The Captain Cook
Dawes Road / Munster Road, Fulham
The best overall football-stay balance found in this research: a proper Fulham pub with rooms, a genuinely walkable Craven Cottage location and materially lower sampled prices than the boutique competitors. It feels suited to a match trip rather than a generic London hotel stay, while current review evidence is strong enough to recommend it with clear caveats.
- Craven Cottage is listed at roughly 1.1 km / 13 minutes walk by a major hotel platform.
- The pub downstairs gives supporters food and drinks without having to travel again after checking in.
Published hotel-location evidence lists Craven Cottage at about 1.1 km / 13 minutes walk.
It is an old pub building with narrow stairs and no lift; this is a real accessibility/luggage drawback.
Compare live rates and room options for your dates.

Fulham Pier Hotel
Craven Cottage / Fulham Pier
The closest possible stay: the hotel is within the Craven Cottage/Fulham Pier complex itself. For a supporter who values proximity above cost it is unmatched, and current room/service feedback is exceptionally strong. It is not the overall pick because sampled rates are premium and, crucially, recent match-day evidence shows that access to some of the pier's wider facilities can be restricted on match days.
- Craven Cottage is effectively on the doorstep; major hotel-location data lists the stadium at about 0.1 km / 1 minute.
- Current Booking.com and Tripadvisor feedback is exceptionally strong for room quality, cleanliness and service.
Located within the Craven Cottage/Fulham Pier complex; external hotel data lists the stadium at about 0.1 km / 1 minute.
This is a premium stay: representative sampled nights were mostly in the £300s and £400s.

Aragon House
Parsons Green, Fulham
The strongest local 'make a night of it' choice. Aragon House is a polished pub, restaurant and boutique hotel directly on Parsons Green, with the District line close by and Craven Cottage still walkable. It costs substantially more than The Captain Cook, but the area and the hotel itself give a better food-and-drinks evening without having to head into central London.
- Directly on Parsons Green with a substantial bar/restaurant offer in the property itself.
- Official site confirms the Underground is a short walk away.
Booking.com landmark evidence places the hotel around 0.9 mile from Craven Cottage; 20 minutes is an approximate walking allowance rather than a provider-published route time.
It is an upper-mid boutique price rather than a budget football room.

Travel & parking

Choose a topic for the full journey advice.
Parking
Driving & road restrictions
If driving, set your sat-nav for an authorised parking site rather than Craven Cottage itself. The stadium address is Stevenage Road, SW6 6HH, but matchday restrictions control the surrounding streets and there is no ordinary visiting-supporter parking at the ground. The quickest car approach on a map may not be open to you on the day.
Parking on Bishop’s Avenue falls in controlled Zone Y, while Zones X and Y impose special matchday visitor limits. Avoid driving through residential access restrictions without permission, and follow temporary signs and steward directions. If you want to leave by car promptly afterwards, park well outside the stadium neighbourhood and travel in by public transport.
- Stadium sat-nav location
- Stevenage Road, London SW6 6HH; not a general matchday parking destination
- Matchday road controls
- Traffic Management Order restricts access to surrounding streets on matchdays
- Zone Y named road
- Bishop’s Avenue has metered bays within CPZ Y and additional Fulham matchday restrictions
- South Fulham camera restrictions
- Burnley guide warns of resident/authorised access cameras west of Wandsworth Bridge Road; check route before driving
Parking & park-and-ride
Do not plan on free street parking beside Craven Cottage. The surrounding residential streets are heavily controlled, and matchday rules in Zones X and Y reduce ordinary paid visitor parking to a one-hour stay between 9am and 9.30pm. Those rules also cover Sunday games and bank holidays, so a normal weekend parking assumption could earn you a ticket.
For an afternoon kick-off, Putney Exchange car park on Lacy Road is a straightforward paid choice. Allow around 25–35 minutes to cross Putney Bridge and walk through Bishop’s Park to the away entrance. The published tariff is £8 for four to six hours, but the car park closes at 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Parking is first come, first served rather than an allocated reservation.
Some supporters report finding free or cheap spaces farther out around Hammersmith and Putney. We could not confirm an individual unrestricted stretch with reliable matchday access and a legal stay long enough for the match. Do not treat those reports as permission to park.
For an evening fixture, a pre-booked, authorised private driveway with suitable access hours is a better alternative. Westfield London at White City also offers a large paid car park with 24-hour exits, although you must allow for the Tube or bus journey back to the ground.
Allow at least five hours for the whole visit, more if you are meeting friends or expect delays. Putney Exchange’s Waitrose discount is only one hour with a qualifying purchase and does not cover the football. Check your booked space’s terms, your return route and any matchday restrictions before setting off.
- Parking verdict
- Free on-street parking near Craven Cottage cannot be responsibly recommended; use rail or authorised paid parking
- Legal restrictions — Zones X and Y
- On Fulham home matchdays, ordinary pay-and-display visitors limited to 1 hour, 9am–9.30pm, Monday–Sunday including bank holidays
- Legal restrictions — Bishop’s Avenue
- Metered street parking is Zone Y; additional Fulham matchday restrictions apply
- Legal restrictions — Zone H farther out
- September 2026 council notice proposed extending Zone H controls to all days 08:30–22:00; introduction date/current street signage requires confirmation
- Matchday availability — residential streets
- Anecdotal reports suggest competition and occasional spaces; no specific named section could be verified legally unrestricted for the full match
- Walk — Putney Exchange
- Allow roughly 25–35 minutes to the Putney End via Putney Bridge and Bishop’s Park; planning estimate, not an operator-verified away-gate walking time
- Arrive by — area
- Aim to be at the stadium 45–60 minutes before kick-off; allow at least five hours total car-park dwell including return walk
- Paid fallback — Putney Exchange
- Lacy Road SW15 1NH. £8 for 4–6 hours; £12 beyond 6 hours. Monday–Friday 06:00–22:00; weekends 08:00–20:00; no overnight; unreserved public spaces
- Paid fallback — Westfield London
- Ariel Way W12 7GF; exit 24/7; 4–6 hours £9.50 weekday/£11.50 weekend or bank holiday, plus public transport to stadium
- Paid fallback — private driveway
- Reserve a specifically authorised, accessible private parking space through a booking platform; prices and availability vary by date and listing
- Booking recommendation
- Pre-book an authorised private space if driving for a late fixture or needing certainty; ordinary multi-storey parking does not promise an allocated bay
- Supermarket permission/time limit
- Putney Exchange Waitrose: 1 hour free only for customers spending £20 or more with validation; not enough for football stay
- Total dwell time
- Allow at least 5 hours for arrival, two walks, 90-minute match plus interval/stoppages, safety queues and departure; more for cup extra-time or pre-match pubs
- After the match
- Walk back to Putney Bridge or Putney Exchange as appropriate; car-park closing time is critical; nearby traffic management makes driving close to stadium poor choice
- General stadium parking
- No ordinary visiting or general supporter car parking at the stadium; very limited advance accessible arrangements only

Trains
Rail, Underground & tram
Use Putney Bridge on the District line for Craven Cottage. It is around 15 minutes on foot to the visiting entrance, and the riverside route through Bishop’s Park is simpler than changing again for a bus. Check TfL for engineering works, particularly on Sundays, before setting off.
If you arrive at Waterloo or Clapham Junction, South Western Railway to Putney is a sound alternative. Allow roughly 20–30 minutes to walk north over Putney Bridge and on to the Putney End. Hammersmith is useful for travellers needing other Underground lines, but it leaves a longer walk or a bus journey. There is no National Rail station at the stadium.
- Recommended station
- Putney Bridge Underground (District line), approximately 10–20 minutes to Craven Cottage
- Mainline rail alternative
- Putney station (South Western Railway) via Waterloo or Clapham Junction; approximately 17–35 minutes walking
- Hammersmith alternative
- Hammersmith is approximately 20–40 minutes on foot, with District, Piccadilly, Circle and Hammersmith & City connections
- Sunday and evening train service
- Check live TfL and National Rail journey planners; disruptions described for individual 2026 fixtures are not permanent
- Underground step-free status
- Do not assume Putney Bridge is step-free; Hammersmith Hammersmith & City/Circle has identified platform-to-exit step-free access, subject to route confirmation
Station to ground & away entrance
From Putney Bridge station, turn left onto Ranelagh Gardens and follow the underpass into Bishop’s Park. Keep to the riverside path towards Craven Cottage, then follow the signs round to the Putney End entrances on Stevenage Road. The walk is pleasant, but leave extra time if you are meeting friends or arriving with the main crowd.
Visiting supporters use the Putney End, with the entrance nearest Bishop’s Park. Your ticket and matchday stewards determine which Stevenage Road turnstile to use; recent visiting-club guidance describes turnstiles 1–17. Ask a steward rather than joining a queue for a different stand.

- Putney End, approached from the Bishop’s Park end of Stevenage Road
- Visiting turnstiles
- Recent visiting club guidance identifies Stevenage Road turnstiles 1–17; check ticket and steward signage for actual allocation

Coaches
Away coaches
If you are travelling on an organised away coach, use the instructions sent by your own club or coach organiser. Fulham’s access statement names Bishop’s Park Road for visiting coaches, while a more recent visiting-club guide also refers to coaches parked on Fulham Palace Road. The exact drop-off and collection arrangements therefore need checking for your fixture.
Once dropped off, follow the stewarded approach towards Bishop’s Park and the Putney End on Stevenage Road. Keep the coach operator’s collection location and departure time handy. After the game, do not assume your coach will wait in the same spot as your arrival.
- Coach arrival area
- Fulham FC access statement specifies Bishop’s Park Road, around 0.3 miles from away entrance
- Other coach guidance
- Burnley visiting supporters guide March 2026 refers to coaches parked on Fulham Palace Road
- Operator check
- Away coach passengers should confirm fixture-specific drop-off, allocated road, and collection point with their organiser
Buses
Buses & local travel
Use the District line to Putney Bridge if you can walk from the station. From Hammersmith, the 220 bus runs along Fulham Palace Road, leaving a shorter walk towards Bishop’s Park and the Putney End. If you start in Putney, the 74, 220 and 424 are other services to consider; check your actual stop and direction with TfL.
For a Saturday afternoon match, walking can be more predictable than waiting on a bus near the ground. After full-time, roads and pavements are busy, so give yourself more time to reconnect with the District line or a mainline train. Bus diversions and frequencies are fixture-dependent.

Accessibility
Accessible journeys
Arrange accessible parking directly with Fulham before travelling, rather than expecting to find a Blue Badge bay outside the away end. Recent visiting-club guidance places limited pre-booked spaces at Fulham College Boys’ School on Kingwood Road, with an accessible shuttle to the stadium. Availability is first come, first served and needs confirming for your fixture.
For the Putney End, access stewards can assist at the dedicated entrance beside the away turnstiles. Accessible toilets and pre-arranged audio-commentary headsets are also described in club-supplied guidance. If you are travelling by public transport, check the entire step-free route in advance; the closest Tube station is not automatically the best accessible journey.
- Accessible parking
- Limited complimentary pre-booked spaces for home and away disabled supporters at Kingwood Road SW6 6SN, first come first served
- Accessible parking advance notice
- Burnley March 2026 guide says reservations from seven days before fixture via Fulham Disability Liaison Officer; verify fixture booking window
- Accessible shuttle
- A shuttle runs from Kingwood Road car park to the stadium before/after games; return may involve a wait
- Accessible away entry
- Accessible entry beside Putney End visiting turnstiles; stewards assist
- Away accessible facilities

After the match
After the match
After the final whistle, head towards Putney Bridge through Bishop’s Park if you are returning on the District line. Fulham’s visiting-club guidance says the park remains open after evening matches, so you should not need to divert round the streets. Give yourself time for busy paths and station queues before committing to a tight last-train connection.
If you parked in Putney Exchange, remember the weekend 8pm and weekday 10pm closing times before you decide whether to stop for food. For a late match, an authorised private space with all-hours access or Westfield’s 24-hour car-park exit is safer. Drivers close to Stevenage Road should expect road restrictions and pedestrian congestion.
- Primary post-match route
- From Putney End through Bishop’s Park to Putney Bridge Underground
- Bishop’s Park evening access
- Burnley March 2026 guide says Bishop’s Park remains open after all matches, including evening games
- Putney Exchange closing times
- Closes 20:00 Saturday/Sunday and 22:00 Monday–Friday; vehicles left after closure not released until next trading day
- Westfield late return
- Westfield London car park exit available 24/7
- Rail post-match reliability
- Check TfL engineering works and live service, especially for Sunday and late kick-offs
Where to stay
Stay around Putney or Putney Bridge if you want an uncomplicated football trip with pubs, food and a walk to Craven Cottage. It works especially well if you arrive through Waterloo or Clapham Junction, as Putney railway station and the District line give different ways in and out. You will still need to cross the river to the away entrance.
Hammersmith is another useful base if you want more hotel choice and several Underground lines, accepting a longer walk or the 220 bus. For a wider London weekend, it is perfectly reasonable to stay near your mainline arrival station and use the District line on matchday. There is no need to book a hotel immediately beside the residential streets around the ground.
- Best practical overnight base
- Putney and Putney Bridge for ground access, mainline links via Waterloo and pubs/food
- Alternative base
- Hammersmith for multiple Tube lines and bus 220; longer stadium approach
- Stadium surroundings
- Craven Cottage is on Stevenage Road beside Bishop’s Park and the Thames, rather than in a hotel-focused precinct

Putney Bridge is the cleanest Fulham away-day starting point: the District line station is about 10–20 minutes from Craven Cottage through Bishop’s Park, while Putney mainline station works well for Waterloo and Clapham Junction arrivals. Temperance, Eight Bells and The Kings Arms form the strongest visiting-pub cluster north of the bridge; The Crabtree is the better riverside choice if you approach from Hammersmith. Away access is well evidenced, but published colours policies are much thinner, so visible shirts should not be assumed welcome everywhere. For food, the River Cafe opposite Putney Bridge is the local matchday institution, Fishers handles proper fish and chips, and Putney Pies is a slower sit-down choice south of the river. Putney/Fulham suits a match-first overnight; Hammersmith is practical for hotels and transport, while central London works if the weekend matters as much as football. Away supporters use the Putney End, where current guidance confirms cashless catering and alcohol.

Food & quick bites
Where to grab a bite, have a proper meal or try the local matchday favourite.
Craven Cottage away concourse
The away concourse is the reliable fallback if external pubs are full or a supporter wants to enter early. Spurs' February 2026 guide confirms food, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic drinks in the visitors' section, while Newcastle's May 2026 guidance confirms food and drink are available from stadium kiosks once turnstiles open. Recent visiting guidance also identifies the Putney End as the away section.
Craven Cottage - Putney End concessions
The Putney End concessions are the most reliable food fallback for ticketed visiting supporters once inside Craven Cottage. Tottenham's February 2026 visitor information confirms that the visitors' section has concessions selling food, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic drinks, and that the stadium is cashless.
Putney Pies
Putney Pies is a useful non-pub food candidate south of the river. Its official site is current and confirms a dedicated pie-led menu, while Football Ground Guide included it in a February 2026 Craven Cottage food-and-drink guide. Its opening pattern matters: the venue is closed Monday and Tuesday, opens from 5pm Wednesday to Friday and from 1pm at weekends, so it will not suit every kick-off.
Fulham Palace Drawing Room Cafe
The quieter pre-match option beside Bishop’s Park. Fulham Palace’s café is open daily and gives families or non-drinkers sandwiches, salads, pastries and light meals close to the ground.
Craven Cottage Putney End concessions
The reliable fallback once you are inside. Current club pricing gives a clear basic menu, while 2026 visiting guidance confirms food, hot and cold drinks and alcohol in the Putney End.
Fishers
The obvious traditional food stop in the Putney Bridge cluster. Fishers serves proper cod and chips but also has a strong vegan range, and works either as a sit-down meal or takeaway.
Putney Pies
A deliberate meal rather than a quick bite: handmade pies in Putney, just south of the bridge. Steak and ale is the obvious order, with fish, vegetarian and vegan versions also available.
Bishops Bar
A flexible all-day food stop on Fulham Palace Road: breakfast in the morning, proper meals later and live sport on four screens. It suits mixed-age groups better than a packed away pub.
River Cafe, Putney Bridge
The most Fulham-specific food stop outside the ground. This old-school family café sits straight outside Putney Bridge station and is still described locally as a proper pre-game institution.
