FOLLOW SALFORD CITY TO BRISTOL ROVERS

Recent results give Salford City fifteen points from a possible fifteen, with five wins in their last five league games. Over their last five recorded league games, Bristol Rovers have taken three points from a possible fifteen: one win and four defeats.

Salford City are 1st in League Two after 12 league games, with 25 points. The pre-season outlook had them down as promotion favourites. Salford City are in the automatic promotion places. Staying there would avoid the play-offs, so keeping points coming on the road matters.

Bristol Rovers are 16th in League Two after 12 league games, with 15 points. They started the campaign regarded as promotion favourites. They have ground to make up on that early ambition. Bristol Rovers are two points off 7th and the last play-off place. That is a gap to work on, not a reason to assume a place is already within reach.

The destination is Memorial Stadium in Bristol. Work back from kick-off when deciding whether this is a day trip or a night away. Choose Horfield if walking to the turnstiles matters more than the evening. Choose the northern city-centre/Cabot Circus side for the best balance of hotel quality, price and a relatively direct run north to the stadium. Choose the Old City/Harbourside if the post-match evening is the priority: it has the strongest concentration of pubs, bars and restaurants, but you should plan on public transport or a taxi rather than walking back from the ground.

For Salford City supporters, the point of the trip is being there for the team. Once tickets and kick-off are confirmed, work out whether the journey home leaves time for a meal or a drink, or whether a night away makes the better day of it.

Moxy Bristol

Moxy Bristol

Newfoundland Street / Cabot Circus, northern edge of Bristol city centre

The best balance for a Bristol Rovers overnight trip. Moxy is far enough into town to give you a proper choice of food, pubs and a city evening, but it sits on the northern side of the centre rather than down on the Harbourside, which makes the trip to and from Horfield less awkward.

  • Northern city-centre position gives a better stadium/evening compromise than the Harbourside.
  • Cabot Circus, Stokes Croft and central Bristol food/drink options are accessible without basing yourself in Horfield.
The match journey

Approximately 1.8 miles straight-line from the Memorial Stadium using verified property/stadium coordinates; this is not a routed walking distance. Use the frequent northbound bus network or a taxi for matchday rather than treating it as a stadium walk.

The trade-off

Not realistically a walk-to-the-turnstiles choice for most supporters; bus or taxi is the sensible matchday plan.

WHY STAY HERE?

Moxy Bristol

Newfoundland Street / Cabot Circus, northern edge of Bristol city centre

Our view

The best balance for a Bristol Rovers overnight trip. Moxy is far enough into town to give you a proper choice of food, pubs and a city evening, but it sits on the northern side of the centre rather than down on the Harbourside, which makes the trip to and from Horfield less awkward. Its current Booking.com score is strong, cleanliness and comfort scores are particularly good, and the sampled Friday rates were notably competitive. It is not a walk-to-the-ground hotel, so anyone who wants to leave the room and be at the turnstiles in minutes should choose The Wellington instead.

Why it suits this trip

  • Northern city-centre position gives a better stadium/evening compromise than the Harbourside.
  • Verified on Booking.com and returned as bookable on all six sampled baseline dates.
  • Booking.com currently shows a strong overall guest score with particularly high cleanliness, comfort and staff scores.
  • Cabot Circus, Stokes Croft and central Bristol food/drink options are accessible without basing yourself in Horfield.
  • Sampled Friday prices were materially lower than the hotel's sampled midweek average.

Getting to the ground

Approximately 1.8 miles straight-line from the Memorial Stadium using verified property/stadium coordinates; this is not a routed walking distance. Use the frequent northbound bus network or a taxi for matchday rather than treating it as a stadium walk.

Pubs and the evening

Good for a city evening and closer to the northern nightlife/food corridor than Harbourside hotels. For the densest Old City, King Street and waterfront pub/bar choice, The Bristol Hotel is better placed.

Arriving by train

Temple Meads is the main inter-city rail hub. For matchday, supporters can also use the rail connection to Ashley Down and continue on foot to the stadium, or use buses/taxis from the centre.

The trade-offs

  • Not realistically a walk-to-the-turnstiles choice for most supporters; bus or taxi is the sensible matchday plan.
  • It is not as well placed for King Street/Harbourside nightlife as The Bristol Hotel.
  • Recent review themes include compact bathrooms/rooms, occasional noise or temperature/technology issues and some complaints about bar/breakfast pricing.
  • A sampled Bristol Rovers home-match Saturday was much dearer than the normal sampled Friday baseline.

Research price context

Highly variable in this sample: roughly £100–£145 midweek, while the three sampled Fridays were about £80–£100. The Friday sample was cheaper than the midweek sample rather than carrying a weekend premium.

The Wellington

The Wellington

Horfield / Gloucester Road

The clear choice if the main requirement is to stay genuinely close to the Memorial Stadium. Booking.com describes it as a five-minute walk from the ground, and its current accommodation scores are solid. It is a small pub-with-rooms rather than a full city hotel, which is part of the appeal on a football trip: you can check in, have a drink and walk to the match. The compromise is the evening.

  • On-site pub and restaurant make it practical for a one-night football stay.
  • Only ten ensuite rooms, giving it a smaller local feel than the city-centre chains.
The match journey

Booking.com explicitly describes the property as a five-minute walk from the Memorial Stadium. The coordinate-to-coordinate straight-line distance is about 0.2 miles.

The trade-off

Small room inventory means availability can tighten quickly around busy dates.

WHY STAY HERE?

The Wellington

Horfield / Gloucester Road

Our view

The clear choice if the main requirement is to stay genuinely close to the Memorial Stadium. Booking.com describes it as a five-minute walk from the ground, and its current accommodation scores are solid. It is a small pub-with-rooms rather than a full city hotel, which is part of the appeal on a football trip: you can check in, have a drink and walk to the match. The compromise is the evening. Gloucester Road has plenty of local character, but this is not the same overnight experience as staying around the Old City or Harbourside.

Why it suits this trip

  • Booking.com states it is about a five-minute walk from the Memorial Stadium.
  • On-site pub and restaurant make it practical for a one-night football stay.
  • Only ten ensuite rooms, giving it a smaller local feel than the city-centre chains.
  • Current accommodation reviews repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfort and staff.
  • Frequent buses on the Gloucester Road/Filton Avenue corridor provide a straightforward route into central Bristol.

Getting to the ground

Booking.com explicitly describes the property as a five-minute walk from the Memorial Stadium. The coordinate-to-coordinate straight-line distance is about 0.2 miles.

Pubs and the evening

Useful local pubs and food, with further options down Gloucester Road, but not the city's main late-night cluster. A bus or taxi is needed if you want the Old City, King Street or Harbourside after the match.

Arriving by train

Bristol Rovers identifies Ashley Down as the nearest station to the Memorial Stadium, about a 20-minute walk from the ground, with services from Temple Meads and Gloucester. The Wellington is very close to the ground itself.

The trade-offs

  • Small room inventory means availability can tighten quickly around busy dates.
  • Horfield is weaker than the Old City/Harbourside for a full post-match night out.
  • Recent feedback includes minor room-lighting/decor complaints and mixed restaurant-service feedback.
  • As a pub with rooms, matchday food/bar operation can be busy and the experience is less predictable than a full-service hotel.

Research price context

Typically around £115–£140 midweek in this sample, rising to roughly £135–£155 on the sampled Fridays. The observed Friday premium was modest rather than extreme.

The Bristol Hotel

The Bristol Hotel

Harbourside / Old City

The strongest choice when the match is only part of the overnight trip. The hotel sits on the Harbourside beside the Old City, with King Street, Welsh Back, waterfront bars and a large restaurant choice close by. Its location scores are excellent and current review evidence is generally strong.

  • Immediate access to Harbourside, Old City, King Street and Welsh Back food/drink.
  • Large, established full-service hotel with 24-hour reception and on-site bar/restaurant.
The match journey

Approximately 2.6 miles straight-line from the Memorial Stadium using verified coordinates; routed distance will be longer. It is a city-evening choice, not a stadium-area hotel. Use public transport or taxi.

The trade-off

Much farther from the Memorial Stadium than The Wellington or Moxy; use bus/taxi rather than planning to walk.

WHY STAY HERE?

The Bristol Hotel

Harbourside / Old City

Our view

The strongest choice when the match is only part of the overnight trip. The hotel sits on the Harbourside beside the Old City, with King Street, Welsh Back, waterfront bars and a large restaurant choice close by. Its location scores are excellent and current review evidence is generally strong. The football trade-off is substantial: this is the least stadium-convenient of the three primary picks, so you should budget for the journey north to Horfield and back. There is also a genuine current noise caveat from some rooms because recent 2026 reviews report late-night music from a venue across the water.

Why it suits this trip

  • Immediate access to Harbourside, Old City, King Street and Welsh Back food/drink.
  • Booking.com verified and strongly rated for location, cleanliness and comfort.
  • Large, established full-service hotel with 24-hour reception and on-site bar/restaurant.
  • Current tourism sources place it directly in one of Bristol's strongest nightlife and dining areas.
  • Good choice for supporters turning the fixture into a full Bristol night out.

Getting to the ground

Approximately 2.6 miles straight-line from the Memorial Stadium using verified coordinates; routed distance will be longer. It is a city-evening choice, not a stadium-area hotel. Use public transport or taxi.

Pubs and the evening

This is the main reason to choose the hotel. Visit Bristol identifies King Street/Welsh Back as a core craft-beer area and the Harbourside as a major concentration of bars and restaurants.

Arriving by train

Temple Meads is the main rail arrival point. From the hotel, plan a separate bus/taxi leg north to the Memorial Stadium rather than treating the hotel as part of the stadium rail route.

The trade-offs

  • Much farther from the Memorial Stadium than The Wellington or Moxy; use bus/taxi rather than planning to walk.
  • Recent 2026 reviews include reports of significant late-night external music/noise from across the water.
  • Some bedrooms/bathrooms are described as dated or compact.
  • Busy breakfast service is a recurring complaint in some 2026 reviews.
  • Adjacent parking is chargeable; recent review/official evidence puts the hotel guest rate around £19 per night, subject to change.

Research price context

About £115–£165 midweek in the three-date sample and roughly £120–£135 on the sampled Fridays. The Friday sample was slightly cheaper than the midweek sample, so there was no normal weekend premium in the dates checked.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Memorial Stadium

The ground

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

A compact, developed-in-pieces ground among Horfield streets, with terraces and stands from different phases rather than one architectural language. The atmosphere can feel unusually close to the pitch and team, but the same old-school character also brings uneven sightlines, weather exposure and facilities that should not be romanticised.

Recorded capacity
20,000

Views from the away section

The away experience varies sharply by section. From the Poplar Terrace the pitch feels close and the overall view is decent, but supporting pillars and the older roof structure can cut across individual sightlines; the seated South Stand offers a different, more conventional angle and is the better fallback in poor weather.

Supporter observation

Recent Gillingham visitors reported that seat position matters in the new away setup: the corner allocation was viewed less favourably than seats closer to the middle behind the goal.

Why the ground matters

The Memorial Stadium matters because Rovers' return there in 1996 ended a decade outside Bristol, but it is not a blank-slate football stadium. The club moved into a 1921 rugby memorial and then made it its own. That layered history — war memorial, rugby home, football home, terraces, later additions and repeated redevelopment debate — is the point.

Stand features

Grade II listed 1921 gateway with First and Second World War memorial inscriptions.

Supporter interpretation

Standing terraces remain part of the ground's character, including areas used by home and visiting supporters; allocation is fixture-dependent.

A home-end terrace whose closeness to the action was memorably illustrated when Steve Evans watched the closing stages from among supporters in April 2026.

Supporter interpretation

The stadium has been altered in phases rather than rebuilt as a single bowl, including older clubhouse/terrace structures and newer stand work.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Memorial Stadium

Atmosphere & acoustics

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

This is a compact, irregular old-school ground rather than a uniform bowl. A full visiting terrace can feel lively because supporters are packed close to the pitch, and current ground-guide material explicitly describes the away setup as compact and energetic; the atmosphere can feel very different if your allocation is split between terrace and seats.

From the supporters

Supporter observation

Current Walsall visiting-supporter material emphasises the old-school standing layout and its ability to support away noise.

Goodnight Irene

The central Rovers anthem. The club dates its adoption to around 1950 and a Plymouth Argyle match, while source accounts differ on the precise mechanics of how it began.

Tote End Boys

A supporter-written song by Ben Gunstone that deliberately keeps the ghosts of Eastville and the memory of Twerton present at the Memorial Stadium.

Annual Remembrance service at the Memorial Gates

A ritual inherited from the site's rugby history and continued with football, rugby, supporters and community organisations present.

Irene as a matchday closing identity

The anthem is not a museum piece: it remains an active matchday identifier and has even lent its name to a mascot.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Memorial Stadium

Food & drink

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

The Mem is not an isolated ground: Gloucester Road beside Horfield gives supporters a useful cluster of pubs, cafés and takeaways, while the stadium itself now has a substantial Fanzone plus a dedicated away bar and hot-food kiosk. The main caveat for visiting fans is pub door policy.

Food and drink around the ground

Recent visiting-club guidance repeatedly names several Gloucester Road and Bishopston pubs, but one 2026 guide warns that some listed venues may require colours to be covered or may not admit children, and past reports show restrictions can change for particular fixtures. Check fixture-specific guidance for higher-risk games.

For rail arrivals, Bristol Rovers says Ashley Down is the nearest station, around a 20-minute walk, with services from Bristol Temple Meads; that makes the BS7/Gloucester Road area a practical pre-match base. Central Bristol has much wider choice if you arrive early, but it is substantially farther from the stadium. Drivers should not rely on stadium or nearby residential parking.

Families have the clearest official option in the Fanzone, while away supporters have a dedicated in-ground fallback for drinks and hot food.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Accessibility

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

Contact Bristol Rovers' Disability Access Officer before booking accessible parking or wheelchair seating. The club reports six places for visiting wheelchair users and a small number of accessible parking bays, but availability changes by fixture. Arrange both through Clare McDonagh rather than arriving in the hope of an on-site space. Ashley Down has lifts linking its platforms, but check their status and the onward walk before travelling.

Accessible journeys

Bristol Temple Meads offers step-free access to its platforms, while Filton Abbey Wood has steeper-than-standard ramps. For a closer drop-off, ask the club to confirm the Filton Avenue entrance and your accessible route to the assigned stand.

Before the match

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

Use Ashley Down for the shortest railway walk to the Memorial Stadium. Bristol Rovers puts it about 20 minutes from the ground, with trains from Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester. Leave the station towards Muller Road, then head towards Filton Avenue and follow the away entrance signs. Bristol Temple Meads is the better place to arrive from farther afield, with a local-train connection to Ashley Down or buses towards Horfield.

Pre-match choices

Gloucester Road has one of the better independent food/pub strips close to an EFL ground; venue policies still need fixture checks.

The pre-match experience

Supporter observation

The February 2026 Walsall thread identifies The Crafty Cow as a family pub that may admit small numbers of well-behaved away supporters and also warns about wet-weather exposure.

Pub admission, fan-zone, food and family arrangements can vary by fixture. Check current host-club or venue information where it affects your plans.

Supporter observation

Gillingham visitors recommended the Drapers Arms as part of their Bristol Rovers away-day plan; pub policy and opening should be checked for the fixture.

Pub admission, fan-zone, food and family arrangements can vary by fixture. Check current host-club or venue information where it affects your plans.

Planning your arrival

From Ashley Down, leave towards Muller Road and continue towards Filton Avenue, using the stadium signs and stewards for the last stretch. If you arrive by bus, the Memorial Stadium stops on Filton Avenue bring you close to the main access. Allow extra time for the separate away queue.

Parking

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

Book a legitimate off-street space for Bristol Rovers rather than relying on free parking in the streets beside the Memorial Stadium. The club provides no general matchday car parking and specifically refuses to recommend surrounding residential roads. Horfield Common is not a car park, and yellow lines must be respected. The clearest option is the bookable Tesco Superstore parking at Lime Trees Road, BS6 7XW, through YourParkingSpace.

Parking & park-and-ride

It is advertised for longer stays with 24-hour access and is about a 15-minute walk from the stadium. Choose the full matchday period when booking, check the confirmation and allow for the walk to the visiting turnstiles. Older away guides mention Muller Road, Gloucester Road and roads beyond the Wellington along Kellaway Avenue. We could not confirm legally unrestricted bays on named sections of those roads, so do not treat them as guaranteed free parking.

Some fans report finding roadside spaces, but the club warns that nearby streets fill up and many have yellow lines. If Tesco is fully booked, try a verified private driveway through a fixture-specific JustPark booking. The club also identifies the pay-and-display car park at 154 Filton Road, BS7 0PG, around 25 minutes on foot. Confirm its tariff and opening arrangements before relying on it.

Allow at least four to five hours for a normal match visit, more if you plan to eat beforehand. Ordinary supermarket customer parking is not permission to leave a car for football: use only the separately authorised booking and don't assume a short free-shopping limit is enough. For a lower-stress fallback, park in a legitimate city-centre car park and take a bus.

Parking verdict
Booking advisable; no legally verified named free street bay can be recommended for ordinary matchday visitors
Legal restrictions — local streets
Club says double-yellow lines cover much of immediate area; specific lawful roadside sections not verified
Free option — Muller Road

Park & Ride alternative — Parkway North
£2.60 minimum parking charge, open 24/7, 210 spaces; current operator services do not confirm club's old direct 71-bus suggestion
Booking recommendation
Book a match-specific off-street space before travel; allow enough time for the entire football visit
Supermarket permission/time limit
Separate Tesco Golden Hill longer-stay parking is authorised via YourParkingSpace; ordinary shopper maximum and football permission unverified
Total dwell time
Allow around four to five hours for pre-match arrival, two walks, match including interval and stoppages, and dispersal
After the match
Residential routes and Filton Avenue/Gloucester Road can be busy; an authorised booked location avoids hunting for a space but cannot guarantee fast exit
Weekend/bank-holiday street exemption
Do not assume all nearby streets become unrestricted on Sundays or bank holidays; inspect signed controls on each bay

Driving & road restrictions

Set your sat-nav to the car park you've actually booked, not the Memorial Stadium itself. The ground is on Filton Avenue, BS7 0BF, between Gloucester Road and Muller Road. Visitors arriving via the M32 or A38 should follow the operator's directions and avoid driving into the surrounding residential roads to look for a spare bay. Bristol's Clean Air Zone affects some routes through the centre and costs £9 a day for a non-compliant car.

The stadium is outside the central shopping district, but check the route and your registration rather than assuming you will miss the zone. A proposed restriction on Beaufort Road and Filton Avenue was still at consultation stage in October 2026, not a confirmed active closure.

Comfort & weather

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

The forecast loads when you open this topic. Comfort and shelter guidance is below.

Comfort depends on the ticket you get: the terrace is the more traditional standing-style experience, while South Stand seating provides a more sheltered option. Facilities are functional rather than uniform across this heavily evolved ground, so weather protection and sightlines can differ markedly between away sections.

Shelter and exposure

The Memorial Stadium still gives visiting supporters a notably old-school experience: the Poplar Terrace is an open standing section, so weather protection is limited and the feel is very different from a modern all-seater away end.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

YOUR AWAY DAY · Memorial Stadium

Worth knowing

Salford City at Bristol Rovers

The most interesting thing for a visitor is that Rovers' current ground makes little sense without the two lost homes behind it. The 'Gas' name comes from Eastville; a decade at Twerton explains the emotional value of returning to Bristol; and the Mem itself began as somebody else's war-memorial ground. A visitor who notices those layers will understand much more than one who sees only a lower-league stadium.

Matchday features

Six away wheelchair positions. Terrace-and-seating mix. WWI memorial heritage. Gloucester Road pre-match strip

Bags and entry

Check current stadium policy.

A detail worth noticing

They explain the name 'Memorial Stadium' and reveal that the site's central act of remembrance predates Rovers' tenancy by 75 years.

Supporter interpretation

The ground sits inside Horfield rather than in an out-of-town stadium campus, helping explain both its intimacy and redevelopment constraints.

Supporter interpretation

Different terraces and stands record separate phases of development; the patchwork is history made visible rather than a deliberate architectural concept.

'Tote End Boys' has been used as supporters file out, turning the exit from the current ground into a reminder of old ones.

The ground was built for Bristol Rugby and dedicated to local rugby men killed in the First World War; Rovers arrived in 1996 and eventually became sole sporting occupants.

The Mem's emotional meaning comes from what preceded it: losing Eastville and spending ten seasons in Bath made simply being back in Bristol significant.

The failed 2010s relocation plan is part of the current ground's story because it explains why redevelopment-versus-relocation has been a recurring subject rather than a recent invention.

Matchday arrangements can change. Check current club guidance and your ticket before travelling.

Supporter insights combine the site's existing official guidance, supporter-oriented research and fixture checks.

The stadium is outside the central shopping district, but check the route and your registration rather than assuming you will miss the zone. A proposed restriction on Beaufort Road and Filton Avenue was still at consultation stage in October 2026, not a confirmed active closure.

Parking & park-and-ride

Book a legitimate off-street space for Bristol Rovers rather than relying on free parking in the streets beside the Memorial Stadium. The club provides no general matchday car parking and specifically refuses to recommend surrounding residential roads. Horfield Common is not a car park, and yellow lines must be respected.

The clearest option is the bookable Tesco Superstore parking at Lime Trees Road, BS6 7XW, through YourParkingSpace.

Older away guide reports parking on Muller Road but does not identify lawful unrestricted sections
Free option — Gloucester Road
Older away guide reports parking on Gloucester Road but legal bay sections and maximum stay unverified
Free option — Kellaway Avenue vicinity
Older guide mentions side streets beyond the Wellington; no verified named unrestricted sides or sections
Legal restrictions — Horfield Common
Parking on any part of Horfield Common is prohibited; do not use grass or common land
Matchday availability — residential streets
Club advises surrounding residential streets become extremely congested on matchdays
Best paid option — Tesco Lime Trees Road
Tesco Superstore/Golden Hill Sports Pavilion, Lime Trees Road BS6 7XW, separately bookable through YourParkingSpace
Walk — Tesco booked parking
About 15 minutes to stadium according to Rovers; extra time may be needed to assigned away gate
Tesco booking hours and conditions
YourParkingSpace listing advertises 24-hour access seven days a week, overnight permitted; bank-holiday access may differ
Tesco booking guarantee
Operator issues immediate booking confirmation; an individually numbered or physically reserved bay is not established
Paid fallback — Filton Road Car Park
154 Filton Road BS7 0PG, pay-and-display; approximately 25 minutes to stadium according to club
Paid fallback — booked private driveway
JustPark offers event-specific advance bookings for Rovers fixtures; available spaces and cost vary
Paid fallback — city centre
NCP St James Barton, Rupert Street, Nelson Street and Broadmead; bus onward or club estimates 45–60 minute walk

Trains

Rail, Underground & tram

Use Ashley Down for the shortest railway walk to the Memorial Stadium. Bristol Rovers puts it about 20 minutes from the ground, with trains from Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester. Leave the station towards Muller Road, then head towards Filton Avenue and follow the away entrance signs.

Bristol Temple Meads is the better place to arrive from farther afield, with a local-train connection to Ashley Down or buses towards Horfield. Filton Abbey Wood and Montpelier are alternatives, but neither is as direct for the away turnstiles. Check the last return train before an evening match.

Station to ground & away entrance

Follow your ticket to the visiting section off Filton Avenue. Rovers can house visiting fans in the covered South Stand, with additional standing tickets on the Poplar Terrace for some matches. Older ground guidance identifies turnstiles 27–29 for South Stand seating and 24–26 for the terrace, but use the entrance printed on your current ticket.

From Ashley Down, leave towards Muller Road and continue towards Filton Avenue, using the stadium signs and stewards for the last stretch. If you arrive by bus, the Memorial Stadium stops on Filton Avenue bring you close to the main access. Allow extra time for the separate away queue.

Coaches

Away coaches

If you're on an official visiting supporters' coach, use the unloading arrangements supplied by your club rather than choosing a roadside stop yourself. Bristol Rovers reserves stadium vehicle access for home and away coaches, although the exact visiting-coach arrival and collection position is set for each fixture. Check it with the driver before leaving the coach.

The stadium is accessed from Filton Avenue, close to the South Stand and away entrance. Leave time after full-time to reach the coach and for the driver to get through local traffic. Bristol's central coach park is not an approved replacement for an away football coach allocation.

Buses

Buses & local travel

Use a bus to Filton Avenue if you are coming from central Bristol rather than walking all the way from Temple Meads. The stadium stops are close to the entrance, with current First Bus timetables showing services 70, 72 and 74 in the area. Choose your boarding stop using the operator's live journey planner, because central Bristol stop locations and routes have changed in 2026.

Buses along Gloucester Road provide another useful approach, followed by a short walk into Filton Avenue. For the return, find the correct direction of travel before kick-off and allow for crowded services. There is no confirmed dedicated stadium shuttle or tram service.

Accessibility

Accessible journeys

Contact Bristol Rovers' Disability Access Officer before booking accessible parking or wheelchair seating. The club reports six places for visiting wheelchair users and a small number of accessible parking bays, but availability changes by fixture. Arrange both through Clare McDonagh rather than arriving in the hope of an on-site space.

Ashley Down has lifts linking its platforms, but check their status and the onward walk before travelling. Bristol Temple Meads offers step-free access to its platforms, while Filton Abbey Wood has steeper-than-standard ramps. For a closer drop-off, ask the club to confirm the Filton Avenue entrance and your accessible route to the assigned stand.

After the match

After the match

If you have driven, expect the first few minutes after full-time to be slow around Filton Avenue and the Gloucester Road junction. Return to your booked space by the same pedestrian route and give the crowds time to disperse. Parking farther from the ground can reduce how much stadium-side traffic you need to join, but it does not guarantee a clear run home.

For trains, Ashley Down is the nearest return station and Bristol Temple Meads is the main connection point. If you are using a bus, check the stop on the correct side of Filton Avenue or Gloucester Road before the game. Allow time for full buses and any disruption, particularly after evening kick-offs.

Where to stay

Stay around the northern city centre, Cabot Circus or Stokes Croft if you want a proper Bristol evening as well as the football. You can travel north to the Memorial Stadium by bus, with more restaurants, pubs and hotel choice waiting when you get back. That is generally easier for a long-distance arrival at Bristol Temple Meads than finding accommodation right beside the ground.

Horfield and Gloucester Road suit a football-first visit if walking to the turnstiles matters most. The Wellington area offers local pubs and food, but there are fewer conventional hotels than in central Bristol. The Old City and Harbourside offer the widest night-out choices, at the cost of a longer return from the stadium.
