Matchday parking at Cardiff City Stadium
Set your sat-nav to the visitors' compound at CF11 8AW, rather than just the stadium's main reception. From the M4, use junction 33 and the A4232 towards Cardiff and Barry, then the B4267 stadium exit.

Your route into Cardiff City Stadium
Go straight to Gate 12 for the away end. It is on the Sloper Road side, beside the designated away coach and car compound, rather than at the main home-supporter entrance. If you have driven, follow the stadium signs from the Sector V car park towards that gate. From Ninian Park station, leave onto Leckwith Road and follow the stadium perimeter to the away entrance, not simply to the first turnstiles you see. From Cardiff Central, head southwest through Riverside and towards Sloper Road. Keep your ticket ready, allow time for security searches and check the precise block or turnstile on your ticket.
Cardiff City away supporters guide 2025/26 ↗Parking & park-and-ride
Use the away car park at Cardiff City Stadium if you want the shortest walk, but arrive early and bring cash. Sector V is off Sloper Road, CF11 8AW, immediately beside the away entrance. Cardiff's latest available away guide prices it at £10 per car, with no advance booking and spaces issued first come, first served. You may have to wait before driving out after the match. There is no named residential street we can confidently recommend as free for a full match visit. Permit bays, waiting restrictions and matchday enforcement affect the neighbourhood. Even when a kerbside space appears empty, you must check its own signs. Reports of available street parking are not proof that it is permitted. For a guaranteed booking rather than an on-the-day gamble, reserve an authorised driveway or off-street space through JustPark or YourParkingSpace. Advertised locations include Leckwith Close, Bartley Wilson Way and Sloper Road. Check the booking's exact address, arrival window and whether access is affected by the closures. Prices vary with the fixture. Pontcanna Fields council car park is a longer-stay alternative if you are happy with a longer onward journey. It is open 24 hours and costs £6.50 for over four hours Monday to Saturday, or £2.50 for over four hours on Sundays. Short-stay council sites in Canton, including Gray Street, have a four-hour limit, so they are not a safe full-match fallback. Allow four to five hours for football, including both walks, pre-match arrival, the game and traffic delays. Do not use the retail park beside the stadium: Cardiff specifically warns that matchday vehicles are ticketed. A separate authorised private booking is not the same as leaving a car in an ordinary shopper's bay.

The club warns that some sat-nav routes take drivers through the city centre and add unnecessary congestion. Follow matchday electronic signs on your approach.
Stadium parking can shut to arrivals about 30 minutes before kick-off. After full-time, the club describes managed closures around Sloper Road and Leckwith Road, sometimes lasting up to an hour. Check any temporary roadworks and the actual fixture instructions before setting off.

- Parking verdict
- Official £10 first-come away Sector V is simplest; advance-book a legitimate private space if certainty matters; no named free street verified
- Free option — area
- No legally confirmed and matchday-suitable named street segment identified near Gate 12
- Legal restrictions — stadium neighbourhood
- Resident permit bay eligibility is controlled by permits and individual signed restrictions; enforcement is active on event days
- Legal restrictions — Riverside and Pontcanna proposals
- Consultation maps include Ninian Park Road and Wellington Street; proposal does not demonstrate that new CPZ is already active
- Matchday availability — residential streets
- Supporter report describes circling and congested street departures; not evidence of legal unrestricted parking
- Official away parking
- Car Park Sector V, entry from Sloper Road / Clos Parc Morgannwg CF11 8AW
- Official parking price
- £10 cash on gate in latest available 2025/26 away guide; 2026/27 tariff not independently published
- Official parking booking
- First come, first served; no pre-booking of ordinary away compound
- Walk — official Sector V
- Directly outside visitor entrance Gate 12; no exact bay-to-turnstile duration needed
- Arrive by — Sector V
- Aim at least 60–90 minutes before kick-off as planning allowance; official closure can be 30 minutes before
- Paid fallback — private driveway
- Pre-bookable spaces on Leckwith Close, Sloper Road and Bartley Wilson Way; prices and availability depend on match
- Booking recommendation
- Book an explicitly authorised private bay if arriving late or a guaranteed space matters; Sector V itself cannot be reserved
- Paid fallback — Pontcanna Fields long stay
- Pontcanna Fields car park CF11 9HY open 24 hours; over four hours £6.50 Mon–Sat or £2.50 Sunday in published tariff; further walk or transport required
- Paid fallback — Sophia Gardens long stay
- Sophia Gardens CF11 9FH: six hours £8.50, 24-hour operation; farther from away gate
- Council short-stay limitation — Gray Street
- Gray Street CF11 9NE, 24-hour access, four-hour maximum stay: £5 Mon–Sat, £1.50 Sunday; do not overstay
- Supermarket permission/time limit
- Cardiff FC explicitly prohibits retail-park matchday use; YourParkingSpace describes 90-minute limits nearby; independently booked authorised product must be checked separately
- Total dwell time
- Budget four to five hours for arriving early, both walks, match including interval and stoppages, and departure; longer for cup extra time or queues
- After the match
- Club says away compound may be held around 30 minutes after full time and Sloper/Leckwith closures up to about an hour
- Retail-parking authorised independent offers
- JustPark lists Asda Leckwith Road parking bookings; existence of a marketplace listing does not make adjacent unbooked customer bays suitable

Where to stay
Stay near Cardiff Central if you are arriving by train or want a proper evening in the city. It puts restaurants, pubs and St Mary Street within easy reach, with a roughly 25-minute walk or the matchday bus to the ground. For a late finish, you will also have a simpler route back to your hotel than relying on a local rail connection. Pontcanna and Riverside are useful alternatives if you prefer a quieter neighbourhood and a shorter journey towards Leckwith. They have pubs and food without the busiest city-centre streets, although your exact walk to Gate 12 depends on where you stay. There is little reason to choose accommodation immediately beside the stadium purely for matchday access. Check hotel rates against other events in Cardiff, particularly rugby and concerts, and arrange your return transport before booking.
Places to stay in Cardiff ↗Use the city centre if the trip includes a train journey, a proper evening out or an early departure the next morning. Choose Pontcanna/Riverside instead if reducing the stadium walk matters more than being directly in the St Mary Street nightlife core.
For the evening
St Mary Street is the clearest late-night base, with Mill Lane, Womanby Street and the wider central bar/restaurant area close by. Pontcanna offers a more neighbourhood-led pub/food evening and is calmer, but it does not have the same density of late-night options.
For the train
Cardiff Central is the key arrival point. The club states it is about 1.5 miles from Cardiff City Stadium. Ninian Park is much closer to the stadium but has a more limited service pattern and no Sunday service.
