BEFORE YOU SET OFF
Put your trip together
01 · Arrive
Your route into Selhurst Park
Go to the Arthur Wait Stand on Park Road for the away turnstiles. The visiting section is at the Whitehorse Lane end of that stand, so follow signs and your ticket's entrance details instead of queuing with home supporters. The visiting ticket collection point is by Entrance 4, at the Park Road and Holmesdale Road corner. From Norwood Junction, follow Station Road and Selhurst Road before turning into Park Road. From Selhurst, walk along Selhurst Road into Park Road. If you arrive at Thornton Heath, use High Street and Whitehorse Lane, then turn towards Park Road. Allow time for stewarded pedestrian routes around the stadium.
02 · Before the match

It is popular enough that queues are part of the experience. There is no verified football door policy because it is a takeaway rather than a pub. Go early: supporter reports repeatedly mention long matchday queues.
03 · Stay or head home?
Choose your base before your hotel
Stay near East Croydon if you want a hotel with easy rail access to Selhurst Park and convenient onward journeys after the match. You can take a local Southern service towards Selhurst or Norwood Junction, then walk to the away entrance.

How it works
takeaway
88 Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, London, SE25 6RQ
A useful alternative to takeaway food for anyone arriving at Norwood Junction. It is two minutes from the station, family-friendly and built around sourdough pizza, with enough space for groups if booked ahead.
Expect sit down · family friendly · near station
Before you go No football-specific away-fan or colours policy is published. Norwood Junction is busy with Palace support, so large groups in colours should check directly.
The dependable fallback once you are through the away turnstiles. Selhurst is cashless and the current club menu includes burgers, hot dogs and pies, but visiting-concourse offers are not identical to the home sections.
Expect inside away end · cashless · matchday
Before you go The advertised £7 early-bird burger, hot dog or bean-pie plus beer deal is explicitly excluded from visiting concourses. Do not plan around it.

Where to stay
Stay near East Croydon if you want a hotel with easy rail access to Selhurst Park and convenient onward journeys after the match. You can take a local Southern service towards Selhurst or Norwood Junction, then walk to the away entrance. It is a stronger practical base than hunting for a room in the mostly residential streets surrounding the ground. Choose the Crystal Palace Triangle around Westow Hill and Church Road if your priority is an evening of independent pubs, cafés and restaurants. It has more character, but do not mistake Crystal Palace station for Selhurst Park's nearest stop. Thornton Heath and South Norwood are useful for a shorter local football visit, although they offer fewer straightforward hotel choices.
For the best all-round football trip, base yourself around central Croydon or East Croydon. You have a much deeper hotel market, late food and drink, and regular rail/bus links back from the Selhurst/Norwood Junction side. Crystal Palace itself is the more characterful evening base, but the club explicitly warns that Crystal Palace station is around two miles from the ground and is not the station to use for the match.
For the evening
The Crystal Palace Triangle - Westow Hill, Westow Street and Church Road - is the strongest local choice for an evening built around independent pubs and restaurants. Croydon offers a broader, more transport-led night out around East Croydon and BOXPARK, with food, drinks, live sport and events.
For the train
East Croydon is the strongest hotel/rail base. Crystal Palace FC lists regular services from East Croydon to Selhurst and Norwood Junction; from those stations the ground is about a 10-15 minute walk. This makes East Croydon hotels more useful than their raw map distance suggests.
