BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into Highbury Stadium

Travelling by rail means changing to local transport: Fleetwood has no National Rail station. At Blackpool North, use the North Station tram interchange and check that your Fleetwood-bound departure serves it. Stanley Road is the usual tram stop for Highbury, with Lindel Road another nearby option. Follow the local streets towards the ground on Park Avenue beside Memorial Park. The walk is short, but the old tram-stop figures were straight-line postcode measurements, not measured walks to either away turnstile. Individual pavement surfaces, dropped kerbs and step-free street routes have not been surveyed. For a Percy Ronson standing ticket, head to visiting turnstiles 1–3 at Hatfield Avenue and Highbury Avenue. For Parkside away seating, use turnstiles 1–2 by the club shop on Park Avenue. These are distinct entrances, so check the stand on your ticket before walking around the ground. Visiting clubs usually advise turnstiles opening 90 minutes before kick-off, but follow any match-specific instruction. Wheelchair users should arrange and confirm their entrance with the Fleetwood ticket office before travelling.

02 · Before the match

Jim's Bar

0-minute walk to the ground. Current club guidance says food is served alongside hot and cold drinks; no sufficiently detailed current itemised bar menu was found. Football chanting is explicitly prohibited inside Jim’s Bar. Check your own fixture brief because some current guidance describes away admission as match-dependent.

03 · Stay or head home?

Choose your base before your hotel

Stay in Fleetwood around the Esplanade or town-centre edge if you want to walk back after the match. Highbury is a short local journey from the seafront, and the Lord Street area gives you better access to pubs and food than the quiet residential streets beside the stadium.

The established supporter food pick

Meat & potato pie with gravy — Jim’s Bar, Highbury Stadium

Pub food

Jim's Bar

0 min walk

Good for simplest ground-side drink · early arrivals

The easiest pre-match pint once you reach Highbury. Current Fleetwood guidance welcomes both home and away supporters, with food and live sport, but separate fixture material makes clear that away admission can still be restricted.

Expect mixed home-and-away · stadium bar · live sport

Before you go Football chanting is explicitly prohibited inside Jim’s Bar. Check your own fixture brief because some current guidance describes away admission as match-dependent.

Pub food

Strawberry Gardens

8 min walk

Good for best away-pub choice · proper meal

The clearest away-pub recommendation in Fleetwood: the venue currently calls itself the club’s official away pub and explicitly welcomes visiting supporters. It combines a dozen hand pumps with proper food and a short walk to Highbury.

Expect official away pub · real ale · food led

Before you go No current written colours policy was found. Children must remain seated and leave by 20:00; one 2025 away review criticised pint quality, so not every supporter report is glowing.

Food & drink
Fleetwood fish and chips, steaks, burgers and a broader bistro menu; a useful choice when the group wants both a proper meal and an away-friendly pint.

Pub food

Three Lights

8 min walk

Good for families · pub meal

A useful food-led alternative within walking distance of Highbury. Current visiting guides include it among away options, while the venue itself confirms family-friendly opening and a full pub-classics menu rather than just matchday snacks.

Expect family pub · food led · near ground

Before you go Away admission comes from visiting and ground guides rather than a published house football policy. No current rule on colours was found, so treat that as unknown.

Food & drink
Current pub-classics material includes chicken tikka masala, Hunter's Chicken and steak-and-ale pie, with food served noon to 8pm.

fish and chips

Highbury Chippy

1 min walk

Good for quick food · fish and chips

The obvious pre-turnstile chippy: directly opposite Highbury, with fish cooked to order and a current traditional takeaway menu. It is hard to beat for convenience, although older supporter reports warn that service can slow sharply near kick-off.

Expect traditional chippy · takeaway · opposite stadium

Before you go Current delivery prices may differ at the counter. Historical supporter reports describe long waits when fish is being cooked to order, so allow time on a busy Saturday.

Food & drink
Traditional fish and chips, haddock cooked to order, pies, burgers and larger sharing boxes; choose it for proximity rather than a leisurely sit-down meal.

fish and chips

Pisces Fish & Chips

Good for proper fish-and-chip meal · families

The stronger choice when you want to sit down rather than eat outside the ground. Pisces combines a 30-seat restaurant with takeaway service, fresh fish, local-potato sourcing and vegetarian or gluten-free options on Poulton Road.

Expect traditional chippy · sit down · takeaway

Before you go No football-specific policy was found. Current hours run to 8pm daily, but no reliable matchday queue data was available, so allow restaurant time before kick-off.

Food & drink
Fresh fish and chips with vegetarian and gluten-free options, using fish from sustainable waters and locally sourced potatoes where possible.

football-ground pies and pasties

Away concourse – Highbury Stadium

0 min walk

Good for straight through turnstiles · pies and pasties

The safest option if you want to go straight through: Fleetwood’s current guide confirms cashless away-end kiosks with pies, pasties, hot drinks and sweets. Parkside seated visitors can buy alcohol; Percy Ronson terrace visitors cannot.

Expect inside ground · cashless · quick matchday food

Before you go Away allocation changes by fixture. Current club-derived guidance restricts alcohol to Parkside away seating, although one September 2026 visiting guide uses broader ‘away concourses’ wording.

Food & drink
Current club guidance specifically confirms traditional pies and pasties, hot drinks and sweets; wider visiting-club guidance describes a broader hot/cold range without an itemised current menu.

traditional cafe food

Colin's Café at Fleetwood Market

Good for early arrival · breakfast or lunch

A genuinely local early-arrival option rather than another chain. Colin’s Café inside Fleetwood Market serves traditional hot and cold food and snacks at the market’s stated affordable prices, making sense for supporters exploring the town before heading south.

Expect market cafe · local · budget

Before you go The market trades Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, roughly 9am–4:30pm. It is not useful for many evening or Sunday fixtures and is not near the turnstiles.

Food & drink
Traditional hot and cold cafe food, drinks and snacks; useful for breakfast or an inexpensive early meal before walking or tramming back towards the ground.

hotel bar food, grill and à la carte dining

Victoria Bar / Vantini's at North Euston Hotel

Good for overnight supporters · post-match meal

The practical Fleetwood overnight food choice: North Euston sits on the seafront by public transport and offers bar meals plus evening restaurant dining. Use it for a proper meal when staying locally, not as a pre-turnstile shortcut.

Expect seafront hotel · proper meal · overnight stay

Before you go No football-specific colours or admission policy was found. Vantini’s has narrower evening opening than the Victoria Bar, so check which dining room is serving on your fixture day.

Food & drink
Victoria Bar food daily noon–8pm, grill nights, Friday fish specials and Vantini's à la carte dining Wednesday–Saturday evenings.

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay in Fleetwood around the Esplanade or town-centre edge if you want to walk back after the match. Highbury is a short local journey from the seafront, and the Lord Street area gives you better access to pubs and food than the quiet residential streets beside the stadium. If you want a bigger evening out or an easier mainline train connection, base yourself around Blackpool North and Talbot Gateway instead. The tram links Blackpool with Fleetwood, but an evening match means checking the last service and allowing enough time for the journey back. There is little reason to choose an outlying hotel purely for the stadium unless the price or parking arrangement makes it worthwhile. Fleetwood’s smaller hotel market can fill around matches; prices vary by date and should be checked rather than assumed.

Getting to Fleetwood ↗

Base yourself on the Fleetwood Esplanade if the football trip comes first. It avoids a post-match transport dependency and still puts Lord Street, the seafront and the town centre within a short walk. If a proper late night matters more than walking back from Highbury, Blackpool North/Talbot Gateway is the stronger option because the tram links the ground area directly to Blackpool North.

For the evening

Fleetwood offers a pub-led evening around Lord Street, Queens Terrace and the town-centre/Esplanade area rather than a large late-night circuit. Supporters who want more choice after the match are better served by central Blackpool, particularly around Blackpool North and the central seafront, accepting the tram journey after full-time.

For the train

Fleetwood has no National Rail station. Blackpool North and Poulton-le-Fylde are the practical rail gateways; Blackpool North is especially useful because the tram extension connects the rail station directly with the Fleetwood line. Highbury is only a few minutes on foot from Lindel Road tram stop.

  • SavoySavoyFleetwood Esplanade / town-centre edgeAll-round choice · For the shortest ground journey

Tripadvisor's hotel-near-Highbury listing places it about 0.8 miles from the stadium, making it the closest strong conventional hotel found.

Bear in mind: The building is step/stair-access only and Booking.com explicitly warns that bedrooms may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility; a recent 2026 review also confirms there is no lift.

    Hotel details checked 2026-09-29
    More about this choice

Booking.com currently scores it 9.3/10, including 9.6 for cleanliness, 9.6 for value and 9.7 for location.

Recent 2026 Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, the owners, breakfast and sea views; the Tripadvisor aggregate is 4.7/5 from 205 reviews.

It is on the Esplanade but still within easy reach of Fleetwood town-centre pubs, food and the tram.

The six-date Booking.com sample was unusually stable at £75-£85, with no weekend premium in the sampled non-match nights.

Booking.com states that the bar is closed Sunday to Thursday, so this is not the best option for an on-site midweek drinking session.

It is adults-only, so it is unsuitable for supporters travelling with children.

The hotel's independently listed direct website returned a 502 error during research. The hotel itself is clearly operating through current Booking.com and Tripadvisor evidence, but Booking.com is the safer online booking route at present.

  • Holiday Inn Blackpool by IHGHoliday Inn Blackpool by IHGBlackpool North / Talbot GatewayFor the evening

IHG confirms direct tram access at the hotel and a location at 85 Talbot Road beside Blackpool North.

Bear in mind: It is around 6.7 miles from Highbury in a straight line and is not a sensible walk; the tram is part of the matchday plan.

    Hotel details checked 2026-09-29
    More about this choice

Highbury is about a 3-minute walk from Lindel Road tram stop; the current timetable shows direct Lindel Road-to-North Station journeys of roughly 24 minutes on North Station services.

VisitBlackpool describes the hotel as next to Blackpool North, a short walk from the town centre and seafront, with Platform 9 Bar & Kitchen on site.

Booking.com currently scores the hotel 9.2/10 from more than 3,500 reviews.

The latest September 2026 Tripadvisor sample is overwhelmingly positive on cleanliness, staff, comfort and central location.

A direct tram to the North Station branch does not run on every single tram path, so supporters should check the live timetable after the final whistle rather than assuming the next tram serves the station branch.

Blackpool pricing is more volatile than Fleetwood. The researched baseline deliberately uses quieter January/February dates and should not be read as a summer, Illuminations or major-event rate.

This option sacrifices Fleetwood atmosphere and the simplicity of walking back to a local hotel.

Official hotel information confirms 53 en-suite rooms, a lift, free car park, restaurant, Victoria Bar, gym and tram/bus stop across the road.

Bear in mind: Recent Tripadvisor evidence is mixed: a 18 September 2026 review alleges window, linen, carpet and noise problems, while an 8 September review reports serious wedding/function noise.

    Hotel details checked 2026-09-29
    More about this choice

Booking.com currently scores it 8.1/10 with particularly strong staff/location measures.

It is a straightforward Esplanade base with Fleetwood town centre and the waterfront close by.

It is better equipped than the smaller guesthouse-style Fleetwood options for guests who want a bar, restaurant, reception and lift in one building.

The hotel hosts weddings/functions, which can be a material sleep/noise consideration on some weekends.

Rooms and fittings are less consistently praised than the location and staff; Tripadvisor's room sub-rating is weaker than its location/service measures.

The six-date sample was more expensive than Savoy at weekends.
