BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Put your trip together

01 · Arrive

Your route into Ashton Gate Stadium

Go to the Atyeo Stand at the Ashton Road end of Ashton Gate, using the away-supporter route through the Ashton Road car-park approach. Do not cut through the residential gaps behind the stand. Visiting-club guidance identifies the away turnstiles there, while your own match ticket and stewards will confirm the entrance in use. From Parson Street, walk towards Winterstoke Road and continue to the stadium perimeter, then follow Atyeo and away-fan signs. If you arrive by matchday bus or at a nearby car park, allow extra time to reach this end of the ground rather than the nearest home entrance. Expect searches at the turnstiles, particularly before a busy kick-off.

02 · Before the match

Ashton Gate - Atyeo away bar and catering

The exact outdoor bar, Fan Village footprint and opening arrangements are fixture-dynamic. Check the current visiting-club or Bristol City match guide rather than assuming every part of the wider Fan Village is available to away supporters.

03 · Stay or head home?

Choose your base before your hotel

Stay around the Harbourside or Old City if you want a full Bristol away weekend. There is a much stronger choice of hotels, food and pubs, with the matchday AG3 bus or an onward local connection bringing you towards Ashton Gate.

Ashton Gate - Atyeo away bar and catering

Good for The least ambiguous pre-match drink close to the away end · Supporters who prefer to stay within the stadium footprint

For visiting supporters who want to avoid guessing about pub admission, the Atyeo end has the strongest match-specific evidence. Ipswich Town's September 2025 SLO guide says the Guinness Bar outside the Atyeo Stand serves away supporters and that the away concourse sells pies, burgers, hot dogs, alcoholic drinks and soft drinks. Ashton Gate's wider Fan Village was still operating for Bristol City fixtures in September 2026, with local food, music and activities.

Expect stadium side · dedicated away area · practical

Pub food

Tobacco Factory Cafe Bar

15 min walk

Good for Families wanting food before the match · Supporters who prefer a cafe-bar atmosphere to a football pub

Tobacco Factory is attractive on facilities: the current venue site confirms long opening hours, substantial food service and an explicit family-friendly policy. Current 2026 away-guide material describes it as a relaxed mixed-crowd option about 15 minutes from Ashton Gate, and a July 2026 Bristol City discussion calls it one of the better North Street bets for a visiting fan. However, Ipswich Town's September 2025 SLO guide repeated earlier Bristol City advice for away supporters to avoid North Street pubs, so it should not be treated as universally away-friendly.

Expect relaxed · food led · arts venue

Before you go This is a genuine evidence conflict. Check the specific fixture's club/SLO/police guidance before recommending it to away supporters, especially for high-risk matches or anyone planning to wear colours.

Pub food

Bristol Beer Factory Tap Room

15 min walk

Good for local beer · live sport

An excellent matchday pub on its own merits, with fresh local beer and live sport, but away admission needs the same fixture-specific caution as the rest of North Street.

Expect brewery tap · live sport · North Street

Before you go Do not describe it as guaranteed away-friendly. Check visiting-club guidance, especially for high-risk opponents or anyone wearing colours.

Food & drink
Bristol Beer Factory beers and burgers; designed more as a beer-and-sport stop than a full restaurant.

Pub food

King Street Brew House

45 min walk

Good for Train arrivals wanting food, beer and live sport in the city centre · Supporters who would rather drink centrally than test pubs close to the ground

Its current official site confirms food, house-brewed beer, multiple live-sport screens and a child-friendly daytime policy. Ipswich Town's September 2025 SLO guide says it is popular with Town fans and has often been used by their South West branch before games at Ashton Gate. A separate Bristol City supporter discussion from September 2025 also described King Street as away-friendly.

Expect city centre · brewpub · live sport

Before you go This is a city-centre base rather than a near-ground pub. The 45-minute walking time comes from the Ipswich visiting guide; many supporters in that guide were said to use onward transport instead. Late Friday/Saturday evenings are described by the venue as more adult-oriented.

pies, burgers, hot dogs, snacks and drinks

Ashton Gate Atyeo Away Bar & Concourse

0 min walk

Good for least ambiguous near ground drink · late arrivals

The least ambiguous close-to-ground option because the bar and kiosks are specifically documented for visiting supporters rather than relying on pub-door policy.

Expect away end · cashless · stadium food

Before you go Do not rely on half-time stock. A January 2026 visitor reported food selling out, and a QPR visitor described only two small away kiosks.

Food & drink
Pies, burgers and hot dogs are the verified concession categories. The Guinness Bar outside the Atyeo serves draught products to away supporters.

Fish and chips and British seafood

Salt & Malt – Wapping Wharf

Good for central hotel guests · fish and chips

A much better harbourside stop than a generic station takeaway if you have time before heading south to the stadium. Proper fish and chips travel well; the restaurant offers a slower option for an overnight stay.

Expect harbourside · fish and chips · takeaway

Before you go Official Wapping Wharf page lists Tue–Thu takeaway noon–9pm, Fri/Sat noon–9.30pm and Sun noon–8pm. It is shut Mondays under listed hours.

Food & drink
Haddock or hake and chips, fishcakes, scampi, battered halloumi, mushy peas; separate seated seafood menu.

A good food-first alternative for early arrivals or families who would rather eat in Bedminster before heading to the ground.

Expect bakery · brunch · pizza

Before you go It is not a football venue and has no away-supporter policy. Allow enough time for the onward walk; Friday and Saturday evenings are more dining-led.

Food & drink
Fresh bread and pastries, seasonal brunch, Detroit/New York-style pizza by the slice or whole pie, and coffee.
How it works
cafe and bakery

Stadium food kiosks

Ashton Gate – Atyeo Stand away concourse catering

Good for last-minute bite · away-ticket holders

The simplest fallback once you reach the away turnstiles. Visiting-club guidance confirms basic hot food and drinks in the Atyeo concourse, but do not come expecting the full range of South Stand street-food traders.

Expect stadium · very busy at half-time

Before you go Cashless. A QPR visitor reported only two small kiosks; another supporter reported food exhausted by half-time. Buy before the rush if relying on it.

Food & drink

Traditional Bristol savoury pies and pasties

Clark’s Pies – North Street bakehouse

Good for local speciality · Saturday early arrivals

For a genuinely Bristol matchday snack, pick up a Clark’s pie while walking North Street. The original beef-and-kidney filling is the local signature; steak and ale and savoury pasties offer other choices.

Expect Bristol classic · takeaway · morning option

Before you go Bakehouse hours: Tue/Sat 8am–2pm; Mon/Wed/Thu/Fri generally 8am–2.30pm; closed Sunday. A reported matchday van is not confirmed for every fixture.

259 North Street, Ashton Gate, Bristol BS3 1JN

Burgers, fried chicken and loaded fries

Oowee Diner – North Street

Good for burger fans · families or small groups

A reliable choice when the group wants big burgers and loaded fries rather than a sit-down restaurant meal. The North Street diner has seating and specifically invites advance collection orders, useful when kick-off is getting close.

Expect casual · hearty · busy matchday

Before you go Operator lists Sat/Sun opening from 9am and weekday opening from 11.30am. Pre-order collection rather than treating a reported matchday burger deal as permanent.

Food & drink
Saucy Bird fried chicken burger, Dirty Double burger, Cluckin’ waffle fries, original chicken tenders, thick shakes.
How it works
Counter-order eat-in or takeaway; advance collection by telephone

202 North Street, Bristol BS3 1JF

Middle Eastern shawarma and grilled wraps

North Street Shawarma

Good for quick hot wrap · vegetarian wrap option

Good for a substantial hand-held meal: the shawarma wraps are easier to take away than a long restaurant sitting, and the menu has falafel and halloumi alternatives. Choose collection to control your stop.

Expect quick takeaway · spiced wraps

Before you go Menu is confirmed by the operator; third-party ordering hours generally show Tue–Thu from 1pm and Saturday from 1pm. Recheck actual shop hours.

Food & drink
Chicken or lamb shawarma wraps, falafel and halloumi wraps, shawarma boxes with rice or chips; family meal deals.
How it works
Takeaway and online ordering

283 North Street, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 1JP

Independent sourdough pizza

Pizzarova – North Street

Good for vegetarian or vegan choice · groups

A flexible pizza stop for couples, groups or families, with collection as well as seats. The menu includes interesting toppings without forgetting the basics, plus vegetarian and vegan swaps.

Expect pizza · independent · casual

Before you go North Street branch advertises Mon/Tue noon–9pm, Wed–Sat noon–9.30pm. Low-gluten bases share an oven with wheat pizzas, so coeliac suitability is not guaranteed.

Food & drink
Sourdough Margherita, Miso Mushroom, Double Chorizo with hot honey, plant-based sausage ragù; vegan cheese available.
How it works
Eat-in, takeaway, order to collect

237 North Street, Bristol BS3 1JJ

Sourdough pizza and Italian-style casual dining

Pizza Workshop – North Street

Good for pre-booked groups · evening kick-offs

Choose Pizza Workshop if you want a proper pizza table before the game or a pre-ordered takeaway. It takes bookings for parties of up to eight, and the operator advertises advance collection to keep the stop manageable.

Expect seated pizza · groups

Before you go North Street lists Mon–Wed 5pm opening and Thu–Sun noon opening. Standard online collection is advertised at 15 minutes, not a matchday guarantee.

Food & drink
Slow-fermented sourdough pizzas, bocca sourdough sandwiches, sides and desserts.
How it works
Seated canteen-style dining, takeaway, collection ordered ahead

232 North Street, Southville, Bristol BS3 1JD

Neighbourhood brunch and modern British meals

The Malago

Good for breakfast · families

A comfortable pre-match breakfast choice if you are staying locally or arriving with family. It covers full English-style plates, vegetarian and vegan breakfasts, and lighter dishes without forcing everyone into burger-and-chips.

Expect brunch · sit down · neighbourhood restaurant

Before you go The official contact page gives Friday/Saturday opening from 10am, but the brunch page advertises breakfast from 9am. Treat a 9am arrival as unconfirmed; book or call.

Food & drink
Full cooked Malago breakfast, vegetarian and vegan breakfast, French toast, panini; Sunday roasts.
How it works
Sit-down café and restaurant

220 North Street, Southville, Bristol BS3 1JD

Vegetarian café-bar dining, brunch and seasonal mains

Tobacco Factory Café Bar

Good for plant-based diners · families with children

The best all-round vegetarian sit-down choice in the immediate Southville food area, with family facilities and an appealing space for mixed ages. Its bar setting, however, makes football-match admission less certain than a takeaway.

Expect vegetarian · family friendly · large café-bar

Before you go Food generally runs weekdays 10am–3pm and 5.30pm–9pm, Friday/Saturday continuously 10am–9pm. Visiting-club advice has previously discouraged North Street pubs; colours policy is not confirmed.

Food & drink
Freshly prepared vegetarian mains and brunch; children’s menu; locally sourced dishes and non-alcoholic drinks.
How it works
Sit-down café-bar and outdoor covered seating

Raleigh Road, Southville, Bristol BS3 1TF

Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean sharing dishes

Soukitchen – Southville

Good for small groups · evening dining

A strong choice for supporters who want dinner to be part of the trip rather than just fuel before kick-off. Shared dishes suit a small group, but allow a full restaurant sitting and pre-book.

Expect sit down · sharing plates · food-led trip

Before you go Operator lists Mon–Sat dinner from 5–9.30pm and Wed–Sat lunch from noon–2.30pm. A Saturday 12.30pm kick-off makes pre-match lunch impractical.

Food & drink
Seasonal Eastern Mediterranean plates and sharing mezze; vegetarian-friendly combinations.
How it works
Seated restaurant; book ahead

277 North Street, Southville, Bristol BS3 1JP

Coffee, breakfast bites and savoury snacks

Kofi Lounge – Ashton Gate

Good for coffee · families

Handy for a hot drink and small snack near Ashton Gate without committing to a pub meal. It is on the main stadium side rather than beside the visiting-supporter turnstiles, so allow for a separate walk around.

Expect coffee shop · light bite · stadium side

Before you go Visit Bristol says open every matchday and weekdays 8am–4pm; exact matchday opening times are not given. Public access and any ticket segregation arrangements remain unverified.

Food & drink
Coffee, muffins, sweet treats and light savoury snacks; not a full guaranteed hot-meal option.
How it works
Café counter, sit-in or takeaway

Ashton Gate Stadium, Winterstoke Road entrance, Bristol BS3 2EJ

Indian curry-house meals and takeaway

Coronation Curry House

Good for curry lovers · planned evening dinner

For a longer curry before an evening match or an overnight meal, this is a distinctive local alternative to pizza and burgers. The operator says dishes are cooked to order, so allow time.

Expect sit-down curry · takeaway · small groups

Before you go Operator confirms current menu and location but does not expose reliable dining hours in the checked pages. Ring before travel; do not assume it can serve immediately before or after the final whistle.

Food & drink
Paneer tikka, onion bhajis, chicken tikka, curries, biryanis, naan and vegetarian dishes.
How it works
Cooked-to-order restaurant, takeaway and delivery

Modern British small plates with Mediterranean influence

COR Restaurant

Good for overnight football trip · special occasion

For supporters staying overnight and wanting one memorable Bristol meal, COR is a credible choice. Its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition reflects serious cooking, but the setting calls for a reservation and time to enjoy it.

Expect food led · special meal · reservation

Before you go Official hours: Tue–Thu noon–3pm and 5–10pm; Sat noon–10pm. Only upstairs toilets are available at the restaurant, which matters for some accessibility needs.

Food & drink
Seasonal small plates and sharing dishes; set menus and dedicated vegan/kids or allergen menus.
How it works
Full-service, reservation-led restaurant

WHERE TO STAY

Where should you stay?

Choose a base for the football and the rest of your visit.

Where to stay

Stay around the Harbourside or Old City if you want a full Bristol away weekend. There is a much stronger choice of hotels, food and pubs, with the matchday AG3 bus or an onward local connection bringing you towards Ashton Gate. That is usually easier for long-distance rail travellers than looking for a room next to the stadium. Southville and Bedminster suit supporters who prefer to walk to football and spend the evening closer to the ground. North Street has places to eat and drink, while Ashton Gate itself is a stadium district rather than a hotel quarter. Check how you will return after the match, particularly for late trains and any fixture-specific restrictions on away-supporter pub admission.

Getting to Ashton Gate (club venue and travel information) ↗

For most overnight supporters, the Harbourside/Old City is the strongest all-round base because it combines reliable hotel stock, food, pubs and a manageable onward journey to Ashton Gate. If walking to the ground matters more than late-night city-centre choice, stay in Southville instead.

For the evening

For the broadest evening choice, favour the Old City, King Street/Welsh Back and the Harbourside. King Street is a recognised craft-beer/pub cluster, while the Harbourside adds restaurants, bars and late-evening options. North Street is a good local alternative if you prefer to stay in BS3.

For the train

Bristol Temple Meads is east of the main centre and is not the natural hotel base for Ashton Gate. The Bristol is about a 15-minute walk from the station and Clayton about 16 minutes; Southville Guest House is roughly a 30-minute walk, so a taxi/bus is more attractive with luggage.
