Plan a stay at Cambridge United ↗Go to the South Habbin away entrance on the Coldham’s Common side of the stadium. From the club shop on Newmarket Road, turn left and follow the footpath beside the ground to the far end. You can also approach the away side from Coldham’s Lane; do not mistake the ticket-office frontage for the away turnstiles. The club’s visiting guide describes a mixture of standing terrace and seats in South Habbin, with accessible positions there too. Check your ticket for the exact area, since older guides refer to different allocations. Supporters arriving by coach are dropped at the Newmarket Road frontage and must still use the Coldham’s Common route.
Cambridge United Cledara Abbey Stadium fan guide 2025/26 ↗After the final whistle, follow the Coldham’s Common path back to Newmarket Road before choosing your onward route. For the Park & Ride, join the designated return service and allow for the walk and any waiting. The club advertised special 21:00, 21:30 and 22:00 buses for midweek games in 2025/26; confirm the service still applies to your fixture. If you used a private driveway, check the return route before the game and expect local traffic around Newmarket Road to build. Drivers at Riverside or Gwydir Street can avoid looking for a space in the stadium streets, but neither car park guarantees a quick exit. Rail travellers should check the last useful train and allow enough time to reach Cambridge North or Cambridge station.
Cambridge United Cledara Abbey Stadium fan guide 2025/26 ↗Stay around Parker’s Piece or the eastern edge of central Cambridge if you want a football weekend with restaurants and pubs close by. You can travel onwards to the Abbey by Citi 3 or take a longer walk along the Newmarket Road side of town.

Compare the stay areas →Use Cambridge North if your train stops there and you are happy to walk. Cambridge United puts it around 30 minutes from the stadium. Follow the signed walking route towards the Newmarket Road side, then use the Coldham’s Common path to reach the away entrance. Leave extra time for that final approach.
Cambridge station is the better choice for many longer-distance trains. The club estimates a 40–45-minute walk, so the Citi 3 bus towards Newmarket Road is usually easier. Get off at Ditton Walk and follow the away-supporter signs. Both Cambridge and Cambridge North stations have step-free access to their platforms, but that does not establish a fully step-free route to your turnstile.

Use the Citi 3 from Cambridge railway station or the city centre and get off at Ditton Walk on Newmarket Road. The club describes a frequent daytime service, with fewer journeys in the evening. Check Stagecoach for your actual return rather than assuming a regular daytime frequency after the final whistle.
If driving, the dedicated Newmarket Road Park & Ride matchday return costs £3.80 per person and stops by the stadium. Buy it on the bus from the driver. The car park itself stays open around the clock, but the bus has its own operating hours. For midweek football the club has advertised special late departures; check that your particular fixture is covered.
Away coaches unload at the Newmarket Road frontage, where stewards direct the stop. Cambridge United’s supporter liaison guide asks operators to tell the club their coach numbers at least a week ahead. From the drop-off, walk along the outside of the stadium to the South Habbin entrance on Coldham’s Common.
Drivers are then directed to holding parking, with a lay-by near Stow-cum-Quy used for smaller coach movements. The guide describes Marshall’s Airport parking for exceptional larger allocations, subject to agreement. After full-time, follow your organiser’s exact collection instructions and the stewards’ directions rather than assuming your coach will remain outside the away turnstiles.
Contact Cambridge United before travelling if you need an accessible away ticket, wheelchair position or reserved parking. The club lists three away wheelchair spaces in South Habbin and limited stadium disabled parking, largely used by permit holders. Email dslo@cambridgeunited.com or call 01223 566500 to discuss the approach and arrangements for your fixture.
Cambridge and Cambridge North stations both have step-free access to their platforms. Newmarket Road Park & Ride advertises accessible buses and designated bays, but you should check the onward path over Coldham’s Common. AccessAble records a slope and says there is not level access into the away-side accessible entrance. Ask for a suitable gate and arrival route rather than assuming the final approach is step-free.

Stay around Parker’s Piece or the eastern edge of central Cambridge if you want a football weekend with restaurants and pubs close by. You can travel onwards to the Abbey by Citi 3 or take a longer walk along the Newmarket Road side of town. This is the most useful compromise if you are arriving by train and staying out after the match. Newmarket Road accommodation is better if minimising the matchday journey matters more than the evening. It puts you closer to the ground and the Park & Ride corridor, but it offers less of central Cambridge’s atmosphere. A Cambridge station hotel makes rail arrivals easy, although it leaves you farther from both the stadium and parts of the city centre.
Travelling to Cambridge United ↗For the best balance, the Parker's Piece / Gonville Place edge of the centre works well: you remain on the correct side of town for the Abbey but can walk into the central evening. Choose Newmarket Road if price and the shortest possible matchday walk matter more than nightlife.
Visit Cambridge specifically points visitors towards Regent Street and Downing Street for late-night bars and clubs. Market Square, St Andrew's Street and the surrounding central streets add more pubs and restaurants.
Cambridge station is about a mile from the city centre and around a 20-25 minute walk according to Greater Anglia. Station Square is convenient for arrivals, but it is south of both the Abbey and the main central nightlife core, so it is not automatically the best football base.

Bear in mind: It is materially dearer than the Newmarket Road budget hotels and Holiday Inn Express.

The stadium is not a short walk; allow a longer walk or use a bus/taxi.
Several September 2026 reviews raise maintenance, breakfast and value concerns, so this is not an unqualified luxury recommendation.

The hotel says the city centre is about a 20-minute walk away, so the evening is still reachable.
The best bars and late-night venues are in the city centre rather than immediately outside the hotel.
Road noise and warm rooms in hot weather recur in review evidence.
Premier Inn Cambridge East is mapped about 0.1 mile / one minute closer to the Abbey by one current source; Travelodge is selected here because the practical difference is negligible and the affiliate/booking trail is stronger.
Travelodge weekend price sampling is lower-confidence: two representative weekend checks succeeded before the connected pricing provider began throttling additional calls.
