Holiday Inn Manchester - Oldham by IHG
Bardsley / south Oldham
The strongest all-round Oldham stay when MatchdayHotels has to put its name behind the recommendation. It is not the closest hotel to Boundary Park, but it offers a more complete and consistently reviewed hotel experience than the stadium-edge budget choices: proper reception, bar/restaurant, free parking and recently strong feedback on staff, rooms and breakfast.
- Current full-service hotel with free on-site parking, restaurant/lounge and fitness facilities.
- Normal sampled rates remain broadly around the £80-£110 mark rather than Manchester city-centre prices.
Too far to treat as a matchday walk. Best for supporters arriving by car or prepared to take a taxi; there is no hotel local-area shuttle.
About 3.1 miles from Boundary Park, so this is not a sensible stadium walk; plan on taxi, car or local transport.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.
Premier Inn Oldham Central
Westwood / Boundary Park
The obvious choice when the trip is built around the football rather than the hotel. It is effectively at Boundary Park's doorstep, removing the post-match transport problem altogether. The trade-off is that this is a straightforward chain stay on a leisure/retail edge of town, with a much weaker evening location and no Booking.com coverage found in the checks.
- Boundary Park is roughly 0.1 miles away, making this the only primary choice where the stadium is genuinely a couple of minutes on foot.
- Free parking and predictable Premier Inn-style accommodation suit supporters arriving by car.
This is the cleanest 'walk out of the ground and be back at the hotel' option in the market.
No Booking.com listing was found during the live research, so this cannot currently use MatchdayHotels' principal hotel affiliate route.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.
Hotel Indigo Manchester - Victoria Station by IHG
Manchester Victoria / Northern Quarter
This is the deliberate city-base choice: pay more and accept a longer match journey in exchange for being beside Manchester Victoria, the Northern Quarter, Corn Exchange/Exchange Square and a much deeper choice of food and drinks after the game. It is a genuine nightlife recommendation rather than pretending Oldham's stadium edge can compete with central Manchester.
- Immediately beside Manchester Victoria, simplifying the start/end of a public-transport trip toward Oldham.
- At the gateway to the Northern Quarter and close to a large concentration of bars, restaurants and late-night options.
Distance is Manchester Victoria-to-Boundary Park road mileage. For public transport, use the Oldham/Rochdale Metrolink corridor and plan for the final walk from Westwood; a taxi is the simpler late-night option.
Manchester Victoria is about 8.3 road miles from Boundary Park, so this is not a stadium-convenience hotel.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Use Boundary Park, Furtherwood Road, Oldham, OL1 2PA as your destination, but follow matchday signs to the parking area you have chosen. From the M62, visiting guidance uses junction 20 and the A627(M) towards Oldham, followed by the Chadderton Way and Westhulme Way approach. Do not drive straight into the stadium car parks expecting public access.
There is a significant temporary restriction: sewage works have closed much of Sheepfoot Lane, with reopening expected by the end of October 2026. This affects nearby car-park entrances and traffic, so allow extra time and check the signed diversions, particularly for an evening fixture.
- Stadium sat-nav
- Boundary Park, Furtherwood Road, OL1 2PA
- Main road approach
- M62 junction 20, A627(M), Chadderton Way, Westhulme Way for hospital parking
- Temporary closure
- Most of Sheepfoot Lane between Boundary Park and Oldham Road closed for sewage works; expected reopening October 2026
- Specific planned reopening
- Oldham Athletic reported expected Friday 30 October 2026; subject to actual completion
- Roadworks and car parks
- Rear of Sheepfoot Lane car park used for construction; main Joe Royle Stand/Sheepfoot Lane car parks restricted to permit/season holders
Parking & park-and-ride
You need not gamble on street parking at Boundary Park. The most dependable choice is the designated Royal Oldham Hospital matchday car park, entered from Westhulme Way behind B&Q. Oldham Athletic offers advance booking and pay-on-arrival there; a September 2026 visiting guide quotes £6. Booking is sensible for busier fixtures.
For a genuinely free alternative, consider Wellington Street long-stay car park in Chadderton. Oldham Council lists 55 spaces and says its Chadderton car parks are free without a time limit unless signs say otherwise. It is considerably farther from the ground, and the full walking route to the away entrance has not been checked. Spaces are not guaranteed.
We could not confirm an unrestricted, matchday-safe section of nearby residential road. Ground guides report cones and scarce street parking, while roadworks may alter access. Do not assume Furtherwood Road, Sheepfoot Lane or neighbouring streets offer free parking.
If the hospital fills, B&Q Oldham offers authorised pre-booked football parking through YourParkingSpace; Premier Inn Oldham Central also lists bookable parking. Prices vary. That is different from leaving a car in B&Q's unbooked customer spaces, where permission for football is not confirmed.
Allow four to five hours for your whole visit, including both walks, the match and departure. Three hours of customer parking is unlikely to suffice. B&Q's booked access ends at 4pm on Sundays, so check the operator's conditions carefully for afternoon fixtures. The main stadium car parks are currently permit-only.
Arrive early and expect some delays after full-time. Another planned fallback is Oldham Mumps park-and-ride: parking is free with a valid Metrolink ticket, then take the tram to Westwood and walk. It is not unrestricted free stadium parking.
- Parking verdict
- Booking is advisable for convenience at busy fixtures; free council off-street parking is possible with a longer walk, but no specific free on-street matchday space is verified
- Paid fallback
- Designated Royal Oldham NHS Hospital matchday car park behind B&Q, access via Westhulme Way; pay on day or pre-book
- Paid fallback — hospital reported cost
- £6 in Chesterfield visiting guide of September 2026; not a confirmed universal future tariff
- Walk — hospital to away end
- Short walk; visiting guide/ground-guide estimates around 5–10 minutes
- Booking recommendation
- Pre-book hospital parking if a reliable space matters, especially for larger fixtures and roadworks; on-day payment also offered
- Free option — Wellington Street Chadderton
- Council-run Wellington Street long-stay car park, 55 spaces; free without time limit unless site signs say otherwise
- Walk — Wellington Street Chadderton
- Car park is approximately 1.25km in a straight line from Boundary Park; full walking route and time to visiting entrance unverified
- Matchday availability — Wellington Street Chadderton
- Availability on football Saturdays not confirmed; 55 spaces not reserved for stadium visitors
- Matchday availability — nearby streets
- Ground-guide reports limited street parking and frequent coning; anecdotal, not proof of legal restrictions on individual bays
- Legal restrictions — stadium car parks
- Joe Royle Stand and Sheepfoot Lane car parks are restricted to permit and parking season-ticket holders during sewage works
- Arrive by — hospital car park
- Allow generous pre-match time; no verified universal cut-off or guaranteed on-day availability
- Paid fallback — authorised B&Q booking
- YourParkingSpace markets reservable football parking at B&Q Oldham, Westhulme Way; listed access 7am–8pm Mon–Sat, 10am–4pm Sun
- Paid fallback — Premier Inn
- YourParkingSpace lists 24-hour reservable parking at Premier Inn Oldham Central with matchday tariffs
- Supermarket permission/time limit
- Unbooked B&Q customer parking not verified as permitted for football; YourParkingSpace sells separately authorised booked spaces, with restricted access hours
- Total dwell time
- Plan roughly 4–5 hours including arrival, walks, match, stoppage time and exit; extra for cup ties or roadwork delays
- Free park-and-ride — Oldham Mumps
- 182 ordinary spaces plus 11 disabled spaces listed; parking free only to passengers with a valid Metrolink ticket
- After the match
- 2026 football-parking customer reviews report queues exiting B&Q/Westhulme Way; severity varies by fixture
- No Sunday customer-parking shortcut
- B&Q booked site advertises Sunday access 10am–4pm, unsuitable for many afternoon football visits unless operator explicitly confirms otherwise

Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Use Westwood Metrolink stop for Boundary Park. Trams link it with Manchester Victoria, and visiting-club guidance puts the final walk at about 20 minutes. From Westwood, head towards Featherstall Road North, then towards Westhulme Way and the ground; allow more time for the walk to your specific away turnstile.
Mills Hill is a National Rail alternative, but it is much farther from the stadium and less convenient for most travelling supporters. If you arrive by mainline train in Manchester, change for the tram rather than expecting a convenient railway station outside the ground. Check your final return connection before setting off.
- Best rail/tram arrival
- Westwood Metrolink; approximately 20 minutes on foot in visiting-club guidance
- Manchester connection
- Manchester Victoria to Westwood by Metrolink; approximately 20 minutes on tram in visiting guide
- Alternative National Rail
- Mills Hill (Manchester); much farther from Boundary Park, not the simplest station for a walking arrival
- Westwood walking direction
- Middleton Road, Featherstall Road North, then Westhulme Way towards the ground
Station to ground & away entrance
Head for the Chadderton Road End at Boundary Park, where visiting supporters are normally seated behind the goal. Follow the away signs and the entrance details on your match ticket rather than walking towards the home stands. The ground address is Furtherwood Road, Oldham, OL1 2PA.
From Westwood tram stop, approach by Featherstall Road North and Westhulme Way, taking care at the major road crossings. The final stretch rises towards the stadium, so give yourself extra time in poor weather or if walking is difficult. The exact away turnstiles can change with the allocation.
- Away stand
- Chadderton Road End, behind one goal
- Ground address
- Boundary Park, Furtherwood Road, Oldham, OL1 2PA
- Walking approach from tram
- Middleton Road, Featherstall Road North, then Westhulme Way
- Away wheelchair position
- Chadderton Road End at pitch level; dedicated accessible arrival requires club arrangements

Coaches
Away coaches
Travel on your visiting club’s official coach if you want to avoid arranging a parking space. Newport County’s visiting guide describes a drop-off immediately outside the away end at Boundary Park, so the walk can be very short when that arrangement is used.
Confirm the coach’s drop-off and collection point with your own club before travelling. Current roadworks and stadium car-park changes may alter access, and a previous visiting club’s drop-off is not proof that every coach can stop there. Find out where your coach will wait after full-time before heading through the turnstiles.
- Historical visiting-coach drop-off
- Newport County guide (November 2025) describes direct drop-off outside away end; fixture-specific, not guaranteed for other matches
- Coach roadwork caution
- Sheepfoot Lane closure and car-park adjustments may affect approaches until expected end of October 2026
Buses
Buses & local travel
If you are coming from Oldham town centre, the 409 bus towards Royton and Rochdale is useful. Board at Oldham bus station and get off at the Royal Oldham Hospital stop on Rochdale Road, then walk towards Boundary Park. Check the direction and stop for your return journey.
Westwood Metrolink is the straightforward choice from Manchester. The 402 also serves the wider area, but Sheepfoot Lane works have diverted it away from Carlton Way during the current closure. Do not plan a stadium-side drop-off on that route without checking the latest Bee Network information.
- Bus from Oldham centre
- 409 towards Royton/Rochdale, from Oldham bus station, serving Royal Oldham Hospital on Rochdale Road
- Return bus direction
- 409 towards Oldham/Ashton from Royal Oldham Hospital stop in the opposite direction
- Temporary route warning
- 402 not operating through Carlton Way while Sheepfoot Lane works are in progress
- Tram alternative
- Westwood Metrolink stop; use the Rochdale/Manchester Metrolink service as appropriate
Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Arrange accessible seats and parking with Oldham Athletic or your visiting club before travelling. Level Playing Field reports eight away wheelchair positions at pitch level in the Chadderton Road End, plus accessible toilets. The number of disabled parking spaces is limited and they are prioritised according to need.
A wheelchair supporter reviewing a March 2026 visit describes pre-booked accessible parking and entering through a stewarded gate near the Joe Royle Stand, rather than the normal turnstiles. That is useful first-hand experience, not a promise of the same entrance for every fixture. Westwood Metrolink has step-free tram access, but you should check the onward street route and any temporary closures.
- Away wheelchair positions
- Eight, in the Chadderton Road End at pitch level according to club-provided LPF information updated March 2026
- Disabled parking
- Limited supply; prioritisation by need, arrange with club in advance
- Club accessibility contact
- Oldham Athletic via 0161 624 4972 (LPF listing)
- Accessible seating
- Supporters with severe ambulatory difficulties can request seating close to exits when booking
- Accessible toilets
- Five stadium-wide reported by Level Playing Field; exact nearby away facility should be confirmed
- Westwood tram accessibility
- Metrolink stops and trams are step-free for wheelchair users; complete street route to away entrance not audited
- Accessible visiting entrance
- March 2026 supporter report describes stewarded gate beside Joe Royle Stand; confirm individual ticket/parking instructions
After the match
After the match
If you drive, expect the busiest traffic near Westhulme Way and the hospital parking exits straight after full-time. Recent users of the authorised B&Q booking have reported queuing to leave, so do not plan a tight onward appointment or connection. Follow the signed diversion rather than attempting Sheepfoot Lane while the works continue.
For a public-transport return, walk back to Westwood Metrolink and leave enough time for the tram and any connection at Manchester Victoria. From the hospital bus stops, the 409 towards Oldham town centre is another option. If you arrive on an away coach, use the collection instructions issued by your visiting club.
- Traffic experience
- Recent 2026 B&Q booked-parking reviews mention varying post-match exit queues
- Temporary post-match diversion
- Sheepfoot Lane works expected to continue until end October 2026, with road diversions affecting exits
- Tram return
- Walk back to Westwood for Metrolink towards Manchester; check live departures and onward connections
- Bus return
- 409 towards Oldham via Royal Oldham Hospital stops on Rochdale Road
Where to stay
For the simplest overnight stay close to the match, look around Westhulme Way and Boundary Park. Premier Inn Oldham Central is convenient for the stadium, although you will have a smaller choice of evening venues immediately outside than in a town centre. This suits supporters who mainly want an easy matchday and departure.
For pubs and restaurants, Oldham town centre is a more useful local base. If the night out matters as much as the football, consider central Manchester near Victoria and take Metrolink to Westwood on matchday. That adds a tram journey but gives you much more choice; check your final service for evening fixtures.
- Stay close to ground
- Premier Inn Oldham Central, beside the local Westhulme Way/hospital area
- Best public-transport overnight base
- Manchester Victoria area for Metrolink connection towards Westwood
- Oldham town-centre alternative

Boundary Park no longer has the obvious next-door pub option that appears in many older guides: Clayton Green closed to the public as a pub in July 2024. Current 2026 visiting-club guidance instead points away supporters towards a small cluster of traditional pubs around Royton and Chadderton, while a family-friendly carvery and the Elk Mill food outlets give practical meal choices. Inside the away end, recent guidance confirms standard hot food and drinks, although alcohol availability has varied by fixture. For public-transport arrivals, current visiting guidance commonly points to Westwood Metrolink before the onward journey to Boundary Park. Oldham town centre offers broader general pub choice, but current away-specific evidence for individual centre venues is thinner than for the ground-side options. Drivers have useful food choices around the A627(M)/Elk Mill side. FSW Bar 1895 is active, and an outdoor fan-zone trial was announced for 2026/27, but away access is fixture-dependent and should never be assumed.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
Toby Carvery Chadderton Park
This is the clearest food-led option. The official Toby site confirms a full carvery, breakfast, children's menu and family-friendly positioning. An MK Dons supporter reviewing the April 2026 away game reported eating here before kick-off with home fans present and described a good, family-friendly atmosphere. Grimsby Town's 2026 travelling-fan information also recommends it to away supporters.
Boundary Park outdoor fan-zone trial
Oldham Athletic Supporters Foundation reported in August 2026 that the club planned a three-game trial fan zone outside the Fan Bar, starting with the Sheffield Wednesday friendly. That is valuable current evidence that an outdoor fan-zone concept was being tested, but the research did not find reliable evidence that it became a permanent or every-match facility.
