Matchday parking at Fratton Park
Put your booked car park's own postcode into the sat-nav, not just Fratton Park, PO4 8RA. Portsmouth FC advises drivers from the west to use the M27/A27 then the A2030 towards Fratton.

Your route into Fratton Park
Head for the Milton End, at the eastern end of Fratton Park, rather than joining the home entrances on Frogmore Road. From Fratton station, use the Goldsmith Avenue exit described in Portsmouth's away guide, turn left and follow the stadium signs. Your ticket should confirm the turnstile you need. If you arrive by coach, Rodney Road is the club's stated visiting-supporter drop-off point, close to the away end. The Milton End opens around 90 minutes before kick-off according to the club guide. Access needs are different for wheelchair users, so arrange your arrival route with the club beforehand.
Away Fan Guide ↗Parking & park-and-ride
Book parking if you are driving to Fratton Park. Free on-street spaces are not a dependable matchday plan: Portsmouth enforces additional restrictions around the ground, and the Alverstone Road permit zone normally allows visitors just one hour. No named unrestricted stretch was verified. For the shortest walk, book Portsmouth FC's car park on Anson Road, PO4 8SX. Its away guide quotes £12 per car and says you must buy a parking e-ticket in advance. Do not turn up expecting to pay at the gate. Milton Cross School on Milton Road is another authorised option. The club's guide quotes £6, with parking opening two hours before kick-off and spaces allocated first come, first served. It is about a 15-minute walk to the away end. Confirm the fixture charge and opening. If those are full, Fratton station's APCOA car park on Selbourne Terrace is a public fallback, although it has only 66 spaces. The operator currently advertises £6.10 on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Pre-booked Asda parking at Somers Road North is another option; check the walking route. Allow at least four hours for parking, both walks, your pre-match arrival and the game. Aim to arrive at least 90 minutes early. Do not use Tesco Fratton or other customer car parks just because you are visiting a nearby shop: the football stay is longer than many customer limits. On evenings and Sundays, do not assume restrictions have ended. The council's matchday signs override normal expectations during the stated match window, and permit-zone limits can operate every day. A booked space farther from Rodney Road may help at full-time.

Do not rely on driving around the stadium looking for a final space. Where to stay
Stay near Fratton if the match is the main reason for the trip. Ibis budget Portsmouth on Fratton Way is next to the stadium and close to Fratton station, so you can walk to the Milton End without arranging taxis or matchday parking. It is the straightforward choice for an early start or a late finish. For a longer weekend, Portsmouth city centre, Gunwharf Quays or Southsea offer more eating, drinking and sightseeing. You would then travel back to Fratton by rail or bus rather than staying beside the ground. Check hotel parking and the final service before booking, especially after an evening fixture.
Ibis budget Portsmouth – location and facilities ↗For a proper overnight football trip, Portsmouth Harbour/Gunwharf is the strongest all-round base: it has the clearest concentration of bars and restaurants, Portsmouth Harbour station is useful for the Fratton connection, and there is more to do once the football finishes. Southsea works well for a more local independent-bar/restaurant feel. Stay beside Fratton Park when matchday convenience and price matter more than the evening around the hotel.
For the evening
Gunwharf Quays is the easiest mainstream post-match cluster, with a large concentration of bars and restaurants beside Portsmouth Harbour. Guildhall Walk is another city-centre drinking strip, while Palmerston Road/Southsea offers more independents. Old Portsmouth is quieter and more pub/food-led than late-night.
For the train
Fratton is the ground station. Portsmouth & Southsea is useful for the central/Guildhall area; Portsmouth Harbour serves The Hard, Gunwharf Quays and the Ship Leopard. Fratton Park to Portsmouth Harbour is roughly 2.4 miles on foot, but the rail connection makes the harbour side much more practical than that walking distance suggests.

Small independent feel gives it more character than the main budget chains while still being practical for a one-night football trip.
Only a small number of rooms; prices and availability can move sharply and sell-outs are more plausible than at a big chain.
It is not close enough to Fratton Park for most supporters to choose walking as the default return; rail or taxi is the sensible option.
Some reviews mention warm rooms, firm beds or occasional outside noise, although these are not the dominant themes.
