Leonardo Hotel Plymouth
City centre / Exeter Street
The best overall choice for most supporters rather than the nearest bed to the turnstiles. Leonardo combines a straightforward rail arrival, easy access to the Barbican and city centre, a large current guest-review base and a sensible sampled price. Booking.com returned 8.4/10 from 6,715 reviews during the live checks; Tripadvisor returned 4.0/5 from 4,254 reviews.
- Official hotel information puts Plymouth station about a 10-minute walk away.
- Official Leonardo information also puts the Barbican at about a 10-minute walk, giving supporters useful post-match food and drink without staying at the waterfront itself.
Approximate supporter walking time based on the listed Home Park distance and city geography, not turn-by-turn live routing. The route heads north through the city/station side towards Central Park; a short taxi is an easy fallback.
At roughly 1.4 miles from Home Park as a market-listed distance, it is a longer walk than Copthorne; allow roughly half an hour on foot rather than treating it as a stadium hotel.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.

Copthorne Hotel Plymouth
North city centre / Armada Way
The closest practical full-service city-centre choice in this research. Booking.com's Home Park landmark page places Copthorne about 1.2 miles from the stadium, and its Armada Way position keeps rail arrival and the walk north towards Central Park relatively straightforward.
- It remains in the city centre rather than isolating supporters in a purely residential stadium area.
- The official hotel site has on-site private parking, subject to availability, which is useful for driving supporters.
Booking.com's Home Park landmark page lists Copthorne at about 1.2 miles from the stadium. The walking time is an approximate pace-based estimate rather than live turn-by-turn routing.
Rooms and bathrooms are frequently described as dated compared with newer competitors.

Crowne Plaza Plymouth by IHG
Plymouth Hoe / south city centre
The best fit when the supporter wants the match followed by a proper Plymouth evening. The hotel is on the Hoe edge, close to the Barbican/Sutton Harbour nightlife area identified by Visit Plymouth, and it has its own bar, restaurant, pool and gym. Booking.com returned 8.2/10 from 3,267 reviews and Tripadvisor 3.9/5 from 1,347.
- Strongest position of the primary choices for the Hoe, Barbican and Sutton Harbour evening.
- On-site Drakes Bar & Lounge and a penthouse restaurant give a fallback if supporters do not want to head out again.
A third-party hotel-distance listing places Home Park about 2.7 km away in a straight line, broadly 1.7 miles. The walking time is an approximate pace-based estimate; this is the least ground-convenient of the primary three.
Longest walk to Home Park of the three primary selections; a post-match taxi may appeal in poor weather.

Parking
Driving & road restrictions
Set your sat-nav for Home Park, PL2 3DQ, and follow the A38 to Manadon Roundabout. Take the A386 towards the city centre, then follow Outland Road towards the ground. If you have booked parking elsewhere, use the exact car-park address on your booking rather than driving to the stadium first.
Expect heavier traffic around Milehouse on matchdays and restrictions close to the stadium for pedestrian safety. The club says its designated event-parking locations sit outside the matchday closure area, but the precise closure times and streets can change. Check the fixture guide and approach instructions before leaving.
- Ground postcode
- PL2 3DQ
- Approach from A38
- Manadon Roundabout to A386/Outland Road towards the city centre
- Matchday controls
- Road closures near stadium for pedestrian safety; exact boundaries and times not confirmed for all fixtures
- Event parking access
- Club says designated pre-book sites are outside its matchday road closure zone
- Other venue demand
- Life Centre events can contribute to Milehouse parking and traffic pressure
Parking & park-and-ride
Try the free Milehouse Park & Ride beside Home Park only if you can arrive very early. It is the easiest parking for the stadium, but it fills rapidly on matchdays. Booking is advisable if you are travelling a long way and cannot risk searching for another space.
Milehouse is on Outland Road, PL2 3DA. Plymouth City Council confirms that public bays are free and the site opens around the clock. The 88 green bays are reserved for Argyle on matchdays, so use only a bay available to the public. The club's earlier guide reports the car park can be full by 10.30–11am before a 3pm kick-off.
Do not make free residential parking in Peverell or Milehouse your plan. We could not confirm a named, unrestricted stretch for a whole football visit. The council publishes controlled-parking zones and warns that the maps are only indicative. Check street signs, permit rules and any temporary restrictions rather than assuming a roadside space is legal.
Arriving later? George Park & Ride, PL6 7HB, and Coypool, PL7 4TB, offer free parking with dedicated football buses. The 2026/27 adult return starts at £5 from George and £6 on other dedicated routes. You can also book an authorised private or event space through JustPark; check the price, location and booking terms for your fixture.
Allow at least four hours for a normal visit, including both walks, entry and the post-match crowd. Coypool locks at 10pm, so consider your return time for evening games. Western Approach is a paid city-centre fallback, with an all-day tariff of £6.50; it means a longer walk or a local bus journey rather than parking at the ground.
- Parking verdict
- Free stadium-adjacent parking is realistic only with very early arrival; otherwise use free park-and-ride plus paid bus or book an authorised space
- Free option — Milehouse car park
- Milehouse Park & Ride, Outland Road, PL2 3DA; free 24/7 public marked bays
- Legal restrictions — Milehouse
- 88 green bays are reserved for Plymouth Argyle FC on matchdays; public users must choose available authorised bays

- Booking recommendation
- Book an authorised private/event space when arriving later or needing certainty; booking only secures what the operator terms provide
- Paid fallback — Western Approach
- Council multi-storey, Western Approach PL1 1TQ: £6.50 all day, 8am–10pm opening, locked midnight–6am
- Paid fallback — booked event parking
- The club has referred supporters to Big Parking; the booking link now routes to JustPark; current per-fixture price and availability must be checked
- Historic Big Parking price
- From £10 in club information for earlier seasons; not confirmed as a live 2026/27 tariff
- Booking guarantee — Big Parking
- Club says pre-booked designated event parking offers an allocated parking space; verify specific 2026/27 listing and terms before paying
- Retail parking recommendation
- Do not use customer-only retail or supermarket parking without express football-use permission and sufficient permitted stay; no specific nearby store is verified for football
- Total dwell time
- Allow at least four hours for standard match visit including parking, walking, pre-match arrival, 90 minutes plus half-time/stoppage and exit (editorial planning advice)
- After the match
- Milehouse and surrounding roads can be congested; George/Coypool football buses avoid needing a space beside the stadium
- Bank holidays
- George/Milehouse council sites remain free; Coypool and matchday bus times should be checked for specific bank-holiday fixture

Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Plymouth railway station is the best arrival point for Home Park. The club describes a paved walk of about 20 minutes through Central Park, including a steep uphill section. Follow the park route towards the stadium and leave extra time if you have luggage or walk slowly.
Plymouth station has lifts and step-free access to all platforms, but that does not make the walk to Home Park level. If the hill is unsuitable, use a taxi or local bus towards Alma Road or Outland Road. Check your return train before setting off, particularly for evening fixtures.
- Recommended station
- Plymouth National Rail station (PLY), North Road, PL4 6AB
- Walk from station
- Club venue guidance: approximately 15–20 minutes through Central Park; uphill section
- Station accessibility
- Step-free category A to all platforms with lifts; street-to-stadium route includes a hill
- Rail onward alternative
- Taxi or local bus towards Alma Road/Outland Road if the park walk is unsuitable
- Rail service schedule
- Check National Rail for the actual fixture date; no universal last train asserted
Station to ground & away entrance
Go to the Barn Park End, not the home turnstiles on the Mayflower side. Away tickets are normally for blocks 21–23, behind the goal. Follow signs and stewards around the outside of Home Park to the away entrance, then check the block and turnstile printed on your ticket.
From Plymouth station, the Central Park path brings you to the stadium area after an uphill walk. If you arrive by coach or park at Milehouse, allow a few more minutes to follow the perimeter to the Barn Park turnstiles. The club normally opens turnstiles about 90 minutes before kick-off.
- Visiting allocation
- Kawasaki Barn Park End, normally blocks 21–23
- Entrance instruction
- Follow ticket, away-end perimeter signs and stewards; exact turnstile number fixture-dependent
- Typical turnstile opening
- Around 90 minutes before kick-off; check fixture arrangements
- Sat-nav stadium postcode
- PL2 3DQ
- Away ticket collection
- Club historic guide places prearranged collections at the booth outside away turnstiles; confirm for fixture

Coaches
Away coaches
If you travel with an organised supporters' coach, use the drop-off and collection instructions supplied by your operator. Argyle's older coach guide describes steward-directed unloading near Home Park and collecting supporters by the away end, but that is not a confirmed arrangement for every 2026/27 match. Do not make your own way to an assumed collection point.
There is no general visiting-coach parking at the stadium in that guide. Organisers needing somewhere to leave a coach should arrange it separately with an authorised operator. Plymouth City Council identifies the Pavilions and Stagecoach depot as coach-parking options, with very limited spaces at Plymouth Coach Station.
- Coach drop-off
- Historic club guide describes steward-directed stadium drop-off; current fixture meeting place not confirmed
- Coach collection
- Confirm exact return point with operator; historic guide describes close to Barn Park away turnstiles
- General coach parking
- No general at-stadium coach parking in published club guide; organise separate layover
- City authorised coach parking
- Plymouth Pavilions and Stagecoach South West depot; limited at Plymouth Coach Station
- Plymouth Pavilions coach day parking
- £20 for 9am–6pm subject to prior arrangement
- Coach Station coach layover
- £5 per hour, maximum £25 for up to 24 hours; capacity severely limited
Buses
Buses & local travel
Use the dedicated Plymouth Citybus matchday buses if you park at George or Coypool. Both serve Home Park before and after games, and the 2026/27 returns start at £5 from George and £6 on the other dedicated routes. Parking at the park-and-ride sites is free, but the bus is not.
From central Plymouth, regular buses run from Royal Parade and Western Approach towards Alma Road or Outland Road, leaving a short walk to the stadium. Check the outward and return stops for your fixture; the dedicated matchday service is separate from ordinary bus services, and standard passes are not valid on the specials.

Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Arrange away accessibility requirements through your own ticket office and Plymouth Argyle before travelling. The Barn Park End has 28 pitch-level wheelchair places for visiting fans, but the precise position and companion seating should be confirmed when booking. Argyle's Disability Liaison Officer can be contacted at accessibility@pafc.co.uk.
Milehouse has council-designated disabled bays, while a limited number of club-controlled accessible spaces are allocated separately. Do not assume a reserved parking space is available on arrival. Plymouth station is step-free to its platforms, but the walk through Central Park climbs a hill; ask for suitable drop-off and entrance advice if that is a problem.

- Club asks supporters to contact DLO at least seven days before match
After the match
After the match
If you parked at Milehouse, return by the pedestrian routes indicated by stewards and expect queues onto Outland Road. The car park is free, but it is beside the stadium and shared with other visitors, so a quick getaway is not assured. Do not arrange an immediate taxi collection beside the ground.
If you used George or Coypool, head for the signed dedicated matchday bus stop and allow for queues. The operator's 2026/27 service includes return journeys, but check the last bus for your fixture. Rail travellers should leave enough time for the uphill route in reverse through Central Park and for station access.
- From Milehouse
- Use steward-directed pedestrian routes and allow for car park and Outland Road queues
- From park-and-ride
- Check dedicated football bus pick-up and last service for the fixture
- Coypool closing
- Car park locks at 10pm
- Return to railway station
- Central Park route approx 15–20 minutes; allow extra matchday buffer
Where to stay
Stay around Plymouth station or the northern city centre if the football journey matters most. You can walk to Home Park through Central Park, then return to a wider choice of places to eat and drink after the game. This is more useful than booking a room solely for proximity to the stadium.
Choose the Barbican or the Hoe if you are making a weekend of the trip and want the waterfront and evening out. They are farther from Home Park, so plan an additional walk, bus or taxi after the match. Check the return rail arrangements before deciding whether an overnight stay is worthwhile.
- Best football base
- Plymouth station/northern city centre for walking access to Home Park and rail
- Best night-out base
- The Barbican and Hoe waterfront, further from stadium
- Stadium neighbourhood
- Milehouse beside Central Park, rather than the main waterfront nightlife area

Plymouth station is the normal rail meeting point, with Home Park around 15–20 minutes away on foot through Central Park and the Barn Park End used for visiting supporters. The most dependable pre-match option is the Biffa Fan Zone: Plymouth explicitly opens it to home and away ticket-holders, with food, drink and live sport. The Britannia is the closest conventional pub and regularly admits away fans, but expect door control and queues; Hyde Park Social Club is a calmer alternative with a paid non-member pass. Peverell and Mutley add Roam’s beer-and-pizza taproom and Perillas for fish and chips, while city-centre arrivals can eat at Early Bird or grab an Ivor Dewdney pasty before walking up. For an overnight trip, the Barbican/Hoe area gives the best evening food and drink, including Cap’n Jaspers and Harbourside. Inside Home Park, current kiosks sell pasties, burgers and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. For the Devon derby, police/club advice overrides the general pub list and visitors are told to head straight to the stadium.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
Away concourse – Home Park
Home Park’s concourse has a better-than-token range: steak and vegetarian pasties, vegan and gluten-free choices, burgers, Devon dogs and sausage rolls. It is cashless and the simplest option once inside the Barn Park End.
Francines Plymouth
The strongest current near-ground chippy lead. Francines sits on North Prospect Road, under a mile from Home Park, with fresh-cooked fish, large portions and gluten-free choices; the catch is a short Saturday lunch window.
Perillas Fish & Chips
A better sit-down chippy option for supporters using Mutley or Peverell. Perillas is a long-running family business serving Devon-coast fish, and current listings show Saturday service through the afternoon rather than a short lunch-only window.
The Early Bird – Mayflower Street
The best early-arrival food stop near the station side of town. Early Bird serves proper brunch rather than pub food, opens from 8:30am daily and has strong vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free coverage.
Ivor Dewdney Pasties – Plymouth City Centre
For a genuinely Plymouth matchday bite, an Ivor Dewdney pasty is the obvious local choice. The city-centre shop sells the firm’s hand-crimped traditional, pepper, cheese-and-onion and vegan vegetable pasties.
Cap'n Jaspers
For supporters staying around the Barbican, Cap’n Jaspers is the characterful local breakfast-and-burger stop rather than another chain. It opens early, handles groups and sits directly on the waterfront.
Harbourside Fish & Chips
The best-supported fish-and-chip choice for an overnight Barbican stay: restaurant or takeaway, local seafood, children’s options and long Saturday opening. It is for making a day of Plymouth, not rushing to the turnstiles.
