Savoy
Fleetwood Esplanade / town-centre edge
This is the Fleetwood choice MatchdayHotels can recommend with the least hesitation. It is close enough to walk to Highbury, sits on the useful Esplanade/town-centre side of Fleetwood and combines unusually strong current guest feedback with sensible sampled prices. The recent evidence repeatedly mentions cleanliness, friendly hands-on owners, breakfast and sea views rather than simply praising location.
- Tripadvisor's hotel-near-Highbury listing places it about 0.8 miles from the stadium, making it the closest strong conventional hotel found.
- Recent 2026 Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, the owners, breakfast and sea views; the Tripadvisor aggregate is 4.7/5 from 205 reviews.
Tripadvisor lists the Savoy about 0.8 miles from Highbury. A supporter ground guide describes it as around a 15-minute walk; allow roughly 15-20 minutes in normal conditions. The route does not require a rail or tram connection.
The building is step/stair-access only and Booking.com explicitly warns that bedrooms may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility; a recent 2026 review also confirms there is no lift.

Holiday Inn Blackpool by IHG
Blackpool North / Talbot Gateway
This is deliberately not the closest choice. It wins the nightlife category because it turns the post-match tram into the journey back to the hotel and then leaves the supporter beside Blackpool North, central Blackpool and the hotel's own Platform 9 bar rather than finishing the night in Fleetwood's smaller pub market.
- IHG confirms direct tram access at the hotel and a location at 85 Talbot Road beside Blackpool North.
- Highbury is about a 3-minute walk from Lindel Road tram stop; the current timetable shows direct Lindel Road-to-North Station journeys of roughly 24 minutes on North Station services.
Use the tram rather than walk. Moovit lists Lindel Road tram stop about 194 metres/3 minutes from Highbury. On the current timetable, a representative direct Lindel Road to North Station journey is about 24 minutes; the hotel is beside Blackpool North/Talbot Gateway. Allow waiting time after the match.
It is around 6.7 miles from Highbury in a straight line and is not a sensible walk; the tram is part of the matchday plan.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Use Highbury Stadium, Park Avenue, Fleetwood FY7 6TX for the general destination, but set your sat-nav to the actual car park once chosen. Fleetwood’s route from the motorway is M6 Junction 32, M55 Junction 3, then A585 towards Fleetwood. The club’s route continues via Copse Road, Radcliffe Road and Stanley Road.
Do not drive into the narrow roads immediately beside the turnstiles expecting a general stadium car park. The club reports only limited on-site spaces, and residential access must be kept clear. If using the council’s free seafront car parks, navigate straight to The Esplanade rather than the stadium postcode.
The A585 and roads through Fleetwood can be congested at busy times. Check current roadworks and your precise route for weekend, evening and bank-holiday games, especially when returning towards Blackpool and the motorway.

- Other free car park sat-nav
- Central Car Park, The Esplanade, FY7 6QE

- Club describes only a limited number of spaces, not general visitor parking
- Congestion warning
- Wyre planning framework identifies A585 approaches as capable of congestion at busy times
Parking & park-and-ride
Free parking is realistic at Fleetwood Town, and you usually do not need to book if you are happy to walk. Choose a council-run seafront car park rather than gamble on a residential road. Wyre Council confirms free parking within walking distance.
Start with Marine Hall and Leisure Centre car park on The Esplanade, FY7 6HF. It has 122 standard car bays and 12 disabled bays, with visiting guides suggesting roughly 15–20 minutes to Highbury. Central Car Park on The Esplanade, FY7 6QE, is another free option but has only 32 standard car bays. Spaces are not guaranteed.
Gordon Road and Addison Road are regularly mentioned by visiting clubs for nearby street parking. However, I could not verify which individual sections are free of restrictions for a full matchday stay. Check signs and avoid obstructing residents or driveways.
If both free car parks are full, Albert Street car park, FY7 6AH, is a clear paid fallback. Wyre Council lists £3.80 for the daytime long-stay ticket and separate overnight charges. Custom House Lane is another council-run paid option. Alternatively, pre-book a private driveway for a shorter walk.
Aim to park 60–90 minutes before kick-off, especially for a bigger away following. Allow about four hours overall for arriving, the walk each way, the match and departure, and longer for extra time. Do not use Asda on Cop Lane or another supermarket for football unless the operator expressly permits it and the stay limit covers the whole visit.
For evening or Sunday football the council’s free car parks remain the simplest starting point, but check the signs and any barrier restrictions on arrival. In particular, Marine Hall has height barriers which the council says are closed at night. A pre-booked private space is sensible if you need late access or certainty.
- Parking verdict
- Free public council car parks are realistic; booking normally unnecessary if willing to walk 15–20 minutes. Nearby unrestricted street sections not legally verified.
- Free option — Marine Hall
- Marine Hall and Leisure Centre Car Park, The Esplanade FY7 6HF; council lists it as free
- Free option — Central Car Park
- Central Car Park, The Esplanade FY7 6QE; council lists it as free
- Legal restrictions — Gordon Road
- Visiting guide names Gordon Road FY7 6UF as possible parking but exact legal unrestricted sides/hours not independently established
- Legal restrictions — Addison Road
- Visiting guide names Addison Road FY7 6UH as possible parking but exact legal unrestricted sides/hours not independently established
- Matchday availability — Gordon Road/Addison Road
- Limited competition for close street spaces reported by visiting club; no measured supply or guaranteed lawful bay
- Matchday availability — Marine Hall
- 122 standard bays, 12 accessible bays, 142 spaces in total as listed by Wyre Council; no live availability guarantee
- Matchday availability — Central Car Park
- 32 standard bays, 9 accessible bays, 60 total spaces as council currently lists; smaller capacity than older guide claimed
- Walk — Marine Hall
- About 15–20 minutes to Highbury per visiting-club guide; exact away-gate route may be longer
- Walk — Central
- About 15 minutes to Highbury per visiting supporter guides; varies by away entrance
- Arrive by — free car parks
- Aim 60–90 minutes before kick-off as editorial planning allowance, earlier for a high-demand cup fixture
- Paid fallback
- Albert Street Car Park FY7 6AH; Custom House Lane FY7 6BY; authorised private driveway booking
- Albert Street daytime tariff
- £3.80 all-day long-stay tariff, 08:00–18:00 as published; check separate night charge if required
- Custom House Lane daytime tariff
- £3.80 all-day long-stay tariff, 08:00–18:00 as published
- After 18:00 paid car park
- £2.20 night charge published at Albert Street and Custom House Lane; daytime and overnight overlap requires checking the posted conditions
- Booking recommendation
- Normally unnecessary for free public council bays; reserving an authorised private space improves certainty for sell-out or late kick-offs
- Reserved bay guarantee
- Third-party availability and conditions depend on exact listing; council free bays are first-come with no allocated space
- Supermarket permission/time limit
- Asda Fleetwood, Cop Lane FY7 6NU has a car park, but no current permission for football visits or full-match parking limit established; do not use without express authorisation
- Total dwell time
- Allow at least four hours including early arrival, walks, 90 minutes plus half-time/stoppage, and departure; more for cup extra time
- Night access — Marine Hall
- Council says height barriers are closed at night; confirm arrangements for evening and delayed matches
- After the match
- Walking back to the seafront car parks reduces need to search crowded streets by the ground, but traffic returning via the A585 can queue

Matchday advice: Free parking is realistic at Fleetwood Town, and you usually do not need to book if you are happy to walk. Choose a council-run seafront car park rather than gamble on a residential road.
Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Travel to Blackpool North if you want the simplest rail connection for Fleetwood. There is no National Rail station in Fleetwood itself, but Blackpool North has a tram interchange taking you north towards Highbury Stadium. Allow around 40 minutes for the onward tram journey, plus the walk to your gate.
Follow signs from Blackpool North railway station to the North Station tram stop beneath the Holiday Inn. Trams towards Fleetwood serve the Stanley Road and Lindel Road area close to Highbury; check which tram serves Blackpool North rather than assuming every seafront tram branches into the rail station.
Poulton-le-Fylde is another rail gateway but does not have a direct tram connection to the stadium. It makes more sense with a planned taxi or local bus, particularly for a group. Check the return tram and mainline train times before booking an evening trip.
- Recommended rail station
- Blackpool North, with direct tram interchange towards Fleetwood
- Fleetwood National Rail station
- Fleetwood has no operational National Rail station
- Rail onward journey
- Blackpool North tram stop on Talbot Road outside/under the Holiday Inn
- Tram onward time
- Approximately 40 minutes to Fleetwood per Fleetwood club supporter guide; depends on individual service
- Tram frequency
- Blackpool Transport states a 15-minute core service, with Blackpool North stop served from every 30 minutes; check specific timetable
- Other rail gateway
- Poulton-le-Fylde; onward journey requires road transport
- Station choice for return
- Confirm time of connecting Blackpool North mainline train before travelling
- Nearest tram stop and walk
- Stanley Road is close to Highbury; allow roughly 5–10 minutes on foot, depending on your ticketed turnstile and walking pace. The walk is on local streets, not a rail-platform interchange.
- Lindel Road tram alternative
- Lindel Road also serves Highbury; a journey-planning map estimates about a three-minute walk to the stadium area. Allow extra for the correct away entrance.
- Step-free mainline stations
- Blackpool North and Poulton-le-Fylde are National Rail step-free category A. Blackpool North has step-free access to every platform; Poulton-le-Fylde has a lift to its platforms.
- Accessible rail-to-tram connection
- Blackpool North has a signed pedestrian underpass to North Station tram stop; Blackpool trams have level boarding and step-free interiors. Step-free access all the way to the allocated Highbury away gate has not been independently established: confirm the route with Fleetwood Town.
- Blackpool North taxi estimate
- Rome2Rio estimates approximately £35–£45 for a taxi from Blackpool North railway station to Highbury Stadium (about 7.3 road miles); this is a planning estimate, not a booked fare or a fare guaranteed on matchday.
- Poulton-le-Fylde taxi estimate
- Rome2Rio estimates approximately £17–£21 for a taxi from Poulton-le-Fylde to Highbury Stadium (about 7 road miles). Obtain a quote for the station pickup and your fixture; estimates for other Fleetwood destinations can differ.
- Poulton bus alternative
- Services 74 and 75 run through Poulton-le-Fylde towards Fleetwood; Fleetwood Arts also advises bus 74 from the railway-station area. Verify the correct direction, boarding stop and matchday timetable before relying on a connection.
- Blackpool bus alternative
- Services 1 and 14 serve Fleetwood from the Blackpool area; for example, journey planners show service 1 from Pleasant Street to Nelson Court and service 14 towards Agnew Road. Check the actual boarding point and timetable rather than assuming both depart at the rail station.
Station to ground & away entrance
Travelling by rail means changing to local transport: Fleetwood has no National Rail station. At Blackpool North, use the North Station tram interchange and check that your Fleetwood-bound departure serves it. Stanley Road is the usual tram stop for Highbury, with Lindel Road another nearby option. Follow the local streets towards the ground on Park Avenue beside Memorial Park. The walk is short, but the old tram-stop figures were straight-line postcode measurements, not measured walks to either away turnstile. Individual pavement surfaces, dropped kerbs and step-free street routes have not been surveyed.
For a Percy Ronson standing ticket, head to visiting turnstiles 1–3 at Hatfield Avenue and Highbury Avenue. For Parkside away seating, use turnstiles 1–2 by the club shop on Park Avenue. These are distinct entrances, so check the stand on your ticket before walking around the ground. Visiting clubs usually advise turnstiles opening 90 minutes before kick-off, but follow any match-specific instruction. Wheelchair users should arrange and confirm their entrance with the Fleetwood ticket office before travelling.
- Stadium
- Highbury Stadium, Park Avenue, Fleetwood FY7 6TX
- Away standing
- Percy Ronson Stand terrace behind the goal
- Standing entrance
- Away turnstiles 1–3, at the junction of Hatfield Avenue and Highbury Avenue
- Away seating
- Parkside Stand visiting seated section (normally blocks F and G when allocated; check fixture ticket)
- Seating entrance
- Parkside turnstiles 1–2 beside the main club shop and ticket office on Park Avenue
- Turnstile opening
- Normally 90 minutes before kick-off, according to visiting-club guidance; fixture instructions take priority
- Closest mapped tram stop
- Stanley Road; NaPTAN supplied dataset 0.164 km straight-line from stadium postcode centroid
- Other mapped tram stop
- Lindel Road; NaPTAN supplied dataset 0.360 km straight-line
- Wheelchair arrival gate
- Confirm accessible entrance and route with club ticket office; terrace route may differ
- Closest tram stop
- Stanley Road (Blackpool Tramway); operator map shows it near Highbury. Previously supplied 0.164 km was straight-line postcode-centroid data, not a verified walking distance.
- Alternative tram stop
- Lindel Road (Blackpool Tramway); nearby on the operator map. Previously supplied 0.360 km was straight-line postcode-centroid data, not a verified walking distance.
- Wheelchair arrival
- Arrange accessible allocation and confirm entrance and street approach with the Fleetwood ticket office before travelling; wheelchair provision is at pitch level and must be pre-booked.
- National Rail arrival
- Fleetwood has no National Rail station; Blackpool North is a practical interchange for the tram, while Poulton-le-Fylde is nearer geographically but needs road transport.
- Tram interchange
- The Blackpool North rail station has a nearby North Station tram stop; check for a Fleetwood-bound service via North Station rather than assuming all seafront trams call there.
- Walking route and surfaces
- From Stanley Road use local streets towards Highbury/Park Avenue, then follow the correct stand entrance. Neither an audited turnstile-specific walking distance nor continuous pavement and dropped-kerb assessment was established.
- Tram accessibility
- Blackpool Transport says its modern trams offer wheelchair-accessible level boarding; this does not confirm the whole street route to the assigned stadium entrance.
- Blackpool North taxi
- Rome2Rio lists an indicative taxi estimate of £35–£45 for the approximately 7.3-mile Blackpool North–Highbury Stadium road journey; this is not a booked fare or taxi-operator quotation. Ask the operator for a current price.

Coaches
Away coaches
If you are travelling on an official away coach, follow your organiser’s confirmed drop-off and collection instructions rather than setting a sat-nav destination yourself. Fleetwood has used Hatfield Avenue outside the Percy Ronson entrance for away-coach drop-offs on past fixtures.
A newer Fleetwood supporter guide identified Copse Road for coaches attending a particular away allocation, while older guides directed empty coaches towards Queens Terrace. These are not reliable all-fixture instructions. Confirm where the coach will wait and whether collection is on the same road before leaving it.
From a Hatfield Avenue drop-off, the Percy Ronson terrace entrance is close by. If the coach uses Copse Road instead, allow for the walk to Highbury and ask the driver where the group must return after full-time.
- Historical away coach drop-off
- Hatfield Avenue FY7 7DT, outside the Percy Ronson turnstiles; 2021 visiting guide, not universally current
- 2025/26 supporter guide coach instruction
- Copse Road cited for visiting coaches for a particular Swindon allocation; fixture-specific
- Historical coach parking
- Queens Terrace opposite The Steamer FY7 6BT, per 2021 guide; current allocation unverified
- Advice
- Follow away club coach operator, fixture instructions and stewards; do not assume old Hatfield/Queens Terrace instructions apply
Buses
Buses & local travel
Take the tram towards Fleetwood from Blackpool North or the Blackpool seafront, then get off at Stanley Road or Lindel Road for the short walk to Highbury. Fleetwood’s own guide also identifies Blackpool buses 1 and 14, although the right boarding point depends on where you join the service.
Blackpool Transport currently shows trams running through to Fleetwood Ferry, but the northbound platform at London Street is closed while scaffolding remains. Use Stanley Road or the other signed operational stop rather than relying on a northbound departure from London Street.
For an evening fixture, check the last tram and your connecting train before leaving home. Blackpool Transport also publishes late-night engineering changes, so the journey home can differ from the outward service.
- Primary local service
- Blackpool Tramway towards Fleetwood; alight near Stanley Road or Lindel Road
- Blackpool bus alternative
- Services 1 and 14 serve Fleetwood from Blackpool area; exact stop and connection should be checked
- Bus journey estimate
- Club guide suggests about 30 minutes from Blackpool for bus option; dependent on route and traffic
- Tram journey estimate
- Fleetwood guide suggests approximately 40 minutes
- Tram frequency caveat
- Core tram route around every 15 minutes, station branch roughly every 30 minutes, timetable-dependent
- London Street northbound stop
- Closed for scaffold works in 2026; southbound remains usable per operator
- Engineering disruption
- Blackpool Transport advises checking service updates, including late-evening track works
- Sunday and bank holidays
- Service frequency and last tram need date-specific confirmation
Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Contact Fleetwood Town before travelling if you need a wheelchair place, accessible entry or parking. The club-supplied Level Playing Field record describes seven away wheelchair positions and only one designated away parking space; even that is subject to operational needs, so it must not be assumed available.
The 2025/26 club guide names Phil Bowker as Disabled Liaison Officer, with contact through the club on 01253 775080 or by email. Ask which arrival route suits your away stand and whether a drop-off can be arranged before travelling.
Highbury has two accessible toilets allocated to the away side in the club-supplied accessibility information, and the Parkside kiosks have low counters. Marine Hall and Central Car Park have designated accessible spaces, but their distance to the stadium means they are not an equivalent substitute for an agreed close drop-off.
- Away wheelchair positions
- Seven in club-supplied LPF entry, last explicitly updated June 2024; confirm current allocation
- Away accessible toilets
- Two away accessible toilets in LPF report; Percy Ronson toilet access includes a concrete ramp
- On-site away disabled car spaces
- LPF states one away designated bay, dependent on availability/officials; visiting club guide says no public accessible parking: arrange in advance
- Disabled Liaison Officer
- Phil Bowker, club guide and February 2026 Robins Trust fixture briefing

- 12 designated disabled bays, but long walk to stadium
- Accessible parking at Central Car Park
- Nine designated disabled bays, but long walk to stadium
- Assistance dogs
- Allowed in Highbury Stadium per club-supplied LPF data
After the match
After the match
If you have parked at Marine Hall or Central Car Park, allow for the walk back to The Esplanade after full-time. You will avoid driving immediately beside the ground, but Fleetwood’s limited exit roads still feed traffic back towards the A585, so leave some flexibility in your journey.
For train travellers, return to the operating tram stop near Highbury and connect with Blackpool North. Check the last suitable tram and onward train before the game, especially in midweek when a late finish can turn a straightforward daytime journey into a missed connection.
Official coach passengers should rejoin the vehicle exactly where the organiser tells them. Earlier guides give different pickup and parking roads; the arrangement for your fixture is more important than following a historic postcode.
- Car return
- Walk back to The Esplanade for Marine Hall/Central council free parking
- Car escape route
- Main Fleetwood approach via A585 can be congested at busy periods
- Tram return
- Tram towards Blackpool North from a functioning Fleetwood stop; check train connection
- London Street northbound
- Temporary closure of northbound platform in 2026; operator lists other stops
- Coach collection
- Fixture-specific; historically Hatfield Avenue but 2025/26 guide also names Copse Road for one match
- Evening transport
- Check possible engineering work and last services with operator
Where to stay
Stay in Fleetwood around the Esplanade or town-centre edge if you want to walk back after the match. Highbury is a short local journey from the seafront, and the Lord Street area gives you better access to pubs and food than the quiet residential streets beside the stadium.
If you want a bigger evening out or an easier mainline train connection, base yourself around Blackpool North and Talbot Gateway instead. The tram links Blackpool with Fleetwood, but an evening match means checking the last service and allowing enough time for the journey back.
There is little reason to choose an outlying hotel purely for the stadium unless the price or parking arrangement makes it worthwhile. Fleetwood’s smaller hotel market can fill around matches; prices vary by date and should be checked rather than assumed.
- Best local base
- Fleetwood Esplanade and town-centre edge for walking after match
- Best rail and nightlife base
- Blackpool North / Talbot Gateway for train connections and evening choices
- Stadium setting
- Residential Fleetwood near Memorial Park; limited immediate hotel options
- Town centre
- Fleetwood Lord Street and seafront have food/pubs and free council car parks
- Blackpool connection
- Blackpool North rail station serves tramway connection to Fleetwood

Fleetwood has no railway station, so rail groups should meet at Blackpool North before the final leg rather than try to rendezvous at a non-existent Fleetwood station. The tram takes about 40 minutes and buses 1/14 about 30; Stanley Road is the ground-side stop, while London Street’s northbound tram platform is currently closed. At Highbury, Jim’s Bar is the simplest mixed-supporter option, though admission can be fixture-specific and chanting is barred. Strawberry Gardens is the clearest pub recommendation: it currently calls itself Fleetwood Town’s official away pub and sits roughly eight minutes from the ground. Three Lights, Queens and Kings Arms are alternatives, but no current venue-specific colours policy was found. Food is unusually strong for a small ground: Highbury Chippy is opposite the stadium, Pisces offers a sit-down chippy on Poulton Road, and the cashless away kiosks sell pies and pasties. Parkside away seats can buy alcohol; Percy Ronson terrace cannot. For overnight trips, Fleetwood seafront works locally, while Blackpool is the practical rail base.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
Highbury Chippy
The obvious pre-turnstile chippy: directly opposite Highbury, with fish cooked to order and a current traditional takeaway menu. It is hard to beat for convenience, although older supporter reports warn that service can slow sharply near kick-off.
Pisces Fish & Chips
The stronger choice when you want to sit down rather than eat outside the ground. Pisces combines a 30-seat restaurant with takeaway service, fresh fish, local-potato sourcing and vegetarian or gluten-free options on Poulton Road.
Away concourse – Highbury Stadium
The safest option if you want to go straight through: Fleetwood’s current guide confirms cashless away-end kiosks with pies, pasties, hot drinks and sweets. Parkside seated visitors can buy alcohol; Percy Ronson terrace visitors cannot.
Victoria Bar / Vantini's at North Euston Hotel
The practical Fleetwood overnight food choice: North Euston sits on the seafront by public transport and offers bar meals plus evening restaurant dining. Use it for a proper meal when staying locally, not as a pre-turnstile shortcut.
Colin's Café at Fleetwood Market
A genuinely local early-arrival option rather than another chain. Colin’s Café inside Fleetwood Market serves traditional hot and cold food and snacks at the market’s stated affordable prices, making sense for supporters exploring the town before heading south.
