.
Buses
Buses & local travel
The 3A is the easiest scheduled bus to understand from central Oxford. Board near Westgate or in the High Street and alight on Grenoble Road by the stadium. Service 600 also links Oxford railway station and Redbridge Park & Ride with the Kassam, but check the operator's latest timetable, especially for evening and Sunday games.
Football specials OX1–OX5, OX7 and OX8 serve different parts of Oxfordshire on home league matchdays, including Abingdon, Didcot, Witney, Bicester and Kidlington. They use designated stadium-side stops, with separate post-match collection arrangements, so check your exact return boarding point. Regular buses do not automatically wait for the match to finish.
- 3A
- Oxford railway station and centre via Iffley, Rose Hill and Littlemore to Grenoble Road.
- 600
- Oxford station–Redbridge Park & Ride–Oxford Science Park–Kassam Stadium; up to 30-minute frequency Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays/evenings.
- City5 and Stagecoach 1
- Frequent services from Oxford station to Sandy Lane West, leaving approximately 15 minutes on foot to the stadium.
- Football specials
- OX1, OX2, OX3, OX4, OX5, OX7 and OX8 serve designated routes for home league games.
- Special-bus collection
- The club moved football-special collection to Guelder Road; normal Oxford-bound service buses use the stadium-side Grenoble Road layby post-match.
- Redbridge park-and-ride ticket
- £3 combined parking and return bus ticket for up to five people and 16 hours of parking, offered 17 August 2026 to 31 March 2027; check that your proposed 600 journey is within current ticket conditions.
Accessibility
Accessible journeys
For accessible parking at the away end, aim for the north-west corner of the stadium through car park B1. Marked Blue Badge spaces are first come, first served and can fill quickly. Display your badge and contact Oxford United's Disability Liaison Officer, Tom Phillips, before travelling if you need parking advice, drop-off assistance or a suitable seating arrangement.
The North Stand away section has a raised wheelchair platform, accessible toilets with RADAR-key access and lowered refreshment counters. Visiting wheelchair tickets are arranged through your own club. Oxford railway station lists step-free access to all platforms, and the 600 bus is described as low-floor and wheelchair accessible, but check live lifts, service arrangements and the final stadium approach on the day.
- Away Blue Badge parking
- North-west corner reached through car park B1; first come, first served.
- Away wheelchair provision
- Thirteen wheelchair bays on raised North Stand away platform.
- Accessible facilities
- Accessible away toilets and lowered concession counters; stewards can provide RADAR-key access.
- Oxford station access
- National Rail lists category A step-free access to all platforms.
- Bus 600 accessibility
- Operator describes low-floor, wheelchair-accessible buses.

After the match
After the match
If you have parked at the stadium, expect patience to be more useful than a sprint to your car. Oxford United warns that the limited access road can produce long exit queues, and supporters have reported substantial waits after full-time. Leave room in your plans for that delay rather than relying on an immediate getaway.
From the North Stand, return to your B1-side parking rather than trying to cross the security gate towards the east car parks. For buses back towards Oxford, the club directs normal service passengers to the stadium-side Grenoble Road layby, while football-special services collect from their managed Guelder Road position. Check the last bus and onward train for evening matches, and follow any new traffic directions introduced from late October 2026.
- Stadium exit experience
- Club warns of long queues; a 2025 supporter thread reports examples including around 50 minutes before moving from a space, but no typical or guaranteed delay.
- Away-end car park return
- North Stand gate may block direct crossing to eastern parking; choose B1 side if driving.
- Bus collection
- Ordinary Oxford-bound routes: stadium side of Grenoble Road; football specials: Guelder Road collection plan.
- From 26 October 2026
- Matchday road-management order can regulate roundabouts, junctions and waiting on Grenoble Road.
Where to stay
For a football-first overnight stay, the Hampton by Hilton beside the Kassam is the easiest base. You can walk to the game without arranging another journey, although the surrounding Ozone leisure area is not Oxford's best place for an evening out. The nearby Holiday Inn Express also advertises guest parking, but requires vehicle registration at reception.
If you want pubs, restaurants and more of Oxford after the match, stay around Westgate, the Castle Quarter or the centre and use the 3A or 600 corridor for the football journey. Iffley is a sensible middle ground if you prefer a quieter area along the 3A route. Check return buses carefully after evening matches rather than assuming a late service will run.
- Stadium-side stay
- Hampton by Hilton Oxford beside Ozone Leisure Park and within walking distance of the Kassam.
- Alternative stadium-side hotel
- Holiday Inn Express Oxford – Kassam Stadium; complimentary parking for hotel guests with registration at reception to avoid Parkingeye charges.
- City-centre stay
- Oxford centre/Westgate for greater food and evening choice; 3A connects that area with Grenoble Road.

Oxford is an away day where the logistics matter more than the pub crawl. The Kassam is about five miles from Oxford station: for rail arrivals, meet at The Castle by Westgate if you want a city-centre pint, then use the 3A, or go straight by bus or taxi. Nearer the ground, Oxford’s current 2026/27 guide normally welcomes visiting supporters at The George, Golden Ball, King’s Arms and Catherine Wheel; Ozone venues are another option. None has a published away-colours rule, and Oxford warns access can be reviewed for high-profile fixtures, so treat shirts and large groups cautiously. Away fans sit in the North Stand along the touchline. Food is better planned than improvised: the car-park bacon-roll and burger van is the quick football choice, King’s Arms gives a proper pub lunch, and Oxy Oriental suits groups. The concourse has pies and a vegan option but no current prices were found. City-centre and station hotels are the best overnight base; the stadium Hampton bar and restaurant closes to non-residents on matchdays.

Kassam Stadium South-West Car Park Food Van

Kassam Stadium North Stand Concourse
A reliable fallback once inside. The current club guide confirms hot pies and a vegan option, with supporter evidence also reporting chips and hot dogs.
Oxy Oriental
The strongest sit-down food choice on the stadium complex for a group. The buffet gives more range than the concourse or fast-food outlets.
